INTRODUCTION Welcome to The Forty Servants! I initially wanted to create THE FORTY SERVANTS as a tool that I could use for myself in my own personal practice, but as I began to post images of the Cards/Servitors on the website and social media, it became clear that other people were interested in using it too. Which is great! I am extremely proud of the Deck; it flowed out of me almost as if I was just the channel rather than the creator – but I certainly wouldn’t go so far as to say this is channeled work. Although at times, it really did feel like other hands were at work alongside me. It reminded me of when I was writing THEM and THE HOLY NUMBERS – there was a point where the characters took over and I became as much a witness to the story unfolding, as the readers were. The difference is that the reader didn’t have to get up every morning and actual do the writing and drawing, were I most certainly did. I felt somewhat like a sculptor who had to chip away at the stone until the statue revealed itself, rather than me forcing my ideas on the stone. I feel that the Characters from this deck have a life of their own, and seem to have a purpose which is probably better known to them than I. In short: The Servants found me, rather than I found them. If you are a creator of any kind then I as quite sure you understand exactly what I mean when I say this, but if not, just trust me that I am not as insane as I sound… I hope. This guide book, however, presented a challenge for me. I was - and still am- very hesitant to give definitive definitions or uses for the cards. I see them growing and evolving as people use them and I really don’t want to hinder that process by giving so much information that people think that the cards abilities or meanings are limited to what I have written here. So please take all that follows as suggestion, rather than rule. If a Card speaks to you differently than it does to me, then please follow your gut. The best guide to what the Cards and Servants are the Servants themselves; they will reveal all if you ask them to. The Servitors themselves were all called into being, or activated, or whatever we choose to call it, on Halloween Night, 2016, in a very intense ritual that involved them being baptised by the elements of earth air, fire and water, along with some Holy Oil and a toast of white wine. The Original Images used in this life giving creation were placed and sealed in a special black box and have remained on my altar since, although I will be moving them to a more permanent place when the opportunity arises. May the Forty Servants serve you well! TK November 2016 4

WHAT IS DIVINATION? Divination is a process to gain insight into a question or situation by way of a special ritual. Diviners can gain their insights by reading Cards, throwing dice, reading tea leaves, noticing signs, events, or omens, or through contact with a supernatural agency the dead, or a host of other ways, systems and paths. Particular divination methods vary by culture and religion. Divination is not quite fortune-telling as that seems to more preoccupy itself with just predicting the future, whereas Divination can be used to gain insight into the past, present or future.

DOES IT WORK? Like all Magick, Divination seems to work ridiculously well sometimes and not at all at others. I have yet to hear a great explanation for why this is, but it is pretty much the experience of any Magick or Divination practitioner I have spoken to. Maybe, on some occasions it's just simply the wrong time for it - like many things in life. For instance, when you are really stressed or anxious it would be reasonable to suggest that you probably wouldn’t see the answer in front of you as easily as when you are relaxed and calm. But lots of factors, known and unknown could be involved. For me, I find Divination works best when you are trying to figure out something about an event occurring in the present or the past, rather than trying to predict the long-term future. It's great for helping you work out your thoughts or feelings on present situations, unravel events of the past, or for giving advice on decisions to be made in or for the future. In my experience, it is less reliable when predicting the future, although not useless. That said, Divination can tell you what may happen in the future (or more correctly what the most likely outcome is). Patterns can be recognised that will lead to future events probably occurring, as long as you do nothing in the meantime to change the course of these events. However, the Catch 22 is that as soon as you have this information about the future, you have already started to change it. The traditional advice given is to only do divination for the short term future, as the more you go into the distant future the less accurate the reading will be. That said, it may just be the case that I am not terribly gifted at using Divination for fortune-telling, your experience may be extremely different. So experiment for yourself and find what works best for you. Divination is often dismissed by the scientific community and sceptics as being superstitious nonsense and I guess from their point-of-view that is totally understandable. Most of the Fortune-telling in the media, books, films and TV is bullshit and there are so many frauds and Charlatans out there who really are just in it to make money or get attention. Perhaps not all, though.

5

Of course, I obviously don't think divination should be totally dismissed. It can be a brilliant tool if used wisely and even If you don't buy the idea that information can be gleaned by some unknown or "supernatural" means, you can still get a lot out of these Cards as Meditation tools or with Archetype work. For those non-believing readers, I see Divination as a very helpful way to look at events in your life and make sense of things going on around you. The Cards can make you look at events or people from a different angle or perspective and allow you to see your story (or other people's ideas and opinions) from outside of your own head. The Cards will trigger something in your mind that can lead you to different ideas or solutions, or make you see things in a new light. However, those who do believe in the "Spooky" side of Cartomancy will probably get the most from it and will find the Deck to be a wonderful tool for insight and prediction.

6

HOW EXACTLY DO YOU DO A DIVINATION READING? This is really down to personal taste and so I don't want to say that there is only one way to use the Deck. You will find the best system for you, or a number of spreads for different situations. My personal preference is a three card reading, where you ask the question and then randomly pick out three cards with one being for The Past, one for The Present and the last one for The Future. Then look up what the Cards mean or suggest for each section.

Here are a couple more suggestions from http://glauxnest.blogspot.com/2012/10/tarot-layouts.html

DIANA’S BOW SPREAD

THE CELTIC CROSS

Another simple and quick method is to ask "What do I need to know right now?" or "What is my best next move?" or similar and then pick one card randomly from the Deck. This is a surprisingly effective method, as is the two card version were the first card is “DO THIS” and the second card is “DON’T DO THIS”. While The Forty Servants is not a Tarot Deck, you can still utilize the well-known spreads in your readings. Here's some links to get you started: - http://www.aeclectic.net/tarot/spreads/ - http://psychiclibrary.com/beyondBooks/tarot-card-spreads/ - https://www.biddytarot.com/easy-three-card-tarot-spreads/ You can do readings for yourself or for other people with this deck. But a caveat when doing reading for yourself - you can be too close to some situations to really get an objective view on it so you might be better served to have someone else do the reading for you. 8

WHAT IS MAGICK? One of the first questions that people ask on Occult forums and discussions boards is: What exactly is Magick? For the answer we can look to many sources who have tried to give a clear, precise and working definition of what it is. Aleister Crowley defined Magick as: “the Science and Art of causing Change to occur in conformity with Will” and later added that “Every intentional act is a Magical Act”. Donald Michael Kraig changed this to: “Magick is the science and art of causing change (in consciousness) to occur in conformity with will, using means not currently understood by traditional Western science”. Alan Chapman believes “Magick is the art of experiencing truth.” but also very correctly states that “There isn’t a man, woman or child on this planet that does not know what magick is”. Gordon White sees Magick as “Probability enhancement”, And someone, somewhere, for the life of me I can’t remember who, defined it as “the art of getting lucky on purpose”. If you know who said this, please email me and let me know, as it is the definition I enjoy the most.

IS MAGICK REAL? To me, this is somewhat the wrong question. The better question is: Is it useful? Besides, what exactly is "real"? Statistically, it appears, or at least it is currently fashionable to suggest, we are more likely to be in a computer simulation than in base reality - so our ideas of "real" may be quite foolish. Though, it’s really hard to say from our current vantage point. My question has always been: Does following the techniques, practices, ideas or systems of Magick lead me closer to health, happiness, satisfaction, prosperity, creativity, contentment or wisdom? If the answer is yes, I keep them, if not, I drop them. The practices and ideas that work best for me are the ones that I have developed into this deck. Now, I am not aiming to convince YOU or anyone else that Magick, Divination or any of the ideas I talk about, are real (again, whatever “real” is), but I have to assume if you are reading this or want to use the Deck, then you must have at least a passing interest or belief in Magick or Divination. But if not, I won't be arguing with you or trying to convince you otherwise. If you don't believe in it then there is nothing anyone can do or say that will change your mind, so 9

argument is pointless. You trying to convince me that I am wrong is also equally pointless, I have heard your arguments before and just don't buy it. No one really has a clue what's going on and to pretend otherwise and demand that someone agrees with how you see life is nothing more than arrogance to me.

