Perhaps it is the mother of all things.

सब चीजो की उत्ऩस्त्त का कायण है

भै इसका नाभ नही जानता

ऩय इसे ताओ के नाभ से कहता हूॉ

Tao that can be spoken of is not the eternal Tao The name that can be named is not a Constant Name If it has a name, it's just another thing The named is the Mother of all things To see the True Essence become desire less To see the manifestations have desires These two together emerge

तो मह अन्म वथतओ की तयह है ु नाभ औय रूऩ ही से

सब चीजो का अस्थतत्व है उत्ऩस्त्त है

वाथतप्रवकता को दे खने के लरए इच्छाओ को त्माग दो

लभथ्मा दे खने के लरए

इच्छाओ को यहने दो

इनकी दोनों उत्ऩस्त्त एक है

They have different name yet they are called the same Figure them out, and you've got it made 2. वे कामण कयते है

बफना फकसी का सभथणन चाहे जफ कामण ऩण ू ण हो जाता है

वे अगरे कामण की औय चरे जाते है

क्मोंफक वे इसके श्रेम की अऩेऺा नही कयते इसीलरए उनका कामण ऩण ू ण यहता है

अगय आऩ अऩनी फहुत ऩशंसा कयते है

people will waste your time trying to impress you If you give things too much value, you're going to get ripped off If you try to please people, you'll just make them pissed Do not honor the worthy. This will keep the people from contention Do not prize rare things. This will keep the people from becoming thieves Do not display the desirable. The hearts of the people will not be confused

The Master leads by clearing their minds and opening their hearts. He lowers their aspirations and makes them suck in their guts. He shows you how to forget what you know and what you want, so nobody can push you around. Stop doing stuff all the time, and watch what happens. 4. How much Tao is there? More than you'll ever need. Use all you want there's plenty more You can't see Tao, but it's there; it’s just always been around Where that came from, it seems to be the ancestor of all the things 5. Tao's neutral:

औय उनको थवमॊ ऩय बयोसा कयना लसखाते है वे उन्हें लसखाते है बर ू ना

जो वे अफ तक जानते है औय जो वे चाहते है

ताफक कोई बी उनका फेवजह पामद न उठा सके

महा ऩय फकतनी ताओ है

स्जतनी तम् ु हे चाहहए उससे कही ज्मादा

तम् ु हे स्जतनी चाहहए सायी रे रो, महा औय बी होगी

तभ ु इसे दे ख नही सकते ऩय मह है

मह हभेशा आसऩास होती है

मह कहा से आती है

मह तो ऩव ण ो की बी ऩव ण ऩनतणत हो यही है ू ज ू ज

मह फकसी का ऩऺ नही रेती

ताओ एक शाश्वत यहथम है

औय हय चीज़ का आयॊ ब ताओ से है मह हय फकसी के अॊदय है

फस जरुयत है तो ऩहचानने की

मह कबी नही रूकती, क्मों ?

क्मोंफक मह कोलशश नही कय यही, फकसी चीज़ को ऩाने की

साधु भनु न थवमॊ को फाद भें दे खते है इसीलरए तो वे सफसे आगे यहते है वे चीजों ऩय ननबणय नही यहते

इसीलरए तो वे उन्हें यखने भें सपर होते है

उन्हें चचॊता नही होती,

स्जस ऩय वे ननमॊत्रण नही यख सकते

इसीलरए तो वे हभेशा सॊतष्ु ट यहते है

वे अऩने को ऩयू ी तयह से अरग यखते है इसी लरए तो वे फचे यह जाते है

मह इसलरए नही की वो ननथवाथण है

इसलरए की वे थवमॊ के िनत जागरूक है

“सही कामण कयना” जर की तयह है मह सफके लरए अच्छा है

औय फहता है वहा बफना फकसी की ऩयवाह फकमे,

जहा वह जाता है

जागरूक यहो की क्मा जरूयी है वह यहो,

Be there

जफ रोगो को तम् ु हायी आवश्मकता हो

when people need you.

कहो स्जसका कुछ तात्ऩमण हो

Say what you mean.

हय चीज़ के लरए तैमाय यहो

Be prepared for anything.

कयो जो तभ ु कय सकते हो

Do whatever you can,

जफ उसको होना चाहहए

whenever it needs doing.

अगय तभ ु िनतथऩधाण नही कयोगे,

If you don't compete

औयो के साथ

yourself to others, nobody can compete to you.

तो कोई तम् ु हाये साथ बी कोई नही कये गा

ज्मादा बयने से अच्छा है

9. As for holding to fullness,

सभम यहते रुक जाना

better to stop in time.

अगय तभ ु ज्मादा ऩी रेते हो

If you drink too much,

तो तभ ु नशे भें धत ु हो जाओगे

you get drunk.

अगय तभ ु ज्मादा सॊऩस्त्त जभा कयोगे

If you hoard wealth, you fall into its clutches

अऩने ऩैय जभीन ऩय यखो औय

If you crave success, you succumb to failure. Do what you have to do, then walk away. This is the way of Tao 10. Can you hold on to your ego

तो तभ ु उसके अन्दय आसक्त हो जाओगे

अगय तभ ु लसपण सपरता की काभना कयोगे तो असपरता भें उरझ जाओगे

जो तभ ु कयना चाहते हो उसे कयो फपय आगे फढ़ जाओ

मही तो ताओ का याथता है

क्मा तभ ु ऩकड जभा सकते हो अऩने अहॊकाय ऩय

and still stay focused on Tao?

औय अफ बी ताओ ऩय केस्न्ित यह सकते हो

In gathering your vital energy

जो तभ ु कयते हो अऩनी जीवन शस्क्त का सॊग्रह

to attain suppleness, Have you reached the state of a new born baby Can you check yourself and see past what's in front of your eyes?

जीवन भें अनक ु ु रशीरता ऩाने के लरए क्मा तभ ु फने हो एक फच्चे की तयह

क्मा तभ ु थवमॊ का ननयीऺण कय सकते हो

औय दे ख सकते हो की तम् ु हाये साभने क्मा है

Can you be a leader and not try to prove you're in charge? Can you deal with what's happening and let it happen? Can you forget what you know and understand what's real? Can you feed you people without owning them for your own? Have things without holding on to them, Do the job without expectation of reward. Lead people without giving orders. That's the way you do it. 11. A wheel has spokes, but it rotates around a hollow center. A pot is made out of clay or glass, but you keep things in the space inside. A house is made of wood or brick, but you live in empty space between the walls. We work with something, but we use nothing.

मही तो सब सही कयने का याथता है एक ऩहहमे के अॊदय ताड़िमा होती है

ऩय वह एक खोखरी नरी के चायो तयप घभ ू ता है एक फतणन लभटटी का फना होता है

ऩय हभ जर उसके अॊदय यखते है

एक घय ईटो औय रकिी से फना होता है

ऩय हभ यहते तो दीवायों के बफच की खारी जगह भें हभ फकसी वथतु ऩय काभ कयते है

औय फकसी चीज़ का इथतेभार कयते है , जो की है कुछ बी नही

12. Sight obscures. Noise deafens. Desire messes with your heart. The world messes with your mind. A Master watches the world but keeps focused on what's real.

दृस्ष्ट धध ुॊ राती है

ध्वनी फहयाती है

औय मे सॊसाय हभाये भन के साथ

औय जो वाथतप्रवक है उसी ऩय एकाग्र यहता है

13. Winning can be just as bad as losing. Confidence can mess you up

प्रवजमी होना कबी कबी हयने जैसा फयु ा बी हो सकता है आत्भप्रवश्वास आऩको उतना ही झकझोय सकता है , स्जतना की डय

just as much as fear. What does "winning can be just as bad as losing" mean?

इसका क्मा भतरफ है की

“ स्जतना कबी कबी हयने जैसा फयु ा बी हो सकता है ” जफ तभ ु हाये हुए होते हो तो तभ ु कोलशश कयके ऊऩय उठ सकते हो

If you're down, you might be able to get up.

But if you're up,

तभ ु जल्दी से ननचे चगयते हो

you can get knocked down real fast. Don't worry about the score, just do what you have to do. What does "confidence can mess you up just as much as fear" mean? Fear can keep you from getting the job done,

Know your limits, and nothing can ever hold you back. Deal with what you can. The rest will follow. 14. You can't see Tao, no matter how hard you lo. You can't hear Tao, no matter how hard you listen. You can't hold on to Tao, no matter how hard you grab. Stand before it and there is no beginning. Follow it and there is no end. But it's there. चाहे फकतने बी ध्मान से दे खो तभ ु उसे सन ु नही सकते

चाहे फकतने बी ध्मान से सन ु ने की कोलशश कयो तभ ु उसे ऩकड नही ऩाओगे

चाहे फकतनी बी जोय से ऩकिो

इसको दे खो

इसका कोई आयॊ ब नही है इसके साथ चरो

इसका कोई अॊत नही है

ऩय मह है

मह तभ ु भें बी है

and it's all around you. Move with the present. The ability to know the primeval beginning This is called the thread running through the way 15. The ancient Masters were damn impressive. They were deep. Real deep. Words can't even begin to describe how deep they were. You can only talk about how they acted. They were careful, like a man walking on thin ice. They were cautious, like a soldier behind enemy lines. They were polite, like a guest at a party. They moved quickly, like melting ice. They were as plain as a block of wood.

हभ तो लसपण इस फाये भें फाते कयते है की वो कैसे थे

वे सावधान होते थे

जैसे की एक फपण ऩय चरता हुआ आदभी वे सतकण होते थे

जैसे की एक जवान दश्ु भन के इराके भें होता है वे प्रवनभण होते थे

जैसे की एक भेहभान होता है वे तेज होते थे

जैसे की फपण प्रऩघरती है वे सभतर होते थे

जैसे की एक रकिी का टुकिा

उनका भन घाटी स्जतना गहया होता था

Their minds were as wide as a valley,

औय उनका ह्रदम झयने के जर जैसा ननभणर

and their hearts as clear as spring water. Can you wait for that kind of openness and clarity before you try to understand the world? Can you hold still until events have unfolded

क्मा आऩ ऐसी सहजता औय ननभणरता का इॊतजाय सकते है इस सॊसाय को सभझने से ऩहरे क्मा आऩ कामण कयने से ऩहरे

before you do the right thing?

सही सभम का इॊतजाय कय सकते है

When you act without expectations,

जफ आऩ पर की इच्छा के बफना कामण कयते है

you can accomplish great things. 16. Keep your head clear. Stay calm. Watch as everything happens around you.

तफ आऩ भहान कामण कयते है

भन को साप यखो धैमण यखो

औय दे खो की तम् ु हाये चायो तयप क्मा घहटत हो यहा है

Everything reverts to its original state,

हय चीज अऩनी वाथतप्रवक अवथथा भें वाऩस जाती है

which was nothing.

