The last few reports from Braxis’ World glared at David Charlton from his monitor, and he read them slowly, his brow knitting into a frown as he thoughtfully sipped at the steaming black coffee. Progression with the Lazarus Project seemed to be going well, up until a month ago. Someone had stumbled upon the miserable little planet hidden far out into the reaches of space and stolen some of the Lazarus subjects. If it was Grant Pharmaceuticals, he was fucked. The head of the Bioweapons Division would have his dick on a stick, and pack him off with the load of ‘Guests’ to the next party. He read through the final transmissions again, noting the names on the transmissions, then grabbed the folder from his desk and leafed through the contents. Bellmore had been one of the chief research analysts on the project; he had been with Yutani for twenty years. Clayton and Mayato had both defected over from Grant Pharmaceuticals within the past five years, but Romerez did not show up anywhere on the lists of scientists. He had to be a terraformer, but what the hell was he doing using a secured operating channel? Who had given him access to the codes? When Charlton found out what was going on down there, he was going to have somebody’s balls. Unauthorised use of secured channels, specimens and research going missing... Christ, it was going to cost the company billions. He had not bothered to send a reply to the colony. The final transmission suggested a damaged transmitter at their end, and even if he did, it would take a month to get a response: deep space communication hadn’t been a priority when constructing Braxis’ World, the money went solely into the research side of it. They had their own small security detachment, though, a small platoon of USCM troops designated to keep the peace between the scientists and the roughnecks. Yutani funded a lot of the military, so it was easy enough to arrange a private security force and make sure they were kitted out with the latest of hardware. What had happened to demand a request for help, a complete breach in protocol and communication standards? “Fucking Grant,” he muttered, placing his coffee on the solid mahogany desk and pulling a cigar from the dispenser on his desk. He would wager his quarterly bonus that Grant had organised another of his famous ‘military’ expeditions, gathering mercs, hired guns and Marine drop outs to lead a strike on the facility, hoping to steal the latest research. He would have to send a contingent of troops out to check the situation, and a quick check on his charts showed him that one of the older Conestoga class starships, The Liberty Bell, was no more than a few weeks travel out of the system, and could pick up a company delegate from Leesons Point on the way. A few commands routed to their central processor should get them on track for their next mission. “I’ve got you this time Grant, you bastard!” growled Charlton, smoothing his shirt and tie against his body. “And if I get you... I get a bigger bonus this quarter. You’re mine!

HISTORY: DISCOVERY The initial discovery of the first xenomorph species designated as XT-302 (unofficially referred to as Bugs or simply the Alien) occurred over a hundred years ago, on the small planetoid of LV-426, an uninhabitable rock in the Zeta Reticuli binary star system. Discovered by the commercial starship Nostromo and her crew of seven (plus an additional cat for rodent control), the ship was forced to awaken the crew from deep hybernation when the main computer detected a sub-space distress beacon. Upon setting down on the planet, a group of three crew members went on a search and rescue mission: instead, they found the remains of a ship and a creature that had been dead for centuries. This same ship had a massive storage facility beneath the main chamber, housing thousands of the egg, the first stage of XT302’s lifespan. One such egg hatched and released the secondary stage of the lifecycle, a larvae that attached itself to one unfortunate crew member. This group returned to the safety of the Nostromo, and immediately took off from the planet. During the rest of the journey, the crew member attacked by the larvae unknowingly played host to a parasitic embryo, the third stage, which hatched and subsequently escaped into the ducts of the ship. This embryo evolved into the adult form, and systematically eliminated the crew one by one, until only one female warrant officer remained. The attempt to kill this creature by abandoning ship and detonating the engine core of the Nostromo failed, allowing for a final confrontation between the surviving crew member and creature. The result saw the creature expelled from the airlock and burned with the lifeboat’s afterburners. This Weyland Yutani knows for sure from

Ben Black

uplinked video footage and partially scrambled transmissions from the science officer aboard the Nostromo, though all evidence was denied and covered up by the company in the formal hearings the ensued.

War 57 years elapsed, and all records of the Nostromo incident were lost in the annals of the company. During that time, the planetoid of LV-426 became one of the many ‘shake and bake’ colonies set up by Weyland Yutani. The planet became known as “Acheron”, and no discovery of the derelict craft or any alien life forms were reported by the colonists there, though none of the settlers ever had any reason to venture far beyond the mountainous ridges the base was set up in. After this time, the sole survivor of the Nostromo appeared in the Outer Rim territories, picked up by a deep space salvage crew. This survivor relayed her story to the company board of directors, and was laughed out of the hearing, her name turned to mud without any solid or physical evidence relating to the incident. She was stripped of all rank, and her flight status revoked. Where others saw the massive financial loss of a deep space refinery plant, one scrupulous executive saw profit and the opportunity to advance. He signed an order to send a small family of prospectors to investigate the location the survivor claimed the alien spacecraft had been left... and in turn, signed the death warrant of almost two hundred men, women and children. The XT tore through the colony in no time, killing some and spreading their kin through others used as breeding stock. With the colony overrun, all communications ceased and the company feared the worst. Convincing the Nostromo survivor to return to the planetoid with a small USMC platoon, rescue party was

V

dispatched with the intention of saving the colony. As with the directors, many of the marines mocked the tale of alien encounters and super-strong creatures. Though much of events on the planetoid were poorly documented, the central computer system of the Sulaco, the USMC ship sent on the mission, managed to document partial events from the landing. Broken video footage and snippets of recorded dialogue did indeed point to an XT presence, similar to the Nostromo incident. Tough it was unclear as to what happened to the squad, it was apparent that three of the crew had survived: when the Sulaco was found floating in deep space, only three of the hybernation chambers had been used and consequently been jettisoned from the ship through an EEV after an electrical fire caused a major malfunction in the operating systems of the ship. The destination for this EEV has et to be revealed, though it was rumoured that this caused a further spread of XT-302. The Sulaco’s log also indicated a nuclear explosion had occurred on the surface of Acheron , though all nuclear warheads aboard the ship were accounted for. A deep space probe sent to investigate showed that the colony on Acheron had been wiped off the face of the planet. The fallout pattern suggested a systems malfunction within the atmosphere processor. With the Acheron facility gone, this planet was written off as a loss, and prospectors turned to look towards other planets closer to home for resources. However, work regarding XT-302 did not end there.

