INTRODUCTION This is the revised and much demanded pamphlet entitled, "WHO WAS NOBLE DREW ALI (HWON)? Suprisingly enough, this year there has been a tremendous upsurge of requests for this book. Many followers of the Moorish Science Temple philosophy, as well as non-members of the movement, requested that I reprint this pamphlet. So once again, I, As Sayyid Al Imaam Isa Al Haadi Al Mahdi, have taken on this task of revising this long-awaited pamphleL Throughout the ages, there have been illuminated souls who have provided extraordinary leadership to the Black (Nubian) nation. These great men, such as: Noble Drew Ali, Marcus Garvey, Elijah Muhammad and Shaikh Daa'wud (TWON) were endowed with wisdom and knowledge that they carefully utilized to guide Nubians (blacks) closer to the truth, Al Islaam. They gave inspiration and guidance to those who were ready to unite as a nation. You will find that Noble Drew Ali (HWON) is rarely mentioned in black history books and even less frequently do you hear of him in the Devil's (pale man's, CH) his- story. It is important that you recognize your great men; for whenever a leader is truly an aid to his people, he is either assassinated, labeled as crazy or not given any exposure by the media. It is no coincidence that many people have never heard of Noble Drew Ali (HWON) and the role that he played as the founder of the Moorish Science Temple in America, for his accomplishments outshine the majority of the Nubian men whom the pale man labels your heroes and other black spokesmen of his time. He was successful in uniting thousands of blacks under the banner of the Moorish Science Temple throughout the United States. Noble Drew Ali (HWON) was a key figure in the establishment of Islaam in America. He first began his teachings in 1913 A.D.. at a time when Nubians were just beginning to be socially awakened. Although, slavery had officially ended with the Emancipation Proclamation fifty-one years earlier (1863 A.D.), very little had changed for the Nubian in America.
Noble Drew Ali (HWON) taught the Nubian man and woman to be proud of their African descent and to trade in the culture of America for the culture of the "Moor". He referred to Nubians as Moors because .f his belief that the slaves in America were taken from Morocco in ~west Africa. Although Noble Drew Ali (HWON) was unable to teach Islaam in ilS pristine purity due to his lack of knowledge of AI Qur'aan and the
Arabic language, he did serve as a stepping stone in introducing AI Islaam

to a people who had totally lost the knowledge of their rightful way of life. Noble Drew Ali (HWON) was able to bring the black man and woman together for the common cause of self upliftment and economic development as a nation. This pamphlet will discuss the life of Noble Drew Ali (HWON). his beliefs, and the customs and symbols of the Moorish Science Temple, as well as the organizations and nations that came after him. It will also introduce you to' his contemporaries (other great Nubian men of his time). You will find that Noble Drew Ali (HWON) incorporated ideologies, outside of Al Islaam from several different organizations, such as: the ~ Shriners, Eastern Moslems and the Christian, Levi Dowling (the author of the Aquarian Gospel from which he grafted much of his Holy Koran). I, As Sayyid Al Imaam Isa Al Haadi Al Mahdi. am here to clear up the confusion to who and what you are with the facts beyond any doubt -- the Scriptures of ALLAH Most Glorified and Exalted, in the hopes that you will come home and join us in our struggle to spread Al Islaam to all the lost family of the planet earth.
THE BLACK MAN HERE IN AMERICA Shariyf Abdul Ali, better known to those who still remember him as Noble Drew Ali (HWON), was amongst the first to give black people a new hope for themselves. Noble Drew Ali (HWON) traveled throughout the South examining the conditions under which the Moors (a name he used for black people) lived. He used this name, Moor, because of the North African history of blacks. The Moors were oppressed by strictly enforced Jim Crow Laws. (1) Those laws segregated blacks from whites in every way of life. The forced separation of the races rendered the Moors unequal, inferior and deprived of rights. The Moors were unable to advance as a people because legal prohibitions and racism would not allow them. After being forced from their homeland and made to labor for the western world, the Moors were stripped of everything. Their history was distorted and destroyed. They were deprived of their: language. names,

