Niese The Book is a basic text on reinforced concrete based on the American Concrete Institute's Code 318- 2008 Edition. It covers the basics of how concrete is made, the Strength Design Method using strain criteria and not the Whitney Stress Block method. I find it a little strong on Theory and not practice. Concrete is a job made material and strength can vary and rebar placement can vary within tolerence's. The book is easy to read and understand. I like it because it is up to date. My concrete design work is: underground rectangular vaults for a precast concrete company. My old book is with a 1975 edition.
