remember looking at the clock and it

was 5:03am on September 25, 2010 when I had this idea of starting something to help others be happy, healthy, and wealthy. I wasn’t fully awake, but I felt I had urge and need to get up and start typing about it. I didn’t know yet what this was all about, I decided to let my intuition guide me in the process. I looked at the clock again and it was 5:08am, just five minutes after I had woken up. Have you ever seen those commercials about this amazing mattress where they place a glass full of wine on top of it and there is a person jumping up and down and the glass doesn’t even move? Isn’t it amazing? Well, I don’t have one of those mattresses. The one I have is the equivalent of a water bed. Any sudden movement you make and the whole bed moves. So, even though I tried to be as quiet as possible, I had woken up my wife. Naturally, she asked, “What’s going on?” To which I immediately replied, “I got an idea and I need to write it down before I forget about it.” Being half awake herself she said, “What time is it?”

To which I responded to her with the exact time. She just turned the other way and continued on sleeping. I’m one of those people that prefer listening to audio books and podcasts, instead of music. My car turns into a university as soon as I hop on it. I pretty much turn my car into my “Knowledge Capsule.” When I’m running, jogging, or walking my baby and/or my dogs, I put on my ipod and begin to listen. I’ve listened to hundreds and hundreds of hours on the topics of personal development, motivation, self-help, marketing, entrepreneurship, fitness, and nutrition. It’s just fascinating to me to hear successful people tell their stories, or to listen to the ideas inside a book, or learn from experts in a certain field of my interest. On one of the audios I listened to yesterday, I heard a multi-millionaire saying that there were three types of people in this planet; 5% of the people are the ones that make things happen, 15% of the people watch things happen, and 80% of the people wonder what the heck happened. The Goals… Through this mission my goals are to provide parents and/or future parents with sustainable strategies to become financially free, replace their full time jobs working for themselves, create systems that will allow them to spend more quality time with their family, and put them in the best position to attain their goals. I’ve found the only way to do this is by applying a systems based approach. Ralph Waldo Emerson has a quote that truly exemplifies this concept “As to methods there may be a million and then some, but principles are few. The man who grasps principles can successfully select his own methods. The man who tries methods, ignoring principles, is sure to have trouble.” Methodology: A System Based Approach… With so many methods out there it can become difficult to see the ‘forest from the trees,’ but with the proper systems in place a person can have their tools and the toolbox to contain them all. It is the toolbox or system that is sustainable and as better methods are uncovered the tools will change. Additionally, we need to break the stigma that there is only one way to do things and that you can’t have two different tools that do the same job. There is a time and a place to use different methods and in some cases people will respond to one better than the other. For this reason I am always open to new methods and know my systems are in place to allow for efficient execution of these strategies.

The Parentpreneur’s System… If you start a fitness program without a big-picture lifestyle master plan, your probabilities of being successful will be slim. If you don’t have a plan to handle the demands of everyday life, to enhance your life, you’ll never live the life you desire. Known as the father of Japanese post-war industrial revival and regarded by many as the leading quality guru in the U.S., Dr. W. Edwards Deming tells us that, “97% of all failure is due to the SYSTEM and not the person.” One of the best examples of efficient and effective systems I can think of is McDonald’s. Their systems are so effective such that someone with very little experience and with no educational background can get the job done impeccably. My goal is to empower people like yourself to create effective and efficient systems in your life that will enable you to spend more time doing the things you love. In our lives, we are completely responsible of how the systems of our own creation are helping or blocking us from reaching our desired objectives. Developing a system or systems that will allow us to live the life we desire is key to achieving our dreams. Therefore, we must have predictable and efficient systems in our lives to achieve objectives fast and to our advantage. (Continued on page 7)




Lifestyle Design Systems “Be careful what you wish for cause you just might get it.” I’m pretty sure you’ve heard this phrase before. If you wish to spend more time with your family, then creating a business which will enslave you will not serve your goals. For this reason, it is essential for us to build effective and efficient systems which will allow us to support the lifestyle we desire. Everyday, we are filled with tasks that consume our day. However, not all tasks are created the same. There might be some distracting mundane tasks (i.e. wash dishes, take out the garbage, etc.) which need to get done. These types of tasks aren’t getting us closer to our ultimate goals, but nevertheless those tasks need to get done. Additionally, there are those tasks that DO take us closer to our goals, yet they are time consuming and delegable. And finally, there are those tasks that take you closer to your desired objectives and that you enjoy doing the most and which cannot be easily delegable. Think About the Type of Lifestyle You Desire

