* Start this exercise around 60 Bpm and just keep working it up. I find that you reach a point where the "E's" and "Ah's" start feeling forced, well bellow the speed that you can rip a single parradiddle. I like to stay at these slower tempos until the entire en tire exercise feels airy, airy, effortless, and powerful before speeding things up. Lot's to work on! If you yo u are struggling at the 60 BPM mark just turn off the metronome and work it up one bar at a time, focusing on keeping your hands nice and relaxed and the non-accented notes relatively low, low, it will come with time and it will be WORTH IT!! * If your practicing with a metronome definitely start out setting it to 16th notes so you can hear that you are accurately placing every accent. Once you're killin it, lower the subdivision to just quarter notes  because its really important to hear that underlying quarter note pulse in everything you play. play. That said, I try and play along to music as much as possible. Find some of your favorite tunes at different BPM's and create a playlist that gets faster and faster to keep your brain engaged enga ged :) Have fun mastering this guy because we are going to ONE-UP this sucker and make it musical, challenging, and super creative!!
