Bulletin 34.3:4100Z
April 2000
Type 4100Z Wizard I Gauge Pressure Controller The Type 4100Z Wizard I pneumatic controller combines a simple principle of operation and few moving parts with a rugged construction to make an ideal pressure controller for demanding installations.
Features Corrosion Resistant Latch and Hinges —Nylon shoulder bearings and stainless steel hinge pins eliminate metal-to-metal contact and prevent corrosion of moving parts Easy to Maintain —Deep-shelled cover allows easy access to all parts for adjustment or routine maintenance inspection Easy to Adjust —Controlled —Controlled pressure setting is a single knob adjustment. The proportional band is ad-
justed fulcrum pin along a graduated scale. by moving the fulcrum Easy to Reverse —Just move the orifice block block and fulcrum pin to the opposite side of the flapper and rotate each 180 degrees

Construction Features Refer to figure 3. This proportional controller, when used with suitable control valves, maintains a controlled pressure within a set range. This control range is called the proportional band and may be defined as the change in controlled pressure required to cause a full change in controller output pressure. For example, a controller with a Bourdon tube rated at 6.9 bar (100 psig) is yoke-mounted on a direct-acting control valve which is i s maintaining downstream pressure at 3.4 bar (50 psig). A proportional band adjustment of 2 percent causes the valve plug to close at 3.5 bar (51 psig) and completely open at 3.3 bar (49 psig). With proportional band set at 50 percent, the valve plug reaches the closed position at 5.2 bar (75 psig) controlled pressure and the wide open position at 1.7 bar (25 psig). psi g).

clean, dry air or non-corrosive gas. If the supply gas is flammable or noxious, the controller must be located in in a well-ventilated non-hazardous area.
Ordering Information When ordering, please specify the following:
Overpressure Protection
1. Complete controller type number
To avoid personal injury and equipment damage, do not exceed the pressure limitations stated for each respective unit in the system. Pressure ratings are stamped on the instruction plate and Bourdon tube. The regulator pressure ratings are stamped on the regulator spring case. If supply or inlet pressures can exceed any of the pressure limitations, overpressure protection, such as a relief valve, is necessary.
2. Bourdon tube material 3. Process pressure range 4. Process set point 5. Desired output signal and action 6. Orifice size (if actuator requirements are known)
Installation Controller dimensions are shown in figure 4. The 4. The controller can be remote-mounted or ordered as part of a control valve assembly. The supply medium must be
