Preface
1 Preface Nokia Siemens Networks TransConnect is the software product providing the file and Web server solution for creating new services in an existing Nokia Siemens Networks hiT 7300 and SURPASS hiT 7500 optical transport network (hereinafter referred to as hiT 7300 and hiT 75 00) that was already setup with Nokia Siemens Networks TransNet. The file server makes a centralized repository of project files available and the We b server hosts the easy-to-use Nokia Siemens Networks TransConnect graphical user interface (GUI), a cloud computing Web application for planning channel upgrades in an existing optical network. Nokia Siemens Networks TransConnect provides the server software required for the following configurations (see chapter 3 Installation for details): – Nokia Siemens Networks TransConnect Web server configuration – Nokia Siemens Networks TransNet client/server configuration The license file to be installed on the server (see section 2.3 Nokia Siemens Networks TransConnect license file) decides for which configuration Nokia Siemens Networks TransConnect can be used. This manual describes the Nokia Siemens Networks TransConnect software installation, uninstallation and upgrade procedure. It describes also the remaining post-installation steps necessary to setup the Web server. This chapter describes the audience, structure, conventions, history of changes and prerequisites of the Nokia Siemens Networks TransConnect Installation Manual for Windows.

Intended audience This manual addresses customers or Nokia Siemens Networks staff whose task is to perform Nokia Siemens Networks TransConnect software installation on the Microsoft Windows operating system. This manual is only relevant for the A350 and A360 software variants (see section 1.5 Nokia Siemens Networks TransNet / TransConnect version and software variants).

The manuals are delivered as part of the Nokia Siemens Networks TransNet / TransConnect documentation set. The help system and videos are delivered together with the Nokia Siemen s Networks TransNet software. The following operating documentation parts are available: • Nokia Siemens Networks TransNet Installation Manual addresses customers or Nokia Siemens Networks staff whose task is to perform the Nokia Siemens Networks TransNet software installation. • Nokia Siemens Networks TransNet User Manual gives an overview of the functionality and the necessary steps to perform the individual tasks with Nokia Siemens Networks TransNet. In general, the details of operation in terms of working with the graphical user interface (GUI), the description of the GUI itself and the parameters are out o f scope of this manual bu t covered instead in the Nokia Siemens Networks TransNet help system. Preface
Nokia Siemens Networks TransNet help system gives users detailed step-by-step instructions for the tasks to perform with the Nokia Siemens Networks TransNet GUI and includes context-sensitive help on windowlevel, that is, for dialog boxes, wizard pages, editor and views. The help system can be called from the Help menu and is displayed in an Help browser window of its own. Nokia Siemens Networks TransNet videos demonstrate the individual steps of a workflow showing how a certain step can be performed with the Nokia Siemens Networks TransNet GUI. A video presents a screen capture of the G UI, the interaction of a user with the GUI and is supplemented with text boxes, for example, to introduce the individual workflow steps. A set of greenfield planning workflow videos for different node types are available. The videos can be called from the help system: The “Tutorials and workflows” help book has individual help topics for every video. A video is realized as Flash animation and is shown in the same Help browser also used for displaying the help system topics.