DOES IT WORK? Just like Divination Magick works unbelievably well at times and absolutely not at all at other times even with all factors being equal. There is an often touted "get out clause" that suggests that Magick always works but not in the way you wanted. For instance, you do Magick to win the lottery but you don't win it. If Magick is Probability Enhancement, as some suggest, then the Magick worked - it's just that it lowered your odds from 50 million to 1, to 25 Million to 1. A huge feat in itself, but ultimately of no help whatsoever. It also is totally unfalsifiable and therefore a bit useless of an idea. I prefer just to say it did or didn't work. When it works, you'll know it has worked. You feel it. But quickly afterwards the world tries to normalise the event and it becomes less and less Magick seeming as time goes on. Rational thought convinces you of mundane explanations and eventually you doubt the whole experience completely. This is why it is very important to keep a Magick Diary with details of success and failure. Take note of the Feeling when you know the Magick has worked, that seems to be the big indicator to me. People often dismiss the whole phenomenon of thinking about someone and then they phone you, or you meet them, or something similar. Sceptics say that we think about people all the time and when nothing unusual happens and we just forget about it. We only remember the times when something weird occurs and then we convince ourselves that some sort of ESP has occurred. There probably is a lot of truth in this, but I don't totally buy it. When these things happen it feels radically different. I have often thought of people, we all have, but when one of these experiences happen the whole feeling is totally different. It's not the same at all as just thinking of someone. It's a very unique feeling - and to me that's what Magick feels like. When it works. And when it works it really, really works. When it doesn't, you just try again - there really does seems to be a practice element to it. It also seems to work better when you believe it will but this isn’t a total necessity. In my opinion, I think this has more to do with you relaxing and loosening your control or resistance to failure than belief being the key ingredient (yes, yes, I know I now lose my Chaos Magick Member Card :) ). I am pretty sure you could totally not believe it will work and still have it work, as long as you really don't care either way what happens. This is often called removing "Lust of 10

Result" but I don't totally gel with that expression as it implies you can't want something and still get it, or that it’s the act of “wanting” is what stops you from getting the thing you want. I don't believe that. I think the worry that you won't get what you want is a bigger factor in failure than the lust of wanting it. I hope that makes sense. So, I say: want away! Just chill on worrying about it not happening. When you are convinced that something will happen it usually does (the feeling is different). But again, sometimes is just doesn't work and there is no knowable reason, or at least one that is currently acceptable to me. As always, Your Mileage May Vary.

WHAT IS CHAOS MAGICK? Chaos Magick, is a postmodern magical tradition which emphasizes the pragmatic use of belief systems and the creation of new and unorthodox methods. Chaos magic is an attitude, a philosophy that promotes experimentation, play, and creativity while discarding dogmatic rules. It points out that the techniques more than the symbols are what matter and that our belief in a system is actually what makes it work. But for me, Chaos Magick, is about using whatever technique works rather than sticking to the traditional rules and doing it “correctly”. For more information on Chaos Magick I would suggest you read: - Advanced Magick for Beginners by Alan Chapman. - Liber Null and Psychonaut By Peter Carroll - Pieces of Eight by Gordon White - SSOTBME by Ramsey Dukes - Prime Chaos by Phil Hine Or spend some time on the www.Runesoup.com blog and podcast.

WHAT ARE SERVITORS? I have said that each card is also a Servitor, but what exactly is a Servitor? Well, a Servitor is essentially a though-form servant that is created in order to do a particular purpose or fulfil a certain function. If enough people put energy or belief into it, it becomes an Egregore, which is the ultimate aim of this Deck. An example of a servitor would be a huge demon beast which would be told to guard the creator’s home. It’s a bit like a Tulpa, if that word is familiar to you, but not exactly there are a lot of differences. 11

So each of The Forty Servants have a particular role or power that they can be asked to use to aid you. Some are for Protection, some for Good Luck, some for Knowledge and some have a number of functions. Servitors need to be "fed" to stay in existence, but I have set these Servitors to live on attention and from then being used. The more you use them and the more you think about them, the more powerful they will become. In fact, the more other people use them the better they will work for all of us.

WHAT ARE SIGILS? Sigils are an inscribed or painted symbol considered to have magical power. Each Card/Character in the deck has a unique Sigil that can be used to activate the card in your ritual work. These symbols can be used at any time; you don't have to have the cards in front of you to avail of their power and magick.

HOW EXACTLY DO YOU USE THE CARDS FOR MAGICK? OFFERINGS and NOVENAS There are a number of ways that you can incorporate the Servitors into your Magick. The simplest method is pick a Card that you feel will help you solve the problem you are experiencing. Then place it somewhere that no one else will see or disturb it (or on your altar if you have one). Light a candle in front of it and ask for the Servitors help. Speak to it like you would speak to anyone else, as if they are right there in front of you. Lighting incense can also be helpful. For bigger Workings you could do a 3, 5, 7 or 9 Day Novena where you light a fresh candle daily and speak your wishes out loud to the card, as a prayer or just a statement of desire. A public thank you is sometimes offered as "payment" after the desired outcome has been achieved (never give the Thanks offering before then), but this isn't mandatory. Find your own way to thank them, but do thank them.

INVOKING This method involves you identifying with the card and letting the energy come into your body or mind or personality, depending on the desired result. This is probably best explained with an example. Say you have a public talk to give and it terrifies you. You could pick a Card like THE MASTER and invoke him into you. THE MASTER is you when you have all your issues sorted out and when you have become the perfect person you want to be. This perfected person would have no problems talking to people, so for the time of the event you can borrow this energy and wear it as your own. 12

To Invoke, simple see the energy of the card come into your body. Feel what it feels like to be that energy or person. How would that person walk, talk or act? This takes a bit of practice but is quite effective once you get the hang of it.

BINDING and BANISHING Binding, in this case, is when you want to have something bound or attached to you, such as GOOD FORTUNE (The Fortunate), CREATIVITY (The Idea) or SEXUAL PROWESS (The Carnal). To do this you can use the Sigil from the Card and draw it on your body or on something (like a stone or paper) and carry it with you as a Talisman. You can also draw the Sigils in the air (either with your mind or you finger) if you need to use them when you don't have the deck at hand. An example would be to draw THE PROTECTOR sigil in the air if you are in a situation that makes you feel threatened or scared. You can also bind Servitors to other people, but doing this without their permission is sometime considered bad form or if severe enough - Black Magick! I'll leave it up to you to decide on this area. Who am I to tell you what your boundaries should be. To bind other people, use the same techniques above, with the easiest method being to visualise the respective sigil entering their body. This is great for sending Healing (The Healer) or sending Good Luck (The Fortunate), or even to Curse someone (The Desperate or The Depleted). Banishing is when you want to get rid of something. Need to cut ties with a Lover? Then you could draw the sigil of THE LOVERS on a stone and throw it into a lake while stating your intent and desire to be free. If you had someone who is giving you a hard time at work, you could use the Sigil of THE OPPOSER. Write it on a piece of paper and burn it, throw it in the trash or walk to the edge of your town and leave it there without looking back. You could also write the name of the person on paper, add the sigil of the desired Card and then put it in your freezer to chill out. There are plenty of ways to do these things, but the most effective methods will be the ones that you come up with yourself and feel powerful to you.

NOTES: -The Querent is the person asking the question to be answered by the Divination reading. -The Operator is the person who performs the Magick.

13

THE ADVENTURER This Servant is about Adventure, excitement, pushing your boundaries and trying out new things.

DIVINATION: Feeling bored with your life or in a rut? Does nothing every change - are you having the same conversations with the same people about the same topics? Do you long for excitement and adventure and a release from the boring prison of mundane life? When this card appears in a reading it shows a need for something new and wonderful to happen as the Querent's life has become stuck in a rut and has become bored. Life has become Stale and the Querent longs for freshness. This is a call to adventure. Plan an exciting trip, do something you normally wouldn't to, or becomes more spontaneous and see what adventure awaits. Can also denote travel, journeys or a new passion or interest. MAGICK: The Operator can invoke the help of the Adventurer when they need some excitement or adventure in their life. This is a great Servant to invoke if The Operator is feeling bored and want something exciting to happen. But they should be careful what they wish for interesting and exciting times often come with new challenges. Banish if life (or a person) is getting too exciting or too high energy, or is getting out of control - an overload of Adventurer energy can lead to someone becoming quite mercurial in nature and have an inability to sit still or relax. Can also be used to make sure parties and gatherings are successful.

14

THE BALANCER This Servant is all about keeping life Balanced and in harmony.

DIVINATION: When this card appears in a NOW position of a reading it can denote a need for restoring some form of balance in the Querent's current life. Are they spending too much time at work and not enough with their family or having fun? Maybe they are spending too much time on frivolous stuff and not enough time following their passions. Does The Querent feel that they have been given too high a share of the workload or responsibilities? Now is the time to sort that out before it becomes too late and it wears them down. Are their finances getting out of control? Are they spending way more than they earn, or even hoarding what they do earn? This card suggests a need for balance. If life is out of balance in any respect now is the time to look at that and bring harmony to it. You need the good with the bad, and the sweet with the sour to have a fulfilled and contented life. As a future card it suggests that if things feel out of balance at the moment then an equilibrium will be achieved shortly. MAGICK: The Operator can invoke the help of The Balancer when they need to restore order or balance in their life, relationships, work or financial matters. Useful in business matters to keep a healthy balance between expenditure and income. The Balancer is very helpful to restore an equal footing in relationships when The Operator feels someone has gotten the upper hand over them. Making a candle offering and asking for The Balancer to even out the playing field can be quite effective. Also helpful for starting diets or new work out programs or anything where excess needs to be curbed. 15

THE CARNAL This Servant is all about sex, lust, beauty, attraction and physical desires.

