KEY CONCEPTS IN CAREGIVING Key concepts as a caregiving student may include providing the physical needs of the patient, supporting on their mental and emotional needs, and other practical needs that are relevant with the course. The tasks of caregiving are wide-ranging and based on the needs of the individual patient. Different caregivers are capable of and comfortable with different tasks. Similarly, Caregivers Caregivers play multiple roles in taking care of a patient. Also, they must be a skilled communicator. He/she must be able to do multi-tasking; often juggling the physical, emotional and practical needs of the patient, while continuing to live with their own lives. Lastly, they will often play the role of advocate - speaking up for the patient when the patient wouldn't wouldn't able to do it. Caregiving requires a great deal of commitment, flexibility, respect, and empathy. Caregivers can receive gratitude, love and respect coming from their patient. But, care is not provided on a one-way street.
RELEVANCE OF THE COURSE Caregiving might be tiring yet it can be a rewarding and can have a meaningful experience. It provides individuals with the opportunity to love, support, bond, share and most especially be together. Thus, shifting a focus from the burdens of caregiving to the benefits of caregiving can help you cope up with the situation. Always be reminded that you are giving back the goodness within you through providing care. Moreover, you know that your loved one is getting the best possible treatment and support because you are the ones providing it. Remember that patient-caregiver relationship is a gift given to each other that would last for a lifetime. Caregivers learn many skills that are transferred transferred to their home and family relationships. They learn patience, compassion, communication, and other skills that help them to become successful individuals in the future. Sometimes, a caregiver's role demands time and effort, but the rewards can be an agent for them to be the best versions of themselves.