from it. Despite all attempts by Weyland Yutani, information regarding this remarkable creature was slowly seeping out into the public. Some feared the creatures, others embraced them as the new Messiah. The true malevolent natures of these creatures were revealed when they managed to overrun Earth, forcing humanity to either flee to the safety of the platforms orbiting the planet, escape to distant colonies, or seek refuge within the coldest and darkest recesses of the planet. Years after mankind’s exile from Earth, a daring raid on one of the many suspected ‘homeworlds’ for the Alien resulted in capture of a powerful Queen Alien. Using this creature as bait, a chain of deadly bombs were set off across the planet’s surface, scarring the ground and wiping out the Alien threat as they flocked to greet their all-powerful mother. As all doctors know, even the most precise of surgical procedures can often leave a trace of a malignant tumour deep within the incision. And that tumour can continue to spread the infection. As the fallout of the explosions degraded to a more hospitable background level, mankind slowly returned to their home and began to rebuild their homes and cities; though some pockets of XT resistance still lingered in many areas, places untouched by the bomb and it’s destructive power. These hives were flushed out by highly trained soldiers, survivors and veterans of the first Alien-Earth war. As humanity recovered from the devastating blow the Alien had dealt, they became the sole focus of thousands of scientists: biologists, engineers, geneticists, Black Cancer all became enthralled by the workings of XT302, and studied them whenever they could. Further reports of this mysterious alien Some concentrated on the intriguing creature began to come in from various immune systems and self defence other planets around the Zeta Reticuli mechanisms, the remarkable acidic blood system: prospectors, marines, bounty that could eat through the most hardened hunters, all told tales of a black insect-like and toughened of armours. their dependancy of technology saw them flourish over the species XT-302. As mankind reclaimed his domineering grip on the galaxy, scientists continued to study the creature, many going to extremes to further their experiments: Infiltration missions deep into the Alien Hives, genetic manipulation of the species to try and create the ultimate creature, adapting their physical chemistry for the benefit of mankind. Many tried to tame them, all failed. Some deluded people even used them in the process of Xeno-XIp entertainment, their harrowing screams recorded for music. From observations made in hives around The Military, having gained their only the worlds, it was clear that the Queen, the benefit from the malevolent creatures, knew Alien progenitor responsible for hundreds only the desire to kill them: and kill them, and thousands of eggs, was genetically no they tried to. different to warriors and drones of the same However, mankind wasn’t the only species hive. endless supply of eggs, meaning they could seed any given planet and fight with more favourable odds. In many respects, the Yautja could be considered responsible for the mass spread of the Kainde Amedha: were it not for the hunters, the Kainde Amedha may well have remained on the handful of planets they dominated for hundreds of years, an undiscovered race. As the Hunters left their Clanworld in the pursuit of hunts, each bigger and more important than the last, they encountered hundreds of species in battle: some primal, other sentient, though none as feral and deadly as the Kainde Amedha. Though one species did come close. They weren’t as strong as the Kainde Amedha, as even an unblooded Yautja could tear them apart in unarmed combat. This new species was far more intelligent than the Kainde Amedha, for instead of attacking in a relentless tsunami of needle teeth and claws, they would fall back from a fight, regroup, assess the situation, and develop new strategies. They were the Pyobe Amedha. The Soft Meat. They called themselves “Ooman”. Hunts involving these unpredictable creatures were rare, and many Clan Ships banned the hunting of them all together. The most intelligent of all sentient species they had encountered, the Yautja kept their distance from them. Few Hunters decided to break their laws and stalk this new and dangerous prey, their home planet holding many environments suitable for a Hunt. Even fewer of these hunters returned.

they advanced from spear-weilding natives to explorers of the stars in less then a thousand years. With the Pyobe Amedha previously confined to a single planet, it was easy to avoid them, but as they branched out into the universe on spacecraft of their own, it was only inevitable that the Yautja would encounter them. While the ruling of many of the Clan’s Elders dictated they should still avoid the Pyobe Amedha, many conflicts became inevitable: from a single family being caught in the maelstrom of a hunt, to the entire destruction of a Pyobe Amedha colony on one of the many desert worlds used for seeding. The skulls of the Pyobe Amedha quickly became as revered as those of the Kainde Amedha: a rare trophy from a forbidden hunt. A skull such as that would guarantee much interest from the Childbearers on the Clanworld. The Hunt Code slowly changed, allowing the hunting of the Pyobe Amedha, but only in cases where they had wandered into a seeding area used to Hunt the Kainde Amedha. In cases when this happened, the Oomans were fair game for either Yautja or Kainde Amedha.

BRaXISä WORLD

Braxis’ World was a hot, barren environment, it’s surface ravaged by dust and electrical storms. A planet such as this held no interest to Weyland Yutani, a company offering a better life for anyone willing to uproot their life and trek across the CODE OF HONOUR galaxy in the name of exploration. At least, that was the official story. While The Yautja, still keeping their distance from the reports made public on Braxis’ World the Pyobe Amedha and their home world, were true, stating there were minor traces of still had the rest of the galaxy to Hunt in, but minerals beneath seven or eight hundred over the millennia the Pyobe Amedha feet of solid iron ore, they neglected to advanced in leaps and bounds. of the large mountainous regions dubbed as Devil’s Teeth by the survey team that had evaluated the planet. This team had, of course, been attacked and wiped out by the Aliens while relaying their report, leaving behind only a gutted survey vehicle for the rescue team to find. While Weyland Yutani maintained a zero tolerance policy with the Alien menace in front of the public, it was a very different story behind closed doors. Despite everything that had happened in the past, the hundreds of people who had died while observing or experimenting on the Alien, they continued their research. Braxis’ World was deemed a perfect place to set up a colony dedicated to research the Alien, and any benefits it may still offer mankind. Far away from the public eye and any rival companies that may be looking to steal research or scientists, the facility was run by a senior researcher called Peter Bellmore, a man who had been shunned by the science world for his immoral research, in which he dabbled in both Alien tissue experimentation and the use of recently deceased humans. What better a location to continue his research than a distant research facility, protected by a small enclave of United States Colonial Marines? Upon arriving on the planet and going through the lengthy process of installing the atmosphere processor, no one questioned how the Aliens had gotten there: The planet was devoid of life, and no visible signs of any previous habitants could be seen. What Weyland Yutani hadn’t realised was that Braxis’ World hadn’t always been known as that. The Yautja had named it Co’Nix-Var, the Short Rain, so called because of its brief periods of annual rainfall. They would seed the planet with Alien drones and warriors, allow them to establish a small hive, and then participate in a Hunt. When the planet became populated by a small band of raiders and pirates looking for a safe haven, they unknowingly volunteered

Ben Black

as hosts for the next Hunt. The battle between Hunter, human and prey was long and bloody, and the survivors, the Aliens, claimed the planet as their own..

MaKING BETTER WORLDS The research facility was quickly set up, and the small hive of creatures contained within the confines of the research modules of the small and secret colony, and Weyland Yutani carried out their illicit work. Time moved slowly for the occupants on and above and within Braxis’ World: Doctor Bellmore’s research took on a new twist as dead tissue was fused with various mutated samples of Royal Jelly and Alien DNA in an effort to increase the lifespan of the average soldier in the battlefield. At the same time, the Yautja watched these events from their cloaked Clan Ships in orbit, slowly drawing their plans for a perfect Hunt and dreaming of claiming highly sought-after trophies. And the Aliens simply waited...

