Assessment Objectives • •
Design the Logical topology. 35 points, 20 minutes. Configure the logical topology. 30 points, 20 minutes.
Scenario In this Skills Based Assessment students will create a small network that requires connecting network devices and configuring host computers and one Cisco router for basic network connectivity. Subnet A and Subnet B are subnets that are currently needed. Subnet C and Subnet D are anticipated subnets, not yet connected to the network. The 0th subnet will no be used. Switch1 has a default configuration, and does not require additional configuration. Common utility commands will be used to test and document the network.
Task 1: Design the Logical LAN Topology. Given an IP address and mask of 172.16.25.4/15 (address / mask), design an IP addressing scheme that satisfies the following requirements: Subnet Subnet A Subnet B Subnet C Subnet D
Exploration Network Fundamentals : Skills Based Final Option 2
Subnet A Student Specification Input Number of bits in the subnet IP mask (binary) 11111111.11111111.11111111.11110000 New IP mask (decimal) 255.255.255.248 Maximum number of usable 32766 subnets Number of usable hosts per 6 subnet IP Subnet 172.16.0.176 First IP Host address 172.16.0.177 Last IP Host address 172.16.0.182
Points (6 points)
Subnet B Student Specification Input Number of bits in the subnet IP mask (binary) 11111111.11111111.11111111.11100000 New IP mask (decimal) 255.255.255.240 Maximum number of usable 4094 subnets Number of usable hosts per 14 subnet IP Subnet 172.16.0.160 First IP Host address 172.16.0.161 Last IP Host address 172.16.0.174

Points (6 points)
Subnet D Student Specification Input Number of bits in the subnet IP mask (binary) 11111111.11111110.00000000.00000000
Exploration Network Fundamentals : Skills Based Final Option 2
New IP mask (decimal) Maximum number of usable subnets Number of usable hosts per subnet IP Subnet First IP Host address Last IP Host address
255.255.255.128
510 126 172.16.0.0 172.16.0.1 172.16.0.126
Host computers will use the first IP address in the subnet. The network router will use the LAST network host address. Write down the IP address information for each device: Device Host1