जो की कुछ बी नही है , शन् ु म है

To return to the root is to find peace,

भर ू को जानने से शाॊनत लभरती है

to find peace is to fulfill one's destiny To fulfill one's destiny is to be constant, to know the constant is called insight And when something becomes nothing, it gets right with Tao. If you don't understand that, you're going to screw up somewhere down the line. If you figure it out, you'll always know what to do. If you get right with Tao, you won't be afraid to die, because you know you will. 17. When a Master takes charge, hardly anybody notices. The next best leader is obeyed out of love. After that, there's the leader obeyed out of fear. The worst leader is one who is hated. Trust and respect people. That's how you earn their trust and respect. The Masters don't give orders; they work with everybody else. When the job's done, the people all remark "we have done it ourselves" 18. When people lose touch with Tao, they start talking about "righteousness" and "sanctity."

शाॊनत लभरने से अऩने िमोजन का ऻान होता है औय इस ऻान के होने से स्थथयता लभरती है

औय वह ताओ के साथ एक हो जाती है

अगय आऩ इसे नही सभझते हो तो,

तो आऩ ऩहरे ही गिफि कय दे ते हो

अऩनी भॊस्जर तक ऩहुचने से ऩहरे अगय आऩ इसे इसे सभझ जाते हो

तो आऩको ऩता होता है की क्मा कयना है अगय आऩ ताओ के अनस ु ाय होते हो तो आऩको डय नही होता

क्मोंफक आऩको ऩता होता है की आऩ कय रोगे

जफ साधु भनु न नेतत्ृ व सॉबारते है

तो फकसी को ऩता बी नही चरता की वो भौजद ू है

दस ू या अच्छा नेता वो होता है जो बराई कयता है इसके फाद

वो होता है स्जसका डय के कायण ऩारन फकमा जाता है सफसे खयाफ वो है स्जससे रोग नपयत कयते हो

रोगो की इज्ज़त व उन ऩय बयोसा कयो

इसी से आऩको इज्ज़त व उनका बयोसा लभरेगा

साधु भनु न लसपण आदे श नही दे ते

वे उनके साथ लभरकय कामण कयते है

औय जफ कामण ऩण ू ण हो जाता है तो सफ लभरकय कहते है की

हभ सबने मे कामण फकमा है

जफ रोग ताओ का साननध्म खो दे ते है तफ वे फाते कयने रगते है

सही औय गरत की औय ननमभो की

When people forget what's true, they start talking about "self-evident truths." When people have no respect for one another, they start talking about "political correctness" and "family values." When the nation is unstable, people start talking about "patriotism." 19. Give up sainthood, renounce wisdom, People will understand the truth and be happier Give up cleverness, renounce morality, and men will rediscover filial piety and love. Give up ingenuity, renounce profit, and bandits and thieves will disappear. If that's not possible, go to Plan B: Be simple. Be real. Do your work as best you can. Don't think about what you get for it. Stay focused. Get rid of all your crap 20. Don't spend too much time thinking about stupid shit. Why should you care if people agree or disagree with you? Why should you care if others find you attractive or not? Why should you care about things that worry others?

अगय तभ ु से मह सॊबव नही है तो दस ू या तयीका अऩनाओ सयर फनो तथा वाथतप्रवक यहो

ऩयू ी ननष्ठा से अऩने कामण को कयो

उससे तम् ु हे क्मा राब होगा मे भत सोचो एकाग्र यहो

औय अऩनी रारसाओ को जाने दो

अऩना वक़्त खयाफ भत कयो, फेकाय का सोचने भें

तभ ु इस फात की चचॊता क्मों कयते हो की रोग तभ ु से सहभत है मा नही

तभ ु इस फात की चचॊता क्मों कयते हो की उन्हें तभ ु ऩसॊद हो मा नही

तभ की चचॊता क्मों कयते हो ु उन वथतओ ु जो औयो के लरमो हो

Stop thinking about all that.

इन सफके फाये भें सोचना फॊद कयो

Let other people get worked up

रोगो को अऩना काभ कयने दो

and try to enjoy themselves. I'm not going to give myself away. In spring some go to the park, and climb the terrace,

औय उन्हें खुद का आनॊद उठाने दो

इन सब के लरए तभ ु क्मों चचॊता कयो

वसॊत भें कोई फगीचे भें जाता है कोइ छत ऩय टहरता है

But I alone am drifting, not knowing where I am. Like a newborn baby before it learns to smile A baby doesn't know how to smile, but it's still happy.

Let other people get excited about stuff.

फाफक सब को इन सब भें असाक्त होने दो

I'm not going to hang on to anything.

ऩय तभ ु नही हो यहे हो

I'm not going to fill my mind with ideas. I'm not going to get stuck in a rut, tied down to any one place. Other people are clever; I guess I must be stupid. Other people have goals; I guess I must be aimless. Like the wind. Or the waves. I'm not like other people. I'm getting right with Tao. 21. A Master stays focused on Tao. Nothing else, just Tao. The Tao is formless and shapeless. Oh, it is formless and shapeless, and yet within is image. Oh, it is shapeless and formless, and yet within is form. Oh, it is dim and dark, and yet within is essence. This essence is very real, and therein lies faith. How are you supposed to focus on something like that?

औय रोग चतयु होते है

भै सोचता हूॉ की भै भख ु ण हूॉ औय रोगो का रक्ष्म होता है

भै सोचता की भै रक्ष्मयहहत हूॉ

हवा की तयह हूॉ मा फपय रहयों की तयह

भै औयो की तयह नही हूॉ भै तो ताओ के के साथ एक हूॉ

एक साधु भनु न ताओ ऩय एकाग्र यहता है औय कुछ नही लसपण ताओ

ताओ का कोई रूऩ नही है ,आकाय नही है

हा इसका कोई रूऩ नही है ,आकाय नही है तफ बी मह एक आकृनत की तयह है

हा इसका कोई आकाय नही है ,रूऩ नही है तफ बी इसका एक दाॊचा है

From the very beginning until now its name has never been forgotten. That's the way it's been, ever since the world began Thus I perceive the creation. How do I know the ways of creation? Because of this (Tao) 22. Learn how to yield (be twisted) is to preserve the whole. Get on your knees if you want to stand tall. If you want wisdom, empty your mind. If you want the world, renounce your riches. Push yourself until you're exhausted, and then you'll find your strength. You can go far if you don't have anything to carry. The more you acquire, the less you can really see. A Master takes this to heart and sets an example for everybody else. He doesn't show off so people take notice. He does not define himself, therefore he is distinct He does not boast off what he will do, therefore he succeeds He is not proud of his work, and therefore it lasts He's not out to get anybody so nobody can get in her way.

आहद से रेकय अफ तक इसे बर ु ा नही गमा है

क्मोंफक मह ऐसी ही है , जफ से मे सॊसाय है

तबी तो मह हभाये साथ है

भै मह कैसे जानता हूॉ? इसीसे ही भै जानता हूॉ कबी कबी हाय भाननी ऩिती है हभेशा स्जतने के लरए

झुकना ऩिता है

ऊॉचा खिा यहने के लरए

अगय तभ ु ऻान चाहते हो

तो ऩहरे अऩने भन को खारी कयो

अगय तभ ु इस दनु नमा को स्जतना चाहते हो तो ऩहरे थवमॊ को जीतो

अऩना साया दभ रगा दो अऩनी आखयी साॉस तक तबी तभ ु अऩने साभथ्मण को ऩहचान ऩाते हो

तभ ु दयू तक जाते हो,

जफ तम् ु हाये ऩास ऩकिने को कुछ नही होता स्जतना तभ ु इकट्ठा कयोगे

उतना ही तभ ु वाथतप्रवकता से दयू होते जाओगे

एक साधु भनु न इसे अऩने ह्रदम से सभझता है औय औयो के लरमा उदाहयन िथतत ु कयता है वह हदखावा नही कयता

इसीलरए तो रोग उसकी सभीऺा कयते है

वह अऩने आऩ को ऩरयबाप्रषत नही कयता इसी लरए तो वह सफसे अरग होता है

वह अऩनी ऺभता का गण ु गान नही कयता इसीलरए तो वह सपर हो ऩाता है

उसे उऩने कामण ऩय घभॊड नही होता

इसीलरए तो वह रम्फे सभम तक हटक ऩाता है

वह महा फकसी के साथ िनतथऩधाण के लरए नही होता इसीलरए तो कोई उसके यथते भें नही आता

The ancient saying, “To yield is to preserve the whole” how could it be empty words? Truly, it will return whole in the end. Get in touch with Tao, and you'll see what I mean. 23. Nature says few words, For this reason The wind cannot blow for the whole morning. A rainstorm cannot last for the whole day. If nature knows enough to give it a rest sometimes, so should you. Why causes them? Heaven and Earth! If heaven and Earth cannot make things eternal, How is it possible for man? He who follows the Tao Is at one with the Tao. He who is virtuous Experiences Virtue. He who loses the way Is lost. When you are at one with the Tao, The Tao welcomes you. When you are at one with Virtue, The Virtue is always there. Trust your instincts, and others will trust you. 24. Keep your feet firmly planted unless you want to fall on your face. Learn how to pace yourself if you want to get anywhere.

एक िाचीन कहावत है

जो ऩेड तेज हवाओ भें झक ु ता है वही फचा यह जाता है

मह सच है आणखय भें वही फचता है ताओ के साननध्म भें यहो

औय तम् ु हे इसका अथण सभझ आ जामेगा

िकृनत बी इसे अऩनाती है तबी तो

हवाए नही चर सकती, ऩयू ा हदन के लरए

तफ़ ू ान नही यहता,

ऩयू ा हदन के लरए

अगय िकृनत मह जानती है औय इसे अऩनाती है

इन्हें कौन हभेशा के लरए फना सकता है ? ,क्मा थवगण औय धयती! ऩय मे तो इनको शाश्वत नही फना सकते तो फपय भनष्ु म के लरए कैसे सॊबव है जो ताओ के अनस ु ाय होता है

वह ताओ के साथ एक होता है

जो खुश यहता है उसे खुशी लभरती है

जो खुद को दख ु ी सभझता है वह दख ु ी यहता है

जफ तभ ु ताओ के साथ एक होते हो ताओ तम् ु हे थवीकाय कयती है

जफ तभ ु खुशी को अऩनाते हो

तो खश ु ी तम् ु हये लरए वहा हभेशा होती है

थवमॊ ऩय प्रवश्वास यखो

औय फाफक सब बी तभ ु ऩय प्रवश्वास कयने रगेगे

अऩने उद्देशम भें दृढ यहो

ताफक तभ ु यथते से बटक न जाओ खुद ऩय ननमॊत्रण सीखो अगय तभ ु कुछ कयना चाहते हो

Don't call attention to yourself if you want people to notice your work. Nobody respects people who always have excuses. Nobody gives credit to people who always take it. People who hype themselves have nothing else to offer. For the Tao, these are called “excess store and superfluous acts.” They do not bring happiness therefore, the man with the Tao does not abide in them.