STORY IDEaS The scenarios that can be acted out relating to this setting can be set in one of three time periods: 1> The initial war on Braxis between the Raiders, the Yautja and the Aliens 2> The assault by the Yautja on the Weyland Yutani research post currently studying the native Aliens. 3> The cleanup of the research facility after the invasion has subsided. It would be possible for these three stories to be played out consecutively as one multisegmented campaign with enough forethought: The raiders could abandon their post, survive on the planet’s surface far away from the Aliens until the research station is made, then try to infiltrate that just days or weeks before it is lost in an outbreak. They then try to hold out until a rescue squad comes to save them. A similar tale could be spun for the Yautja, with a little creativity

RaID ON BRaXIS This scenario centres around the initial battle on Braxis, in which the Yautja, Aliens and raiders were caught up in a bloody battle. Players can choose to be either a Raider or one of the unblooded Yautja (see section on Characters later on for stats for these), and deal with an army of the Aliens. Additional information relating to the Raiders and their base of operations can be found later on in this adaptation, under the heading of Braxis’ World (page XXX). In this setting the players may have the opportunity to form an allegiance with one of the other species involved in the battle (though an allegiance with the Aliens themselves would be very very unlikely. It would be possible for different players to select different species to play in the game (at the Zombie Master’s discretion).

Ben Black

RETURN OF THE YaUTJa In this scenario, players may be going about their usual roles in the company; scientists working on reports and experiments, clerical staff going over administration work, or maybe a marine on his or her regular patrol. A few hours of normalcy in a standard day, before a body of an officer is found outside the colony, slumped near an airlock. Medics on the scene can’t identify the means of attack, and the players may be discussing this when one of the seals on the Hive appears to fail, and the Aliens are released. As these beasts rampage through the colony, it become clear that there is more than simply the Aliens enjoying spreading carnage. Alternatively, players may choose to take on the role of unblooded Yautja, who must infiltrate the colony and release their intended prey back into the wild and participate in their favoured bloodsport. As the battle rages on, some of the biological experiments will more than likely escape from their holding cells, throwing an entirely new species into the mix. Regardless of which species is played, the goal is ultimately the same: Survive.

OperatIon Cleanup This third scenario concentrates on evens after the initial hunting party conducted by the Yautja, and works best with players as Marines. With the base having been out of contact for some weeks now, Weyland Yutani have decided to send in a damage control team. Their goal is to secure the base, obtain any samples that may still be alive, find any survivors, and if possible, re-establish the base. However, just because the battle has ended, this doesn’t mean the war is over. Some of the Yautja may have been left on

X

Braxis’ World: Maybe their ship was destroyed in the battle, or maybe they elected to stay behind and protected the planet from anyone who may try to come and reclaim it as their own. Aliens may have retreated to one of the nearby mountain ranges with a collection of hosts, and want t create their hive once more. A third party may be interest in Braxis’ World and the research that has been carried out there, and wish to claim it as their own. Some of the Raiders may have escaped the

Ben Black

original assault by the Yautja, and now seek revenge, wanting to reclaim their planet back. And not forgetting the presence of the Lazarus Brood. These are just some of the perils players may face in reclaiming Braxis’ World in the name of Weyland Yutani - or for the honour of the Yautja No one said being a marine was going to be an easy job, and they don’t pay you by the hour.

XI

HUMaNS Travelling from planet to planet in their starships, Humanity is slowly spreading across the galaxy, claiming worlds for themselves and adapting their environments for their own needs: such is their manner in doing this, some scientists have likened Mankind to the Alien, spreading from world to world, raping them of all natural resources, then moving on to the next inhabitable planet. Different humans have their own roles within this colonising. Some apply their skills in building better worlds, through exploring or engineering: some offer their services for protection. Others use their intellect or muscle to take what they want or need to survive.

PERSONALITY: We were initially placed in platoons to act as medics and scientists. Artificial people, I mean. At first, the marines found it had to accept. Synths, Droids, Robots... to them we were just another piece of hardware, and expendable. They tried to get us to do the more dangerous jobs, but the Lieutenants never let us, they kept saying we were part of the team, and should be treat like one. The truth was that although we are stronger and more intelligent than humans, we aren’t any tougher then them We can’t survive in hard vacuum, if we get shot we suffer the same debilitating injuries. The main difference is it takes something like $150,000 to train one marine rifleman, where as it costs $8.5 million to replace an Artificial Person. Because of the dollar value, they couldn’t afford to treat us as expendable. Once you’re in a team, it’s hard to adapt, but once you come through for the men and women a couple of times, they soon accept you. Strange that they would accept an Artificial Person into their ranks, yet they refuse to socialise with the Lieutenant... QUOTE: “The chances of completing the mission are approximately 150,356 to 1. I estimate casualties will come to 83%” EQUPIMENT:Coveralls, Remote Link-up, Com-Set, Torch.

PERSONALITY: Once you leave the Marines, there isn’t much you can do until your pension kicks in. Policing or security work are pretty much the only options you have, at least if you want to stay on the right side of the law. So I became a security guard. Got selected for the Weyland-Yutani job, mainly because of my background, and got shipped out here. Braxis. A shitty little dump, with an en-suite hive. Last thing I need after all the bugs trying to take over Earth is to have a bedroom right next to the hive. And now the latest scuttlebutt is that there’s something else here. Now, I don’t know the truth behind all this, but there’s been a lot of weird shit going on, what with accidents in the Maintenance area and the monitors on the fritz; a lot of ghosting on the screens that can’t be explained. Whenever I ask admit about it, they just tell me to file a report. A frigging report, what use is that going to do? That didn’t do Mike in Maintenance any good when he... PERSONALITY: It’s not an easy life, being shipped around from planet to planet and setting up different colonies. I’d never been on the same world for longer than a couple of months. Until now, that is. Now I’d give my left nut to get off Braxis. There’s too much weird shit going on here. Only last week, they found my buddy Mike hanging by his feet in Maintenance. No one knows how he got up there, and of course the monitors have been playing up for weeks, too, so there’s no way we’re ever going to find out how it happened. Now, I can believe it might have been an accident. Crawling along the pipes above the ceiling, gets his leg caught, down he comes. But Jake up in Admin level, he files all the base’s reports, and he says that Mike had his spine removed. What the fuck does that? If I didn’t know better, I’d say one of the bugs had got loose. But there’d be a hell of a lot more causalities by now. And now the relay station is down, and I’ve got to get in my tractor and trek halfway across this rock just to fix it. On my own. PERSONALITY: The species designated XT-302 is a fascinating organism, with truly unique hive structure. Braxis is the best place I could possibly learn anything of them, especially seeing as I’m in a unique position where I can work up close with the creatures, and observe them. Their fusion of biological and technological elements is unique, and this may be something that we could use in our LA2ARU5 project. I’ll make a note of that and present it to Rumiko in our next meeting. I’ve heard the rumours that’s going around the base. People vanishing, people being found dead, the most recent and public that of Mike Davison in maintenance. People are obviously wary of the stories they’ve heard from other scientists working with aliens, and the staff there who also seemed to vanish. I’m talking about that crazy old bastard running Innominata, or the administrator on Charon. They used their own crew for experiments, I guess it’s only to be expected people start thinking the same here. Live test subjects would be beneficial for our research, though, especially if we’re going to dissect the XT’s, we’ll need to replace them. Maybe I’ll have a word with Bellmore, see if I can come to an arrangement. Until then, I’ll just have to keep using the corpses... QUOTE: “He’s dead. I’m calling it, 26:32 Braxis Time. PERSONALITY: Fucking Bug-World. Nobody said Braxis was a planet riddled with Bugs, nobody in any space ports tried to warn us offa it and tell us it was crawling with the little bastards. Course, I don’t know if that would have swayed our decision or not. What better defence from any Marine bastards then an army of the aliens? The destruction of ‘Hayley’s Hump’, our outpost there, wasn’t as quick as someone would have figured. After all, we’re tougher than any Marine shit-head any day of the week. We put up a good fight, probably would have won, too, if it hadn’t been for those invisible bastards that turned up. Now our base is gone, our vehicles trashed, and Bugs are closing in all around us. armoury The USCM has a large array of weaponry available at it’s disposal, each weapon having its own role and purpose within a squad. It is worth noting that some Marines still favour older weapons, such as pump-action shotguns customised to take the modern M108 Canister rounds, and some officers still carry a regimental-style sword into battle. This is, of course, next to useless in modern warfare.