Nokia Siemens Networks TransNet / TransConnect version and software variants The version number together with the software variant identifier (ID) uniquely identify the Nokia Siemens Networks TransNet / TransConnect software. The complete Nokia Siemens Networks TransNet and TransConnect version is composed of the main version part (for example, “8.10”), the optional minor (or maintenance) version part (“25”) followed by the build number (“37”), for example, 8.10.25 Build 37. Both Nokia Siemens Networks TransNet and TransConnect are available in different software variants. Software variants exist to distinguish the common base and the customized version, which, for example, provides functionality for planning transientproof networks. 2 Prerequisites This chapter summarizes the prerequisites that must be fulfilled in order to install and use Nokia Siemens Networks TransConnect.
2.1
Server hardware prerequisites To install and run Nokia Siemens Networks TransConnect as server, the following hardware requirements must be met: • Central processing unit (CPU): Intel® Core™ Duo or compatible with 32-bit or 64-bit architecture and with 1.5 Gigahertz processor clock speed each • Random access memory (RAM): 4 GigaByte (GB) for 32-bit architecture and 8 GB for 64-bit architecture
2.2
Server software prerequisites To install and run Nokia Siemens Networks TransConnect as server, the following software requirements must be met: • Operating system: – Windows Server 2008 (32-bit architecture) – Windows Server 2008 (64-bit architecture) • FTP server software: An FTP serv er must be installed and running in order to use the Nokia Siemens Networks TransConnect functionality to upload NCFs. The FTP server must be configured by creating at least an FTP server user account with appropriate access rights. It is recommended to use one FTP user account (named "transconnect") for all Nokia Siemens Networks TransConnect users. • Nokia Siemens Networks TransNet / TransConnect software versions: Nokia Siemens Networks TransNet and Nokia Siemens Networks TransConnect must be used always in the same main version 8.10 if projects on the server are accessed by both products. • Certificate for secure connection to the Web server by HTTPS: To prepare a Web server to accept secure connections by Hypertext Transfer Protocol Secure (HTTPS) a public-key certificate must be stored on the Web server. This certificate must be signed by a certificate authority (CA), for example, VeriSign, Inc. or Thawte, Inc.. The CA certifies that the certificate holder is indeed the entity it claims to be. A Web browser uses this certificate to validate that the Web server is authentic: When a user connects to a Web server by typing https://... in the Web browser's address field and the browser gives no certificate warning message, then the user can be sure that interacting with the Web server is equivalent to interacting with the entity. The Nokia Siemens N etworks TransConnect installer expects that the certificate file is already available under the name jboss.keystore . The certificate file is requested

during Nokia Siemens Networks TransConnect installation (see section 3.1 Installing the software). If the certificate file is not available during installation the corresponding installer step can be skipped and the file can be copied later manually to this directory. Refer to section 7.1 Creating an SSL certificate file for HTTPS connection for information on how to create this certificate file and to copy the file to the required directory.

Nokia Siemens Networks TransConnect license file You can connect or log on to the Nokia Siemens Networks TransConnect server only, if a valid license file is available on the computer running the Nokia Siemens Networks TransConnect software. To use Nokia Siemens Networks TransConnect as server in a client/server configuration, the license file must contain the "TransConnect TN Server" feature license. To use Nokia Siemens Networks TransConnect as server in a Web server configuration, the license file must contain user, project and network element (NE) specific feature licenses. To order the license file, open the license key request file (in HTML format) that is delivered with the Nokia Siemens Networks TransConnect software. Type the required information and click Send. This causes an E-mail to be sent to the software supply center that will send you back the license file. For demonstration purposes only, a so called Demo license is available. With an installed Demo license a Nokia Siemens Networks TransConnect user can w ork only with a project that contains a maximum of 10 nodes. The license file is requested during Nokia Siemens Networks TransConnect installation (see section 3.1 Installing the software). The installer copies this file to the following directory: \jboss\server\ default\conf\

Client hardware prerequisites For a computer accessing the Nokia Siemens Networks TransConnect Web server as client by a Web browser, the following hardware requirements must be met: • Central processing unit (CPU): Intel® Pentium® IV or compatible with 2 Gigahertz processor clock speed • Random access memory (RAM): 1 GigaByte (GB) • Monitor: 14" display size and 1024 x 768 resolution (19" display size and 1280 x 1024 is recommended)