खुद ऩय ध्मान आकप्रषत ण भत कयो

अगय तभ ु चाहते हो रोगो का ध्मान तम् ु हयी तयप आमे

कोई बी उनका आदय नही कयता

स्जनके ऩास हभेशा फहाने होते है कोई बी उनको श्रेम नही दे ता जो हभेशा खद ु रे रेते है

रोग जो अऩना िचाय खुद कयते है

उनके ऩास दे ने के लरए कुछ नही होता

ताओ के सन्दबण भें मे होते है

ढोंगी औय हद से ज्मादा यखने वारे वे नही राते, कबी बी खुलशमा

जो रोग ताओ के साथ एक होते है उन्हें उनका अनस ु यण नही कयना चाहहए

25. There was something undefined

कुछ है जो अप्रिबाप्रषत है

and yet complete in itself.

फपय बी सम्ऩण ू ण है शाश्वत है

Born before heaven and earth.

जो धयती औय आकाश से बी ऩहरे से है

Silent and boundless Standing along without change. Yet pervading without fail Perhaps it is the mother of all things. I do not know its name, but Call it Tao. So great that it endures. Something that endures goes a long way. And something that goes a long way always comes back to the beginning. Tao's great. Heaven's great. Earth's great. And someone in touch with Tao is great, too. Those are the four greatest things in the universe. Someone who's in touch with Tao is in touch with the earth.

स्थथय है शरुआत से

औय फपय बी भौजद ू है

सब चीजो की उत्ऩस्त्त का कायण है भै इसका नाभ नही जानता

ऩय इसे ताओ के नाभ से कहता हूॉ

इतना बव्म की मह हटका हुआ है औय जो हटका यहता है वो रम्फे सभम तक यहता है औय जो रम्फे सभम तक यहता है वो शरु ु आत भें फपय आता है

ताओ बव्म है

धयती औय थवगण बी बव्म है

औय जो ताओ के साथ एक है वो बी भहान है मही चाय तो इस ब्रह्भाण्ड भें भहान है

जो ताओ के साथ एक है

वो धयती के साथ बी है

The earth is in touch with heaven. Heaven's in touch with Tao. Tao's in touch with the way things are. 26. The heavy is the root of the light. The still is the master of unrest. Therefore the master, traveling all day, Does not lose sight of what he owns. Though there are beautiful things to be seen, He remains unattached and calm. How can a ruler govern a nation without recklessness if he indulges in power and desire? If he is lighthearted, ministers will be destroyed and if he is agitated, the ruler will lost 27. With enough practice, you could come and go without a trace, speak without stumbling over words, do complicated math problems in your head. You could build a door with no lock that nobody couldn’t open. You could tie something down with no knots, without even a rope, and nobody could pry it loose. Masters have time to help everybody, and ignore nobody. They use their resources wisely, wasting nothing. Some people call this "following the light." Good people teach others because they have the potential to be good too. Brains count for nothing if you fail to respect your teachers or to honor the potential in others. That's one of the most important lessons of Tao.

औय धयती थवगण के साथ है

औय थवगण ताओ के साथ है औय ताओ सबके साथ है

बायी ही हल्के की उत्ऩस्त्त है का कायण है स्थथय से ही अस्थथय की उत्ऩनत है

इसीलरए साधु भनु न ऩयू ा हदन चरते हुए बी अऩनी भॊस्जर से दृस्ष्ट नही हटाते

कई भनोहय चीजे उन्हें बटकाना बी चाहती है ऩय वे शाॊत यहते है

एक शासक कैसे एक याष्र को सॊबार सकता है , बफना फकसी ऩये शानी के

जफफक वो इन सब रारसाओ औय इच्छाओ से ग्रलसत होता है अगय वो ज्मादा उदाय है तो उसके भॊत्री भ्रष्ट हो जामेगे

अगय वो ज्मादा सख्त है तो उसका याज्म खत्भ हो जामेगा ऩण ू ण अभ्मास के द्वाया

तभ ु आ जा सकते हो बफना कोई छाऩ छोिे बफना रडखडामे रगाताय फोर सकते हो

भस्ु श्कर गणणत का हर ननकार सकते हो दयवाजा फना सकते हो बफना तारे का, स्जसे कोई नही खोर ऩामेगा

फाॊध सकते हो फकसी चीज को बफना गाॊठ के

औय बफना यथसी के औय वो ढीरा बी नही होगी

साधु भनु न होते है सबकी भदद कयने के लरए

औय जरूयत ऩिने ऩय सब को अनदे खा बी कयने के लरए वे चीजो का उऩमोग फप्रु िभता के साथ कयते है औय कुछ बी फेकाय नही जाने दे ते

कुछ रोग इसे कहते है अऩने आत्भिकाश का अनस ु यण कयना अच्छे रोग फयु ो को लसखाते है ,

क्मोंफक उनभे लसखाने की ऺभता होती है होलशमायी फकसी काभ की नही होती है ,

अगय आऩ अऩने गरु ु औय फिो का आदय नही कयते है औय दस ु यो के हुनय को इज्ज़त नही दे ते है

मही ताओ का सफसे भहतवऩण ू ण ऩाठ है

अगय तभ ु ताकतवय हो ऩय फपय बी सॊवेदनशीर हो

28. If you are strong, but remain sensitive,

तो शस्क्त तम् ु हाये अॊदय फहती है

power will flow through you.

स्जससे तभ ु हभेशा ताओ के साथ एक होते हो

With that power, you'll always be right with Tao:

मह एक नमी स्जॊदगी की तयह है

It's like a whole new life.

अगय तभ ु आदशणवादी हो ऩय वाथतप्रवकता को जानते हो

If you are idealistic, but stay rooted in reality,

तो तभ ु दस ु यो के लरए उदाहयण िथतत ु कयते हो

you are an example to others.

इसे कयो औय तभ ु हभेशा ताओ के साथ एक होगे

Set that example, and you'll always be right with Tao:

तभ ु कुछ बी कय सकोगे

There is no limit to what you can do.

अगय तभ ु अच्छाई जानते हो ऩय तम् ु हे फयु ा का बी ऻान है

If you knows white but preserves black

तो तभ ु दनु नमा के लरए िभाण थथाप्रऩत कयते हो

then becomes a standard for the world. Set that standard, and you'll always be right with Tao:

इसे कयो औय तभ ु हभेशा ताओ के अनस ु ाय होगे तभ ु फपय से कुछ बी कय सकोगे

And you returns again to being limitless.

अगय तभ ु भाननीम हो ऩय फपय बी प्रवनभण हो

If you are honorable, but remain humble,

औय चीजो को दे खते हो जैसे की वो है

you will see things as they are. If you see things as they are, you'll always be right with Tao: Your life will become simple, yet full of potential. Be pure and simple, Let Tao show you how to get right with Tao 29. Want to take over the world? Think again. The world's a holy place. You can't just do what you want with it. Those who try to change it destroy it. Those who try to possess it lose it. Sometimes, you push forward, or maybe you stay behind. Sometimes you push yourself, other times you rest. Sometimes you're strong, sometimes you're weak. Sometimes you're up,

तो तभ ु हभेशा ताओ के अनस ु ाय होते हो

सच्चे तथा सहज यहो

औय फपय दे खो ताओ तम् ु हाये साथ होती है मा नही

मह दनु नमा एक ऩप्रवत्र जगह है

तभ ु जो चाहो वो इसके साथ नही कय सकते

स्जन्होंने इसे फदरने की कोलशश की है उन्होंने इसका प्रवध्वॊस काय हदमा स्जन्होंने इसे ऩाने की कोलशश की है उन्होंने इसे खो हदमा कई फाय आऩ आगे फढ़ते है

मा कई फाय आऩ ऩीछे यहते है

कई फाय आऩ खुद को फढ़ाते है

मा कई फाय आऩ स्थथय यहते है

कई फाय आऩ सि ु ढ़ होते है तो कई फाय कभजोय

कई फाय आऩ ऊऩय होते है

तो कई फाय आऩ ननचे होते है

and sometimes you're down.

एक साधु भनु न सदा जीवन व्मतीत कयता है

A Master lives simply,

अचधकता से ऩयहे ज कयते हुए

avoiding extravagance and excess.

ध्मान से सन ु ो

30. Listen up:

अगय तभ ु एक भणु खमा होना चाहते हो तो:

If you want to be a leader

जो ताओ के साननध्म भें होता है

who's in touch with Tao, never use violence to achieve your goals. Every act of violence backfires.

वो कबी बी अऩने रक्ष्म के लरए हहॊसा का िमोग नहीॊ कयता

क्मोंफक हहसा हभेशा कुछ फयु ा ही रोटाती है ,उससे कुछ फयु ा ही होता है

An army on the move leaves a trail of tears, and a military victory always lies in ruins. The Masters do what needs doing and that's all they do. Do what you have to do without arrogance or pride. Get the job done and don't brag about it afterwards. Do what you have to do, not for your own benefit, but because it needs to be done. And don't do it the way you think it should be done, do it the way it needs to be done. The mighty will always lose their power and any connection they ever had to Tao.

मि के ननशान छोि दे ती है ु ऩय गमी सेना अऩने ऩीछे आॊसओ ु औय पौजों की जीत हभेशा प्रवध्वॊस कयती है साधु भनु न वो कयते है जो होना चाहहए औय फस मही वो कयते है

जो तम् ु हे कयना है वो तभ ु कयो बफना घभॊड औय अहॊ काय के कामण को ऩण ू ण कयो ,

ऩय फपय पर की चेष्टा भत कयो जो तम् ु हे कयना हो कयो

ऩय खुद के पामदे के लरए नही

इसलरए कयो की वो होना चाहहए

औय इसे इस तयह भत कयो की

जैसा तभ ु सोचते हो की मह होना चाहहए ऐसे कयो की जैसे उसको होना चाहहए

ताकतवय अऩनी सायी शस्क्तमा खो दे ता है औय अऩना ताओ के साथ सम्फन्ध बी

अगय वह ताओ के साथ सही नही होता है

They will not last long; if you're not right with Tao,

औय वे ज्मादा सभम तक नही हटकते

you might as well be dead.

