What are the possible underlying agendas of Davis and McDonald? Frank Davis: Frank Davis is an expert in his role since he has risen up the hierarchy with time in the same organization. He is process and data driven and believed in team work. But Green was more individualistic in nature and did not care about supporting data or processes and constantly ignored direction from his superior. This created the mistrust and tension between Davis and Green and was the cause of resistance on Davis’s behalf. Davis underlying agenda would be replacing Green with an individual who is process driven, team oriented and who would work in accordance of Davis’s ideas and guidance for meeting the targets set by Davis. Green was much younger to Davis but still got Davis’s previous designation due to Shannon McDonald. Davis was not consulted about Green’s promotion to the role. Davis probably wanted market executives for Green’s position who worked for few years in the organization under Davis or whom Davis knew well personally and professionally. Since the position was under Davis, Davis wanted more say in the candidate employment for the position that his boss,

McDonald. Green was a company veteran and his objective was company success and his key motivation was meeting the sales projection for the year. When he saw that Davis did not adjust to his new position well and was not in accordance with Davis’s targets which could result in missed targets for the year, he wanted Green to be replaced by a more competent candidate. Shannon McDonald: Shannon McDonald was a company veteran who had a sales background and rose to VP position starting as the ales director in the organization. So, she had a natural affinity to dynamic sales people and Green was excellent as an account executive in sales. In addition, McDonald and Green were Georgia native and also University of Georgia alumni which resulted in an instant connection. Since the airport kiosks was a mature application and web check in was in growth phase, McDonald, after hearing the ideas and growth strategies from Green, offered him the of a senior market specialist. Her idea was to fill the position with a dynamic person with fresh and novel ideas who could learn from the seasoned managers and veterans about the several different functions and layers of corporate management and implement

his ideas and strategies more successfully for more revenue for the company. If this strategy worked, then she would also be creating a second line for Davis to take the organization forward.