An employee doesn’t have the responsibility to pay any bills or make more profits. For this reason, if a business owner wants his business to thrive, he needs to have a completely different mindset than the employee. However, in spite of having many responsibilities, the smart business minded individual works on creating efficient systems to support the type of life he or she envisions. Here’s a simplistic view on how the most successful individuals manage to create businesses that allow them to live their life on their own terms: Create Systems—>Delegate Responsibility— > Automate Processes—>then Celebrate

Before anyone could ever think about starting their own business, it is important to consider the type of lifestyle we wish for. Many times, people make the mistake of starting a business thinking that this will allow them to free up their time to live the life they dream about. However, starting a business involves many different responsibilities and therefore it demands a completely different mindset. When an individual is working for somebody else, all they have to worry about is getting the job done within the typical 9 to 5 time frame. When the day is over, they stop thinking about their job and they don’t have to continue worrying about it. It’s not their responsibility. On the other hand, a business owner, has a variety of things he needs to worry about like; finding clients, keeping clients, finding vendors, keeping ven-

That’s pretty much how you should be thinking about starting your own business. On this section, I’ll be providing efficient and effective systems to allow you to free up your time by delegating and automating those time consuming tasks. In the meantime, I recommend you read a great book to help you start thinking in terms of systematizing. The name of the book is called The EMyth by Michael E. Gerber. This is the first book I read on the power of systemizing your business. In conclusion, by creating efficient and effective systems you’ll be able to free up a lot of your time and dedicate it to the things you love.g

Every month I’ll be talking about practical and smart ways you can make profits from free to low-cost tools that can potentially bring maximum returns to your bottom line.


All successful entrepreneurs started with the most important and indispensable thing...a vision of a big dream. Once they had this vision, they didn’t sit and wait for the “right” tools or ideal resources. However, they had to become resourceful. Starting from scratch, many individuals had to, by necessity, find creative and clever ways to make things happen. The “rags to riches” stories where ordinary human beings with practically nothing, and/or very limited resources, achieve great successes are so many. Take for example Russia’s richest man, Roman Abramovich, who was an orphan. Steve Jobs, the genius behind Apple success dropped out of college because he couldn’t afford tuition. Oprah Winfrey spent her early years living in poverty on her grandmother’s farm. These are just three names of inspiring individuals and a

If you think about it, we already have systems in place in our daily lives. The manner in which you do things in a habitual way is already ingrained in your brain. Now, whether these “systems” of yours are allowing you to reach your objectives or not it’s a different story. For me, it is no surprise that all successful people have great systems in their lives operating on a conscious or unconscious level. Hence, the first step is to find people in our society which are already living the life you desire or are doing the things you aspire to do. Next, you find out what they do on a regular basis. Then, you model their systems or habits as closely as possible. With this program, a major goal is to find successful people, identify what they have done and what they are currently doing so that we can uncover their systems and apply them into our lives. But, I warn you. If you look at this system as just another program, you will have a difficult time producing long-term change. For this reason, I will challenge you to think BIG. Think of this as an integrated lifestyle system with four elements, the four parts of what I call the PARENTPRENEUR ESSENTIALS: Mindset, Marketing, Lifestyle Design, and Active Lifestyle. Each element will be essential and indispensable to obtaining the life you desire. Let’s take a look at the Parentpreneur Essentials a lot closer.

MINDSET:: For any significant change to take place in our lives, it is absolutely necessary to build our lives from the inside out, not just at the superficial level, like so many other people tend to do. In other words, you need to rewire your mindset so you can create significant changes in your life. For this reason, I’ve decided to

It is my observation that, in order to be successful or ultra successful, it takes a completely different mindset than what a person currently has about themselves. Developing the proper mindset will help prepare you for living an exceptional and enriched life. The simple fact that you are taking the time to read this suggests that you have, to some degree, the proper mindset to make the necessary changes in your life. But, to change your mindset to that of prosperity, happiness, and abundance, you cant’ just be willing, you must have a burning desire to change. When someone sets out to be different or think different there will be resistance…a LOT of resistance. This resistance does not only come from your own self. It also comes from the people around you; friends, family, significant other, peers, etc. Let me explain. We are creatures of habit. We are so used to looking at things a certain way. There is a story about Christopher Columbus when he arrived in America that the locals (Indians) were not able to see the ships coming. It wasn’t that they were not there. It was just that they had never seen something like that in their lives. Their brain wasn’t able to process this information. In psychology, this type of phenomenon has a name, it’s called a “schetoma.” I’ll give you a familiar example. How many times your mother did ask you to get them the salt from the cabinet and you failed to find it? “It’s right there!” she tells you. To which you answer, “Where the heck is it? I don’t see it!” Then your mother comes and points at it saying, “Are you blind or what?” Obviously, feeling stupid at the situation you might ask yourself why I didn’t see that. All this time, the salt container had been there in front of you, but you didn’t see it. Let me give you another example. Remember the day you got a new car? All of the sudden, you saw that same car everywhere you went. Right? That car had been there all along. However, because you weren’t focused on that car before, you weren’t able to see it. The same thing happens in our lives. We have schetomas all the time. It’s not that there isn’t opportunities out (Continued on page 17)