औय वे भत ृ की तयह होते है

31. Weapons are terrible things.

हचथमाय बमावह वथतु होते है

If you want to get right with Tao, reject weapons. The Master, knowing all things came from Tao, recognizes what he has in common

औय अगय तभ ु ताओ के साथ एक होना चाहते हो तो उन्हें त्माग दो

एक साधु भनु न जानता है की सफकी उत्ऩस्त्त ताओ से है औय ऩहचानता है की इन सफभे क्मा सभानता है

with his enemies and always tries to avoid conflict. But when there is no other choice, he uses force reluctantly. He does so with great restraint, and never celebrates a victory; to do so would be to rejoice in killing. A person who would rejoice in killing has completely lost touch with Tao. When you win a war, you preside over a funeral. Pay your respects to the dead. 32. Tao is an eternal mystery, so small you can never take hold of it. If a leader gets right with Tao, people will follow him on instinct. All will be right with the world. People will do the right thing without being told. Once the whole is divided, the parts need names. There are already enough names. One must know when to stop. Knowing when to stop averts trouble. Everything in the universe is full of Tao and leads to Tao, just like the water in rivers that flows into oceans. 33. Knowing things makes you smart, but knowing yourself makes you wise. To rule others, you must be powerful, but to rule yourself, you must be strong. If you have only what you need, you have true wealth. If you never give up,

अऩने प्रवयोप्रिमो साथ वह हभेशा कोलशश कयता है झगडे से फचने की

रेफकन जफ कोई याथता नही फचता

तफ वह शस्क्त का सावधानी से उऩमोग कयता है मह वह बफरकुर सॊमभ से कयता है

औय कबी उस जीत का जश्न नही भनाता जो वो उसे रोगो को भायकय लभरी है

जो रोग दस ु ये रोगो की हत्माए कयते है

वो ताओ के साथ अऩना साननध्म खो दे ते है जफ आऩ एक मि ु जीतते हो

तफ आऩ कब्रों ऩय चरते हो भये हुएओ को सम्भान दो

ताओ एक शाश्वत यहथम है

मह इतना छोटा है की तभ ु इसे ऩकड नही सकते अगय एक भणु खमा ताओ के साथ एक होता है तो फाफक सब उसे ननप्रवणयोध अऩनाते है औय हय चीज सही हो जाती है

रोग सही चीज कयते है बफना कुछ फताए

जफ एक चीज़ के कई बाग फकमे जाते है तो उनको हये क को एक नाभ चाहता है

महा ऩहरे से ही फहुत नाभ है बेद है फपय हभे ऩता होना चाहहए की हभे कहा रुकना है इसके जानने से प्रवप्ऩनतमा नही आती

इस ब्रह्भाण्ड भें हय चीज के ऩास ताओ है औय हय वथतु ताओ की तयप जाती है

जैसे की नहदमो का ऩानी सभन् ु ि की तयप जाता है

चीजो को जानना आऩको चतयु फनाता है

ऩय खुद को जानना आऩको फप्रु िभान फनाता है

औयो ऩय प्रवजमी होने के लरए तम् ु हाया ताकतवय होना जरूयी है

ऩय खद ु को स्जतने के लरए तम् ु हया साभथ्मणवान होना जरूयी है

जफ तम् ु हाये ऩास होता है जो तम् ु हे चाहहए, तबी तभ ु सही भामने भें सॊऩन्न होते हो अगय तभ ु कबी हाय नही भानोगे

you will find a way. If you stay true to yourself, you will never be lost. If you stay alive your whole life, you've really lived. 34. Tao flows in all directions. It's in everything,

तो तभ ु कोई याथता जरूय ननकर रोगे

अगय तभ ु अऩने िनत इभानदाय यहते हो तो तभ ु कबी नही बटकोगे

अगय तभ ु अऩनी स्ज़न्दगी भें जीवॊत यहते हो तभ ु तबी जीते हो

ताओ सबी हदशाओ भें है मह हय वथतु भें है

but nothing can contain it.

ऩय हय वथतु के ऩास मह नही है

Everything needs Tao,

सब को इसकी जरूयत है

so Tao provides, and never expects anything in return. Everything comes from Tao, but Tao doesn't call attention to itself. It wants for nothing. Think nothing of it. Everything leads to Tao, but Tao doesn't lord it over them. Thus it may be called "The Great". It is just because it does not wish to be great, That’s its greatness is fully realized 35. When you get right with Tao, everybody wants to be your friend. When they're around you, they can relax and enjoy themselves. People can be easily distracted by music or good food. When we try to talk about Tao, it seems boring by comparison. It doesn't look like much. It doesn't sound like much. But no matter how much you use, there's still plenty left. 36. To make something shrink,

तबी तो मह िदान कयती है

औय फदरे भें कुछ नही चाहती

हय चीज ताओ से आती है

ऩय मह अऩने आऩ को ऩदण लशणत नही कयती

मह कुछ चाहती बी नही औय कुछ सोचती बी नही

हय चीज ताओ की तयप जाती है

ऩय वह उनका थवाभी नही फनती

इसलरए इसे हभ भहान बी कहते है

क्मोंफक मह कबी इस भहानता की इच्छा नही यखती मही तो इसकी भहानता है

जफ आऩ ताओ के साथ एक होते है

तफ हय कोई आऩका लभत्र होना चाहता है जफ वे आऩके आसऩास होते है

वे खुद को शाॊत व आनॊहदत भहसस ू कयते है

रोगो का ध्मान आसानी से बॊग हो जाता है अच्छे सॊगीत मा अच्छे बोजन द्वाया

जफ हभ ताओ की फात कयते है

मह हभें औयो के भक ु ाफरे उफाऊ रगता है मह औय फकसी जैसा नही होता

न ही उन जैसा इसका अथण होता है

रेफकन तभ ु इसका फकतना बी उऩमोग कयो मह हभेशा होती है

फकसी चीज को ऩतरा कयने के लरए

ऩहरे उसे णखचो

you must first stretch it.

उसे छोटा कयने के लरए

In order to contract,

उसे ऩहरे फढाओ

It is necessary to first expand

फकसी को कभजोय फनाने के लरए

To make something weaker,

ऩहरे उसे शस्क्त दो

you must first strengthen it.

फकसी चीज से ऩीछा छुटने के लरए

To get rid of something,

उसे िदलशणत कयो

you need to promote.

फकसी चीज को रेने के लरए

To take something,

उसे सब कुछ दे दो

you must give it up entirely.

इसे ही कहते है सक्ष् ु भ दृष्टी

This is called subtle vision.

भॊद औय कोभर,

The weak and supple

प्रवजमी हो जाता है तेज औय सख्त से

overcomes the strong and hard. Fish must not emerge from the deeps

जैसे की एक भछरी को ताराफ से फहाय नही आना चाहहए

एक याज्म को अऩने गप्ु त हचथमायों का िदशणन नही कयना चाहहए

The vital tools of a state must not be revealed. 37. Tao never does anything

ताओ कबी कुछ नहीॊ कयती

but nothing is left undone.

फपय बी न होने को कुछ फचता बी नही

If our leaders could get in touch with Tao,

अगय हभाये नामक ताओ के अनस ु ाय हो जाए

The world would take care of itself. If they still desired to act, They would return to the simplicity of original state With the simplicity of true nature,

अगय वे फपय बी कुछ कयना चाहते है तो सयर व वाथतप्रवक यहे

सच्चे थवरूऩ की सयरता होने से इच्छाए नही होती

there will be no desire.

औय इच्छाओ के न होने से

Without desire,

शाॊनत लभरती है

there will be peace. And the world will naturally be in accord

औय मे सॊसाय िकृनत के अनस ु ाय ही सही यथते ऩय चरता है

with the right Way

तो मे दनु नमा अऩना ध्मान खुद यख रेगी

TE-THE VIRTUE(िे-वह सामर्थयय)

38. A truly good man is not aware of his goodness,

एक अच्छा व्मस्क्त

उसको अऩनी अच्छाई का ऻान नही होता है

इसलरए ही तो वो अच्छा होता है

And is therefore good.

एक भख ु ण व्मस्क्त अच्छा होने का ढोंग कयता है

A foolish man tries to be good,

इसीलरए तो वह फयु ा होता है

And is therefore not good.

वह अच्छा व्मस्क्त कुछ नहीॊ कयता

A truly good man does nothing,

फपय बी न होने क लरए कुछ नही फचता

Yet leaves nothing undone.

वह भख ु ण व्मस्क्त हभेशा फकसी चीज भें रगा यहता है

A foolish man is always doing,

फपय बी उसे सफ कुछ अऩण ू ण रगता है

Yet much remains to be done.

जफ दमारु रोग कामण कयते है

When kind people act,

वे इसके ऩरयणाभो के फाये भें नही सोचते

they do so without thinking about it.

वे हभेशा फस उसे कयते है

When the just act, they're always sure they're doing the right thing. But when selfish act, and nobody reacts,

ऩय जफ रारची व्मस्क्त कोई कामण कयता है तो उसे कोई कुछ नही कहता

they try to force everyone to do things their way. If you're not in touch with Tao, at least you can still have goodness. If you don't have goodness, there's always kindness. If you don't have kindness, there's always justice. If you don't have justice, all you have left is confusion. Confusion is an pale imitation of true faith and loyalty, and always leads to trouble. Therefore the master dwells on what is real and not what is on the surface, On the fruit and not the flower. Truly, he prefers what is within, to what is without. 39. Since time began, this is what it's meant to be in touch with Tao: Tao made the heavens clear.

क्मा ज्मादा जरूयी है ख्मानत मा अच्छाई

अगय तभ ु इच्छाओ औय सॊग्रह भें ऩयू ी तयह लरप्त हो तो मे तम् ु हायी स्ज़न्दगी भें कहठनाई रामेगे

If you hang on to your riches, you will suffer substantial loss. If you know when you have enough, you will never be disgraced. If you practice moderation, you can stay out of trouble. And that's the secret to lasting success. 45. The greatest achievements may look like mistakes, but you will always be able to build upon them. The fullest reserves may seem empty, but you will always be able to draw upon them. The straightest line looks crooked. The most skilled people come off as clumsy. The most eloquent people are usually silent. When it's cold, you can move around to stay warm. When it's hot, you should keep still and stay cool. But whatever the weather, if you stay calm, the world will sort itself out around you 46. When the world is right with Tao, horses haul fertilizer to the fields. When the world loses touch with Tao, horses are trained for cavalry. Nothing is more insidious than possession. Nothing is more dangerous than desire. Nothing is more disastrous than greed. घोिो का खाद जभीॊ को उऩजाऊ फनाता है

जफ मह दनु नमा ताओ के साथ एक नही होती है उन्ही घोिो को मि ु भें रे जामा जाता है

अचधऩत्म थथाप्रऩत कयने से घातक कुछ नही है इच्छाओ से खतयनाक कुछ नही है रारच से बमावह कुछ नही है

जफ तभ ु जानते हो की जो तम् ु हाये ऩास है वो कापी है तफ तम् ु हाये ऩास हभेशा कापी होता है

तम् ु हे अऩना कभया त्मागने की जरूयत नही है

मह सभझने के लरए की इस सॊसाय भें क्मा हो यहा है

You don't have to look out the window to appreciate the beauty of heaven. The farther you wander the less you know. The Masters don't wander around They know. They don't just look. They understand. They don't do anything, but the work gets done. 48. Usually, we try to learn something new every day. But if we want to get right with Tao, we have to let go of something every day. We do less and less, until we end up doing nothing. And it's when we do nothing that we get the job done. Let events take their course, and everything will turn out in your favor. If you act on your ambitions, they will never pan out. 49. The Masters don't make up their minds. They turn listen to other people. They are good to good people, and they're good to bad people. This is real goodness. They have faith in the faithful, and they have faith in the unfaithful. This is real faith.