Windows XP Service Pack 3 – Windows Vista – Windows 7 Web browser: – Internet Explorer 6 – Internet Explorer 7 Web browser configuration: • To prevent that a file download from the server is blocked (during generation of NCFs and reports) make sure that in the Internet Explorer the “Automatic prompting for file downloads” is enab led. • To prevent that opening a file from the server is blocked (for example, while downloading an HTML file from the server) make sure that the server name (or server IP address) is made an exception for any installed pop-up blocker software. • To make sure that a file generated by the server (a report) is displayed with the appropriate application, the corresponding Multipurpose Internet Mail Extensions (MIME) types must be configured. Reports are generated by the Nokia Siemens Networks TransConnect server either in PDF or CSV format. • To increase the number o f files you can download at one time with Internet Explorer 6 or 7 from (the default value) 2 to 10 install the fix available as part of the Microsoft knowledge base (KB) article 282402 available under http://support.microsoft.com/kb/282402. This will improve Nokia Siemens Networks TransConnect performance significantly when handlig projects with a huge amount of nodes • To enable the correct display of animated parts in the Nokia Siemens Networks TransConnect GUI (progress bars) make sure that playing an imations in the Internet Explorer is enabled. The computer having the Nokia Siemens Networks TransConnect software installed and configured acts as file and Web server. It provides a repo sitory of project files created and shared on the server by Nokia Siemens Networks TransNet users (file server functionality). In addition it hosts the No kia Siemens Networks TransConnect Web application (Web server functionality). In this configuration, a user accesses the server by a Web browser displaying the Nokia Siemens Networks TransConnect graphical user interface (GUI). There is no need for any software installation on the client side. The purpose of the Web server configuration is to allow different Nokia Siemens Networks TransConnect users to access and work on the same set of project files on the server simultaneously (in live-impact mode). The Nokia Siemens Networks TransConnect GUI is an an easy-to-use planning application for creating new services in an existing network.

Proceed as follows for realizing the Nokia Siemens Networks TransConnect Web server configuration: 1. Installing the software (see section 3.1) Install the software as Windows administrator on the computer acting as server. 2. The purpose of this configuration is to allow different Nokia Siemens Networks TransNet users to access the same set of project files. The projects on the server are stored under version control. Proceed as follows for realizing the Nokia Siemens Networks TransNet client/server configuration: 1. Installing the software (see section 3.1) Install the software as Windows administrator on the computer acting as server. It is recommended to install Nokia Siemens Networks TransConnect on a dedicated computer acting as server for multiple clients. 2. Starting the Nokia Siemens Networks TransConnect server (see section 3.2) 3. Configuring a firewall (see section 3.3) This is necessary to enable the access for Nokia Siemens Networks TransNet users when the Nokia Siemens N etworks TransNet client accesses the server across multiple networks. A client computer that should access the server, must have the Nokia Siemens Networks TransNet software installed (refer to the Nokia Siemens Networks TransNet Installation Manual). The administration of the server (for example, user administration and project file handling) is performed with the Nokia Siemens Networks TransNet software (refer to the Nokia Siemens Networks TransNet help system for details).
3.1
Installing the software Due to security reasons Nokia Siemens Networks TransConnect must be installed in a way that the Nokia Siemens Networks TransConnect server as Windows service is not started under the h igh privilege level of the predefined Windows LocalSystem account. To achieve this, the Windows user ac count “TC_USER” is created at the end of the Nokia Siemens Networks TransConnect installation. Under this user account the Nokia Siemens Networks TransConnect server is started. The “TC_USER” password is defined during installation and is requested when the Nokia Siemens Networks TransConnect server is started (see section 3.2 Starting the Nokia Siemens Networks TransConnect server ). As the creation of a Windows user account with appropriate access rights is performed during installation, the Nokia Siemens Networks TransConnect installation wizard must be run under a Windows administrator account with the following access rights: • Create a user account • Assign the user right “L og on as a service” to a user account • Assign read, execute and write permission for a drive/directory used as Nokia Siemens Networks TransConnect installation directory (for example, C:\ ) You can install multiple Nokia Siemens Networks TransConnect software versions at the same time on your computer - but only one version can be active at a time. With the Nokia Siemens Networks TransConnect software the following software components are installed: • JBoss application server as server • Apache Derby as database • Nokia Siemens Networks TransConnect server application To install the Nokia Siemens Networks TransConnect software on the server proceed as follows: Log on as Windows administrator with the access rights listed above.