Creating a Tribe Using Facebook There used to be a time where it would be so difficult to build your own brand. You needed a lot money to create brand awareness and there were only so many mediums through which you could get your message across. Nowadays, with the increasing amount of media and social platforms like facebook, twitter, linkedin, and so many others, it has become a lot easier to become your own brand. However, in spite of the fact that it has become easier to build your own brand, people still get overwhelmed and intimidated when they think about building awareness in a specific market. But, do you actually need to build brand awareness within millions of people to be successful? It depends what your goals are. But, for the parent entrepreneur, one thousand true fans might be sufficient to create a great living. For a more in depth article about true fans, I recommend you read Kevin Kelly’s article “1,000 True Fans” (http:// ). Here’s what Kelly has to say about a true fan: “A True Fan is defined as someone who will purchase anything and everything you produce. They will drive 200 miles to see you sing. They will buy the super deluxe re-issued hi-res box set of your stuff even though they have the low-res version. They have a Google Alert set for your name. They bookmark the eBay page where your out-of-print editions show up. They come to your openings. They have you sign their copies. They buy the t-shirt, and the mug, and the hat. They can't wait till you issue your next work. They are true fans.” Moreover, I found another great article about 1,000 true fans on this blog Collective Thoughts: Social Media Thinking ( ) where Glen Allsopp describes who your true fans are. According to Allsopp, your true fans are the people that: • Talk about you • Promote your work • Use your products / services with pride • Feel like they are a part of your brand and your community When you think of building one thousand true fans, instead of thousands or millions of fans, the task becomes less intimidating and less overwhelming. Leading Your Tribe Not too long ago, I listened to an audio book by Seth Godin called Tribes. On his book, Seth discusses how becoming a leader of your tribe (market) is indispensable to your business success. Godin defines a tribe as a group of people connected to one another, connected to a leader, and connected to an idea that inspires their passion. He believes that tribes give ordinary people the power to lead and create massive and positive change in our society. Godin says, “...leadership is the best marketing tactic to any organization--a company, a school, a church, a job seeker.” As

human beings we have a need to belong, “to be part of a tribe, to contribute to (and take from) a group of likeminded people. We are drawn to leaders and to their ideas, and we can't resist the rush of belonging and the thrill of the new," he says. Bottom line is, if we want real change in our business or businesses, we need to become real leaders of a tribe and create unique bonding experiences within our community. Through the multitude of social platforms, the web has broken the barriers for leadership. Facebook, like many other social platforms, has made it easy for “aspiring tribe leaders” to build and nurture their own virtual communities. With Facebook, people have the ability to create pages where people can interact and share their special interests. Here’s a step by step process on how you can easily create your own page and start building your tribe. Step #1: Open your facebook account and click on the “Home” tab. Step #2: On the left hand side, you will see a several tabs. Click on “See more” Step #3: You will see the “Ads and Pages” exposed. Click on it. Step #4: On the left hand side, you will see “Pages”. Click on it. Step #5: Click on “+Create Page” Step #6: Begin building your page.



Patience Is a Virtue Whoever came up with this “patience is a virtue” saying must have definitely been under some serious pursuit of a worthwhile dream. Why do I think so? Because why on earth would people without a BIG worthwhile dream get impatient about anything? They have no real reason to become impatient. They have no deadlines to meet or any mapped out plan on how to get to their desired goals. On the other hand, people who are always looking to grow and in constant pursuit of worthwhile dreams, tend to be more susceptible to becoming impatient. The fact that we are always doing our best to move towards our goals, makes us impatient when we feel that we aren’t doing that. For the most part, I tend to be extremely patient with myself and others. However, there are times, where things seem to not be going our way and frustration can start to kick in. Lately, I have been trying to meet some deadlines on some projects I’ve been working on. However, things aren’t moving as fast as I expected. Has this happened to you before? Unless you have been living on a different planet, of course it has. So, I usually go out for a walk with my son at the park where there is a beautiful and peaceful lake. You’ll find people fishing, jogging, or just walking around and enjoying the wonderful scenery of the mountains in the background. During these morning walks, I tend to just be in the moment and let my mind just relax. I just let my senses become acute to listen, watch, smell, and feel the environment in that particular moment. I’ve found that these types of moments of complete serenity have brought clearance and solutions to issues I might be facing at that particular time.


