THESIS TOPIC

National Film and Television Institute and Animation, Arunachal pradesh

PROJECT BRIEF The Union Information & Broadcast Ministry of India has come up with a proposal for India’s third National institute for Film and Television & animation at Jote in Papum Pare district of Arunachal Pradesh. A 200 acre of land has been earmarked for the project which is located on the right bank of the Poma River at Jote / Jollang. Land survey has already been carried out by district administration and process for collection of required data and information for preparation of DPR is underway. The Feasibility study had been carried out by Papum Pare District Authority along with SRFTI, Sathyajit Ray Film and Television Institute.

AIM It aims to design a Film and television institute & animation campus in significance with the emerging film culture of the eastern states.

OBJECTIVES   

To nurture and simulate film culture To bring film institute as cultural icon of the eastern states. Provide an interactive environment and platform to students through

  

academic pavilion. To promote film and other related media production To showcase latest technologies related to different medias. To cater film festivals

FEASIBILITY Considering the high potential of the state and its scenic attributes, the government of India has sanctioned the film institute in Arunachal Pradesh.The propsed site is nearer to the emerging satellite city and capital city of the state, coming airport and proposed high court complex. Being the third national institute for film in India, it not only promotes film and other related medias but also cultural integration, since there is no culture based educational institutions in the region. Papum Pare district has a population of 176,385 (51/sq.km)and has low employment rates. The project creates employment opportunities (for apx. 1000 job

opportunities directly) and create new economic opportunities for far eastern states of India. Also institute becomes a platform for Proposed North-east Film Festival which starts next year.

Main Theatre (370 seats), a Preview Theatre (72 seats) as well as an Open Air Theater with capacity of over 500 with 35mm, 16mm and Video projection facilities.



Classroom Theatre equipped with home theatre and other modern amenities.



Film library which houses collections of Indian and foreign films.



The Boys’ & Girls’ Hostels are equipped with all modern amenities.



SRFTI also has a well-furnished guest house.

Drama workshop and cultural spaces for natives

SCOPE 

It can be designed as a art campus by enhancing the scenic beauty of the site The scope of the project extends to the representation of Film narrative styles through architectural design of the campus. Can develop it as a center for recreation and education by merging the knowledge and fun part of Film and other medias through activities and architecture.

 

LIMITATION   

The minimum built area is limited within 50 acres Proximity to river pomar Fragile land preventing heavy constructions

SRFTI is the premier institute of India for film training which stands inline with Film and Television Institute of India (FTII) for its quality of education and reputation in the Indian film industry and a member of CILECT (International Liaison Centre of Schools of Cinema and Television), an organization of the world's leading schools of film and television.



Indian Institute of Digital Art & Animation (IIDAA), Kolkata The Indian Institute of Digital Art & Animation is a unit of IIDAA Educational Trust. It was founded in the year 2008.