From the Nokia Siemens Networks TransConnect software CD-ROM or from a copy on your computer’s hard disk d ouble-click the TransConnect_.exe file to start the installation. Confirm the Windows User Account Control message box to allow the installation wizard to run on your computer. After the installation wizard has finished the preparation, the Introduction page opens (see Figure 3).

Click Next to proceed. The License Agreement page opens displaying terms of license agreement.

main version 8.10 installed and running on your computer, you are first requested to stop the server (with the Stop service message box) before you can proceed. To avoid data loss, it is strongly recommended to follow the upgrade procedure in chapter 5 Upgrade if an older Nokia Siemens Networks TransConnect software is installed on your computer with a database you want to m igrate to the new version. Click I accept the terms of the License Agreement if you agree, and click Next. The Choose Install Folder page opens displaying the d efault installation directory (see Figure 4).

Click one of the available buttons to select the method Nokia Siemens Networks TransConnect is to be started and stopped, for example, by an entry in one of the Start menu folders or by a desktop icon. The installer proposes the following shortcut folder in the Windows home directory for all users: %ALLUSERSPROFILE%\Start Menu\Nokia Siemens Networks\Nokia Siemens Networks TransConnect

Do not select the same shortcut folder location as used for an old Nokia Siemens Networks TransConnect software version still installed. Not adding a valid certificate file for the domain/host Nokia Siemens Networks TransConnect is installed will result in a Web browser warning message on an unsigned certificate (based on the browser security settings) when a u ser tries to connect to the Web server by HTTPS (see also section 3.4 Administering users with Nokia Siemens Networks TransConnect). Click to select Yes and click Next to proceed. In the following page type the path name of the certificate file named jboss.keystore or click Choose to display a dialog box for selecting this file. Click Next to proceed. The Choose Datastore Folder page (see Figure 8) opens asking you whether you want to take over the d atabase of an old Nokia Siemens Networks TransConnect installation to your new installation.

selected installation directory including the removal of a database still present from a previous Nokia Siemens Networks TransConnect installation. In this page you d efine the default server administrator account and the corresponding password to access the server database. Use this account in the Nokia Siemens Networks TransConnect Login page to logon the first time to a new ly installed server (see section 3.4 Administering users with Nokia Siemens Networks TransConnect). The password is only accepted if it meets a set of password policy requirements such as minimum password length and password complexity. In the input fields, type the account n ame, the password and re-type the password.

Even as the password is not validated in the installation wizard, it is highly recommended due to general security reasons to only select a secure password. That means, the password construction must be complex enough to avoid use of passwords that are easily guessed.

In this page you define the password of the “TC_USER” user account that will be created at the en d of the installation. This password will be requested when you start the Nokia Siemens Networks TransConnect server (see section 3.2 Starting the Nokia Siemens Networks TransConnect server ). The password must met the password policy requirements valid for your computer regarding minimum password length, password complexity and password history requirements.

The password policy requirements will be not validated in this installation wizard. However, an invalid password typed here prevents the creation of the “TC_USER” user account and results in a warning message at the end of the installation. In the input fields, type the password and re-type the password. Click Next to proceed. The Pre-Installation Summary page opens displaying the summary of the selected installation options. Click Install to start the installation process. The Installing page opens displaying information on the ongoing installation process. After software installation is finished the “TC_USER” user account will be created.

If the Windows user creation fails, you will be informed with a warning message box. In such a case, it will be not possible to start the Nokia Siemens Networks TransConnect server. One possible solution is to create the “TC_USER” account manually under an administrator account having the required access rights (see section 6.1 Windows account TC_USER cannot be created during installation). After the installation process has been finished, the Install Complete page opens informing you on whether Nokia Siemens Networks TransConnect was installed successfully on your computer.