After being a bit frustrated, I took a different approach to my situation. I started asking questions to come up with a better solution. Some of the questions were as follows: • “What can I do now to meet my deadline?” • “What would happen if I don’t meet the deadline?” • “What is the lesson in this experience?” • “What is this feeling of frustration trying to tell me?” Asking these types of questions allowed me to see things from a different perspective. Most importantly, it allowed me to relax a lot more about the situation. I realized that the only thing I was getting accomplished by getting frustrated was to delay the project even more. Instead, I began to see what were the most important things that needed to get done and how I can delegate some of the tasks to be completed a lot faster. I realized I was trying to do too many things on my own, when I could get somebody else to get it done a lot faster than I ever would. Indeed, patience is a virtue that allow us to think clearer about our current issues. Ironically enough, the more we practice being patient, the more we get things done. I have found this to be true in my life. Next time you find yourself getting frustrated because things are not going your way, realize that the solution is on its way. By being stressed and developing frustration and anxiety you are in essence delaying this process. The world has its way of giving you solutions to problems. But, we must be patient and EXPECT the solution to show up. The solution might not be in the way you expected it, but I can assure you that the answer will be there in some form or another. When the idea or solution comes to you, be sure to act on it quick. The universe loves speed.g

As I’ve discussed before, your number one priority as a Parentpreneur should be of marketing your own business. You should look at yourself as the marketer of your business and become a real student of it as well. In the meantime, just know that nobody else is going to be a lot more interested in the success of your business than you are. MARKETING WEAPONS Like the real weapons used on war, there are so many different kinds of them. Similarly, there are many types of marketing weapons that can be used in a business, one no more important than the other. Within this segment, I’ll be introducing different types of marketing weapons (online or offline) and show you practical and profitable ways that you can benefit from. WORD OF CAUTION If your business only depends on one type of marketing, your in a really bad spot. I agree with marketing guru, Dan Kennedy, when he says that the number one is the worst number you can have in a business. What you really want to do is use multiple ways of attracting prospects to your business. Whether this is through print advertising, audio, video, or any other form, you should be proactive on this. The more the better. The goal here is to


spread your message in multiple forms to your main target audience. CONSTANT INTERRUPTIONS We are constantly being interrupted by different types of messages throughout the day. For this reason, we have become a lot more selective of the types of messages we want to pay attention to. Additionally, our attention span has significantly decreased over the years as a consequence of information overload. Therefore, we need to make it easier for our target market to be exposed to our message in in multiple forms. Somebody might be too busy to stop and read something, but they can listen to your promotional interview as they are driving to work. Additionally, your marketing message must stand out! It must be OUTRAGEOUS AND REMARKABLE. What would you do if you were driving on the countryside and all of the sudden you saw a purple cow? On his book, Purple Cow, Seth Godin says that the key to success is to find a way to stand out—to be the purple cow in the field of monochrome Holsteins. People are no longer easily distracted by a marketing message. They have become immune to the infinite marketing “interruptions” in their lives. For this reason, your marketing needs to take on a different approach. It cannot, it must not, be the same old marketing everyone is doing. If your goal is to attract more customers, build a solid business, and enjoy the fruits of your labor, you have to become a student of marketing. A Rock-y Workout For A Rock Solid Body!

#2 Reverse Squat Throws

There is a great trail close to where I live, and once in a while I get to go out there and enjoy a nice little jog or interval run out in nature. However, in this particular day, I turned my jog into a fantastic workout with just the use of what mother nature was providing me, or what I like to call “The Elements.” As I looked around, there were so many different creative things I could do, but one object or objects got my particular attention. There seem to have been an abundance of heavy rocks around this trail! So, I decided to do a quick & powerful workout with just these rocks.