religious customs, families and birthrights. Bound in chains and sold to American slave masters of European origin, the Moors were forced to work on cotton, sugar, tobacco and rubber plantations. By the early 1900's little had changed. Noble Drew Ali (HWON) sought to change all that. Ready to teach Islaam in America, Noble Drew Ali (HWON) went amongst the down trodden and began his call:
"COME ALL YE MOORS OF AMERICA AND HEAR THE TRUTH ABOUT YOUR NATIONALITY AND BIRTHRIGHT. COME AND LINK YOURSELVES BACK WITH THE FAMILIES OF THE NATION." Noble Drew Ali (HWON) taught them that the Moorish Americans were direct descendants from the first human family who rapidly populated the earth. Their superior intellect; skillfulness and imagination helped them survive and excel under unfavorable conditions. Noble Drew Ali (HWON) also taught his followers that the pale race has dealt unjustly with them, the Moors. He said that the pale man (Devil in the flesh, CH) has tried to crush the true Muslim and divert him from the path of ALLAH Most Glorified and Exalted. Therefore, you must join the ranks of your fellow Muslim brothers and sisters and abandon the religion of your enemies: CHRISTIANITY. This Was His HopeI These Were His Dreams!

Timothy Drew, later to become known as Noble Drew Ali (HWON), was born on January 8, 1886 A.D., in North Carolina. He was also referred to as "Prophet" Noble Drew Ali (HWON) by some of his followers. One of the very elderly members of the Moorish Science Temple claims that on the day of his birth, there was a great earthquake. This was to have symbolized the so-called Prophet's spirit hitting the earth. Born amongst the Cherokee Indian tribes of North Carolina, young Timothy was put in the care of his aunt after the death of his mother. Little is known about his father, and his early childhood is said to have been very tragic. Before his mother passed, she had the feeling that her son would one day inherit a great mission. Therefore she entrusted him in the care of her sister, who was very jealous of the child and abused him physically, as well as mentally. A review of the so-called Prophet's youth by one of his loyal followers stated that one day, Noble Drew Ali's (HWON) aunt put the young baby in a burning furnace, leaving him to die; but, ALLAH MOST GLORIFIED AND EXALTED in His unrelenting mercy saved the child from the burning furnace and from that point on, prepared him for the great work that he was to perform for his people. Does this sound familiar? Remember the story. of Nimrod casting Abraham (PBUH) into the fire for seven days and how ALLAH MOST GLORIFIED AND EXALTED sent His heavenly hosts, Al Malaa'ikah (4£~1) (2) to protect Abraham (PBUH) from this. ALLAH MOST GLORIFIED AND EXALTED NEVER LEAVES HIS SERVANTS WITHOUT PROTECTION AND COMFORT. The permanent scars on Noble Drew Ali's (HWON) hands and face were evidence of the abuse he endured as a child. There are tales of his younger life having been spent with gypsies and how, one day, when he was walking alone, the voice of ALLAH MOST GLORIFIED AND EXAL TED said, "If you go, I will follow". The so-called prophet did not accept the job at first, but the voice kept saying, "If you go, I will follow." Finally, he accepted his mission and he left the gypsy camp, never to return. (This account was reported by Bro. Claudas M. EI, a Moorish Science Temple follower') During his childhood in the early 1900's A.D., he was a victim of racial discrimination, poverty, and suffering. Timothy was very intelligent and was always eager to listen to the wise.