M41a PULSE RIFLE The M41A Pulse Rifle is the standard issue rifle for the USCM, firing M309 10 x 24 mm caseless round which has been developed to penetrate armour, and then ‘explode’ after impact, ergo creating a armour piercing and hollow point bullet in one go. It can be fired in bursts of four shots, or in full automatic mode. It can also be fitted with a 3X day/night scope, to increase accuracy at range or in Low Lighting Conditions. On the underside of the rifle is a 30 mm grenade launcher, which fires an assortment of different grenades. Range: Rifle = 10/250/500/100/2100 Grenade Launcher = 10/50/180/300/400 (with a few noted exceptions) Damage: Rifle = D6 x 5 (Halve armour value, triple internal damage) Grenade Launcher = Various, dependant upon grenade used (listed below) Capacity:

Encumbrance Value:

Rifle = 99 rounds per magazine (though normally filled with 95 to prevent jamming) The rifle also needs a Lithium Battery to fire the weapon, which is inserted near the stock. This is good for about 10,000 shots before it needs to be recharged. Grenade Launcher = 4 grenades. 10/5

GRENADE TYPES: M40 High Explosive: A simple fragmentation grenade. M108 Canister (Buckshot) Round: Essentially, a large and heavy duty shotgun round, whose range differs to that of normal grenades. This gains +2 to any Strike-tasks. Range = 3/10/15/20/30 Damage = D8 x 8 M230 Baton Round: A safety bullet, essentially a long plastic projectile designed to incapacitate instead of kill. Again, range is different to other grenades. Range = 3/5/10/15/25 Damage = D10 x 6 (blunt - if Endurance rules are in play, this will only damage endurance points.) M60 White Phosphorous Incendiary: A grenade which creates a thick cloud of white phosphorous smoke within a range of 15 metres/yards from the point of impact, reducing visibility to Bad Lighting Conditions, as well as having a secondary incendiary effect against vegetation and materials. A direct hit with an M60 Grenade will inflict (D8 x 4) + D4 M72A1 Starshell: This can be launched 200 metres into the air, where it bursts into a flare giving off light equivalent to 50,000 candelas for approximately 45 seconds. If used as a weapon, apply the same damage as a normal flare. M51A Bounding Fragmentation: Instead of detonating on impact, this grenade has a small explosive charge that propels the grenade 2 metres/ yards into the air before erupting, ideal for clearing out foxholes. Damage Zones = 1/3/6 Damage = D6 x 8/D6 x 4/D6 x 2 Other variants of the Pulse Rifle include include the M41A-E2, which doesn’t come with the the under slung grenade launcher, but instead uses a large drum magazine which can hold up to 300 rounds. If using a Pulse Rifle, the operator is just as adept at using the grenade launcher as the rifle itself, so if a Marine takes Guns (Pulse Rifle) +4, then he has +4 when using either rifle or the attached grenade launcher.

M56 SMaRTGUN: The Marine’s primary light support weapon, the M56 is a heavy and robust weapon that the operator does not actually carry, but wear it. The weapon itself is aimed by an IR sensor near the muzzle of the gun, which tracks its targets automatically by moving on the selfaiming articulated arm. The operator does not need to fight the gun, merely move with it. The operator also still needs to fire the weapon. Using M250 10 x 28 mm ammo, the operator has the option of setting the fusing of the rounds, which is selected by flicking a switch: Anti-Infantry(AI) setting (hollow point), which makes the shell explode on contact, and Delay (armour piercing, then normal bullet), which makes the shell explode only after

Self targeting is not affected by pitch black conditions. This weapon automatically inflicts Light Encumbrance.

M240 INCINERaTOR RIFLE: The M240 Incinerator Rifle is a carbine-format flame-thrower, designed specifically for close-combat situations. Though its maximum effective range, ordinarily, is only thirty yards, it can be almost doubled by raising the muzzle to a 45 degree angle and raining the flaming napalm down on the target. This weapon is disliked by many Marines, as the fuel reservoir is particularly vulnerable to shrapnel and small arms fire, making Flame-thrower units favourable targets for snipers. Range: 3/7/12/30/50 Damage: D4 x 2 Fire Damage (burns for thirty seconds) - Use in a pressurized or Oxygen-rich environment will cause three times the damage, but will also destroy the fuel reservoir. Destruction of this causes D12x5(60) damage to the operator and anything within five yards. Capacity: Sufficient fuel for a continuous burst of 20 seconds. Encumbrance 8/4 Value: Cost: Availability

M42a SCOPED RIFLE: The M42A scope rifle is a powerful sniper rifle used primarily by scout-snipers within the Marine Corps. Able to use either normal Smartgun M250 ammo, or its own M252 supply with no reconfiguring or adaptors required, Smartgun ammunition is only effective out to about 1,500 yards, while its own tailor-made ammo is effective up to distances exceeding 3,000 yards. It comes with a targeting scope attached as standard, which offers magnification at 20-times, and can also display various spectrums and tactical data received Ben Black XXVI