DIVINATION: This card is all about sexual attraction and pure base animal desire. Depending on the question asked and the surrounding cards it can denote a need to explore or indulge in sexual impulses or desires. Does The Querent you feel sexy and desirable, or do they feel ugly and unwanted? When this card appears it suggests that now is the time for them to start to feeling good about themselves and their physical needs and wants. The Carnal tells us that our sexual needs are important to well-being and happiness and that we shouldn't be ashamed of them or try to repress them. The Carnal suggests that The Querent should start to express their sexuality in the manner they always wanted to. This card is not about love, it is purely about the physical aspects of sex, physicality and desire. Perhaps The Querent is mistakenly looking for Love when what they really need is to be satisfied sexually. The Querent should allow themselves to feel sexy, desired and passionate. MAGICK: Invoke the help of The Carnal when The Operator needs to feel sexy, passionate and beautiful. The Operator should invoke The Carnal and feel the confidence and charisma of this Servant when they are out to impress. They will start to notice people noticing them in a new light. The Operator can petition The Carnal to assist them in becoming a great lover who is desired by all and leaves lovers wanting more. The Carnal is very useful in aiding the end of a sexual drought or for putting the passion back into a stale relationship. If The Operator is looking for a lusty relationship or a quick fling then an offering to The Carnal can help them get what they need. The Carnal is eager to assist in improving sexual confidence. 16

THE CHASTE This Servant is all about refraining from sex, desire, pleasures and being morally pure.

DIVINATION: This card is all about refraining from base pleasures and instead focusing on less physical goals such as virtue, honour, purity and morality. It is a call to concentrate on other areas of life not just Love, sex or base pleasures. Although at first glance this may seem like a card that calls for restriction or a need to stop having fun, The Chaste is really suggesting that having some discipline or selfcontrol is important to maintaining an overall healthy lifestyle and becoming a more rounded person. When this card appears it suggests that maybe the Querent should spend some less time focusing on their physical wants and desires and instead look inward and start developing other parts of their life - such as friendships, family, self-development or even the overall bigger picture of their life direction and goals. Are they partying too hard and need to pull back and concentrate on more mundane matters? Perhaps the Querent is spending too much time pursuing sexual gratification and not enough time developing other parts of themselves. Has life become all about the next sexual experience? If so, The Chaste suggests now is the time to pull back from that and concentrate on other areas of life. Perhaps some self-development is in order. Perhaps the Querent needs to focus on the needs and wants of other people for a change? Perhaps you just need some time on your own. While it usually is, The Chaste doesn't have to be about taking the focus of pursuing sexual gratification, it can also be pointing at the need to lessen any pursuit that the Querent is focusing on to the detriment of other areas of life. 17

MAGICK: The Operator can invoke or petition the help of The Chaste if they are trying to pull back from a hedonistic lifestyle and want to move into a more restrained section of their life. The Chaste is also helping in reducing the advances of unwanted amorous admirers, or sexual partners whose sex drive is more than the operator wants or can handle. The Chaste can assist in matter where purity is needed, including purity of mind. Perhaps the Operator finds themselves attracted to someone they really shouldn't be. A candle offering to The Chaste can be made to ask that this attraction be purified.

18

THE CONDUCTOR This Servant is all about taking control of your circumstances and orchestrating the surrounding events to your desires.

DIVINATION: This card is all about The Querent being in control of the world around them. Are they the Conductor leading the orchestra or are they one of the minor players? Are they even in beat with the music that’s being played? This card suggest that the Querent takes a look at the circumstances of their life and see what roles they are playing. Are they just reacting to life and accepting all that comes their way or are they taking the lead and making their life what they want it to be? Are they in flow with the music and rhythm of their life and the world or are they out of step with the beat. Is the soundtrack to their lives an upbeat triumphant chorus of Angels or a lonely solo violin weeping mournfully in the rain? The Conductor calls to the Querent to take more control over their life and to direct the music of this existence to what they want rather than just march along to the beat of others. The Querent can do wondrous things and while they may never be fully in control of every event that occurs in their life, they can control and direct their life music to a more individual, beautiful and inspiring tune. MAGICK: The Conductor is the Magician of the Orchestra, using his Wand to control the music and rhythm to his preference. The Operator can invoke The Conductor to aid them in doing this in their own life. The Conductor can help them take control of events, relationships, jobs, circumstances or anything that surrounds them and put their own stamp on it. The conductor can show The Operator how to move and manipulate the events of your life so that they become more harmonious and pleasing to you. The Conductor is a 19

wonderful Servant to enlist when the Operator feels they don't have control or autonomy in any situations they face. A candle offering request to show the Operator how to weave the music of life to their liking and rhythm is very effective.

20

THE CONTEMPLATOR This Servant is all about using the collective subconscious mind to solve problems.

DIVINATION: When The Contemplator appears in a reading is suggest that the Querent is overthinking and over-analysing situations and events and there is a need to pull back and withdraw from the problem for a period. Some problems are best solved by leaving them alone for the time being, sleeping on them or just stopping thinking them altogether. The Contemplator suggests that the Querent turns their problem over to their Subconscious to solve for them. Let the problem fall to the back of their mind and let the subconscious come up with some conclusions or resolutions. This card is all about the need to let go of a problem for the time being and see what new ideas or solutions pop up or wait to see if the problem or event changes in nature. MAGICK: Any problem can be handed over to The Contemplator for processing and a solution found. The Operator can mentally visualise handing the issue over to The Contemplator and then try as best as they can to put it all out of their minds. Within the next few hours or days the solution will suddenly appear fully formed in their mind. For bigger problems, a Candle offering can be made in front of the image of The Contemplator and a solution to the problem asked to present itself. A full explanation about the nature of the problem and all pertinent information should be spoken by The Operator out loud. In a very simple, but highly effective way The Conductor can help The Operator remember details they have temporarily forgotten, such as phone numbers, people's names, or where you left your keys. The Operator should offer the problem up to The Contemplator and wait for the reply. It shouldn’t be forced or pressured.

THE DANCER This Servant is all about accepting that sometimes things just don't work out as planned and that's OK.

DIVINATION: When this Card appears in a reading it is a signal that sometimes the best thing the Querent can do when it rains is dance naked in it. Life is hard and sometimes things just don't go the desired way no matter what is done. This is an inevitable part of life. Sometimes, despite our finest efforts we just lose. And that's OK. The Dancer, however, is here to remind the Querent that it's not OK to just give up. The Dancer suggests that rather than spiraling into depression or becoming disheartened that instead the Querent should rejoice in the effort made, and dance in the rain. Life may be falling apart around them but The Dancer reminds the Querent that they are still in control of their reaction towards it. They can choose to fall apart or they can choose to laugh with it. The Dancer reminds the Querent that even a failure can be celebrated as it brings with it the lessons that will get them closer to their goals. When life is tough, The Dancer calls out to take things less seriously and just enjoy the moment, no matter what that moment is. MAGICK: A candle offering made to The Dancer will help you stay afloat when times are tough or your plans have failed. Invoke The Dancer when you need to pick yourself up and get back into the game. Ask the Dancer to help you see the good even in the darkness moments. Ask The Dancer to show you the prettiness of the Rain and the joy of the Dance. Let The Dancer show you how to not give up no matter what.

22

THE DEAD This Servant is about learning from the past, and not making the same mistakes over and over.

DIVINATION: This card is all about the lessons learned from history – the Querent’s own personal history or our collective human history. The Dead suggests that the Querent should heed the lessons, warnings or advice from those who have gone before them - whether that be people who have done or gone through similar events or challenges before, or generally just being mindful of the warnings from history. The Dead Card asks The Querent to reflect on past experiences so that they don't make the same mistakes again. The card reminds the Querent that there is a huge amount of wisdom and available to them from the previous experiences of the entire population of the world, including all who have long since died. The Dead suggests that the Querent relooks at what has gone before then and try to learn the lessons of the past. For instance, are they making the same mistakes in this relationship as the previous ones? Are they ignoring the experiences of those who have gone before them and think only they know best? Are they dismissing an old fashioned idea or method simply because it is old? Are they ignoring messages and teachings of deceased friends, relatives or people of note? Depending on the rest of the spread, sometimes when this Card appears in a reading it means something has died or is about to die. This usually isn't a person or any living things (although it can be) it is more likely to be the end of an era, passion or interest, relationship, job, or the end of a certain period in the Querent's life. However, this is more the domain of The Depleted Card. MAGICK: The Dead can be used for general Ancestor work. An offering to The Dead is an offering to your Ancestors and the Mighty Dead to thank them for all they have done. Without 23

them the Operator would not exist. Old hatreds or arguments with the Operator’s Dead friends or relatives can be appeased or mended by using The Dead Servant as a conduit between the parties. A candle offering can be made in front of The Dead image and the Operator can ask that She carries messages to the deceased. A separate candle offering can be then made to the deceased person and forgiveness sought or offered, joy expressed, love received, or whatever is needed or desired. The Dead is an exceptional Servant to use for healing. If there are parts of the Operator’s past that need healing an offering to The Dead and a request that healing occurs can be extremely beneficial. Sending love or comfort to a time in their life when the Operator needed it most can be very helpful. The Dead Servant can be used to connect to any part of the past, including family history or even the history of the location the Operator is located. The Dead can be asked for guidance or help on any matter or any situation as this servant is hugely knowledgeable being that She has access to the entire history of human thought and deed. If someone close to the Operator passes, they can ask The Dead to help bring them safely to the other side.