He was a boy of great bravery and courage. As he grew older, he was very interested in the East. So with nothing to lose, he left the home of his aunt and began his journey toward manhood. Since he loved to travel, he first went to Egypt. While in Egypt, he learned of his heritage. which laid the foundation for his becoming a pioneer of AI Islaam in the Western Hemisphere. He went to Egypt as Timothy Drew, and he returned to America with the Arabic name "Ali". In Egypt, he had the opportunity to: visit the great universities, sit with the Egyptian sages, travel through the inner chambers of the pyramids and also to learn the origin of the slave trade that took place from the northern coast of Africa to America. GIZA PYRAMIDS IN EGYPT He was able to see and believe that his true way of life was Al Islaam, and ALLAH MOST GLORIFIED AND EXALTED is the Creator of the original black man. By being in Egypt, he could see for himself that the Black man had laws. science, math. art, dignity. citizenship and power over his land. There was little formal education of the modern Egyptians in those days, so most of their education came by way of word of mouth. This is the way that Noble Drew Ali (HWON) was able to learn so much about the life. past and present, of the Egyptians. Noble Drew Ali (HWON) was inspired with his origin and returned to America to claim his people -- to raise them up as clean, self-respectable. upright citizens who descended from a glorious race of people. After he returned to the United States, he began his mission.
MOROCCO AND THE HISTORY OF THE MOORS Noble Drew Ali (HWON) led his congregation to the history of the Moors because the slaves of 1779 A.D., who reached the shores of America were of the Moorish nation. The British won the battle against the Moors in 1774 A.D. They captured some Moors and ~ound them into slavery. They were sent to North America and given degrading names such as: negro, black or colored Ethiopians, darkies and coons.

MAP OF MOROCCO Morocco is a small mountainous country in Northwest Africa. It lies only nine miles from Spain, across the Strait of Gibraltar. Moroccans call the country Al Maghrib Al Aqsa (~I ":,,,a...JO, which means "the farthest west" in Arabic. Ra baat ( ltlu) is the capital of Morocco, and Casablanca is the largest city. Morocco is a constitutional monarchy (ruled by one sovereign whose powers are restricted to those granted under the laws of the nation) with the king as head of state. COASTAL REGION OF MOROCCO About 98 out of every 100 Moroccans are Muslims. French and Spanish live in nearby cities.

The official language of Morocco is Arabic. However, they do speak various Berber dialects. The name Moors has most often been used as the equivalent of Moroccan, and sometimes to describe the former Muslims of Spain that were of mixed Arab, Spanish and Berber origins. About 40 out of every 100 Moroccans are Arabs, 25 are Berbers (which is the same as Arab) and 20 are Moors. The Blacks in Morocco are from the descendancy of Bilaal (HWON), the Israelite who passed the Covenant of Prophethood to his Ishmaelite brethren through the Prophet Mustafa Muhammad Al Amin (PBUH). (Refer to Edition #10, BILAAL, Nubian Islaamic Hebrews. 6
Ansaaru ALLAH Publications.) The spread of Islaam across the world took a hundred years (622-722 A.D.), primarily after Mustafa Muhammad Al Amin, (PBUH) the Seal of the Prophet's death (632 A.D.). The decisive battles of the Muslim conquest of North Africa were fought in the western part of the Barbary (a region of the Atlantic Ocean), during (647-708 A.D.) The raid into Morocco met with little resistance, but led to only a partial and temporary submission. It was the expedition of Musa ibn Nusayr that, in 710 A.D., made Morocco a Muslim country. The new ruler behaved like a tyrant, raising illegal taxes and reducing the Berbers to slavery. (The Berbers were the nomads of that time.) In 711 A.D., the first of Musa's Muslim armies invaded Spain. The city of Fez was founded by Idris II. The Idrisides were responsible for making a part of Northern Morocco linguistically Arabic. The word Moors is derived from the Latin word "Mauri", meaning a deep, dark brown, which is used by the Romans to describe the inhabitants of the territory comprising the western portion of modern Algeria and the northeasterp portion of modern Morocco. In classical times, this area made up the Roman Province of Mauritania. One of the Spanish words for black is "moreno" and "morena" in its feminine form.
THE CITY OF FEZ
In recent times, it is used, like the French word "Maure" (instead of Mauritan.ia) to describe the inhabitants of the large Saharan area lying to the south of Morocco and between that country and the Republics of Senegal and Mali, which the greater part forms the modern Islaamic Republic of Mauritania. Fez was one of four traditional capitals of Morocco. It is the bome of the Qarawiyn Masjid, which is the largest masjid in North Africa. 7