In case of an installation error you get an information displayed to check the installation log file. Click Done to quit the installation wizard. In case of an installation error open the following installation log file in a text editor: \ Nokia_Siemens_Networks_TransConnect__InstallLog.log
Search the file for the installation error or warning. If you cannot solve the problem, contact the Nokia Siemens Networks technical support department.

In case the installation was aborted without creating the installation log file in the installation directory, the file is created on the desktop. Log off as Windows administrator. All the following tasks can be performed under a non-administrator account.
3.2
Starting the Nokia Siemens Networks TransConnect server The Nokia Siemens Networks TransConnect server can be started just like any comparable Windows application, for example, by the appropriate entry in the Start menu folder. The method on h ow to start Nokia Siemens Networks TransConnect has been determined during installation (see section 3.1 Installing the software, step 7). The following assumes that you selected the default shortcut folder during installation. To start the Nokia Siemens Networks TransConnect server proceed as follows: Click Start menu > Nokia Siemens Networks menu > Nokia Siemens Networks TransConnect program group > Start Server command.

Confirm all Windows User Acc ount Control message boxes displayed during this procedure to allow the commands to run on your computer. The Nokia Siemens Networks TransConnect service starter message box opens displaying ongoing information on the different steps during the server start. While this message box stays on your screen you are requested with the Password message box to type the password o f the “TC_USER” user account (see section 3.1 Installing the software, step 14). In the Password message box, type the password and click OK to close the message box. The success of the server start is indicated by the Info message box (displaying JBoss started).

If an Error message box opens instead, one of the prerequisites for starting the server is not fulfilled. Correct the problem described in the message box. Then try again with the Start Server command. Click OK to close the Info message box.

Configuring a firewall The following ports are used for the communication between the Nokia Siemens Networks TransConnect server and the Nokia Siemens Networks TransNet client and have to be e nabled in all affected firewalls when you are working in a con figuration across multiple networks: • TCP port 1098 • TCP port 1099 • TCP port 3873 When you run Nokia Siemens Networks TransConnect server a connection from a Nokia Siemens Networks TransNet client to the server is possible only if the Windows internal firewall of the server is configured for mutual access using JNP (java network protocol). The following program must be enabled in the Windows firewall: \jdk\bin\ java.exe

The required Windows firewall administration steps are maybe slightly different depending on your Windows v ersion. The following procedure describes the required firewall properties - but gives only a b rief outline in how to set these properties based on Windows XP Professional. Call the help system. On the header, click Help. A new Internet Explorer window opens displaying context-sensitive help for the page currently displayed in Nokia Siemens Networks TransConnect (the All Projects page in the example shown in Figure 12). Click Show Navigation at the top of a context-sensitive help page to extend the page with the Nokia Siemens Networks TransConnect help system table of contents. The help system provides step-by-step descriptions for the tasks to be performed with Nokia Siemens Networks TransConnect. Create users. Create a user name and a password for every Nokia Siemens Networks TransConnect user that should log on to the server. Nokia Siemens Networks TransConnect supports the following three user types: Operator, Supervisor and Administrator. The user access rights on the server are administered by assigning a suitable pe rmission (Operation, Supervision or Administration) to a user name. As password for a newly created user you create a random string by resetting the password.

Sharing projects with Nokia Siemens Networks TransNet Nokia Siemens Networks TransConnect users cannot create new projects - they can only work with existing projects. All the projects that are intended for modification by a Nokia Siemens Networks TransConnect user must be shared on the server. The project files must be shared from a computer having the Nokia Siemens Networks TransNet software installed. Refer to the Nokia Siemens Networks TransNet Installation Manual for information on how to install the Nokia Siemens Networks TransNet software. For sharing projects perform the following steps with Nokia Siemens Networks TransNet: Create a remote location. Create the Nokia Siemens Networks TransConnect server as remote location. Use for authorization the logon information of one of the users created before on the server (see section 3.4 Administering users with Nokia Siemens Networks TransConnect).