24

THE DEPLETED This Servant tells us that all our resources have been used up and we need to take time to replenish our stores.

DIVINATION: When this card appears it usually means that the Querent has run out of energy, money, supplies or resources and that they should stop and rest before any permanent damage is done. The Querent has put all they can into a particular situation and they have burnt themselves out. All power, energy and will to continue has been sapped from them. The Depleted suggests that the only solution is to retreat and restock, regrow and allow the cycles of life to move onto the next, hopefully more rewarding stage. Winter has come and growth is now over. The days are dark and the nights long and no amount of renewed effort can change that. Something in the Querent's life has run its course and needs to be allowed to end or come to a rest. All things naturally have an end point and it can be sometimes hard to let things go, but we must if we are to continue to grow rather than wither and die. What are they not letting go off that has ceased to be of value. Is there a situation that saps all their energy or time that needs to be put to bed for good? Has a relationship gone on too long that now there is nothing of value in it for anyone? Time to let the dying things die, so that new things can grow. MAGICK: The Depleted can be used to remove energy from any situation. This lends itself easy to any sort of Curse work, where the Operator can instruct The Depleted to deplete the energy stores or resources of an enemy. While The Depleted can be used to put an end to any situation, relationship or endeavor, it must be noted that in cases of attack, the results can easily spread to innocent peripheral people or situations, so use with caution. 25

The Depleted can be used safely in personal matters to easily end things that have come to their natural conclusion but just refuse to complete cease such as lingering legal matters or Ex's that want to still hang around.

26

THE DESPERATE This Servant tells us that everything is currently as bad as it can get. This is the Nadir. This is hell.

DIVINATION: When this card appears in a reading it is a sign that The Querent is going through an intense period of depression, sadness or hopelessness where things feel about as bad as they possibly can be and no end seems to be in sight. If you are looking for the worst card in the deck, then this is it. The Querent is feeling frustrated, angry, and hopeless all at the same time. Nothing matters, no one cares, nothing works out, everything is pointless and only the end of physical life seems like an escape - even that is unsure as who knows if death is actually worse? This is crisis time for The Querent and it must be taken seriously for those around them. The Querent has found himself in a hole that they probably won't be able to get out of by themselves. As a future card The Desperate is a suggestion that unless the Querent makes big changes in the direction they are headed things are not going to work out and the future may become quite bleak. It's worth noting that The Desperate is a card of Emotion and the life circumstance may not appear to the onlooker as anything that bad. It might even look good, but to the Querent, they are in hell and everything is bleak. If there is an upside to this card, it is that things probably can't get any worse. This is as low and terrible as it gets. Life is cyclical and nothing last forever. When The Querent gets to the other side of this Initiation they will be all the better for it and a much stronger person.

27

MAGICK: Love and healing can be sent to The Desperate as an embodiment of all the pain and suffering in the world and throughout history. Offerings made to The Desperate will aid all those enduring suffering and hardship. The Desperate can be banished; The Operator can place the sigil on a stone and throw it into the sea, or write the sigil on paper and burn or bury it. Like The Depleted Servant, The Desperate also lends itself easily to curse work. Sending The Desperate to torture an enemy is very effective but obviously if things can go too far the responsibility will be yours. This is the worst Servant, the most horrible and the most severe - He is also the most likely to lose control of. Use only if necessary.

28

THE DEVIL This Servant reminds of the restrictions and binds we place upon ourselves.

DIVINATION: The Devil card appears when something the Querent believes is blocking or restricting them. The Devil shows the Querent that they are needlessly restricting themselves because of some rule they have decided to live by or believe. When this card appears in a reading it is a reminder to the Querent to look at what beliefs they have about the situation or problem and see if they are useful or not. The chances are that deep down they don't really believe the rule to be a good rule, but they follow it out of a sense of duty or because they always have. We have many rules about how we should behave or act, what is acceptable and what isn't, and even what we are allowed to enjoy and what we shouldn't enjoy because "it's wrong". The Devil shows us that it is only us that is making these distinctions - there isn't an ultimate and true morality. Sometimes the Querent uses these rules to make themselves feel superior to other people, but at the same time they are restriction themselves from true joy and happiness. The Devil suggests that the pride of the former isn't worth the lack of the latter. The Devil calls for the Querent to let go of guilt and allow themselves to do or behave the way they want to not the way they feel they should or must. MAGICK: The Devil Servant can be used to help break the chains that bind the Operator due to their beliefs about what is right and what is wrong. When the Operator come across themselves acting on a belief that they no longer want to be restricted by, a simple visualization of the Sigil pushing the belief away from the body can be quite effective.

29

Candle offerings can be used to The Devil to ask him for aid in showing the Operator the limiting beliefs they have that are holding them back. These will appear in situations and events in the Operators life, so be sure that preparation is made for them to arise. In Attack Magick, The Devil can be used to bind someone to continue deeper and deeper in their folly. If the Operator sees that someone is doing harm to themselves because of their self-imposed beliefs, they can send The Devil to push them further into it, bringing it front and center in their lives. This always eventually leads to the victim fully learning the lesson and overcoming the restriction or being totally engulfed by it, destroying themselves in the process.

30

THE EXPLORER This Servant shows us that we must broaden our horizons.

DIVINATION: This card is all about personal growth, self-development and becoming more of who you really are. We can sometimes forget that our lives are lived predominately in a small bubble such as our families, our place of work or social group and we must remind ourselves that there is a huge world out there external from us that we can explore. In fact, there is an entire universe waiting to be discovered. We can forget just how big we are because we have concentrated on the small. It's time for the Querent to start breaking out of their comfort zones and explore new areas or opportunities. Unlike The Adventurer card which usually denotes fun and exciting times this Card mostly signals a period of learning and self-discovery that can sometimes be painful to experience. All growth is somewhat painful as the old must die for the new to live. The Querent, it is suggested, should do a personal development course, read some selfhelp books, take up Yoga or begin a Meditation practice. If they already do these things, then The Explorer tells them to up your game or move into new areas of development. The Explorer is a call to the Querent to realise that they can be much more than they currently are letting themselves be. It’s time to widen themselves, push themselves and see just what they are capable of. The Explorer tells the Querent to set bigger goals, learn new skills, overcome limiting beliefs and go explore more about who they really are and the brilliance and potential they have within ready to show itself. MAGICK: The Explorer can be invoked by The Operator when they need to break out of their 31

comfort zones, widen their horizons or help them go up a level in their personal development. Invoking The Explorer will show the Operator just how big they and their world actually is, and how to make themselves even bigger, wider, more powerful and more complete. The Explorer can be used to aid in all and any self-development goals. The Explorer will help them become the person they are ultimately to become. Offerings to The Explorer can be made to aid the Operator in discovering talents or abilities they weren't aware they possess. He can teach them the skills and knowledge they need to become a stronger and better person.

32

THE EYE This Servant reminds us that all is as it should be.

DIVINATION: When the Eye appears in a reading it is a sign that all is going to plan, even if it doesn't appear so from The Querent's perspective. The rub is of course that the plan that is on track is the Divine plan which may not be in align with the Querent's plan. The advice given by this card is that even if life appears to be all wrong or falling apart it will all work out for the best. The Querent will eventually end up in the place they are meant to be in and when they look back they will see how every moment had to occur for everything to fall into place. This card is also a sign that someone or something is looking out for the Querent and that help is being given even if it is not felt. Ultimately, The Eye is a reminder of the existence of a higher being or beings watching over us, guiding and helping us from a far. MAGICK: The Eye is the Operator’s connection to the Super Consciousness, of which that their Consciousness is just a microcosm of. Invoking The Eye will infuse them with spirit and divine presence. This presence is the original thought that existed at the beginning of all things and will be there at the very end - it is consciousness in the fullest sense. It is all things. This can take many shapes and will present itself to each Operator in very different forms and ideas. Offerings can be made to The Eye to help all things become more in-sync with the higher calling of life. Prayers of thanks and gratitude can be made to The Eye for the safety, healing or happiness of all sentient beings in the Universe.