DURING MY STAY IN MOROCCO, I WORE THE TRADITIONAL GARB OF THE MOROCCANS -- THE QUFTAN AND FEZ.
It can accommodate 22,000 worshippers who
must be Muslim. The Qarawiyn Masjid is the center of the university founded around 850 A.D. During the Middle Ages, it had a great reputation as a center of Islaamic culture. It offered studies in: Muslim law, theology and literature.
Spain was the only multiracial and multireligious country in Western Europe, and much of the development of Spanish civilization in religion, literature, art and architecture during the later Middle Ages stemmed from the Moor's presence in Spain. The local problem of the Moorish raids on the Spanish south coast became merged into the much more difficult struggle against the Ottoman Empire. After many long battles in Spain, the Moors were finally defeated and exiled. This was due to a sneak attack on the Moors. The enemy, knowing that the Moors were Muslim, staged an attack on a Friday afternoon (during prayer time) knowing that the Moors would be in congregation in the masjid for the lumu'ah Khutbah (Sermon on Friday). (Refer to Ed. #12, MUSLIM PRAYER BOOK, PART 2., Nubian Islaamic Hebrews, Ansaaru ALLAH Publications). Once captured, the Moors were brought to North America and put into slavery.
SLAVERY - THE MENTALITY OF THE PEOPLE DURING THE TIME OF THE NOBLE DREW ALI (HWON) The deception of the Nubian man by the Amorile (pale race, CT) began with slavery. The first time the Amorite saw the Nubian, he (the Nubian) was in all his greatness. The pale man's envy and jealousy overwhelmed him and he began thinking like the Devil (CH) that he is. He became friendly with the chief tribal members and eased his way into their homes, just as he does today with the Red Cross, the Peace Corps and CARE. He knew that if he could win the confidence of the members, he would have no problem taking them or other blacks into captivity. He spent ten to twenty years living with them and learning the customs, as well as their language. By their not knowing any beller, they were fooled. They went against their brothers and helped the Devil (CH) to enslave them. That's the way the Devil (CH) works. He did it then, and he's still doing it! The act of distortion has always been the easiest way the Devil (CM) has of keeping black people under his submissive power. He has distorted your way of life (AI !slaam), your culture, your names, just to name a few of the many ways he influences your life. One of the greatest destructive influences that has grown out of slavery is the disrespect of Nubian leadership. You cannot stand for another Nubian to tell you what to do. But, if an Amorite were to tell them to do the same thing, it would be done without question. It's all part of the spell to keep you blind to the TRUTH. It is a proven fact that the best way to destroy a life is to cut off its head. Systematically, the Devil (CH) always tries to find a way to eliminate any emerging leader of your nation. There are innumerable historical accounts of the cruelties brought against anyone of your nation who even tried to exhibit leadership ability. The slave holder knew that his control over you as slaves was dependent upon the absence of any leadership among the slaves. But in spite of his efforts, your leaders will always arise because you are the chosen people and you must reclaim your birthright. The slave master used indoctrination and conditioning as his tactics for keeping the slave from being rebellious. He considered the captured black man property that he could turn into a profit. The treatment of the slaves was painful and brutal. Some of the physical abuse the slave received were: floggings, whippings, torture, burning alive, and rape. This type of involuntary bondage resulted in the black man hating himself. The Devil's (CH) justification for this treatment of the black-skinned man was because of his color. They say blackness is a curse coming from the curse of Ham, the son of Noah (PBUH). In reality, the curse was placed on Ham's son, Canaan, and that was the curse of leprosy (white skin). [Refer to Torah (5 Books Moses) Genesis 9:25.1 You see what they are doing, they are taking the pressure of their true identity and putting it on us; then backing it up by enslaving our ancestors. They are trying to make black ugly and white right! They say that blacks are cursed, yet they desire our black women, they desire our black skin tone through tans and they desire our black blood. Not only was slavery for the possession of free workers, it was also for experiments to cure their blood disease, hemophilia and other European diseases. Now the tables have turned. The pale race (cr) has mixed their blood so much that they are on the verge of racial genocide. He fears that his race will become extinct through mixing with the Nubian race because the NUbian's genes are stronger than the Caucasians (black is dominant and white is rec~ssive). Therefore when Nubians and Caucasians interbreed, Nubian characteristics appear. During slavery the pale race (CT) established a law stating that if one-eighth of a person's blood was black (referring to ancestry) that person was legally black. To top that off, the pale man has now begun to publicly acknowledge that the pale race is a minority on the planet earth. Koreans, Japanese, Puerto Ricans, Malaysians and many other nations belong to the Nubian race. The Caucasian race is a minority ruling a majority that overwhelms them. This imbalance cannot continue. More and more the media is showing that the original man and woman [Adam (PBUH) and Eve] were black, from sub-Sahara (Sudan). Therefore, they are scared. As you can see from the news, their violence and discrimination against the Nubian race has increased dramatically. They cannot accept that the Nubian race is superior to the white race the way Nubians accepted it when the Devil (pale man, CH) told us we were inferior and that he was our god. Ninety 10
percent of black people just went along with it. You didn't have the problem the pale race is now having. In Nubians imitating the pale race, you lost nothing, you fried your hair, bleached your skin, went to his schools and still maintained your blackness. On the other hand, in the white man imitating us he loses everything because black dominates white. This is 'the reason the Klu Klux Klan would castrate a Nubian man -- the Devil (CH) fears the superiority of your genes. There was a time when a Nubian man could be killed for simply looking at a white woman. The Devil (CH) doesn't want you to live in his neighborhood because he doesn't want you in his home or in his schools, integrating with his children and mixing your seed. The offspring will take on the characteristics of the dominant gene - YOURSm This is why he discriminates against you. Not because the Nubian race is lazy - you've built this country; not because you are unclean, you've cleaned his house, nursed and raised his children; and not because you are unintelligent. The pale man (CH) knows that great black civilizations existed even before he existed physically on this planet; and any positive thing that he could even think of doing has already been The Devil (CD) discriminates against you because done by Nubians. your genes are superior and can wipe out his entire race. Yet, do not be mistaken, taken to far, too much impurity (interbreeding) will render the pure (the Nubian race) impure. During the slave trade, blacks were put on ships that were secure from suicide attempts. Many of the slaves would rather kill themselves than be put in bondage. The passage across the ocean was long and hard with much suffering. The man to whom the Europeans are indebted for the sla ve trade was a Portuguese named Prince Henry. Portugal was the first European country to become involved in this new place they called Africa. Its closeness to Spain afforded Portugal access to valuable information on navigation and mathematics. The Portuguese. with easy access to the ocean, became the foremost European navigators and slave traders of their time. They packed the slaves very tightly on the ships with only enough room to lie flat. Because of the closeness of the slaves, the ship developed pestilence and disease. The number one disease was smallpox. It killed many slaves during the middle passage. Scurvy was also a killer among slaves on these ships. The slave trade system was a system of humiliation and degradation, from which your ancestors suffered much persecution. They were reduced to marketable objects to be bought and sold. The system also took precautions to completely erase from the minds of your people their true culture Al Islaam and the Arabic language. Once the slave became the way the masters wanted him. the slave received a name. The slave would have his/her first name, but the last name would be the last name of the slave master. Once a female slave had sons, the names of those children would have the master's name and then "son" at the end. For example, if a slave was named Clayton, and his master's name was John, his name would become "Oayton Johnson". EVEN THOUGH SLAVERY WAS SUCH A TRAGIC PART OF THE