तो हभे हय हदन इन भे से कुछ न कुछ बर ु ाना होगा, त्मागना होगा हभे इन्हें तफ तक त्मागना होगा

जफ तक की हभाये ऩास कुछ नही फचे औय जफ हभाये ऩास कुछ नही फचेगा औय तफ हभाया कामण ऩण ू ण होगा

सब घटनाओ को उनके िवाह अनस ु ाय होने दो औय सब कुछ तम् ु हाये अनस ु ाय हो जामेगा

अगय तभ ु अऩनी इच्छाओ को ऩण ू ण कयने की कोलशश कयते हो तो तभ ु कबी सपर नही होते

साधु भनु न खद ु को सन ु ने के लरए नही कहते वे तो दस ु यो की फातो को सन ु ते है

वे अच्छे रोगो के साथ अच्छा होते है

औय फयु े रोगो के साथ बी अच्छा होते है मही तो वाथतप्रवक अच्छाई है

उनका बयोसेभद ॊ ो भें बयोसा होता है

औय जो बयोसेभद ॊ ो नही होते उन भें बी बयोसा होता है मही तो सच्चा प्रवश्वास है

रोगो भें प्रवश्वास फनाने के लरए औय उन्हें एक कयने के लरए रोग उसको गौय से दे खते है

क्मोंफक वह एक फच्चे की तयह आश्चमण सा होते है

because he lives a life of child-like wonder.

जो रोग ऩाना चाहते है

50. People who look for the

रम्फी स्ज़न्दगी का यहथम वो जल्दी ही भयते है

secret of long life wind up dead.

क्मोंफक उनका शयीय उनकी स्ज़न्दगी ऩय आधारयत होता है

Their bodies are the focus of their lives

औय उनके भत्ृ मु के कायण ऩय

and the source of their death,

because they think a healthy body

एक थवथथ शयीय ही स्ज़न्दगी के लरए कापी है

A man who truly understood life

could walk through the jungle without fear

Or across a battlefield without armor,

बफरकुर कवचयहहत

totally unarmed.

जॊगरी जानवय औय हचथमाय उसे नही भाय सकते

Wild animals and weapons couldn't kill him.

हाॉ भै जनता हूॉ, भै जनता हूॉ इससे क्मा भतरफ है वह भाया नही जा सकता

I know, I know: what does that mean? "Well, he couldn't be killed, because his body wasn't where he kept his death."

51. All things arise from Tao. They are nourished by Virtue. They are formed from matter. They are shaped by environment. Everything respects Tao and honors its virtue. That's just the way it is. Tao gives life to all things, and its power watches out for them, cares for them, helps them grow, protects them, and comforts them. Create something without holding on to it. Do the work without expecting credit for it. Lead people without giving them orders. That's the secret of the power of Tao

If I had any insight, I'd be trying to get right with Tao, and the only thing fear will be of straying from it. It's not that hard to get right with Tao, but people are easily distracted. When the king's palace is full of treasure, ordinary people's fields are smothered with weeds, and the food supplies run out." Today, you see finely dressed people carrying sharp swords And indulge themselves

औय तम् ु हायी स्ज़न्दगी खुलशमों से बय जाएगी

अगय तभ ु हय वक़्त कुछ न कुछ फोरते यहते हो फकसी चीज भें रगे यहते हो

तो तम् ु हाये लरए कोई उम्भीद नही है

इसभें अॊतदृणस्ष्ट चाहती है

वथतओ की सक्ष् ु ु भता को सभझने के लरए इसभें साभथ्मण चाहता है

आयाभ से इसके साथ ढरने के लरए

इस साभथ्मण का उऩमोग कयो अऩनी अॊतदृणस्ष्ट को दे खने के लरए औय तम् ु हे हभेशा शाॊनत लभरेगी

इसे यथते से हभ ताओ के साथ एक फन सकते है अगय भेये ऩास थोिी सी बी अॊतदृणस्ष्ट है

तो भै ताओ के साथ एक फनने की कोलशश करुगा भेया अकेरा डय इससे दयू होने का होगा

मह इतना भस्ु श्कर बी नही है

ऩय रोग अऩना ध्मान आसानी से इस ऩय से खो दे ते है

खजाने से बया होता है

तफ उसकी िजा के खेत

खयऩतवाय से ग्रलसत होते है

औय याज्म भें बोजन की तॊगी होती है

आज हभ दे खते है अच्छी ऩोशाको भें सज्जे धज्जे रोगो को जो की रारची होते है औय यखते है तेज हचथमाय औय खुद को बोगते है ,

with food and drink; They have more possessions than they can use. They are robber barons. This is certainly not the way of Tao. 54. What is firmly established cannot be uprooted. What is firmly grasped cannot slip away. It will be honored from generation to generation. Cultivate Virtue in yourself, And Virtue will be real. Cultivate it in the family, And Virtue will abound. Cultivate it in the village, And Virtue will grow. Cultivate it in the nation, And Virtue will be abundant. Cultivate it in the universe, And Virtue will be everywhere. Therefore judge the individual as individual; Judge the family as your family; Judge the village as your village; Judge the nation as your nation; Judge the universe as whole universe. How can I know this? I just do. 55. A person filled with the power of Tao is like a baby boy: bees can't sting him, wild beasts can't attack him. A baby has soft bones and weak muscles, but a firm grip.

अऩने याष्र को प्रवकलसत कयो औय औय सॊऩन्नता सम्ऩण ू ण होगी

सम्ऩण ू ण ब्रह्भाण्ड को प्रवकलसत कयो औय औय मह हय जगह होगा

एक व्मस्क्त को व्मस्क्त की तयह दे खो जैसे की तभ ु हो

एक ऩरयवाय को ऩरयवाय की तयह दे खो जैसे की तम् ु हाया हो एक गाॉव को गाॉव की तयह दे खो जैसे की तम् ु हाया हो

उसने कबी काभ नही बोगा होता

but he can get an erection.

he's at one with his world.

If you're at one with the world,

तो आऩको अॊतदृणस्ष्ट का ऻान होता है

you know insight.

अगय आऩको अॊतदृणस्ष्ट का ऻान होता है

And if you know insight,

तो आऩ ऩयभ फौप्रित होते है

you've been enlightened.

मह फप्रु िभता नहीॊ है मह इस तयह से उत्तेस्जत होना

It is not wise to rush about.

अऩने श्वास को योकना औय खुद को उसका ननमॊत्रण कयना

To Control the breath causes strain.

हद से ज्मादा होना प्रवनाश का कायण होता है

To be overflowed follows decay

मह ताओ का याथता नही है

This is not the way of Tao.

वे ताओ की साथ अऩना सॊफध ॊ खो चुके होते है

They've lost touch with Tao,

औय जफ आऩ ताओ की साथ अऩना सॊफध ॊ खो चक ु े होते है

and when you lose touch with Tao,

तो आऩ ज्मादा दे य नही ठहयते हो

you will not last long.

जो जानते है वो ज्मादा फोरते नही है

56. Those who know, don't talk.

Those who talk, don't know. Shut your mouth. Be still.

Relax Let go of your worries.

तो प्रवऩस्त्तम ही आती है औय दे शो से बी औय उसके रोगो से बी

जफ एक शासक ज्मादा चतयु औय चारक फनने की कोलशश कयता है

तो ऩरयस्थथनतमा उसके हाथो से ननकर जाती है औय बफगि जाती है

the situation spins further out of control.

जफ वे इनको औय ननमभ थोऩकय ठीक कयना चाहते है

When they try to fix things by passing more laws,

तो मह लसपण अऩयाधो को फढ़ावा दे ता है

they only increase the number of outlaws.

एक फप्रु िभान भणु खमा खुद को कहता है

A wise leader says to himself:

भैंने कुछ नही फकमा रोगो ने खद ु को फदर लरमा

"I do nothing, and people transform themselves.

भै तो चुऩ यहा था

I keep silent,

औय उन्होंने खुद से ही सही फकमा

and they do the right thing on their own.

भै तो उनके याथते भें आमा ही नही

I stay out of the way,

औय उन्होंने तयक्की की

and they prosper.

भैंने कुछ नही चाहा

I want for nothing,

औय वे सादा जीवन व्मतीत कय यहे है

and they lead simple lives." 58. When a nation is ruled with a light touch, people lead simple lives.

जफ एक याष्र ऩय सौम्म तयीके से शासन फकमा जाता है तो रोग सादा व सहज यहते है

When a government is harsh and demanding, people will spend their time trying to outsmart it. Misery is what Happiness depend upon . Happiness is what misery hides in. Who knows what the future holds? Happiness or misery. Is there no proper norm that exists? what's considered proper today may become improper.

ऩय जफ सयकाय सख्त औय रोबी होती है

तो रोग अऩना सभम रगाते है उसको हटाने के लरए

द्ु ख तो वह है जो सख ु ऩय हटका हुआ है औय सख ु व है स्जसभे द्ु ख नछऩा हुआ है

कौन जानता है है की बप्रवष्म भें क्मा है सख ु मा द्ु ख

क्मा इनभे से एक बी चीज सम्ऩण ू ण नही हो सकती है ? स्जसे आज उचचत सभझा जाता है वह फाद भें अनचु चत हो जाती है

सही रगने वारे अबासो भें कई फाय नछऩी होती है

Correct appearances may hide

फेईभानी औय घण ृ ा

dishonesty and sinfulness

फहुत ऩहरे से ही रोग पॉसे हुए है इस भ्रभ भें

Long indeed, man has been under such delusion.

इसीलरए साधु भनु न तेज होते है ऩय ऩैने नही

Therefore the masters are sharp but not cutting,

धायदाय होते है ऩय नक ु ीरे नही

Pointed but not piercing,

वे सयर होते है ऩय अथबाप्रवक नही

They are Straightforward but not strained,

वे शानदाय होते है ऩय हदखावी नही

Brilliant but not blinding.