33

THE FATHER This Servant offers Guidance, Wisdom and Advice.

DIVINATION: When the Father appears in a reading it means that someone will appear in the Querent’s life to offer guidance and wisdom on how to deal with our current issue or problem. However, it may be that the Querent may need to seek out such a person if none are at hand. This Card tells the Querent that it is OK to look for help, guidance or rely on the wisdom of other more experienced people. Someday you may know all the answers but for the time being it is wiser to ask someone who will be able to steer you on the right path. The Father loves his child (The Querent) and only wants the best for them, but he knows that sometimes tough love may be the best solution. The Father Card tells the Querent that they may be about to hear something they don't like but that ultimately it is the correct thing. But not always, The Father is full of love and will offer all help that he has at his disposal. The Father tells that Querent that Advice and help is on offer and that they only have to ask. MAGICK: The Father can be evoked by the Operator and advice and guidance sought from him on any area that The Operator needs. As stated above the advice may not always be what the Operator wants to hear but deep down they know it is the right move. Candle offerings to The Father work well when guidance on a big decision needs to be made - Should I switch jobs? Is now a good time to sell? What is the best way to deal with this issue or person? A great Servant for any time when Guidance, advice or wisdom is needed. 34

THE FIXER This Servant reminds us that everything can be fixed...but at a cost.

DIVINATION: Any problem or challenge that The Querent has can be solved, but there is always some cost involved in the solution. When The Fixer appears in a reading it is asking the question: Are you willing to pay the price for what you want? The Fixer suggests that the Querent can get what they want but they will have to accept the costs that go with it. Paying the price, however, doesn't always mean something terrible. The cost of writing a book, for instance, is the longs months or years sitting on your own writing it - dealing with the frustrations, and the pain that goes with writing. For some people that pain is totally worth it, for others it really isn't. The Fixers wants The Querent to think about the costs involved in the resolution of their own situation and if they are willing to accept the price. Is the resolution of the problem worth the cost or is it better just to walk away? MAGICK: The Fixer is used when all else has failed. The Fixer can find a solution to the Operator’s problem and will bring it to a resolution but the Operator will have to pay the price! However, not all costs are easy to recognise, so the price of business may not be known may not know until it’s too late. To set The Fixer to work, the Operator should make a candle offering in front of his Image and explain the circumstances of the problem, and tell him that he should fix it, Finally, and most importantly, the Operator should say out loud that they will accept whatever the cost is. Use with caution, but very effective.

35

THE FORTUNATE This Servant shows us just how good life can be.

DIVINATION: If The Desperate is the worst card in the deck then this is certainly the best. When The Fortunate appears in a reading it is a sign for that either everything is going really great for The Querent or is just about to. The Fortunate is a herald of prosperous times, life is good, things are easy and the future is bright. If the card is chosen as an answer to a question, then the answer is a resounding YES! The Fortunate tells The Querent that it's time to live and be happy, to be joyful and relaxed in the knowledge that everything is going perfectly. The sun is shining bright on the Querent, all the Omens are good and all worries are vanishing. Always a great card to see. MAGICK: The Fortunate is very effective in all money magick workings. Candle offerings in front of the image of The Fortunate while asking for good luck and good fortune in money are usually very successful. It is suggested that the Operator start small rather than going for billions immediately. While everything is possible, Magick works best with the probable - a pay rise is a better ask than a lottery win. However, the best money magic always seems to happen when the least amount of stipulations as possible are placed on the outcome. The Fortunate can also be petitioned for luck in any endeavor, including exams, job interviews, opening new businesses, gambling, sports and even bargain hunting. An invoking of The Fortunate is advised any time need to feel lucky arises. For Curse work you can petition The Fortunate to change the good luck of someone into bad luck. Being lucky works both ways, after all. 36

THE GATE KEEPER This Servant holds the key to every door.

DIVINATION: The Gate Keeper Card suggests that The Querent feels like they are being locked out of something - a clique, a career path, opportunities, family secrets, a group or even physical places such as a new house. It may be just a feeling or it may be very much the case. The Querent can be locked out because of their own actions, the actions of others or circumstances. Other cards in the reading may suggest where the fault lies, or it might be quite obvious to The Querent. The Gate Keeper says that there are always ways to get access and it is just a matter of find the correct procedure or to contact the right person. This Card can also suggest that secrets or information is being deliberately kept or withheld from the Querent. Someone or something is being hidden from view. Someone is keeping a secret. MAGICK: The Gate Keeper holds the keys to the Other side, Heaven, The Underworld, Astral Plane, Hell, or any other spiritual plane or area, and he can be petitioned to allow the Operator access in order to speak to those who dwell there. A request of "Please open the door Gate Keeper, so I may pass and speak to those on the other side" with offerings of Candles or incense upon your return, is very effective. The Gate Keeper, can help locate lost or stolen items as no doors or closed to him and for the same reason is exceptional at revealing secrets or hidden things. The Gate Keeper can grant you access to places or opportunities that are normally locked to you- such as jobs, social circles or social clubs.

37

THE GIVER This Servant reminds us to be Generous and Grateful.

DIVINATION: The Giver is an indication that a gift is about to be given - this can take many forms: an unexpected gift of money, some good news, generosity from a stranger, a miracle, a heartfelt gift from a friend or something that touches your heart. The Giver is all about generosity and gratitude, and the giving and taking exchange. When this card appears in a reading it is a sign for The Querent to remember all the gifts and generosity that have been given to them. It is easy to forget how nice people in our live scan be and this card reminds us to be grateful for them. The Giver is also about Miracles and Divine Gifts - those unexpected occurrences that seem to come from nowhere that changes everything or saves us from the depths. Watch out for them, this card may suggest one is on the way. MAGICK: The Giver is very useful when trying to make business deals or are involved in any sort of exchange or trade agreement. Offerings can be made so that the deal turns out fair for all sides. The Giver can be petitioned by the Operator when they need a minor miracle, but like The Fixer a price must be paid. The price in this case is that you have to return the favour to someone else. The Giver can be used in any working where exchanges are being made. Can be helpful in case where forgiveness is offered but not accepted in smoothing things over.

38

THE HEALER This Servant reminds us to look after ourselves and others.

DIVINATION: The Healer suggest that you may be in danger of getting sick or worn out. This sickness may not be physical; it can be emotional or even spiritual. The arrival of The Healer in a reading suggest that now is the time for the Querent to start looking after themselves. Perhaps they should go get a check up with a doctor or start a healthier eating regime. The Healer also suggest that they should consider exercising more and becoming as physically fit and healthy as possible. The Healer can also denote the arrival of a person in The Querent's life who will bring with them healing energy or being a soothing and healing influence. Perhaps someone from the past that wants to settle old hurts. It could also be someone new who just has very curative presence. If this card appears and The Querent is currently sick, then it is a sign that they are on the road to recovery as long as all precautions have been met. MAGICK: The Healer can be used for all healing work. This ranges from general "healing the world" offerings to more focused healing on a particular person (or event). Candle offerings work well with The Operator asking The Healer to look after their loved ones while they are sick or when asking for healing for themselves. NOTE: The Healer is in no way meant as an alternative to your Doctor or conventional medical treatment. If you are sick, get checked out by a professional.

Drawing the sigil above sick people (either physically with the hand or just visualising it with the mind) while asking for The Healer's presence can be helpful. The Healer can also be called to protect and keep safe those who work in the healing, medicine and rescue services.

39

THE IDEA This Servant tells us that Creativity is all around us and we just have to grasp it.

DIVINATION: When The Idea appears in a reading it is to remind The Querent that they have been given an idea for something that could be expanded upon and brought into existence. These ideas don't hang round for too long and you if they hesitate they may find themselves looking at someone else bring "their" idea to fruition. The Idea wanders around looking for people who will take the seed and make something big out of it. The Idea doesn't care who the person is, it just wants to get out into the world through whatever person is able and willing to do it. The Idea card urges the Querent that now is the time to develop the ideas they have rather than letting them linger in the back of their minds to work on "someday" - that someday is now and if they don't act someone else will. MAGICK: The Idea is great for any magic that inspires creativity. The Idea is excellent for invoking when at the start of a creative project or when some fresh ideas are needed. The Operator can place the sigil in their office or work place so that a constant flow of ideas and creativity come their way. Candle Offerings to The Idea to help motivate the Operator’s team/group/friends to be more creative can also be very effective. It is possible to use The Idea to bind an Idea to oneself so that no one else uses it, but some Ideas are so strong that they just need to get out. Always better to act now than regret it later.

40

THE LEVITATOR This Servant shows us how to rise above it all and see things from a different angle.