Share projects. The projects to be shared must be available in the workspace specified during Nokia Siemens Networks TransNet software installation. Before you share a project, you should check the project content regarding the following issues: • Make sure that every node in the project has valid equipment. In Nokia Siemens Networks TransNet’s Equipment perspective the Network editor displays differently colored node status icons to reflect the equipment status. Only "green" nodes indicate that the equipment is valid. For all other colored nodes (“gray“, blue”, “yellow” and especially “red”) you have to change the node's equipment status in order to turn them to "green". • Make sure that the commissioning status settings reflect the installation status of the network i n reality. Take special care in checking all commissioning status values assigned to optical multiplex sections (OMS), connections and equipment items. For detailed information on performing these - and other related - tasks refer to the Nokia Siemens Networks TransNet help system.

An alternative way to provide individual project files on the server is to upload them by using the Nokia Siemens Networks TransConnect Web GUI (see also section 3.4 Administering users with Nokia Siemens Networks TransConnect). 4 Uninstallation This chapter contains the software uninstallation procedure.
4.1
Uninstalling the software

The Nokia Siemens Networks TransConnect database is kept when uninstalling Nokia Siemens Networks TransConnect. To re-use the database during the installation of a new Nokia Siemens Networks TransConnect software version follow the upgrade procedure described in chapter 5 Upgrade. The following procedure assumes that you selected the default shortcut folder during installation. To uninstall the Nokia Siemens Networks TransConnect software perform the following procedure: Stop the currently running server (or make sure that the server is already stopped): Click Start menu > Nokia Siemens Networks menu > Nokia Siemens Networks TransConnect program group > Stop Server command. A command window opens displaying the result of the stop command. Confirm the Windows User Account Control message box to allow the command to run on your computer. Logoff and log on as administrator with the access rights listed in section 3.1 Installing the software. Click Start menu > Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs . The Add or Remove Programs dialog box opens. In the Currently installed programs list, click to select Nokia Siemens Networks TransConnect and then click Change/Remove. Confirm the Windows User Account Control message box to allow the uninstallation wizard to run on your computer. The uninstallation wizard, Introduction page opens (see Figure 14).

5 Upgrade With the following recommended standard upgrade procedure you can take over the database from an old (meanwhile uninstalled) Nokia Siemens Networks TransConnect software version to the new one while running the Nokia Siemens Networks TransConnect installation wizard.
5.1
Upgrading from Nokia Siemens Networks TransConnect 8.00 To upgrade from Nokia Siemens Ne tworks TransConnect 8.00 to the current main version 8.10 proceed as follows: Log on as Windows administrator. Stop the currently running server (or make sure that the server is already stopped). Uninstall the old Nokia Siemens Networks TransConnect software by Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs . In the message box asking you whether the Windows user account “TC_USER” should be kept or removed, click No . The database is kept wh en uninstalling. Install the new Nokia Siemens Networks TransConnect software (see section 3.1 Installing the software). When performing step 12 of the installation procedure, the Choose Datastore Folder page (see Figure 16) opens.

Type the path name of the datastore sub-directory within the old Nokia Siemens Networks TransConnect installation directory or click Choose to display a dialog box for selecting the directory. This makes sure that the sub-directories datastore\filestore (including the project files) and datastore\transnetDB (including the server database) will be copied to the Nokia Siemens Networks TransConnect installation directory. The path name to type should be: \datastore
Click Next to open the TC_USER Password page and then continue with the installation procedure (see section 3.1 Installing the software.) Start the newly installed server (see section 3.2 Starting the Nokia Siemens Networks TransConnect server ). The data (for example, project files, users with permissions) of the uninstalled Nokia Siemens Networks TransConnect software version are now available with the newly installed version. After the software upgrade is finished , make sure that all projects sha red on the serv er are migrated to the new Nokia Siemens Networks TransNet (and Nokia Siemens Networks TransConnect) version. All projects available on the server should be migrated in the following way by using Nokia Siemens Networks TransNet: Copy the project from the server (to your local workspace) and open it. Check the project content regarding the same issues as described in section 3.5 Sharing projects with Nokia Siemens Networks TransNet, step 2 (while sharing a project on the server). Save the project (in your local workspace).