नेतत्ृ व सॊमभ औय सहजता ऩय आधारयत होता है

59. Leadership is based on moderation and simplicity.

सॊमभ औय सहजता का अभ्मास कयो

Practice moderation and simplicity,

औय तभ ु ताओ के साभथ्मण के साथ होगे

and you'll get in touch with the power of Tao. If you get right with Tao, nothing is impossible.

अगय तभ ु ताओ के साथ सही होते हो तो कुछ बी नाभभ ु फकन नही

अगय कुछ बी नाभभ ु फकन नही है तो

If nothing is impossible,

इसकी कोई सीभा नही है जो तभ ु कय सकते हो

there's no limit to what you can do.

अगय उसकी इसकी कोई सीभा नही है जो तभ ु कय सकते हो

If there's no limit to what you can do,

उस सभम तभ ु वाथतव भें एक सही भणु खमा होते हो

you can be a true leader,

औय तभ ु इस ऩय ठहय ऩाते हो

And you lasts long through this way.

Remember this advice if you want to be a leader: भेये इस ऩयाभशण को माद यखो अगय तभ ु एक भणु खमा होना चाहते हो Plant deep roots in firm soil.

दृढ यहो

जैसे जिे स्जतनी गहयी लभटटी भें होती है उतनी ही भजफत ू होती है

This is regarded as a profound and firm foundation of the everlasting Tao.

मह फहुत ही गहन है तथा एक हभेशा यहने वारी ताओ का फनु नमाद है

60. When the empire is ruled in accordance with the Tao And you're in touch with Tao, you don't need to worry about evil.

जफ एक याज्म को ताओ के अनस ु ाय शालसत फकमा जाता है औय आऩ बी ताओ के अनस ु ाय होते है

तो तम् ु हे फयु े रोगो से बमबीत होने की कोई जरूयत नही होती

Not that the evil has no spiritual power, of course, ऐसा नही है की फयु ो रोगो के ऩास शस्क्त नही होती but the sprits themselves do not harm to men.

Also, as a wise leader, can cause no harm to his people, If only the leader and his people

ऩय वह शस्क्त थवमॊ तम् ु हे नक ु सान नही ऩहुचाती

औय एक फप्रु िभान भणु खमा की तयह वह बी कबी फकसी को नक ु सान नही ऩहुचाता

अगय याजा औय उसकी िजा

फकसी को बी एक दस ु ये से डय न हो

won't have to worry about getting hurt,

तो इससे उनका याज्म परता पूरता है

All the benefits would accumulate the kingdom. 61. A great nation rules by placing

एक फिा याष्र छोटे याज्मों को शालसत कयता है

itself in a lowly position,

खुद को रचीरा व प्रवनम्र फनाकय जैसे की सायी नहदमा फहती है

like the rivers that flow

अऩने से ननचे थथान वारे सभद ुॊ य की तयप

into the low regions of ocean.

इससे रोगो का थवालबकता से

Hence, people will naturally

प्रवश्वास होगा उनके याष्र के िनत

be faithful to their country.

जननी िकृनत हभेशा शाॊत व धैमव ण ान यहती है

Mother nature always stays

उत्तेस्जत्ता के शाॊत होने के लरए

calm and quiet to overcome the unrest.

इस तयह एक फिा याष्र अगय अऩने आऩ को रचीरा प्रवनम्र यखता है

Thus, if a great nation can lower itself

छोटे याज्मों को शालसत कयने के लरए है

to deal with a smaller nation,

तो वह रोगो के हदरो ऩय याज कयता है

Then it shall win the heart of the people.

औय छोटे याज्म

And the smaller nation

औय वे याज्म खुद की इच्छा से उसका हहथसा फन जाते है

will willingly merge with the great nation.

औय जफ एक छोटा याष्र खुद को रचीरा प्रवनम्र यखता है

And if the smaller nation can lower itself

फिे याष्र से ऩेश आते वक़्त

to deal with the great nation,

तो वह उस फिे याथत्र का प्रवश्वास स्जत रेता है

Then it shall win the trust and be accommodated as a part of the great nation.

इसीलरए जो प्रवजेता फनना चाहते है उन्हें झुकना बी ऩिता है

Therefore those who would conquer must yield, And those who conquer do so because they yield. The great nation only wishes to unite and shelter all the people, While the small nation only wishes to be a part of the nation to serve it. Now that both are granted with what they wish for, It is only natural for the “Great” to put itself in a lowly position. 62. Every living thing gets its strength from Tao. Good people respect the value of Tao. The wicked and foolish don't, but Tao provides for them anyway.

औय फिे याष्र का सॊयऺण ऩाता है

क्मोंफक झुककय ही वे प्रवजेता फन ऩाते है

एक फिा याष्र चाहता है लसपण

एकता औय सॊऩन्नता अऩने रोगो की जफफक एक छोटा याष्र चाहता है एक फिे याष्र का हहथसा होना

अफ जफ दोनों की इच्छा ऩण ू ण हो जाती है जो वे चाहते है

इसलरए हभ कह सकते है की मह अच्छा होता है

खद ु को ननचा यखना अथाणत प्रवनम्र व रचीरा यखना

हय सजीव वथतु ऩाती है अऩनी उजाण ताओ से

अच्छे रोग ताओ की अहलभमत का आदय कयते है जफफक भख ु ण औय घभॊडी नही कयते

ऩय ताओ उनको बी उजाण िदान कयती है

Some people gain power and prestige through fancy words, others through great deeds. But Tao is available to everyone, not just the powerful. So don't look down on anybody.

Therefore, इसीलरए it is better to embrace this precious Tao than to be crowned as kings or to possess wealth and fine horses. Why have the Masters always respected Tao? Because when you get right with Tao, you can always find what you need to get by, and trouble can never find you. Thus, It is the greatest honor in the world. 63. Keep still and Act without personal desire. Manage without intentional concern. Taste without desire of the flavor. Hold the same regard for big or small, abundant or little and reward the unkind with kindness. Learn to appreciate everyday life. Pay attention to details. Start small and work your way up. When people give you trouble, let it slide. Break everything down to its essentials. Get the job done before it becomes a chore. With the right preparation, difficult tasks can be completed with ease; every major project

कुछ रोग ऩाते है ताकत औय ख्मानत उनके प्रवलशष्ट शब्दों द्वाया

कुछ ऩाते है उनके अच्छे कभो द्वाया ऩय ताओ तो सफके लरए है

लसपण शस्क्तवान के लरए नही

इसीलरए फकसी को ननचा भत सभझो

ताओ के साथ सभाप्रवष्ट होना अच्छा है एक याजा फनने से

मा फपय धन साम्ऩन्म होने से

साधु भनु न क्मों ताओ का आदय सत्काय कयते है क्मोंफक जफ तभ ु ताओ के साथ होते हो तभ ु ऩाते हो जो तम् ु हे चाहहए

औय ऩये शाननमा तम् ु हे खोज बी नही ऩानत

इसीलरए मही तो सब से फिा साभथ्मण है इस सॊसाय भें

शाॊत यहो औय अऩनी इच्छाए त्मागकय कभण कयो अऩने राब के बफना कामण को दे खो चखो बफना थवाद की चाह के

इसी तयह छोटे औय फिे को बी सभझो औय कभ औय ज्मादा को बी

औय जो दमारु नही है उसके लरए बी दमारु फनो

हय हदन की स्जॊदगी की कि कयना सीखो छोटी छोटी चीजो ऩय ध्मान दो

छोटे से शरु ु आत कयो फपय उसे फिा कयते जाओ जफ रोग तम् ु हे ऩये शाननमा दे उन्हें जाने दो

हय चीज को फाॊट कय दे खो उसके छोटे हहथसों के रूऩ भे कामण को ऩण ू ण कयो,

इससे ऩहरे की वो प्रवप्ऩनत न फन जाए सही तैमायी से

फिे भस्ु श्कर कामण बी

आसानी से ऩण ू ण हो जाते है हय फिी शरु ु आत

छोटे छोटे कदभो से होती है

consists of simple steps.

साधु भनु न ज्मादा फिे काभ की शरु ु आत नही कयते

The Masters don't take on

स्जतना की वो सॊबार नही ऩाए

more than they can handle,

इसीलरए तो वो हय चीज को कय सकते है

which is why they can do just about anything.

स्जतना तभ ु दे सको उससे ज्मादा का वादा भत कयो

Don't promise more than you can deliver,

औय फकसी कामण को कभतय भत आॊको

and don't underestimate the task:

इससे तभ ु थवमॊ ही अऩनी भस्ु श्करों को फढ़ा यहे होते हो

You'll only make things harder for yourself.

साधु भनु न हभेशा ऩहरे ही जागरूक होते है

The Masters are always aware of the

कामण भें होने वारी फाधाओॊ से

difficulties involved, which is why they never have to deal with them. 64. What is at rest is easy to hold. Trouble is easily overcome before it starts. Fragile things break easily, and small things are easy to lose. Deal with the situation before it becomes a problem. Keep everything straight so it can't get messed up. Every tree was once a seed. Every skyscraper started out with a shovelful of dirt. A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step. When you try too hard, you defeat your own purpose. Cling to stuff, and you will suffer loss. The Masters make no effort, so they never fail. They aren't attached to things, so they never feel loss. People often screw up

इसी लरए तो उन्हें उनका साभना नही कयना ऩिता

जो शाॊत है उसे आसानी से दफोचा जा सकता है

प्रवप्ऩनतमो को शरू ु होने के ऩहरे ही खत्भ फकमा जा सकता है नाजक ु चीज को आसानी से तोडा जा सकता है

औय छोटी चीजो को आसानी से खोमा जा सकता है

ऩरयस्थथतमो का साभना कयो

इससे ऩहरे की वो प्रवऩस्त्त फन जाए हय चीज को सयर यखो

ऩहरे की वो उरझ जाए

हय ऩेि ऩहरे एक फीज होता है हय फिी ईभायत की शरु ु आत एक ऩत्थय से होती है कई लभर का सफ़य

एक कदभ से शरू ु होता है

जफ आऩ अत्मचधक कठोयता से कोलशश कयते है आऩ अऩने ही रक्ष्म से बटक जाते है वथतओ से रगाव यखोगे ु

तो तम् ु हे नक ु सान ऩहुचेगा उनके खोने से

साधु जन सहज होते है

इसीलरए तो वे कबी असपर नही होते वे चीजो भें आसक्त नही होते

इसीलरए तो वे उन्हें कबी नही खोते

रोग ध्मान हटा रेते है

जफ कामण ऩयू ा होने को होता है

when the job's nearly done. Pay as much attention to the finishing touches as you do to the initial steps, and you won't screw up like that. The Masters try to be free from desire. They don't collect precious things. They don't cling to any beliefs. They pay attention to what everybody else ignores. They help the world get right with Tao, but don't try to change a thing.