Notice that I have emphasized the word Amorite (CH) because many peopJe confuse this bondage with that of the Israelites. The use of the word science is based upon the belief that everything finds its root in mathematics. All the questions in the universe can be answered through the application of the 360 degrees of knowledge contained in the universe. The, use of the word "temple" is based upon the knowledge he acquired in his travels through Egypt. He understood that a masjid is a place of prostration and a temple is a place of knowledge, Noble Drew Ali (HWON) didn't possess the knowledge of the Scriptures to guide the people religiously; however, he had the knowledge of the fundamentals of Islaam to teach and guide the people to the truth. Thus, the name Moorish Science Temple is based upon: a. what he thought was our nationality - Moors; b. our way of life - Al Islaam (a Science); and c. the manner in which it would be presented to the people teaching within a Temple.
Why was the first temple called the Canaanite Temple? Noble Drew Ali (HWON) believed that according to all true and divine records of the human race, there is no negro, black or colored race attached to the human family because all inhabitants of Africa were of the human race, descendants of the ancient Canaanite nation from the holy land of Canaan. 16
In the Customs and Symbols section of this pamphlet, I explain how in masonry one journeys from one degree (or veil) to another. In order to enter the first veil, the initiate must replace the name of Ham with the name Adoniram. Ham (son of Noah, PBUH) was the father of Canaan and Adoniram was at the building of Solomon's Temple, which was the start of masonry. This is to say that masonry was started by Canaanites. The questions may arise as to why Noah (PBUH) cursed Canaan (the son) instead of Ham (the sinner); and how did Noah (PBUH) know about Canaan when he wasn't even born yet. Remember, Noah (PBUH) was a Prophet of ALLAH, MOST GLORIFIED AND EXALTED. He was given the ability to prophesize the future. Because ALLAH MOST GLORIFIED AND EXALTED spoke through him, he knew that the curse would fall on Canaan. Ham's offspring (Canaan) were the ones to receive the curse because the sins of the father will fall upon the son, even unto the fourth generation. [Refer to Torah (5 Books of Moses) Exodus 20:5] The point I am making here is that the "black race" (Nubians) did not descend from Canaan (2326 BCE-1660 BCE), whose descendants are white, cursed with leprosy. They descended from three major familes from the seed of the Prophet Noah (PBUH) after the great flood:

The Prophet Abraham (PBUH) received two covenants: one for his son Isaac (PBUH), which was the Covenant of Promise or Prophethood. The ceremony of Hajj, the fifth pillar of faith, is symbolic of the journey that she and her son made. In this ceremony, the Muslim runs back and forth seven times around the Ka'ba. THE FLAG The flag of Morocco used by Noble Drew Ali (HWON) and the Moorish Science Temple consisted of a red flag with a green five-pointed star in the center of it. This flag originally had a six-pointed star when it was introduced in Morocco in the sixth century; but was chang~d by the pale Arabs. This was during a time of much controversy between the people of Morocco and the Spaniards. The green on the flag stands for Islaam. The 71
color green was used by the Prophet Mustafa Muhammad Al Amin (PBUH). The red on the flag symbolizes the blood that was spilled during their struggle against the Spaniards.

It was customary for the Moorish flag to be displayed next to the American flag and his followers were not opposed to pledging allegiance to it. It was this red flag with the green star that Noble Drew Ali (HWON) used as the Moorish national flag. It is similar to the same flag that Marcus Garvey claimed for the Back to Africa Movement - the red, black and green flag of the Madhi Muhammad Ahmad ibn Abdullah (AS), which was altered. The spear, crescent and Arabic inscription were removed. Noble Drew Ali (HWON) did the Nubian a great service when he claimed your true flag from the archives in Washington, D.C., which had been an American possession for 113 years. THE INFLUENCE OF MASONRY ON THE MOORISH
SCIENCE TEMPLE
Noble Drew Ali (HWON) accepted many customs and symbols from the Masonic Lodge, a secret pseudo-religious fraternity. Certain parts of Noble Drew Ali's (HWON) uniform, as well as the names EI and Bey, were taken from the Masons. Noble drew Ali (HWON) also borrowed the name "N 0 ble" and other customs and symbols from the Shriners, which is a secret fraternity that was designed for the Amorite in mockery of Islaam. For example, the Shriners adopted the crescent from the n_~-.J_ AID, f Muslims who migrated ~/~~ f'(~ .:. up into Europe to bring the Caucasian out of the Dark Ages, which was the start of the Renaissance (14th century A.D.). The identification card on the following page is a pass used by the Shriners in their mockery of Islaam. The Arabic inscription depicts the specific time period that the Prophet Mustafa Muhammad Al Amin (PBUH) and his faithful followers (Ansaars) fled from Mecca to Medina (622 A.D.) due to religious persecution. As you will notice from the photograph on the previous page, Noble Drew Ali's (HWON) dress and mannerisms were taken from Masonry and the Ancient Arabic Order of the Mystic Shrine because he himself was a mason of a high degree, as well as a Shriner. He took the mockery of Islaam from the Shriners and used it along with the teachings he learned from traveling to Egypt and came up with a concept of Islaam that stopped the entire nation. He shows the Nubians (Moors) that Islaam was the religion of their forefathers and the religion they should follow. 81