Procedure: Bring your hips back to load your legs and bring the rock down between your knees. Then, proceed with an explosive movement upwards. At the same time, you will release the rock with a powerful scooping movement and looking to throw the rock as far and as high as possible. Let the rock come to a rest after release. Continue this exercise for the prescribed amount of repetitions. #3 Side Throws

So here’s what I did: #1 Squat Throws

Procedure: Start with both feet shoulder width apart. Assume an athletic stance by bending your knees slightly, bringing your chest forward, maintaining your back straight, and keeping your weight on the balls of your feet. Too many people today look at opportunity and figure it is up to someone else to make sure they get it. They look at financial security and hope that the government will make sure they live safely in retirement or in case of disability. They wait and wait, figuring that it is up to someone else. And then the wait is over, and it is too late to do anything. Their life is over and they are filled with regret. This isn't true for you however. You know that you must take responsibility for your life. It is up to you. The fact is that nobody else is going to do it for you. You must do it yourself. Now, some people may say, "Jim, that's a lot of responsibility." But here's what I think, that is the best news you can ever hear. You get to choose your life. Hundreds of millions of people all around this world would give anything to live in the situation you do just for the chance to have the opportunity to take control of their destiny. "It is up to you" is a great blessing! Here's why: 1. You get to chart your own destiny. Maybe you want to start a small business and stay there. That's great because you can choose that. Maybe you want to create a small chain of stores. Maybe you want to have a net worth of $100 million. That's okay too. The idea is that you get to choose. You can do whatever you like. Different people have different dreams and they should live them accordingly. 2. You can reap what you sow. Sleep in and go to work late and reap the return. Or get up early and outwork the others and earn a greater return. Place your capital at risk and earn a return or place it at greater risk and perhaps reap a greater return. You decide what you will sow and thus what you will reap. 3. No one else can stop you from getting your dream. Yes, there will always be things that come up and people who may not like what you are doing, but you can just move on and chart your own course. There is great freedom in that. 4. You experience the joy of self-determination. There is no greater pride than knowing you set your mind on something and accomplished it. Those who live with a victim mentality never get to experience the joy of accomplishment because they are always waiting for someone else to come to the rescue. Those who take responsibility get to live the joy of seeing a job well done. Let me ask you a question: Where will you be in 5 years? 10 years? Or 25 years? Do you know? Do you have an idea? Have you ever dreamed about it or set a goal for it? Are you willing to take responsibility and recognize that, "It is up to you?" You will be wherever you decide to be in those timeframes. Kamilo Eats Banana for the First Time! This is one of the best things of living life on your own terms...You get to experience the “firsts” of your baby. So, not really knowing what to expect, we took a small spoon and decided to give Kamilo his first taste of a banana. It was hilarious! At first he didn’t know what the heck was going. But after his first taste, he wanted more of it. He started moving his hands and feet like crazy just wanting to get some more of that mysterious substance. there to help you become successful. It’s just that you are not trained to see these opportunities and so your brain doesn’t register them as such. Just like the Indians who could not see the ships of Christopher Columbus. It is not that other people don’t want us to be successful. It’s just that they don’t see themselves as successful and they are afraid that you too might fail and get hurt. But you know what, such is life. It’s not how many times you fall down, it’s about how many times you get up and move forward. There’s a scene from one of my favorite movies of all times called the “The Pursuit of Happyness”, spelled with a ‘y’ on happiness, which seriously impacted my life. I get goose bumps every single time I see this scene and it goes like this: Christopher Gardner: Gardner Hey. Don't ever let somebody tell you... You can't do something. Not even me. All right? Christopher: Christopher All right. Christopher Gardner: Gardner You got a dream... You gotta protect it. People can't do somethin' themselves, they wanna tell you you can't do it. If you want somethin', go get it. Period. On a similar note, I would like to share with you one of my favorite quotes called the MAN IN THE ARENA by Theodore Roosevelt:

“It is not the critic who counts; not the man who points out how the strong man stumbles, or where the doer of deeds could have done them better. The credit belongs to the man who is actually in the arena, whose face is marred by dust and sweat and blood, who strives valiantly; who errs and comes short again and again; because there is not effort without error and shortcomings; but who does actually strive to do the deed; who knows the great enthusiasm, the great devotion, who spends himself in a worthy cause, who at the best knows in the end the triumph of high achievement and who at the worst, if he fails, at least he fails while daring greatly. So that his place shall never be with those cold and timid souls who know neither victory nor defeat.” Let me ask you this…and I would like you to be honest with yourself. Are you the type of person who watches from a distance, laughs and criticizes people for their mistakes and failures? Or are you the type that actually takes action regardless of what other people think and