आखयी ऩिाव को बी उतनी ही अहलभमत दो स्जतनी के ऩहरे कदभ को दी थी

औय इससे तम् ु हाया ध्मान नही बटकेगा

साधु जन इच्छाओ से भक् ु त होने की सोचते है वे भल् का सॊग्रह नही कयते ू मवान वथतओ ु वे थवमॊ के प्रवश्वासों से फॊधे नही होते वे उस ऩय ध्मान दे ते है ,

स्जसको हय फकसी ने नकाय हदमा होता है

वे इस सॊसाय को ताओ के साथ सही होने भें भदद कयते है

रेफकन वो फकसी चीज़ को फदरने का िमत्न बी नही कयते ऩयु ाने सभम भें

65. In ancient times,

जफ नामक ताओ के साथ सही होते थे

leaders who were right with Tao didn't teach everybody how to become enlightened. They kept people's lives simple. People who know too much can't be taught anything. Leaders who try to be clever always screw things up. Leaders who keep things simple always make things right. If you get that,

वे रोगो को उऩदे श फाॉटते नही फपयते थे

वे तो फस उनके जीवन को सयर औय सहज यखते है

आदभी जो सफ कुछ जनता है

उसे कुछ लसखामा नही जा सकता

भणु खमा जो चतयु होने की कोलशश कयते है वो ऩरयस्थथनतमों को बफगाि दे ते है

जो नामक चीजो को सयर यखते है

वे ही उनको सही ढॊ ग से यख ऩाते है

अगय तभ ु सभझ गए

you'll understand the mysterious power of Tao. तो तभ ु ताओ की यहथमभमी शस्क्त को सभझ गए That kind of power is so deep, so extensive, it penetrates into every level of existence. 66. An ocean is greater than the hundred rivers that flow into it, and all it does is wait to receive what they bring. If the sage would guide the people, he must serve with humility. If he would lead them, he must follow behind.

इस िकाय की शस्क्त फहुत ही ताकतवय होती है औय फहुत ही गहन मह होने वारी हय चीज को बेद सकती है

एक सभद ुॊ य फिा होता है

उसभे फहने वारी सैकिो नहदमों से औय वो फस कयता है इॊतजाय जो वो नहदमा राती है

अगय एक साधु को रोगो को सही हदशा हदखानी है तो उसे प्रवनभणता से ऩेश आना होगा

अगय उसे उनकी अगव ु ाई कयनी है तो उनको उनके ऩीछे ऩीछे चरना होगा

अगय तभ ु उनकी अगव ु ाई कयना चाहते हो तो

If you want to lead them,

ऩता रगाओ की वे कहा जाना चाहते है

find out where they want to go. In this way when the sage rules, the people will not feel oppressed; People love leaders who make them

इस तयह जफ वह साधु नेतत्ृ व कयता है

तफ रोग अऩने अचधकायों व अऩने को दफा हुआ नही सभझते है रोग ऐसे भणु खमा को चाहते है जो उनको उत्ऩीड़डत फकमे बफना उनके यऺा कयता है

feel safe without smothering them. They'll always support a leader like that, and because he doesn't try

वे हभेशा ऐसे भणु खमा का साथ दे ते है

चॉ फू क वह भणु खमा कोलशश नही कयता फकसी के साथ थऩधाण की

to compete with anybody,

इसीलरए कोई औय बी उसके साथ थऩधाण नही कयता

nobody is able to compete with him. 67. Everyone under heaven says that my Tao is great and beyond compare.

हय कोई थवगण के अॊदय कहता है की

भेयी ताओ बव्म है तथा सफसे अरग है

Because it is great, it seems different. If it were not different, it would have vanished long ago.

क्मोंफक मह बव्म है

इसीलरए तो मह सफसे लबन्न है

अगय मह सफसे लबन्न नही होती तो

फहुत ऩहरे की सभाप्त हो गमी होती स्जॊदगी भें तीन भल् ू म सफसे जरूयी है

The three most important qualities in life are Compassion, or showing kindness and mercy to others,

सहानबनू त मा रोगो के िनत दमाबाव

सहजता मा फकसी वथतु के भहत्व को सभझना

Simplicity, or knowing what a thing is worth, and

नम्रता मा फकसी के साथ थऩधाण नही कयने से

Humbleness, or daring not to be ahead of others. Courage stems from showing kindness and mercy to others. Generosity starts with knowing what a thing is worth. True leadership begins with daring not to be ahead of others. But these days, I see everyone trying to act courageous without any trace of compassion. They try to be generous but they have no Simplicity in their own lives. They act like leaders, but they have no sense of Humbleness.

साहस आता है ,

रोगो के साथ सहानब ु नू त हदखाने से दमाबाव हदखाने से उदायता आती है ,

वथतओ का वाथतप्रवक भहत्व जानने से ु नेतत्ृ व की ऺभता आती है ,

उनके साथ प्रवनभण यहने से

ऩय इन हदनों

हय कोई होना चाहता है फहादयु बफना फकसी सहानब ु नू त के होना चाहता है उदाय

बफना जीवन भें सहजता के नेतत्ृ व कयना चाहता है

बफना प्रवनम्रता की सभझ के

इससे कुछ अच्छा नही हो सकता

No good can come of this.

अगय तभ ु रोगो से आगे होना चाहते हो

If you want to get ahead,

तो उनको दमाबाव हदखाओ

show people compassion.

जफ वे तभ ु ऩय हभरा कये

When other people attack you,

सहानब ु नू त से अऩना फचाव कयो

defend yourself with compassion.

मह इस ब्रह्भाण्ड का सफसे सफसे ताकतवय फर है

It's the most powerful force in the universe.

एक अच्छा लसऩाही हहॊसक नही होता

68. A good soldier is not violent.

एक अच्छा मोिा कबी अऩना आऩा नही खोता

A good warrior does not lose his temper. A great conqueror does not challenge others.

एक भहान प्रवजेता कबी दस ु यो को चुनोती नही दे ता एक अच्छा भणु खमा प्रवनम्र होता है

A good leader is humble.

फकसी को नौकयी ऩय यखने का सफसे अच्छा तयीका है

The best way of employing a man

तभ ु उसके साथ यहकय काभ कयो

is to serve under him

मही तो शस्क्त है असॊघप्रषणत होने की

This is the virtue of not contending; this is called directing the strength of others;

इसे कहते है उन्ही की शस्क्त को उऩमोग भें राना

Such is regarded as achieving harmony with nature.

इसे सभझा जाता है िकृनत के साथ सही तारभेर फनाना मही तो ऩयभ वाथतप्रवकता का एकरूऩ है

Such is the perfect Oneness of true nature.

एक ऩयु ानी पौजी कहावत है

69. There's an old military saying:

"I'd rather face an attack than have to make one. “भै एक आक्रभण का साभना कयना चाहुगा न की ऩहरे उसे कयना” I'd rather retreat a foot than try to advance an inch." “भै एक कदभ ऩीछे फढ़ाना चाहुगा आगे फढ़ने से ऩहरे” This is called marching without appearing to move, Capturing the enemy without attacking, Being armed without weapons.

इसे कहते है बफना चरे िगनत कयना

दश्ु भन का साभना कयना बफना उस ऩय आक्रभण फकमे शसक्त होना बफना हचथमायों के

When you defend yourself without any show of force, जफ आऩ अऩना फचाव कयते है बफना कोई फर हदखाए you give your opponent nothing to fight. Attacking an enemy you've underestimated is a costly mistake. When two forces oppose each other, the winner is the one who feels the grief.

तो आऩ आऩने िनतद्वॊदी को रिने के लरए कुछ नही छोिते अऩने दश्ु भन ऩय आक्रभण कयना

जो की आऩने फहुत ही कभतय आॊका था सफसे भहॉगी गरती होती है जफ दो शस्क्तमा आऩस भें टकयाती है तो प्रवजेता वही होता है

जो इससे होने वारे नक ु सान व ऩीिा को सभझता है

70. My words of Tao is easy to understand and to practice. However, the world can neither understand nor practice them.

भेये ताओ के मे शब्द आसन है ,

सभझने के लरए औय अभ्मास के लरए रेफकन फपय बी मे सॊसाय

न ही इन्हें सभझता है न ही इनका अभ्मास कयता है

In my words of Tao, there is the subtle truth. In my deeds,

भेये ताओ के इन शब्दों भें

सक्ष् ु भ सत्म प्रवद्मभान है

भेये द्वाया फकमे गए कभण

ताओ के हदखाए गए यथते के अनस ु ाय है

there is the Way of Tao. People didn't get that,

रोग मह नही सभझते

इसीलरए तो वे ताओ को नही सभझते

which is why they didn't understand Tao.

औय स्जतना वे ताओ को नही सभझते है

And the less they understood Tao,

उतना ही औय गढ़ ू यहथम ताओ हो जाती है

the more meaningful the Tao became.

मही कायण है की साधु भनु न सयर औय सहज तयीके से जीते है

That's why the Masters live simply,

अऩने ऻान को अऩने अॊदय सभेटे गहयाई से

hiding their wisdom deep within themselves.

लभथ्मा अऻान को जानना साभथण है

71. Knowing ignorance is strength.

ऻान को न जानना कभजोयी है

Ignoring knowledge is sickness. If one is sick of sickness,

अगय कोई ऩीड़ित है ऩीिा को

then one is not sick.

तो वह असर भें ऩीड़ित नही है

The sage is not sick because he is sick of that sickness. 72. When you show no fear at all, the universe gives you something to really be afraid of. When people do not respect the authority, There shall be great misfortune. Don't try to fence people in or grind them down. Just let them be, and they'll always be on your side. The Masters know themselves, but they don't reveal themselves. They love themselves, but they know what their lives are worth. They let go of all that to concentrate on this. 73. A brave and passionate man will kill or be killed. A brave and calm man will always preserve life.

साधु भनु न ऩीड़ित नही होते

क्मोंफक वे तो इस ऩीिा को ऩीड़ित होते है जफ आऩ कोई बी बम नही हदखाते है तो

मे ब्रह्भाण्ड आऩको कुछ न कुछ दे ता है स्जससे आऩको सच भें बम हो

जफ रोग आदे शो का आदय नही कयते है तो मह एक फिी बर ू होती है

रोगो को भत सताओ औय उन ऩय योक भत रगाओ उन्हें होने दो जो उन्हें होना चाहहए

औय इससे तभ ु हभेशा उनके तयप होगे

साधु भनु न हभेशा थवमॊ को जानते है

ऩय वे इसे फकसी को िदलशणत नही कयते है वे खुद को चाहते बी है ,

ऩय वे जानते है की उनके जीवन का क्मा भल् ू म है क्मा उद्देश्म है

वे इस सब को जाने दे ते है औय जो है उस ऩय ध्मान रगाते है एक फहादयु औय आवेलशत व्मस्क्त मा तो भये गा मा भय जामेगा रेफकन एक फहादयु औय धैमव ण ान व्मस्क्त

हभेशा रोगो की स्ज़न्दगी फचाने की सोचेगा

Of these two which is good and which is harmful?