WHAT IS MASONRY? Masonry, also known as Freemasonry, refers to the doctrines and practices (formerly secret rituals) of the fraternal order of Free and Accepted Masons. It evolved from the stonemason guilds of the Middle Ages. One of its founders, Dr. Walter M. Fleming. claimed the Mystic Shriners, who are Masons of the highest degrees, was founded by the son-in-law of the Prophet Mustafa Muhammad Al Amin (PBUH), KalifAlee. (This is their spelling of his name, as I mentioned in an earlier section.) Nubians are not allowed to join these organizations. In 1851 A.D., the Grand Masonic Lodge in New York declared that Blacks and American Indians were unfit for initiation into their secret orders. For this reason, Prince Hall, a black man born in Barbados, West Indies in 1748 A.D., established his own masonic order especially for his black brotherhood. The black answer to the Shriners organization is called the Ancient Egyptian Arabic Order of Nobles of the Mystic Shrine". The black Shriners claim their order was founded by Arabs who were visiting the Chicago World's Fair in 1893 A.D. Both the black and caucasian secret orders have their own female counterpart organizations. The caucasian (Amorite/paleman) even has lodges for his children.

Because Noble Drew Ali (HWON) was a mason of such a high degree, it was only natural that the symbols of masonry were so heavily incorporated into his teachings: His stance: First notice the position of his feet. In Masonry there are several different degrees or steps that one can advance to. The degree that each person has advanced to is signified by the position of the feet. In this case, the position of his feet is known in Masonry as "standing on a square". The square as it is explained by the mason is an angle of 90 degrees, and it forms the fourth part of a circle. In fact, in order to become a Shriner you must have first completed 32 degrees of Masonry or become a High Mason. One more thing I'd like to mention about this position is that it is the same position adopted by the members of the Moorish Science Temple while performing their prayers. Hand position: Next is the position of the hand. One of the most significant implications of his being influenced by masonry is the right hand on his bosom. Although his hand is not under his garment, it still symbolizes the same thing. According to the book RICHARDSON'S MONITOR OF FREEMASONRY, this is supposed to be an imitation of when ALLAH Most Glorified and Exalted commanded Moses (PBUH)· to thrust his hand into his bosom; and upon his taking it out, it became as leprous (white as snow). 83

The thrusting of the hand is the signal used in journeying from one stage, or degree, in the order to another; or more specifically. from the first "veil" to the second "veil". Along with the signal of thrusting the hand. goes the words: Shem, Japheth and Adoniram.

Notice that these men: Napoleon. Noble Drew Ali (HWON) and Richardson are commonly pictured with their hands on their bosoms. They are all Masons. His head dress: When Noble Drew Ali (HWON) is not pictured dressed in his turban. he is seen wearing a fez. The fez is the head dress worn by the Shriners. It was the masons who brought this dress to the East Fez was one of the four traditional capitals of Morocco and was a great Islaamic center of learning. The fez. also known as taraboosh, was customarily worn by students of a great school in the city of Fez. Morocco. It has come to be known as a mark of learning. In actuality the tarbuwsh (~~~) is what the Muslims here in the West wear. and it has a similar significance to that of the fez. The taraboosh is our "crowning of the head", and is literally a symbol of authority and knowledge. As the pyramid is a store house of knowledge. so is the brain of the wearer's head considered to be. Notice the similarity between the fez and a graduation cap. Turn it upside down and add a square. you get the international symbol of graduation. The square is the foundation of the pyramid and the tassle is the symbol of the final bell. To the Moorish Americans. their fez represents the "supreme height of wisdom and practical knowledge of the science of the twelve zodiac signs". This is not the real head dress of Al Islaam. which is a taqiyya, tajj. kufiyya or 'immah with azaba (tassle on the left). 85