regardless of the outcome? I rather be the person in the “arena” who fails and fails and gets up again and again in pursuit of their dreams. I rather be the person who is courageous enough to face their fear and dares to be somebody instead of nobody. I rather be the person who gets criticized than to be somebody which people don’t have anything to say about. I rather be a remarkable person than to be ordinary. I rather be living my own life than living the life in the shadow of somebody else. I rather be living life on my own terms than my life on somebody else’s terms. I rather dream BIG or not dream at all. I rather live life in a way that inspires and motivates people around the globe. Most importantly, instead of just having others tell me what life is like, I rather live life. I ask you again, which one would you rather be? If you rather be the man in the ‘arena’, this is the place for you! The reason why I’m creating this platform is to build a tribe where like-minded individuals will get to meet. There is only a few of us who dare to THINK BIG! However, these are the very same people who make GREAT changes in the world. So I ask you, I plead to you, don’t deprive yourself, family, friends, and the world your true greatness. The world needs people like you, heck I need you, to step up and lead. Don’t settle for small. You know what…let me rephrase that…don’t settle for anything! You are powerful beyond measure…

for many, many years until they retire. They decide to wait for those long years until they decide they want to ‘live the life’ they dreamed of. This great life could mean traveling, spend more time with family, volunteer, start a hobby, and many other things. However, doing the things you love to do, don’t have to be postponed 30, 40, or 50 years for you to retire. Especially nowadays, living the way you want, wherever you want, with whomever you like, is possible and within your reach. Why wait these many years when you can live that life now? Lifestyle design is about planning how you want to live and build a system or systems to fulfill your plan. It’s about living life on your own terms and not accepting the status quo. It’s about doing unconventional things that make your life better. Several years back, I read The 4-Hour work Week: Escape 9-5, Live Anywhere, and Join the New Rich by Tim Ferriss. On this book he defines the concept of lifestyle design as well as the type of people who are doing it (which he refers to as the New Rich): “The New Rich (NR) are those who abandon the deferred-life plan and create luxury lifestyles in the present using the currency of the New Rich: time and mobility. This is an art and a science we will refer to as Lifestyle Design (LD).” If I gave you a million dollars with only one condition, would you accept it? Of course you’ll want to know what that condition is. Is that right? Here’s the condition; you are not able to get out of your house for 10 years. How does that sound? I really don’t think you’ll take that million dollars. Why is that? Isn’t that what you want? Actually, we are not necessarily interested in the money, but we are interested on what money allows us to do. We want to feel alive. We want to be doing the things that we are passionate about. Ultimately, we want freedom.


But, why is it that more people are not living the life they want? Simply put, because they have been trained to do so. People feel that there is a “need” to be working a dead end 9-5 job without a choice. However, there is a better way! Most people get through their days on a “sleepwalking” mode and with a false sense of accomplishment. Although we are living in a fast pace society, performing tasks at a furious pace, we are not moving forward on our dreams, or at least a great majority of people aren’t. What have you done each day to move you closer to the life you deserve? Not just in your job, but in terms of making yourself into the person you want to be? The goal of the Lifestyle Design pillar is to get you closer to living the life you deserve. Only you know what your ideal life looks like and it’s just a matter of structuring a plan that fits your lifestyle. As you know, there isn’t just one way to get to your goals. Because there are so many ways to design a lifestyle that meets your needs, I’ll be providing you with a number of techniques for designing your optimum lifestyle. ACTIVE LIFESTYLE: What does this pillar have to do with living the life we want? EVERYTHING! Your main transportation vehicle is your own body. And guess what? In order to maximize its performance, this vehicle needs to be taken care of. You can’t expect to put forth 100% effort into your business, family, projects, and friends with a body that is just functioning at 70%. This might be obvious to you, but this is how a lot of people expect to get great results without first taking care of themselves. Being active and fit is vital to anybody’s success. Therefore, this is why living an Active Lifestyle is one of the Parentpreneur Essential on this system. There is a huge problem nowadays with people watching too much television and spending too much time over the internet. According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), the results released in 2009 from the American Time Use Survey (ATUS), the leisure activity that occupied the most time was watching television. On a different note, the Harris Interactive poll, released on December 2009, found that 80 percent of U.S. adults go online, whether at home, work, or elsewhere. Those who surf the Net spend an average of 13 hours per week online, but that figure varies widely. Twenty percent are online for two hours or less a week, while 14 percent are there for 24 hours or more. With the number of people surfing the web and watching television, it is no surprise that lack of exercise and obesity continues to rise. For this reason, creating a plan that will integrate exercise activity into our daily lives is even more important today than it ever was. Because exercising has so many positive mental and physical benefits in our bodies, it is without a doubt an important piece of our system. Personally, I make exercising a priority in my life and usually set aside at the very least fif-