âKlassIcä auROra Old models of assault rifles can be modified to take the same ammunition as the pulse rifle, with a little ingenuity. It is not uncommon to see Raiders or frontier Terraformers armed with an old weapon such as this: Modification is not entirely legal, and the ammunition is particularly hard to come across, often only available from Military supplies. While a Raider may have a large supply of this, a Terraformer may not be able to come across any until a run-in with a reliable merchant. This can be fired in single shots or fully automatic, depending on how the selector switch is set. Converting an old weapon requires an Intelligence and Craft (Weapon smith), with bonuses taken into account for any Gunsmithing specialities. When firing the weapon, Roll a D10. On a roll of 1, the weapon jams, meaning the person using it has to remove the bullet from the weapon to get it working again. A role of three success levels (using Dexterity & GunsAutomatics or Weapon smith) or or more means he can remove the jam and fire one shot before the end of that combat turn. For two success levels, it will take him one full turn of combat to remove the obstruction, while it will take him three for a single success level. Range: 10/250/500/750/1500 Damage: Capacity:

Royal Jelly/ Xeno-XIp While not a weapon strictly speaking, this natural product produced by the mother of an Alien hive is issued to many soldiers on long tours of duty in he form of tablets. More powerful than a hundred high-strength caffeine pills, one tablet of processed Royal Jelly can increase all the primary aspects of the user by 2, heightening their strength and perception, and increasing all their secondary attributes accordingly. The effects of each tablet can last for D12x3(18) minutes, and afterwards, the user must rest for an hour to recuperate from the massive strain that the body has been though. Another tablet can be taken before this rest period has expired, but this will result in a 1 in 10 chance of a massive heart attack, causing instant death. A third pill would increase the chance to 2 in 10, a fourth to 3 in ten, and so on. Xeno-Xip is a narcotic substance controlled by the USMC, and can only be distributed by the Marines or a high ranking Surgeon to aid recuperation. Crates of this substance can often go missing from high security storage facilities, and normally find their way into the cargo holds of Raider’s craft to be sold on the black market. The pheromones given off from Xeno-Xip within an Alien hive environment will attract D4 Aliens per minute, until the Jelly is either destroyed or sealed away in an airtight container.

Additional Notes: The Powerloader is worn by an operator, and multiplies the user’s strength by a factor of 5, enabling them to lift heavy loads up to 4,000 kg (endurance is lost at a rate of 1 point per ten minutes of lifting). Using this vehicle decreases the operator’s Dexterity down to 1 automatically. The Powerloader provides armour to the operator on both sides and the back, leaving the front exposed and open to attack. The cage around the operator can block some physical attacks, using half the AV. To use a Powerloader takes 6 weeks of training: for every week of training yet to be completed, a -1 penalty must be taken into account for any task. (eg. Riley has four weeks of training with the Powerloader, and so incurs -2 on each task involving it).

XENOMORPHS The Alien is a common foe: it seems that wherever Mankind resides, the Alien will surely follow. Harvesting the living for incubators and feeding from the dead, an Aliens operate as one entity, moving towards the ultimate goal of total domination of whichever world or space station they are released on. Controlled by the all-powerful Alien Queen, these creatures know no fear; they keep advancing on their prey with a malevolence unrivalled by any other creature in the known universe, attacking as one. The Yautja are a different case all together. Travelling across the stars in their clan ships, they scour the universe for a quarry worthy of their time. Possessing advanced technology and strength rivalling that of the Alien, the Yautja rely on tactics and honour, while the Alien depends on animal ferocity.

PERSONALITY: To hunt Kainde Amedha is an honour, and to track the Pyobe Amedha as the same time is something far more. The skulls of warriors and oomans alike will surely bring favour with the Childbearers, and gain the chance at many matings. To return from the Hunt with the skull of the Lou-bte klaei Kainde Amedha, though, the child bearing hard meat, that would guarantee matings for years to come. They would sing songs of the battle, the tale recorded in vaults of the clan for eternity... I will earn it, though, earn the right to fight the mother of the hard meat. Follow the code, match prey weapon for weapon, ascend through the castes. Young though I may be, experience will bring it its own benefits. Soon I will have enough trophies to prove I can be a warrior: not just any, the greatest warrior ever known. PERSONALITY: The young Blooded do not know the dangers we face with this Hunt. Not only do we hunt the Kainde Amedha, we also know there to be Pyobe Amedha on the planet of the Short Rain. The more experienced of Warriors know that the Oomans are by no means an easy prey; we know the tales of Jungle Stalker and his defeat, or the expedition to the City of Fire which resulted in the death of Skull Claimer. Oomans are clever, and can be deadly. Even the Blooded, with their experience of the Hard Meat, don’t know what they face. Their hot-headed nature will result in many casualties if they do not keep their wits about them. Though a true Warrior knows better than to question a higher caste, especially an Elder, I wonder if old Gnarled Foot knows what he’s doing... PERSONALITY: Younglings. Pah. They think I don’t know what they call me behind my back. Gnarled Foot, Metal Leg... I am Yeyinde, Brave One, and the acid scaring of my foot proves it. Named after my Father, I wear my scars of battle with pride, just as he did: Different Knife, because of his broken mandible. Scars of battle against any prey can be as impressive as several trophy skulls, and tales of my battle against the child-bearing Hard Meat have only built upon my reputation. Visits to the Clan World bring invites from many potential breeders and admiring glances from fellow Yautja Hunters. Surely once I return from Short Rain with news of Hard Skull’s lost hunting party, with yet more trophies, more and more offers will come. YauTJa Weaponry SPEaR COMBI WEaPON: The primary weapon and the Hunter, the Spear can be used as both melee and ranged attacks. Favoured more for close combat, it's cutting edge can vary in style and size, depending upon the skill and ranking of the Hunter. A novice Hunter's spear would have a small blade, or maybe just a point, while a leader of a Pack could have a blade two foot long, with many prongs. The barbs themselves also vary in style and appearance, though they all have the same characteristics. Because of their design, the barbs act like armour piercing bullets, slicing straight through armour, flesh and bone. They can be retrieved from any scenery and reloaded into the cartridge that fits into the spear (one cartridge holds 32 barbs). Spear Blade D10 (5) x (Strength +1) Slashing Spear Gun Barb

CUTTING DISC: Held in a holster secured to the armour of the left thigh, the Cutting Disc is a discuss-like object with five holes in it, each tapered and measured for individual Hunters. Although the disc can be used handheld in a similar way to an axe head, it's intended purpose is to be thrown, in a similar way to the way aborigines use a boomerang. The advanced technology of the Hunters means the disc is filled with targeting computers linked in to the helmet's targeting system, navigation circuits and power couplings, which enable the disc to return to the operator, as well as a field generator which surrounds the blade with a small electrical field which enhances the cutting ability. WrIst BlaDES: The standard weapon of a Hunter to fall back on, the wrist blades of a Hunter can remain retracted in the right gauntlet until such a time arises when they are needed. The dual blades are constructed from a light titanium alloy, but are incredibly strong, and can tear through armour and most bulkheads. Used primarily for beginning the slow ritual of skinning prey, the wrist blades are also highly effective in combat, although their size does make them an extremely close-combat weapon. Only the most fearless and experienced Hunter will use these primarily as their weapon of choice.