Saving of a project is only en abled after you have changed the project. If no other (equipment-related) changes are necessary you can update the User in the Project Properties view, Network Configuration page to enable saving and to com plete the migration. Save the project back to the server (as a new revision). The newly created project file revision should be used by all users as ba se for any modification. For details on performing these tasks refer to the Nokia Siemens Networks TransNet help system.
5.2
Upgrading from Nokia Siemens Networks TransConnect < 8.00 The upgrade from older versions to the current main version 8.10 is not s upported. An upgrade path exists only from the predecessor main version 8.00 to the current main version 8.10 (see section 5.1 Upgrading from Nokia Siemens Networks TransConnect 8.00). The reason is that Nokia Siemens Networks TransConnect (and Nokia Siemens Networks TransNet) opens a project only if it has been created with the current main version or has been saved with the predecessor main version. Older projects must be always migrated to the predecessor main version before they can be opened with the current main version 8.10. That means, Nokia Siemens Networks TransConnect upgrade is only possible between two successive main versions.
5.3
Determining the Nokia Siemens Networks TransConnect version currently installed When you get a new Nokia Siemens Networks TransConnect software delivered you may want to check which version is currently installed. Refer to section 1.5 Nokia Siemens Networks TransNet / TransConnect version and software variants for details.

6 Troubleshooting This chapter collects possible errors occuring during the Nokia Siemens Networks TransConnect software installation and configuration and provides corrective actions.
6.1
Windows account TC_USER cannot be created during installation At end of the Nokia Siemens Networks TransCo nnect installation you receive a warning message (like the one shown in Figure 18) informing you that the “TC_USER” Windows user account could not be created.

The Nokia Siemens Networks TransConnect installation wizard has been run under a Windows user account without appropriate access rights (see section 3.1 Installing the software). The TC_USER Windows user account exists and has proper permissions (see sections 3.1 Installing the software and 6.1 Windows account TC_USER cannot be created during installation). The password for TC_USER typed during server start is correct (see sections 3.1 Installing the software, step 14 and 3.2 Starting the Nokia Siemens Networks TransConnect server ).
Analyze the port collisions in more detail:
Check the server log file to find o ut any reason for a server start failure or whether the server works properly (in some cases the server may start without some services running properly). Search for "ERROR" messages in the server log file: \jboss\ server\default\log\server.log

You receive a list of active TCP (and UDP) ports together with the process ID (PID) of the application using the port. Search for the applications using the listed ports. Open the Windows Task Manager > Processes page and extend the default columns by adding the PID column (by View menu > Select Columns command). You have now the information available for mapping of process IDs to applications. To solve port collisions you can either close the other application(s) using the same ports as the Nokia Siemens Networks TransConnect server or you can reconfigure

Nokia Siemens Networks TransConnect Login page cannot be displayed After typing the URL for accessing the No kia Siemens Networks TransConnect server you receive a Web browser-specific “Web page cannot be displayed” or an “Apache Tomcat” Web server error page. Reason
The Nokia Siemens Networks TransConnect server has been not started or the URL to access the Login page (secured or unsecured) is incorrect. Corrective action
(Re-)start the Nokia Siemens Networks TransConnect server (see section 3.2 Starting the Nokia Siemens Networks TransConnect server ). Creating an SSL certificate file for HTTPS connection The certificate file is required to enable the Web server to a ccept secure connections by Hypertext Transfer Protocol Secure (HTTPS). A valid certificate file should be presen t before Nokia Siemens Networks TransConnect is installed (see section 2.5 Client software prerequisites) as it is requested during installation (see section 3.1 Installing the software). However, the file can be also added after the installation.