teen minutes to invest in my body. You might think you need a full hour or two to exercise. Nonsense! Even if you are really busy throughout the day, I don’t see why you can’t squeeze in fifteen minutes to exercise. Below are just quick excerpts from the book I wrote on fitness called Performance for Life: Your Start to a Long-Term Active Lifestyle Start Small, Win Big Start where you are and not where you want to be. If you are not used to living an active lifestyle start small. Little is better than none and just focus on today and not tomorrow or next month. Let go of the expectations of creating big results and let’s start to focus a lot more on the process. Instead of thinking about losing a certain number of pounds, or shedding off x number of body fat percentage, or any other results oriented thinking, focus more on the daily tasks that need to be completed, such as performing a strength workout on Tuesday morning at 7:00am for 45 minutes. This is more processoriented. If you become consistent at completing these tasks, the results will come. By focusing on the results, if we don’t see the immediate results that we expect, we quickly become discouraged. Expect to take small steps every day and you will enjoy the process even more. Let go of the need to obtain results. When starting the program, your goal is to start at a slow pace and taking your time to get warmed up. You can start picking up the pace as you make your way into the workout. As your body gets conditioned and as your stamina improves, gradually increase the amount of intensity and possibly the time you exercise. Starting and exercise program may not be the easiest thing to do for many people. But it doesn’t have to be an overwhelming experience. By starting (Continued on page 21)

small, pacing yourself, and planning ahead, you can begin a healthy lifestyle and be on your way to a more fulfilling life. You Already Have Everything You Need to Get Started There is this mentality that you need a gym in order to get a great workout. Many times, the gym is seen as the only place you can exercise and maintain a healthy lifestyle. However, it is completely fine to keep an active lifestyle where ever you are, with whatever you got available. Many times we make up excuses and never get things started. In order to get something going, we feel that we need this or we need that. Some examples of this will be: I don’t have a gym membership I need weights I don’t have a heart rate monitor I don’t have workout clothes I need a workout partner The list of “needs” could go forever. However, let me tell you that you have no excuses to get an active lifestyle going. You already have all the tools you need to exercise and be active. You don’t need any high tech equipment or gear. You don’t need any special shoes or gym memberships. You don’t necessarily require a partner or a personal trainer. “Don’t wait until everything is just right. It will never be perfect. There will always be challenges, obstacles and less than perfect conditions. So what. Get started now. With each step you take, you will grow stronger and stronger, more and more skilled, more and more selfconfident and more and more successful.” ~Mark Victor Hansen All that you need is within your reach. All you need is deep commitment to get better and obtain a better lifestyle. Your exercise program doesn’t have to be complicated. You can put on your old shoes and use the outdoors as a gym. You will need some creativity to add some exercises and this program


will give you plenty of ideas. You will be able to implement some of this ideas at the park, hotel, or at the comfort of your home. So, get out there and make the world your personal gym! MARKETING: According to Robert Allen, on his book Multiple Streams of Internet Income, he defines Marketing as the science of encouraging interested people to buy. This is one of the most critical elements in this system. Without it, you can have the greatest product, service, or idea, but if you have poor marketing nothing else matters. To the contrary, you can have the worst product, service, or idea, with a powerful marketing strategy and you can be really successful. With this pillar, I will focus on giving you strategies and solutions to help you find your right market (audience), ask people what they want, communicate the right message to your hungry market, deliver the message through multiple mediums, and give them what they want. One of the best and most successful marketers of our time and the person who I consider one of my greatest mentors, Dan Kennedy, developed the famous Marketing Triangle. This triangle is comprised of Message— Market—Media. Most beginners will spend the greatest percentage of their time finding or creating a product first. Then, they will go out and find that ideal client. But, one of the greatest mistakes people make is to develop a product first, then create a marketing piece (media) with some form of message to try to find and attract a big market. However, the way this Marketing Triangle works is you first define a target market (the more ‘niched’, or relevant to a small group of people, the better). Then, you find out as much information as possible from this small group of people by asking important questions. For example: What keeps them up at night, what are their biggest pains or fears, what their current needs and desires are, what do they want, what are their hobbies, what types of magazines or books do they read, and other relevant questions. Once you have established your target market and discovered their needs you develop a message that speaks directly at them. Gary Halbert, one of the best copywriters of all time talks about how you need to find a starving crowd. For example, if you are thinking about opening a pizza place, you’ll be a lot more successful if you are closer to a place where people are most likely to be attracted to your marketing message. Where would you find a starving crowd for pizza? A great answer to this question would be a college campus. Moreover, once you attract your ideal customers, you then need to find a way to continue to profit from the customers that know and respect you. When you really think about it for a second, who would be the most likely person to buy from you? Is it somebody who doesn’t know you or somebody who has already bought something from you in the past? You already know the answer to this one. But, how do we continue to get more profit from you current and past customers? The famous marketing guru, Jay Abraham, says that when you boil down business, an entrepreneur should try to master these three activities: 1) To increase the number of customers 2) To persuade these customers to buy more in their initial order 3) To encourage these customers to buy more frequently. I would also add these two other important things to maximize profits, a) To add more products or services to your business and b) To increase the number of referrals. Within this Marketing pillar, I will show you many different strategies to help you become a master of these activities and improve your profits. There are so many different ways to increase your income, but I’ll be revealing to you the best strategies that will help you get there faster. Ultimately, this system will not work for you if you fail to take action. IMPLEMENTATION of ideas is what separates ordinary from extraordinary. You might think that only “gifted” people are the ones who actually get ahead in life. However, you might be surprised to find