SHOULDER CaNNoN: The most-used ranged weapon of the Clans, the shoulder mounted Plasma Cannon is a formidable weapon, who's limitations are only hampered by sight. Essentially, the Cannon is keyed in to head movements of the Hunter, though this function can be overridden. The basic premiss of the Mounted Cannon is that if the Hunter can see and target it, then the cannon will lock on, and will remain locked on until the target is either out of vision, or destroyed. It has no range other than vision, though isn't suited for sniping. This being said, sniping isn't the Hunters' style. Shoulder D10 x 8 (40) Cannon Cannon Range Vision-based Capacity

PlaSMaCasTER: The Plasmacaster is essentially a hand-held version of the Shoulder Cannon, though it isn't quite as powerful. It has a limited spread, similar to a shotgun. YauTJa aRMOUR HELMET: Made from a metal that can be found in abundance on one of the Clan Worlds, the Helmet is one of the Hunter's primary tools of hunt, giving it life support, as well as giving it the ability to see the world through a plethora of spectrums, including Ultra Violet, Infra Red, Electrical Pulses, and many more. Targeting with the built-in targeting system will only work on targets that visible with that particular type of vision: An alien can't be targeted in Infra Red, as it gives off no heat, though it's body does emit a large Electrical field. Likewise, a human in a heatproof suit won't be easy to spot, unless another vision preference is used. An undead may give of no heat, but depending upon resurrection techniques, may be rife with radiation. A seasoned hunter carefully selects what vision is best. Armour Value : Type 4

Body armour: The Predator isn't entirely armoured, it does have areas that remain vulnerable. Areas protected by armour include the feet and shins, upper thighs, forearms, shoulder and upper chest, and groin. This is an armour made on the Clan Worlds, and consequently is extremely strong, yet very light and durable. Armour Value : Type 3A

GaUNTLETS: The gauntlets have a number of different purposed. The right houses the Wrist blades, and also monitors the Hunters' vital stats, such as Heart rates, Pulses, etc. The left gauntlet is that which has the Wrist Launcher, as well as controls for altering the strength and settings of the weapons, visions and Mesh-suit. It also houses the detonation settings and device of the Warriors Death Knell, the Predator's ultimate last-resort weapon. Armour VAlue : Type 3 Warriors Death Knell Ground Zero

ShIft SUIT: The Predator's entire body is covered in a fine mesh, which offers little to no protection, but does have two purposes. It masks out the heat trace of the Predator itself from all sensors, and also is filled with Micro-Fibrous circuitry which alters and 'bends' the light, giving the Predator a shimmering, almost invisible effect. Hunting lore does dictate that some weapons can not be used while cloaked, including weapons like the Spear, the Plasmacaster, and the Shoulder Canon. Some Hunters, especially those that are under the supervision of mentors on Hunts, have their cloaking devices set to deactivate if these weapons are used. The cloaking field is also useless against the Aliens, as they track their prey by Pheromones. The mesh also help regulate body temperature.

RESPIRaTOR: Only designed for sort periods of use, and in no way intended to replace the ability of the Helmet, the Respirator feeds a direct supply of methane and nitrous oxide into the Hunter's system, simulating the environment of the home world.

MEDICaL KIT: Kept attached to the rear of the belt, the Medi-kit is a large collection of tools and apparatus that the Hunter can use to heal itself and remove any and all toxins. The only thing the Hunter must supply in addition to the contents of the medi kit is a good amount of solid matter that can be used to form a paste to quell blood loss and infection. This heals 7 life points per success level.

Notes: The Alien Larvae, commonly referred to a sa Facehugger, is a small, spider-like creature with a tail three foot in length. Able to leap great distances by using its tail as a powerful coiled spring, this creature knows only one purpose in life: to impregnate a target with its seed. When attacked by a Larvae, the target must succeed in a hard strength test in order to escape the grip of the creature. If they fail, the creature can attach itself and implant the seed of the alien in the chest cavity. After D10 hours, the creature falls off and dies, and a further D10 hours after this, the calf emerges from the host body. To remove the creature, a fourth level must be scored on the success table, using a roll of intelligence and any medical skills available combined with the bonus any available medical equipment. alIen HIve Structure

The structure of the Alien Hive is bizarre fusion of biological forms and mechanical shapes. The Alien creates this structure through secretion of a thick, resin-like drool which dries and hardens into a strong crystallised substance. The Hive has a number of functions, the first of which is immobilise potential hosts, fixing them to the walls of breeding chambers and ensuring they do not escape. The erratic nature of the structure often means that bodies must be broken and twisted to fit into the design, which is something the Alien is able to do without a second thought. To escape unaided from the Hive, a potential host must pass one hard strength test for each hour they have been imprisoned to break free from the cocoon. A second person may offer assistance, adding his own successful strength tasks to the count. The second function of the Hive is to provide an environment in which the Alien can thrive. Hollowed tubes and small chambers provide a basic heating system for the structure, but these tubes and conduits can also be used by the Alien to travel between areas. The appearance of the Hive also makes it possible for Aliens to blend in perfectly with the scenery, giving them a +7 to any stealth tasks while stationary, and +3 when moving. The Hive has an armour value of 15, a damage capacity of 50 per yard/ meter and a barrier value of 25.

THE LaZaRUs Spawn The Lazarus Project took the somewhat controversial work of Doctor Bellmore several steps further than what had been possible within Grant Pharmaceuticals. His work with Alien DNA and genomes was frowned upon mainly as his work started so soon after the collapse and reclaim of Earth, but he was convinced that his work would be of benefit to mankind, especially with the store of pure Royal Jelly they held. When his experiments turned to experimenting on dead humans and combining them with reconstituted Alien DNA, Grant Pharmaceuticals had no choice but to terminate his employment. Though Weyland Yutani publicly applauded Grant for firing Bellmore, upholding their public image of ‘Loathing the Alien’, they secretly admired the man’s work, and were interested in the potential profits of his claims: enhanced soldiers, unstoppable killers, and the promise of a tame Alien creature that a man could control. As highly improbable as his claims were, early experiments with dead tissue and infusions of Royal Jelly provided startling results, and the Corporate Directors agreed that with the right resources to hand, they would get the results they desired within a few years. After all, Weyland Yutani had a vested interest in the Marines, and a more efficient killer would certainly be beneficial to them. Once Braxis’ World had been colonised, Bellmore and his team moved in almost instantly, and the results were startling. By taking dead bodies and flushing their systems with the compound La2ArUS, a mix of various chemicals and pure Royal Jelly, it was discovered that a normal Alien Larvae could infect a dead body; even a decapitated corpse proved no problem, as long as the spinal column was intact. The ramifications of this alone were astounding; decades of study of Alien biology had shown that it needed living and organic material to sustain the young creature during the ingestion stage. The dead hosts didn’t remain corpselike for long, either. As the Alien seed developed, it wrapped itself around the spinal cord of the host body, the mix of chemicals and Jelly mutating it into another stage in the alien life cycle. The seed seemed to tap into the central nervous system and could actually control the body, while the strange mix of chemicals promoted mutations within the body itself. Organic material became fused with mechanical elements, creating a twisted bio-mechanoid entity similar in appearance to the Alien and its hive structure. The Chestburster would only burst from the body upon destruction of the hosts spine, and then go on to mutate into an Alien strain never yet encountered. This new subspecies, neither living nor dead, became known as the Lazarus Spawn, and the potential of the creature excited the Directors of Weyland Yutani more than anything had before. As the experiments progressed, and results continued to come in reporting of the superb process of the project... ...Transmissions suddenly ceased.

