S Session 1: Introduction to AutoCAD A D® P&ID: The New w P&ID

What is in this co ourse

Learn how to use u AutoCAD Plant P to draw in ntelligent Piping g and Instrumentation Diagram ms (P&IDs). At A the end of the e session you will w understand d how Autodeskk Plant leverages standard Au utoCAD product ctivity tools with user-customiza able symbols to o quickly and easily e create an nd edit drawingss in a way not possible p using base b AutoCAD You will receivve in-depth step p-by-step instru uctions on how to take a typica al P&ID and levverage standarrd AutoCAD functionality to make m a number of graphical re evisions to the drawing d while ensuring e all end d-line and in-line equipment e maintain connectivvity and inherita ance. You will learn how to en nsure consistency of process pipe line propertties across multiple drawing filles.

Creating a P&ID draw wing

In this sessio on we will crea ate the P&ID (shown below w), to provide a general ide ea of how to use u AutoCAD D P&ID to create producction P&IDs. In particular, we will cover these items in this order: A. B. C. D. E. F. G.

Draw wing equipment & assigning tags Conn necting equipment with pro ocess lines Placiing hand valv ves, reducers and control valves v Placiing instrumen ntation Entering equipme ent data and placing p equipm ment annotatiions d and placcing pipeline annotations a Entering pipeline data c Placiing off page connectors.

L Launching AutoCAD Plant Solu utions P&ID D 2008 As with other AutoCAD A based products, you can launch P&ID from m either the de esktop icon or from the pro ograms sttart menu. Th his will invoke e AutoCAD in the P&ID wo orkspace. The e environmen nt should be fa amiliar as it iss le everaging stan ndard AutoCA AD. The mosst important elements of P& &ID workspacce to become e familiar with are the P&ID workspacce toolbar, the tool palette and the Project Manager.