The procedure described in this section describes only o ne way of certificate file creation. The procedure cannot be completed at once as in step 3 a request to the certificate authority (CA) of your choice must be issued. Prerequisites •
The Java Runtime Environment (JRE) must be installed. The keytool command is provided with the Java Runtime Environment in the following directory: \bin

If no JRE is present on your computer you can use the JRE installed together with Nokia Siemens Networks TransConnect in the following directory: \jre
As JRE is only available after Nokia Siemens Networks TransCo nnect installation is finished, you need to copy the jboss.keystore file manually to the Nokia Siemens Networks TransConnect installation directory (see step 6). •
All commands must be run in a Windows Command Prompt window (to be started with cmd.exe).
Procedure
Create the certificate file and the public-key with the RSA algorithm. Type the following command: keytool -genkey -alias tc -keyalg RSA -keystore jboss.keystore
This command requests you to supply a keystore password and X.509 attributes of the certificate.

Do not use shift characters (for example, @, #, $ , %) in any of the X.509 attribute fields. For exampe, if your company has an & or @ symbol in its name, you must spell out the symbol or o mit it in the field. The following field values are requested: • Keystore password - It is recommended to type (and re-type on request) the password transconnect . If you type another password, you must perform the additional step 7 In any case, do not type a blank password.

First and last name - Type here the Common Na me (CN), that is, the host and domain name where Nokia Siemens Networks TransConnect is installed. Examples: www.company.com , company.com Organizational Unit (OU) - This field is optional. Organization (O) - Example: Type the “XY & Z Corporation company” organization as XYZ Corporation . Locality or City (L) - Example: Berkeley State or Province (S) - Spell out the name completely; do not abbreviate the name. Example: California Country Name (C) - The two-letter code without punctuation. Examples: US, CA.
As a result the jboss.keystore file is created in your wo rking directory. Generate a certificate signing request (CSR) file. Type the following command: keytool -certreq -alias tc -keyalg RSA -keystore jboss.keystore -file certreq.csr
Type on request the keystore password as specified in step 1. As a result the certreq.csr file is created in your working directory. Request the signature for the certificate. Send the certreq.csr file for signature application to your certificate authority (CA), for example, VeriSign, Inc. (http://www.verisign.com) or Thawte, Inc. (http://www.thawte.com). The procedure is specific for every CA. Get familiar with this procedure and follow it. As a result you should receive signed certificate which can be used to authorize your specific certificate generated in step 1. Download and import a root certificate to the keystore. Before the signed certificate a root (or chain) certificate must be imported to the keystore. Download the root certificate from the CA you obtained the signed certificate, for example, use for VeriSign, Inc. commercial certificates the p age http://www.veri sign.com/support/install/intermediate.html. Type the following command for import: keytool -import -alias root -keystore jboss.keystore -trustcacerts -file
Type on request the keystore password as specified in step 1 and accept the certificate. Import the signed certificate to the keystore. Type the following command for importing the signed certificate file obtained in step 3: keytool -import -alias tc -keystore jboss.keystore -file
As a result the jboss.keystore certificate file is now v alid. Copy the jboss.keystore file to the Nokia Siemens Networks TransConnect installation directory.

This step is only required if the valid certificate file has not been already selected during Nokia Siemens Networks TransConnect installation. Copy the jboss.keystore file to the following directory to replace the default file coming with the Nokia Siemens Networks TransConnect installation: \jboss\ server\default\conf\
Update the keystore password in the JBoss configuration file. This step is only required if you specified in step 1 a keystore p assword different from transconnect . In the following file: \jboss\ server\default\deploy\jbossweb-tomcat55.sar\server.xml
update the following line: keystorePass="transconnect" sslProtocol = "TLS" />
by replacing transconnect with your keystore password.