DIVINATION: It is easy to take life too seriously or be so rooted in a problem that it is all you can see. The Levitator suggests to the Querent that they rise above it all and stop playing the game. Will they care about any of this a month from now? A year from now? Ten years from now? The chances are that the problems that feel all-consuming presently to The Querent will so be nothing more than a memory and their sting or bite will be long gone. The Levitator may also suggest that The Querent should become the bigger person in a problem situation or argument and perhaps allow the other person to win for the sake of peace or make the first move towards reconciliation after a falling out. When The Levitator appears in a reading it is a suggestion for the Querent to look at the issues at hand from a different angle. MAGICK: The Operator can use The levitator in times when they feel that life is getting too much to handle or if problem after problem is mounting up. The Levitator can show them their situation from a higher perspective, where the bigger picture is more clearly seen. If there is a need for The operator to be the "bigger person" advice can be sought from The Levitator on what is the best approach. The Levitator can also be used by The Operator if they are perusing the development of the siddhis. Invoking is key to this.

41

THE LIBRARIAN This Servant reminds us of the need to study, increase knowledge and learn new skills.

DIVINATION: The Librarian is all about studying, researching and gaining information. It can be a sign that education and learning of some form is important to The Querent or that it is about to play a big part in their life. The Librarian is mostly connected to formal education, but self-learning rather being taught by a Teacher is not to be ruled out as a possibility. When The Librarian appears in a reading there will be a sense of a need for further knowledge on a subject or problem, or a need by The Querent to research or someway get their noses into the books. Might suggest a return to education or doing course work. MAGICK: The Librarian is a great Servant to use if the Operator are looking for a hard to find book. A Candle offering made with the name of the book to be found has worked terrifically in the past. Audiobooks, PDFs or any sort of media can also be asked for. Equally if the Operator is looking for a certain piece of information, The Librarian is a great Servant to help with tracking it down. The Operator can ask for what they need and will subsequently see the information come to them totally by coincidence. The Librarian is also very useful for Operators studying or taking exams. A candle offering or even better a Novena is found to be very effective around exam time.

42

THE LOVERS This Servant represents the Love that appears after the Lust has been satisfied.

DIVINATION: The Lovers is not about Sex or lust - it is about Intimacy and acceptance. It's about partnerships, trust and synergy. It's about two separate people or things joining as one. The Lovers recalls that moment after the lust has been satisfied and the involved still want the other person to be close to them. It's the relationship after the honeymoon period where the couple really fall in Love as people rather than lovers. The Lovers reminds The Querent about the closeness and comfort that forms in great relationships. When The Lovers appears in a reading it tells The Querent that there is a need for partnership – but not necessarily romantic partnership, The Lovers often signals business partnerships or new significant friendships, but often it represents romantic relationships. As a future card can herald a new and wonderful relationship. MAGICK: The Lovers can be used when the Operator is looking for a lasting relationship, it is not a Servant for those looking for quick and easy love hook-ups with no strings attached (The Carnal is a great Servant for that area). Instead The Lovers is used to attract a mate or long-term relationship. The Lovers is also great when trying to make a relationship more loving, warm or generally closer. Candle, rose Incenses, or indeed rose flowers themselves make great offerings when the Operator petitions The Lovers for help. The Lovers Servant is great to seek advice from when wanting to move a current relationship to the next level or when significant changes need to be made to the relationship without wanting to cause long-term or irrevocable damage.

43

THE MASTER This Servant represents the completed evolution of the Querent or Operator.

DIVINATION: The Card asks: What would the Querent do if they were the best version of themselves? How would they deal with the situations at hand from the point of view of an enlightened being. The Master is the Querent on their very best day - it's them on the day when them are able to handle everything the world throws at them - and with style. The Master knows in the moment what the best approach is, what to say and how to react. If the Querent was the person they wanted to be what would they do, say, think or behave? This can be applied to a current difficult situation or in times when there is need for extra strength or confidence. The Querent should think of the person they were 5 or 10 or 20 years ago and how much more they know now about life now than they did then. Now they should think about how much they would know if they lived to be 1000 or until the end of time. How would this version of them (the ideal, or Master version) deal with their current situations, goals, worries or relationships. What would the perfected person do? MAGICK: The Master Servant is the connection to the Operator's Holy Guardian Angel/ Daemon/ Perfected Self/ Higher Self/ Ascended Master/ Watcher or whatever name they choose to call it. The operator can use the image of the servant as a gateway to communication with the HGA. Offerings and Prayer work very effectively, as does carrying the sigil on the person. Meditation upon the image of the card, or sigil, along with the intention to make contact can be highly effective. Remember The Master is also the Operator so they are not bowing down and worshipping a divine being, they are simply acknowledging their divinity in its complete form. 44

What the actual Nature of the HGA/Watcher is, is way too long and deep of a topic to discuss here. For further information, look to the works of Aleister Crowley, the Simonomicon or the Baptist Head Trilogy by Alan Chapman and Duncan Barford.

45

THE MEDIA This Servant reminds us that world around you may not be at all what it seems.

DIVINATION: When this card appears in a spread it is a warning to the Querent that everything is not as it seems. They are being fed a story that isn't the full truth, or has been spun to make one side look more favorable than the other. A story is being presented that is designed to create a certain reaction or response. This version of the truth may be to fool the Querent or it may be that someone is trying to spare their feelings. Either way, the truth is not being told. Things are probably not as they seem, there is a level of spin, lies, manipulation and fraud. This card may also suggest that The Querent is being influenced by outside forces to think or believe a certain way, and it is up to the Querent to try to now ascertain the real truth of the situation. The world around them may not be at all what it seems. The Media calls for The Querent to make their own judgements about events and not rely so heavily on other people's opinions and views. May also suggest that someone is slandering or spreading gossip or lies about The Querent. Also very much a reminder that you shouldn't believe everything you hear, read or see on the internet, newspapers, or on TV. MAGICK: The Media servant is used to help see the truth of a situation, to distinguish the lies from the facts or to get a better feel or read of a situation or event. The Media is also useful in propaganda and self-promotion, to gain publicity or in getting “the Word out”. The Media can help with getting a good image of you or your product presented to the world, in restoring the Operator's good name after a period of it being tarnished or in making people see the operator in a good light. In Curse work The Media is very useful in aiding to destroy the good name or public standing of an enemy. 46

THE MESSENGER This Servant is all about communication.

DIVINATION: The is a sign that someone or something is trying to communicate with The Querent and perhaps they aren't giving the message their full attention. Sometimes The Querent can be so wrapped up in an event that it just can't see the good news in front of them. However, this Card can also be a sign that The Querent isn't facing up to some truth or is refusing to see other points of view. Is there something that people aren't allowed to speak about around the Querent, for instance? The Card is a general indicator to listen to the communication around you and to make sure that you are heeding, receiving and being receptive to all messages. Someone is trying to tell The Querent something, but are they listening? MAGICK: The Messenger is useful for anything to do with communication such as sending or receiving emails, giving talks or presentations, any sort of public speaking, writing blogs, or any sort of publicity. Also helpful when trying to get through to someone on a topic or idea. This Servant can be used to get people talking again after arguments or when communication falls apart. The Messenger is also useful in getting a message to someone who is now long out of touch or is refusing to communicate with you. To ask The Messenger to deliver your message, write it down on a piece of paper, fold it over and put the persons' name on it. Then make a candle offering to The Messenger in front of its image. When the Candle has burned down near its end use the flame to burn your message and then blow or throw the ash into the wind.

THE MONK This Servant reminds us to keep life simple.

DIVINATION: When The Monk appears in a reading it can be a sign that The Querent is overloading their life with too much "stuff" and the best course of action would be to simplify their life a bit. The Monk calls for silence, calm, relaxation and time away from the rat race. The Monk suggests Meditation, introspection and contemplative exercises designed to slow you down and focus on the now. The Monk suggests that a period of quiet and calm may be the best medicine for what ails The Querent. Quiet time without TVs or Mobile devices or the internet may be in order, along with walks in nature or doing things that you enjoy just to enjoy them - not to learn, not to better yourself, not to get ahead - just for enjoyment and relaxation. The Monk asks the Querent do they need all the “stuff” that they have surrounded themselves with or could they let go of some of it? MAGICK: The Monk can be used any time you want to enter into a period of peace, calm or simplicity. A very useful Servant to keep in your Meditation area and a quick prayer or offering before your Meditation practice can be beneficial. If life is getting a bit too much or complicated for The Operator, then an invocation of The Monk can be very useful to aid in getting life more simple and quiet. The Monk is very useful in banishing rituals to rid the Operators life of needless baggage.

THE MOON This Servant shows us the light in the darkness.