out that there are so many successful people that are not really smart at all, but made the decision to get committed and take action. Again, there are so many people with great ideas in this world. But, very few individuals make the decision to take action. People say that “90% of success is just showing up.” But, I truly believe that only 5% of people actually show up. Additionally, there are even fewer people who have what it takes to live life on their own terms. This is why I created this system; to build a tribe of parents, single parents, and future parents who are determined to live life on their own terms. This is not a place to whine or complain. This is a place of possibilities. This is the place to think of BIG, huge, hairy, and scary dreams. If you KNOW (I didn’t say if you THINK) you belong to this tribe, then this system is definitely what you were looking for all of this time and it will change your life forever. But I do warn you that getting this information will be attributed to 10% of your success. The other 90% of success belongs to your ability to take quick action. If you are living a stagnant life, you can’t attribute this to your parents, economy, or the planets. You are responsible for the way you live your life. MULTI-millionaire MINDSET You’ve probably taken some courses, listened to audio books, read books, assisted seminars, or workshops on wealth accumulation, but there hasn't been any major changes in your life. Additionally, you might have watched “The Secret” several times, but still nothing. You keep getting the same mediocre results over and over. Have you ever wonder why, no matter what you do, you are still in the same financial situation? Have you asked yourself why people remain stagnant in a certain salary year after year without any particular explanation? On his book, The Millionaire Mindset by T. Harv Eker, he talks about how we keep constantly getting the same unwanted results again and again. According to the author, here’s how it works:

Thoughts—>Feelings—>Actions—>Results Thoughts create our feelings, feelings determine our actions and our actions determine our results. If you really stop and think about this, it makes complete sense. Let’s say you are about to give a speech and you have thoughts of fear. Consequently, your feelings of fear will affect the way you present your speech. As a result, your speech will not be as great as you would have liked. Here are some questions for you in regards to money: • Do think that rich people are greedy or evil? • Do you think about just having enough money to live comfortably? • Are you fearful about too much money and attracting many problems as a result. The way you’ve answer this questions is in direct proportion to your general thoughts about money. Where do Thoughts Come From? But, where do our thoughts come from and how can we change this limiting thoughts?

We are going to start doing some digging here because the thoughts we have today have been ingrained within us during our childhood. Therefore, the way you experience money as a kid has created your “money blueprint.” What you heard, saw, and felt as a kid has consciously and unconsciously shaped your financial blueprint. Why do you think people who have lost millions of dollars in the past have managed to thrive again and made their millions back? Donald Trump is a perfect example of this. “The Donald” had lost millions and millions of dollars, but was able to get back up on his feet and make his money back plus a lot more. On this section, I’ll be talking about the different strategies and techniques you can use to change your money blueprint to that of not just a millionaire, but that of a multi-millionaire individual. If you are thinking you don’t need to be a multimillionaire right now, that is your current programming talking to you. If you are somewhat uncomfortable of thinking about becoming a multimillionaire, it’s your current money blueprint resisting this idea. If you are one of those individuals that really don’t care about getting rich, then you are denying yourself the opportunity to make greater good. Love is the most important thing you might say, and I agree. But, I also understand that love does not buy materials to build hospitals, donate to charity, help victims in natural disasters. Also, if you to the bank and ask for a business loan promising to pay back with a lot of love you know what their answer will be. Right? Zig-Ziglar used to say, “Money isn’t the most important thing in life, but it’s reasonable close to oxiygen on the ’gotta have it’ scale.” Bottom line is, you need money as a tool to help you achieve greater things in life.g
