A Short Story About The Oboe...

Description

WHAT İS THE OBOE ? (what the oboe is?)!! I f we ask this question to people, we will receive strange answers from them. They will ask questions to us ‘Is it a new pc game?’ or like this.Briefly so many people don’t know oboe.Maybe you don’t know to.So let me explain and describe (the) oboe.

(It’s an oboe) At the begining oboe is an double reed wind instrument. Its sound like bird but beginner oboe students sounds like duck meanwhile.Whatever, oboists (like me) use a reed for play ( the ) oboe.If i give you extra information; oboist hate reeds. This is the truth.Because every oboe reed give different voice. And they are very sensitive. This is the reason why we don’t like oboe reeds.

A proverb: There is no good oboist, there is always good reed (Serol Yapici) :D

(oboe reed)

And we make oboe reed. Unfortunately we can’t buy oboe reeds like lucky clarinet players.Essentially this is the hardets part of the oboe.Oboe reed very important for oboists. Oboe has 4 parts with reed. You can see this Picture.

OBOE BROTHERHOOD

Oboe has got brothers. . The most widely known today is the cor anglais, or English horn, the tenor (or alto) member of the brotherhood. Contrabass oboe, Oboe de caccia(ancestor of cor anglais) and piccolo oboe are other member of the brotherhood. Even less common is the bass oboe (also called baritone oboe), which sounds one octave lower than the oboe. Similar to the

bass oboe is the more powerful heckelphone, which has a wider bore and larger tone than the baritone oboe.

(cor anglais)

(oboe brotherhood or should i say oboe hell ??)

!!!!Finally you are apprised of oboe a little bit.Lets abstract development of oboe.

Mid-17th century: The oboe evolved from a Renaissance woodwind instrument known as the Shawm. At that time it was named hautbois, which means a loud woodwind instrument in French. This grand ancestor of the modern oboe had two joints that helped in the manufacturing process. The baroque oboe gained popularity across Europe within a short span of time. And baroque oboe is very popular today so i played baroque oboe.İts voice very beautiful if you play good. But if you don’t its voice very irritatin.İf you wanna listen baroque oboe and you wanna a lot, in my opinion you

don’t.İnstead enter Youtube(sorry for advertisement).Write will.i.am or lmfao.İt will be great idea for you.Whatever, let’s continuo boring development of oboe..

Late 17th century: Oboes became the primary woodwind instruments in military bands and orchestras. The cor anglais (English horn) sprouted out as one of the branches on the oboe tree.I play cor anglais too. It’s just amazing. 1700s: A narrower bore was developed to enhance the sound and playability of the oboe. The oboe d’amour and oboe da caccia joined the family of oboes.I think oboe d’amour the best instrument in the world. 1730-1820: With the dawn of the classical period, the oboe’s bore became narrower to facilitate oboists in playing the higher notes, and many new keys were added. A lot of famous composers, including Mozart, Haydn, Beethoven, and Bach, wrote music for the oboe. The number of oboe solos also grew rapidly and during this period. A new kind of woodwind instrument known as the contrabass oboe surfaced.I advise listen Mozart Oboe Concerto for you. 1800s: The oboe made giant leaps during the nineteenth century. The modern form of this instrument called the conservatoire oboe was manufactured by the Trieberts, a Parisian family. They introduced a new key work and the bore was improved as well. An oboe expert named Apollon M. Barret made it possible for oboists to move from one octave to another without over blowing, using a special key. Plates were introduced to cover the finger holes. This century also saw the birth of both the bass oboe (aka baritone oboe) and Wiener (Viennese) oboe. Viennese oboes have a broader inner bore and a reed that is smaller and wider compared to the conservatoire oboe. 1900s: The heckelphone, a relative of the oboe that lives one octave below it, joined the oboe bandwagon. Luthier Youenn Le Bihan made the first piston oboe. Many new oboe brands were introduced to the market.Meanwhile if oboe is prince, heckelphone will be king, oboe d’amour will be princess, cor anglais will be knight and flute, clarinet and other brass ensturments are will be jesters. Present: Oboe artisans like me and producers vigorously enhance the quality of their oboes to stay ahead of the competition.