DIVINATION: But The Moon is about Hope. In the darkness of the black night The Moon can show us the light (even if it isn't its own light and merely a reflection). The Moon is the light at the end of the tunnel. But a word of caution: hope can set The Querent up for a big fall, after all Hope is a dangerous thing. That said, Hope is sometimes the only thing that can get you through the night, and also, sometimes we get more than we hoped for. The Moon often represents the Querent’s ‘shadow’ self - the bits of them that they don't want to acknowledge. The Querent should try to become aware of any tendencies to project fear and anxiety onto the events or people that surround them, and try turning it into positive and constructive energy. Life reflects back to the Querent their thoughts and beliefs in the same way the Moon reflects the sun’s light. The Moon is an interesting card and can represent a number of things depending on the question asked or the surrounding cards. The Moon has no light of its own and only reflects the light of the Sun, which can suggest illusion or falseness in some aspect of The Querent's life - Is someone pretending to be something they are not, or is the Querent pretending to be someone or something they aren’t? This is made more likely if The Media Card also appears in a reading. MAGICK: The Moon is an extremely useful Servant for seeing past the illusions of daily life, people and The Operator's own self-deception. Offerings can be made to enable The Operator to see past the story and locate the truth. The Sigil can be used in conversations or interactions to aid in seeing if someone is being deceitful or lying, or to see if what appears to be happening is actually the truth. The Operator may find The Moon Servant very helpful in Shadow work to enable them to see the repressed and unknowns side s of the personality that hold them back. This can be extremely hard and torturous work but also probably the most rewarding in 49

terms of genuine clarity and happiness in life. The Moon works extremely well on the night of the Full Moon, as one would expect.

50

THE MOTHER This Servant is all about Fertility, Security and Nurturing.

DIVINATION: The Mother Card comes to show The Querent that life is offering them love, affection, nurturing and unconditional love. The Querent is reminded that they are allowed to be whatever or whoever they want and all they have to do is move ever closer towards their goals. This card is a huge hug from the Universe, full of acceptance, love and affection. Everything, right now, is OK. The Querent can relax and feel safe in the sweet embrace of The Ever loving Mother. This card shows a need to be loved and looked after by life. The Querent feels the need to be nurtured by life and the appearance of this Card suggest that this can be a reality. The Mother card can also be a sign of pregnancy, or the beginning of a new period in The Querent's life such as new job, new relationships or new home. The Mother always heralds the birth of new things rather than the end of old things. MAGICK: The Mother is helpful when you need to feel loved by life. Evoke The Mother to feel the unconditional love that is available to The Operator at any moment. The Mother is very useful for people wishing to conceive or start a family. Candle offerings and Novenas are suggested. The Mother is very helpful in all Magick concerning children and family. The Mother can be petitioned to keep children safe and out of trouble and to make sure they feel loved and appreciated. The Mother can be Invoked to aid in becoming a better parent or guardian. The Mother is useful in all types of Fertility Magick including Money Magick. As an embodiment of The Earth, The Mother can be invoked to help with stability, growth and strength. 51

THE OPPOSER This Servant represents all the Opposition and Restrictions imposed by others.

DIVINATION: While The Devil Card points at restrictions from within The Querent, The Opposer is pointing at restrictions from outside the Querent. When The Opposer appears in a reading it is an indication that The Querent is being restricted by outside forces or influences. Someone or something is stopping the Querent from getting their way - this could be laws, social customs, family obligations or traditions or social pressure, but often represents an actual person in The Querent's life. The Querent can overcome this resistance but it will come in the form of a battle. The Opposer will never back down unless confronted and even then may get worse before a solution is found, which often results in The Querent walking away - but not always; this isn't a card of failure or defeat. It's a sign that a battle is ahead and The Querent must prepare themselves for that. The Opposer Card reminds The Querent that for the most part these restrictions aren't actually real in absolute sense, but going against them will usually come with a penalty or punishment. The Querent can drive his car at any speed they desire, but if caught they will have to face the consequences and pay the fine. MAGICK: The Opposer Servant can be banished when someone appears in The Operator's life that is getting in the way of what is planned or is placing restrictions on The Operator. Sigils written on stones and thrown into the sea or a river, or sigils on paper burned are useful methods. In Baneful Magick, The Opposer can be sent to restrict an enemy in their plans. Also useful when trying to stop new laws being created, or to stop decisions. Useful in cases such as restricting planning permission or permits.

52

THE PLANET This Servant reminds us how immense and awe inspiring the universe actually is.

DIVINATION: The Planet moves round the Universe in a precise orbit and trajectory. It reminds The Querent of the Patterns of life and the different seasons that they must go through. The Planet also suggests to The Querent to view life in the cosmic sense for a moment. To see the huge tapestry and wonder of creation for a moment and to ponder what it is all about. The Universe is a vast and ancient place and has experienced more than humans could possibly imagine. But within majestic creation with its history and mystery, The Querent finds themselves. The Planet asks The Querent to remember that they are as much part of creation as the Planets, the Solar Systems, The Suns, and the Galaxies- they are a child of the stars and should try to remember that when life seems not worth living, worth the effort or is too hard. There is a huge mystery here and The Querent is an important part of it. However, if The Querent is taking themselves too seriously or feeling that they are of immense importance to the Universe or Humanity as a whole then The Planet arrives to remind them that the life of The Querent is just a tiny, tiny fraction of all that has occurred and no matter what they do or achieve it doesn't really amount to anything on the grand scale of things. The Planet reminds The Querent to remember their individual insignificance and to stop claiming to be more than they actually are. The Planet also speaks to The Querent to make him look at what they have captured in their atmosphere and gravitational pull. Is everything in The Querent's Orbit helpful and useful or have they surrounded themselves with junk? Extra note should be taken of this if this card appears with The Monk. MAGICK: The Planet is an extremely useful servant in rituals where the Operator needs to feel extremely big and powerful. 53

The Planet is useful for big magick where massive results are needed. The Planet's gravity can pull to it anything that The Operator needs, but with the caveat to remember just how easy it is to clutter up the atmosphere with useless stuff. The Planet can be used in Banishing rituals to clear The Operator's Orbit of useless debris and junk that they have accumulated over the years. An example of this sort of banishing would be to get a box and place the Planet Sigil on it - then fill the box with items that represent stuff that you no longer want to carry around with you. When complete take the box to somewhere that is out of the way of your day to day live and travel (somewhere were you aren't likely to ever come back to) and throw the box out of your orbit back into the universe. The Planet can also be used to see the patterns and season of life. Invoke the Planet to see the orbits and patterns that the Operator is spinning around in. If the Operator finds that they are just repeating patterns over and over again, The Planet can be useful in seeing what they are and then breaking free from them.

54

THE PROTECTOR This Servant is all about protection, security and safety.

DIVINATION: When The Protector appears in a reading it is a sign that Protection and Security is, or should be a concern for The Querent. While it's not a call to become overly paranoid about security issues, The Protector does suggest that The Querent should make an effort to keep themselves out of harm’s way, or to refrain from making any foolish moves that could land them in trouble. The Protector can also be a sign that someone is looking out for The Querent, possibly protecting them from behind the scenes but The Protector can denote a guardian person such as a Parent, Partner or Law Officer. The true implications of this card, more than a lot of the others, will be best known by the cards appearing around it or by the question asked. MAGICK: The Protector is the go to Servant at any time The Operator feels they are in danger or their safety has been compromised. The Sigil can be draw in the mind's eye, or in the air in front of The Operator, as a real time strategy of protection during occasions when needed. The Protector can also be sent to occasions in the future (such as vacation time, for safe travel) or to protect particular items. Keeping the Sigil on the person at all times, will aid in the on-going protection of The Operator, as will placing the Sigil over the main door serve as a protection for the household. Candle Offerings to The Protector are helpful in returning Curse or Magical attacks away from the Operator and back to the caster.

55

THE PROTESTER This Servant is all about Anger, and fighting against perceived injustice.

DIVINATION: The Querent feels that their concerns aren't be listened to. They feel an injustice and no longer want to stand idly by and let it happen. The Protester is about directed anger and frustration against that which The Querent faces. The Card calls to The Querent to do more than just be angry or outraged at events - it suggests that The Querent use this powerful energy to affect change. This card can also appear when The Querent feels a great injustice has occurred or that they are being oppressed or restricted. If this Card appears with The Opposer, The Media or similar cards then it is a sign that The Querent has to start standing up for themselves or else they will be crushed and unheard. This card appears when things have become unacceptable and the time has come for action and change. As a future Card can suggest an argument or disagreement is in store for The Querent or some sort of injustice is likely to occur that will enrage the Querent. MAGICK: The Protester is a Servant close to the energy of Mars, the god of war. This servant is extremely useful if The Operator needs to go to battle or win a fight. Invoking The Protester is extremely useful during business negotiations, circumstances that require a strong hand, or actual physical fights. Very useful also in sports and games. It is also extremely useful is turning anger and rage into a powerful force of change rather than leading to frustration. The Sigil can be used to channel angry energy into healthier outlets such as exercise, increasing ambition, goal setting, or selfdetermination. 56

The Protester is also helpful when an injustice has occurred and The Operator wants to get the word out about it. Offerings to The Protester can be made to aid in encouraging dissent in fellow work mates, friends or the general public and enlist them to your cause.