As the mutated cells of the Lazarus Spawn work their way through the host, the body becomes twisted and deformed, taking on many visual characteristics of an Alien Warrior, each host mutating in a different way. The combination of chemicals in the host’s bloodstream goes some way towards neutralising the acidic qualities of the Alien blood.

Weapons Note: As the body absorbs the weapons and armour the host would carry or wear, the Lazarus Spawn quickly reforms them to operate on an organic level, the body providing them with an organic substitute for ammunition or protection. These Bio-mech weapons can include, but are not limited to, the following: Bio-mech Armour Plates - Standard Marine protection that has fused to the skin of the Lazarus carrier, this crystallised compound can add an extra D12+4 points worth of armour protection. Bio-mech Bile Projector - Constructed from the infused case of an M240 Incinerator, this projectile can hurl a stream of acidic bile a distance of 1/5/9/10/20, and can cause D8x2 Chemical Damage. The strength of this concentrated liquid can effectively half the points of any armour it comes into contact with. Bio-mech Cyst Rifle - The Cyst Rifle is based on any rapid-firing projectile-firing weapon, and is modified to fire a stream of 9mm cysts that are produced within the host body. These cysts act like regular 9mm bullets, and are produced automatically and stored in sacs of 100, normally near the gun appendage itself. The body can create 100 cysts in a little under 5 minutes. Bio-mech Webbing Cannon - Based on the Dogchopper shotgun, this device can fire a web of resinous material over a distance of 1/2/3/4/6, which instantly encumbers the target 2 levels upon a successful strike. Each resultant shot further encumbers the target by one level, until he or she is incapacitated. No damage is given directly by this shot. Bio-mech Exoskeleton - Any Lazarus-infected humans attached to a powerloader at the time ot mutation absorbs the mechanical exoskeleton, enhancing their strength by 4, gaining an extra 20 dead points, and adding Class III armour to their torso and limbs. Their mobility and speed are seriously decreased by this addition (see powerloader stats). Bio-mech Enhanced Vision - The infusion of video recording equipment and cameras enables the Lazarus Spawn human to be able to see in a variety of different spectrums, as well as interfere with radio signals. It is not unknown for Lazarus Spawn Humans to grow tails or other Alien appendages during the transformation. The appendages can cause the same damage as their alienbased counterparts.

LaZaRUs Spawn YauTJa

Already a formidable hunter and killer, a Yautja infected with the seed of the Alien only has these natural instincts magnified tenfold by the mutant embryo. As the corruption of the parasite spreads, the Yautja becomes fused with any hunting gear it may carry at the point of infection, many elements of it’s offensive array of weaponry taking on a bio-mechnical appearance and trait. As their body and metabolism are vastly different to a human, they do not take on as much of the Alien’s appearance, though they can take on the same traits.

Weapons Note: As the body absorbs the weapons and armour the host would carry or wear, the Lazarus Spawn quickly reforms them to operate on an organic level, the body providing them with an organic substitute for ammunition or protection. Lazarus Spawn Bio-mech Metal Hide : As with the human Lazarus Spawn, the toughened armour plating worn by the predators are absorbed as crystalline cysts around the body, providing (D6 x 2) + 9(15) points of armour protection. Bio-mech Plasm Cannon : Firing 3-shot salvos of neon-blue organic plasm, each shot costs three essence points and can cause D8 x 2(8) points of damage, with D4(2) points of splash damage within one yard of impact. Bio-mech Calcium Blades : Wrist blades absorbed by the body and converted into a metallic bone extension of the arm, these blades are armour-piercing and cause D10x2(10) x strength points of damage with a single slash. Unlike the suit of armour worn by normal Yautja, these can not be retracted into the flesh of the Spawn. Bio-mech Skullblade : Based on the Cutting Disc, this compressed plate of cartilage and nerve tissue is like a living extension of the Spawn, and homes in on its targets with deadly accuracy. Vibrating the tiny cartilage teeth surrounding the edge, this can chew its way through D10(5) x Intelligence worth of damage. Bio-mech Mucus : Working on a similar principle to the Net Gun, the mucus launched from the nozzle of this weapon incapacitates the prey by inflicting D12(6) points of endurance damage upon contact, and D8(4) points per turn after that as it begins to shrink and harden around the target. One shot from this costs 2 essence points. Bio-mech War Scythe :The organic equivalent of the Warblades, these scythe-like blades of bone can cleave through almost any substance by excreting a powerful acid through tiny pores running the length of the sharpened edge. Any armour is effectively zero against it, and they cause D12(6) x Strength+1 damage, with extra chemical damage of D6(3) for three turns of combat. Bio-mech Critical Splash : A far less-impressive biological alternative to the devastating Warriors Death Knell, activation of this organic device floods internal cavities of the Spawn with a volatile mix of carbonates and acids, the results of which is an acidic shower over a 10 yard radius, inflicting D6x2(6) damage for D12+5(11) turns.