57

THE ROAD OPENER This Servant is all about clearing, banishing and removal of obstacles.

DIVINATION: If the Road Opener appears in a reading then it is a sign that the future is going to lead to new and interesting places for The Querent. New opportunities are now becoming available, and an improvement in job, love or financial prospects is literally on the cards. The Road Opener is a sign that the way ahead is clear and that The Querent should pursue their goals with all their might as nothing can now stop them from achieving what they want. The Road Opener can also be a sign that an obstacle that was once in the way of The Querent has now been removed (or in the case of a Future Card - will be) and The Querent is now better fixed to move forward. The Road Opener is always a positive card and is a sign of better things to come. MAGICK: The Road Opener can be used to open new paths for The Operator or for clearing obstacles from existing paths. These paths can be career, relationship, creative, or any area that The Operator wants to become more free to pursue. Candle Offerings are very useful in gaining new opportunities. Draw the Sigils in the air and breath push it into Job applications, or CVs. If someone or something is standing in your way The Road Opener can be petitioned to help in the removal of this obstacle. Ganesha appears above the Open Road and he is the Great Remover of Obstacles. Chanting "Aum Gam Ganapataye Namaha" over the Servant's Image while seeing your block or obstacle dissolve can be very effective. A general Road Opening working could be done to open any suitable paths for The Operator, which can lead to some unexpected but amazing new directions. 58

THE SAINT This Servant is all about intercession and relying on experts.

DIVINATION: When The Saint appears in a spread it is a sign that The Querent might be best served by asking someone to intercede on their behalf rather than going directly themselves. For instance, The Querent may benefit from someone putting a good word in with a prospective boss before apply for the job or making contact themselves. If an argument has occurred between The Querent and someone else, The Saint suggests that the best course of action is to ask a mutual third party to help smooth things over with the other person first before The Querent talks to them themselves. The Saint also suggests that it is often better to use an expert than try to do something yourself. Using an expert may be more expensive in the short term but will save The Querent a lot more in the long term.

MAGICK: The Saint is a patron of Magick and can lend his power when tasks that would be normally out of the Operator's ability range need to be performed. If a person, a spirit, a demon or similar has not answered The Operators call or requests for assistance, they can ask The Saint to help make contact and put in a good word for them. The Saint can intercede for The Operator in presenting their goals, prayers, wishes, healing requests, or any other needs to the Higher Powers. If The Operator feels that his prayers aren't being heard, or their Magick isn't as effective as it should be then a candle Offering in front of The Saint's Image (Or a week long Novena) is suggested to help get The Powers That Be listening. The Saint can also intercede with other people - if the Operator needs someone to warm to them they can send The Saint in advance to help make the Target receptive. 59

THE SEER This Servant is all about using your intuition and going with your gut.

DIVINATION: When The Seer appears in a reading it is a sign for the Querent to trust their gut and follow their instinct rather than try to work out the problem at hand using analytical methods. If a big decision is to be made, The Seer suggest that the Querent goes with what feels best rather than what may be logically best. A job with less money and less future prospects might be a better fit for them long-term than a high paid job with prospects for advancement, for instance. The Querent knows in their heart what the right decision is and it is often the opposite of what appears to be the best decision. The Seer suggests to The Querent that they should feel their way through life for a while rather than trying to mentally work out the best move available or rigidly planning. The Seer is also about going with the flow and seeing what happens. Letting life lead you for a time, rather than pushing against it and trying to mold it into your vision. The Seer suggests that The Querent sit back from the driving seat and see where the natural currents and tides of their life bring them. MAGICK: The Seer can be used by The Operator to increase their intuition, sensitivities, or emotional guidance system. Invoking The Seer can aid The Operator to become more in touch with the energies around them, and give them a better feel of the surrounding events/people/problems from an intuitive level rather than an intellectual one. The Seer is a wonderful Servant to use when you feel you are over-thinking decisions or problems. Candle offerings to petition The Seer to help with getting in touch with the inner-knowing power can be extremely beneficial. Invoke The Seer during any time that you need to Feel rather than Think your way through something. 60

THE SUN This Servant is all about Energy, Power, and Radiance.

DIVINATION: The Sun card is all about power and energy. When this card appears in a reading it is a sign that The Querent is in or about to enter a period of high power, vitality, and success. The Sun suggests radiance, abundance, strength, luck, wellness, health, enthusiasm, success and enlightenment. It is a great card to see in any reading as it always heralds excellent times. All power comes from the sun, the same for growth and light. The Sun card tells the Querent that they have a huge source of power available to them that they can tap into at any time and now is the time to start utilising it. MAGICK: The Sun servant can be used to increase the Operator’s spiritual or physical energy, for personal growth and increase of light in all areas of their life. Invoking The Sun Servant when weakness is felt or extra power is needed is extremely effective. The Sun Servant can also be used to illuminate areas or events that are occulted to the Operator. Petition The Sun to show that which is hidden in the darkness, or for illumination on a topic which eludes the Operator. 61

THE GURU This Servant is all about learning from others rather than self-learning.

DIVINATION: The Guru suggest that a new mentor has entered into The Querent's life, or is very shortly about to appear. Guru is a Sanskrit term that connotes someone who is a "teacher, guide, expert, or master" of certain knowledge or field. The Guru suggest a more one on one relationship than the typical teacher and a class system, but doesn't totally rule it out. The Guru will impart Wisdom, understanding and practical advice rather than just intellectual knowledge. The Guru is a teacher, guide, friend, mentor and spiritual counsel but one who takes a very personal interest in the nurturing of the Querent to make them a better and more effective person. MAGICK: The Guru Servant is extremely useful to The operator when they are in need of spiritual direction or mentoring in some area of esoterica, magick or spirituality. A Novena of a minimum of three days can be offered using the image of The Guru asking for help and guidance - tell The Guru the problems you are facing or the ideas or concepts you are having challenges with. The Guru can be Invoked during times when The operator finds himself being asked to give spiritual advice or counsel, but is not sure what the best advice is and is lost for an answer. Using The Sigil, The Operator can call The Guru into themselves and allow his wisdom and guidance to pour through them.

62

THE THINKER This Servant is all about analysis and intellect.

DIVINATION: The Problem the Querent faces will be best solved using reason and deduction. The Thinker can be a sign that The Querent needs to put aside emotional feelings or needs for the time being and instead try to focus on the rational and intellectual thoughts instead. There is a time to feel life and there is a time to really think things through and The Thinker calls for the Querent to think rather than intuit. What is the most rational way out of the problem? What will be best long-term even if it feels bad in the shortterm? What is the clever move here? The Thinker calls for the Querent to think everything through rather than acting on impulse or emotion. MAGICK: The Thinker servant can be used by The Operator for problem solving using logic when a decision is being made that may be being clouded by emotion and the best way forward needs to be seen clearly. The Operator can invoke The thinker in times when emotions are running high and a calm logical mind is needed. The Sigil placed in the air in front of the Operator, either mentally or physically, can aid in cutting down the high emotions of a situation or event and allow the Operator to see what is in front of them rationally and intellectually.

63

THE WITCH This Servant is all about Magick and Sorcery.

DIVINATION: When The Witch appears in a reading it is a sign that there is a touch of magick in the air. The Witch tells The Querent to be aware of the sense that something wyrd is at play -something that seems to have a life of its own. Something special is happening or about to happen - something that seems strange and unusual. People, events or things may appear as if by Magick - or The Querent will be perfectly in the right place at the right time. Things will magically fall into place and good luck will abound. The Witch leaves The Querent with a sense of wonder like a knowing smile or wink from the universe. Magick is at play, and it is a joy to behold. In extreme circumstances The Witch can be a sign that something malevolent is working against the Querent. Look to the other cards in the reading for clarification.

MAGICK: The Witch Servant is useful in almost any situation The Operator needs. Any Magick, ritual or working can be increased in potency by petitioning or invoking The Witch. She is by a long stretch the factotum of the Servants. The Witch can teach The Operator magick. Candle Offerings or a Novena is suggested when asking The Witch for knowledge or help. The Witch sigil can be used in real time to add magick to any event, person or problem most effectively done by drawing it in the air with the first finger of the left hand or with a wand. The Sigil is very useful for enchanting items, banishing energy (see the sigil blocking the energy from coming at you) and in general protection. Invoke the Witch to feel the Magick of the surrounding area, increase potency or to get in the correct frame for ritual. The Witch is the most versatile of all the servants and is extremely proficient in all areas. 64