LaZaRUs Spawn calf Once they have been forced from their host body, the ‘Spawn Calf’ must eat approximately 180 pounds of food to grow to an adult warrior. Unlike the normal Calf, which requires living tissue, the ‘Spawn Calf’ can gain the nutrients it needs from anything in it’s surrounding environment: meat, bone, gristle, metal, rock, earth, it can digest and absorb anything it can eat. It only differs in appearance to a normal ‘Chestburster’ as its skin is a pale grey-blue colour. As with the Spawn hosts, the acidic qualities of its blood are drastically reduced due to the mix of chemicals in the bloodstream. Strength

LaZaRUs Spawn WarrIor As the Calf grows and matures it evolves into the ‘Spawn Warrior’, which again differs in appearance only though colour; the resinous carapace of this creature is a muddy bluegrey colour, and it gives off a faint luminous glow which can only be seen by the naked eye in total darkness. This unearthly glow comes from the cocktail of various chemicals that still linger in its metabolism from the host body. Lazarus Warriors have also demonstrated the fact they operate on an individual, animalistic level. While the normal species of Alien seem to rally around the Queen, reacting to silent orders given by her, the Lazarus Spawn seem to act on its own initiative, though it can work in a team with fellow Lazarus Spawn. As with the normal breed of Alien, the Lazarus Spawn Warrior is able to create the same Hive Structure. Strength Intelligence Dead Points Attack

LaZaRUs Spawn Queen As with the Warrior, the queen is a muddy blue-grey colour, with a slight luminous glow created by the chemicals of the host it was previously infused with. Rendered infertile herself, the Lazarus Queen still has a strong maternal instinct, leading to her conducting raids on Alien breeding grounds to obtain her own eggs. The Lazarus Queen has the ability to seep an organic variant of the synthetic La2ArUS compound from her pores, meaning she is able to infect dead bodies with the reviving liquid to spread her own creed. Though the Lazarus Queen does not posses the same physical strength as the Alien Queen, it is faster, more agile and incredibly resistant to all forms of attack, making a much tougher creature to eliminate. Braxis’ World is a harsh and arid planet, with little to offer the casual prospector. With ore samples showing a high contents of impurities, unbreathable atmosphere and harsh weather conditions that ravaged the surface of the planet, word was put out by Weyland Yutani that the planet was nothing more than a chunk of useless rock floating in the void. A planet with no natural resources held no commercial interest for the multibillion dollar company, and it was passed by in the initial survey reports of its system. That was the story released to the public; however, the truth was very different. Years before the survey, a small band of raiders and pirates had set up base on the planet, a makeshift port that acted as a go-between for illegal trade and the black market, and a base of operations for many plunderers in the sector. Their base, located beneath the thick crust in a mountainous area of the planet, provided protection from the elements and a safe, sealed environment to work and trade from. Spanning seven subterranean levels, the base was roughly square in shape, each floor the same size with the exception of the topmost floor, and each level had its own specific purpose: the lowest level hosed the machinery and power generators required to sustain an environment in the enclosed station, and the one above that used as an equipment store. The fifth and fourth levels were used as bunks and barracks, while the third was used as the control deck, where he base was run from. Trade and deals were conducted on the second level of the base, and the topmost level acted as the actual port for the base, a large expanse that had been cut out the side of the mountain at an angle and able to hold a large number of flying machines. Unknown to the raiders, the planet was used as a hunting ground to train younger clan members of the roaming Yautja tribes, an ideal location for accustoming them to harsh elements and unfriendly environments. When the presence of the human colony was revealed to them, their training missions were scrapped for blooding ceremonies, and the Aliens were released on the world, infiltrating the underground layer and drawing all three species into a bloody conflict that ended in victory for the Alien. Some hunters and raiders Ben Black LXI

fell in battle, others fled the planet, and few survived, while the Alien claimed the underground base as its own, spreading the hive within it and causing a massive infestation. It was this infestation that caught the attention of the biological weapons division of Weyland Yutani in a scan of the planet, which led to the terraforming of the planet. Terraforming a planet wasn’t an easy or cheap process, and something that was reported in financial reports released each quarter: Supporters of the company with a loathing of the Alien creatures would pull their financial backing if they knew of the involvement of the parasitic creature before results were ready to be released, and so the colonisation of the planet needed to be kept low-key. But how could a piece of terraforming equipment such as an atmosphere processor, costing hundreds of millions of dollars, be set up on a planet without shareholders knowing the truth? Cargo ships filled with all the buildings and equipment required to terraform an environment were often targeted by raiders, mostly for much saught-after hydrogen fuel cells, and it wasn’t hard for the company to fake the loss of one or two ships in the depths of space: these would be investigated to a lesser extent when compared to an entire processing set-up disappearing. And so the processing station was set up dangerously close to the already-established hive, sitting in the depths of a rocky region called the Devil’s Teeth, the same area that had once served as the battleground to a bloody war. With canyons leading away from site in many directions, it is possible to access almost any area of the planet from that central hub, though why anyone would want to take to the canyons was uncertain: Most regions of the planet were dry and desert-like, the mountains acting like a refuge, an island in a sea of dust and craters. With no plant or animal life, other than the Aliens in their cavern, here wasn’t any need to leave the confines of the base. The colony itself comprised of the atmosphere processor: a massive structure that climbed over thirty levels into the air and had roots another eight levels beneath the ground, linking directly to the hive by a tunnel carved out the rock on the lowest level. This tunnel was constantly under guard by a number of soldiers and automated defences. Above ground, three larger outer buildings had been erected around the perimeter, and were connected by a ten-foot high storm-wall: a three-story building to the north of the compound acted as the main gate and hanger for any vehicles, while a building of equal proportions sat to the south of the compound, this one used by many of the colonists as their residence. The third building, in the centre of the perimeter, was the main base of operations for the colony, a five-story mixture of machinery and controls. Within the walls of the compound there was a number of makeshift buildings and cargo storage pods, including three bars and a strip club that had been set up. Further details of the colony are classified.

appendIx Skills/ Special Augments: Created Specifically for this scenario: Mother Knows Best +8 A special brand of intelligence shared by the Alien, this version of a Hive Mind allows Aliens to sense what each other experiences, using the Queen as a central communication hub. As an extension to this, the creatures also have a genetic memory, meaning that each creature is born with the same knowledge as the latter. Elite Strength +12 An enhancement of the Monstrous strength aspect (AFMBE, page 151), the creature imbued with this strength quality is quite capable of rending flesh, bone, concrete and steel. Crushing a skull is no problem for anything with this level of strength as its joints, even finger joints, are as strong as pneumatic pistons. Strength +10 Unnatural Strength +13, And you thought Elite Strength was tough! Making the tough impossibly tougher, this knocks the strength of the creature up to a level unheard of, making it a rarity to behold and something few would live to tell the tale of. Strength +15 Rule books/ Supplements Used: All Flesh Must Be Eaten: Core Rule book - You need it to play it. If you haven’t got it, go buy it. If you already have it, buy another copy. All Flesh Must Be Eaten: Atlas Of The Dead - Mainly for the natural Armour aspect, but a damn fine read, none the less. Source books I would have liked to use but couldn’t: All Flesh Must Be Eaten: All Tomorrows Zombies - I really don’t know if this physically exists yet or not... It’s a bit like the Matrix, where there is no spoon. It’s a little like the Holy Grail. Other Sources of Information: Aliens - Colonial Marines Technical Handbook - Like a bible for the Marine technology. Aliens vs. Predator novels: Prey, Hunters Planet and War - Pretty good novels, let me build on the knowledge and background of the Predators a little. Nice one. Thanks and Big Cheesy Grins To: Jack Daniels - For giving me that incentive and edge I needed at half one in the morning sometimes. Jim Beam - A close friend of Captain Jack.