अफ सोचो इनभे से कौन फहादयु है औय कौन नक ु सानदामक

What nature wishes,

िकृनत क्मा चाहती है कौन जान ऩामा है

who may know what the reasons are?

इसीलरए साधु भनु न ऩरयचचत होते है इस सक्ष् ु भता से

Thus, the master is aware of the subtlety

औय इस िकृनत के यथते की गहनता से

and profoundness of the Nature’s Way,

इसी तयीके से ताओ कामण कयती है

This is how Tao works:

मह अऩने आऩको फढ़ावा नही दे ती

It doesn't push itself,

औय फपय बी मह सपर हो जाती है

and it always succeeds.

मह चऩ ु चाऩ अऩना काभ कय रेती है

It acts silently,

औय हभेशा कुछ कयती है

and it always reacts.

इसे आहत नही फकमा जा सकता

It can't be summoned;

जफ मह चाहती है तफ मह आती है

it comes whenever it's ready.

मह कबी जल्दफाजी नही कयती

It can't make rush;

मह हभेशा सभम ऩय आती है

it's always on time.

थवगण का जार फहुत फिा है इसभें फहुत फिे छे द बी है

Heaven's net casts wide. Though its meshes are large,

फपय बी उनभे से कुछ नही फपसरता

nothing slips through.

जफ रोगो भें भौत का डय नही यहता

74. When people do not fear death,

तफ कोई कोलशश नही कयता

There is no use trying to

उन्हें भौत से डयाने की

threaten them with death.

अगय रोग अऩनी स्ज़न्दगी का भल् ू म सभझे

If people value their lives, and those who break the law were being executed, Then who would dare to commit criminal act? The life and death of all beings are handled by the executioner of Nature. Those who substitute the nature executioner to kill, Is like replacing the master carpenter to chop the wood. One who substitutes the master carpenter to chop the wood, Rarely does not hurt his hands.

औय अऩयाचधमो को सजा दी जाए

तो कौन हहम्भत कये गा अऩयाध कयने की

जन्भ औय भत्ृ मु तो

इस िकृनत के ननमभो द्वाया मभयाज के हाथ भें है जो रोग इसे ननमॊत्रण भें कयना चाहते है औय मभयाज से फदरना चाहते है मह तो वैसा है जैसे की

जैसे की एक भख् ु म फढई को रकिी काटने के लरए कह हदमा जाए जो ऐसा कयते है

फढई को रकिी काटने के लरए कहते है उनके ऐसे कभ ही भौके होते है

जफ उनके हाथो को चोट नही ऩहुचती

75. People starve because the government taxes them to death.

रोग बख ू े भयते है क्मोंफक

सयकाये उन ऩय ज्मादा कय रगाती है

रोग प्रविोही फनते है क्मोंफक

People rebel because

सयकाय अऩने अनस ु ाय उन्हें चराना चाहती है

the government tries to run their lives.

वे ननयथणक स्ज़न्दगी जीते है क्मोंफक

People act like life is meaningless because

सयकाय रेना चाहती है उन से सब कुछ

the government takes everything they have.

जो रोग जानते है स्जन्दगी को जीना

People who know how to enjoy life

वे फप्रु िभान होते है उनसे जो अऩनी स्जॊदगी को भल् ू महीन सभझते है

are wiser than people who value their lives

एक फच्चे का शयीय कोभर औय नाजुक होता है

76. A baby's body is soft and gentle.

एक भत ृ कठोय व रुखा होता है

A corpse is hard and stiff.

ऩेि औय ऩौधे भर ु ामभ व उनभे साया साय होता है

Plants and trees are tender and full of sap.

सख ु ी ऩस्त्तम भयु झाई व रुखी हुई होती है

Dead leaves are brittle and dry. If you are rigid and unyielding,

अगय तभ ु सख्त व किे हो

you might as well be dead.

तो तभ ु एक भत ृ की तयह हो

अगय तभ ु कोभर औय रचीरे हो

If you are soft and flexible,

तबी तभ ु वाथतव भें स्जॊदा हो

you are truly alive.

स्जन लसऩाहहमों को भयने तक का रिना लसखामा जाता है वे भयते है

Soldiers trained to fight to the death will die. A tree that cannot bend with the wind will snap. Here's a useful saying: The harder they come, the harder they fall. The hard and strong will fall. The humble and weak will overcome. 77. The Tao of Nature is like stretching a bow. When the stretch is too high, It needs to be pressed down. When the stretch is too low, it needs to be raised high. The excess will be reduced. The deficient will be replenished. Tao takes energy from where it is, and sends it where it needs to be. But most people take from those who don't have enough,

जो ऩेि आॊधी भें नही झुकता वह टूटता है

एक भहतवऩण ू ण कहावत है

स्जतनी कठोय, तेजी से वे आमे

उतने ही कठोयता, तेजी से वे गए

सख्त औय ताकतवय असपर हो जाते है प्रवनम्र औय कभजोय जीत जाते है

ताओ का थवरूऩ एक धनष ु की ित्मॊचा खीचने जैसा है

जफ फहुत जोय से खीचा हदमा जाता है तो उसे वाऩस दफामा जाता है ताफक वह टूट न जाए जफ फहुत आयाभ से खीचा जाए तो उसे औय खीचने की जरूयत होती है

फहुतामत को कभ फकमा जाता है कभ को फपय से बया जाता है ताओ जहा है वह से उजाण रेती है

औय जहा होनी चाहहए वह बेजती है ऩय ज्मादातय रोग रेते है उनसे

स्जनके ऩास बफरकुर बी नही है

ताफक स्जनके ऩास सफ कुछ है

so those who have too much already

उनके ऩास औय हो सके

can have more.

तो इनभे से ज्मादा उदाय कौन है

So who in this world is truly generous to others?

जो ताओ के थऩशण भें होता है

People who are in touch with Tao.

वे कयते है कामण को उसका आश्रम लरए बफना,

They do their work without taking credit.

वे उसे कय रेते है औय फपय आगे फढ़ जाते है

They get the job done and move on.

वे उसका िदशणन कयने भें प्रवश्वास नही यखते

They aren't interested in showing off.

जर से ज्मादा कोभर औय रचीरा कुछ बी नही है

78. Nothing is softer or more yielding than water.

फपय बी सभम आने ऩय

Yet, given time,

वह फिी से फिी चट्टानों को बी काट दे ता है

it can erode even the hardest stone.

इसी तयह एक कभजोय एक ताकतवय को हयाता है

That's how the weak can defeat the strong,

औय एक कोभर जीत सकता है एक सख्त ऩय

and the supple can win out over the stiff. Everybody knows it. So why don't we apply it to our own lives? The ancient sages used to say: "Take on people's problems,

हय कोई इसे जानता है

तो फपय इसे अऩने जीवन भें क्मों नही अऩनाता

िाचीन भनु न कहा कयते थे

रोगो की सभथमाओ को सभझो

औय तभ ु उनके भणु खमा फन सकते हो

and you can be their leader.

इस सॊसाय की सभथमाओ को सभझो

Deal with the world's problems,

औय तभ ु एक साधु फन सकते हो

and you'll be a Master." Sometimes Truthful words may seem

कबी कबी सत्म फोि कयने वारे शब्द ितीत होते है , मथाथण जीवन भें उसका उल्टा

to be the reverse of worldly practices.

जफ दो प्रविोहहमों के बफच शाॊनत थथाऩना के फाद

79. When making peace between disputants,

उनभे आऩसी तनाव फपय बी फचा यहता है

there is always some remaining sense of dispute how can this constitute a good act? Thus, how can this be considered as a good settlement?

तो क्मा मह एक ऩण ू ण कामण हुआ है ? तो हभ इसे एक ऩयू ी तयह से अच्छा कामण फकस िकाय कह सकते है

Therefore, a sage cultivates himself

इसीलरए एक भनु न अऩने अॊदय प्रवकलसत कयता है

with introspection and self-discipline without blaming others for faults. Therefore, the sage keeps hold of the creditor’s tally but never calls in the debts others owe him.

आत्भप्रवश्रेषण की बावना औय अनस ु ाशन

औय अऩने कामो का फकसी औय ऩय दोष नही भढ़ता इस तयह वह रोगो को फहुत कुछ दे ता है ऩय कबी फकसी चीज की भाॊग नही कयता

Hence, a person of virtue acts

इस िकाय एक सभथण व्मस्क्त कामण कयता है बफना कुछ अऩेऺा यखे

as if he were the debtor.

औय एक असभथण व्मस्क्त कामण कयता है

And a person without virtue acts

हभेशा उनसे राब की अऩेऺा से

as if he were the creditor that demands only from others.

ताओ का थवरूऩ बेदयहहत है

The Tao of Nature is impersonal

वह हभेशा फकसी से बी बेदबाव नही कयती

which makes no exception to anyone.

औय दमारु औय प्रवनभण रोगो से सहानब ु नू त यखती है

It always assists those that are kind and virtuous. 80. I had a dream about a small country with very few people.

भै हभेशा कल्ऩना कयता हूॉ एक ऐसे छोटे से दे श की जहा फहुत कभ रोग यहते हो

औय उन्हें भशीनों की जरुयत न हो

They didn't need machines

अऩना काभ तेजी से कयने के लरए

to get their work done faster.

वे अऩनी स्जन्दगी को गॊबीयता से रे

They took their lives seriously,

औय हभेशा अऩने घयो के ऩास यहे

and stayed close to home.

हाराॉफक उनके ऩास उनके गयाज औय उनकी नाव हो

They may have owned boats and carriages,

ऩय वे कही न जाए वे वही यहे जहा ऩय वे यहते हो

but they never went anywhere.

उनके ऩास हचथमाय हो सकते है

They may have owned weapons, but they kept those weapons locked up, securely hidden. They had so few responsibilities, they never had to make a To-Do list to remember what had to be done. They enjoyed simple foods, dressed plainly, lived comfortably, and kept their traditions alive And even though their neighbors were so close they could hear the dogs barking at night, they had no interest in leaving their homes, where they grew old peacefully and died. 81. The truth isn't flashy. Flashy words aren't true. Words of truth are not pleasing. Pleasing words are not truthful. Educated people aren't always smart. Smart people don't always have an education. Good people don't argue. People who argue aren't good.

ऩय वे उनको नछऩा कय यखते हो तारे भें

उनके ऊऩय फहुत कभ स्जम्भेदारयमा हो उनको कबी अऩने कामो की सच ू ी न फनानी ऩिे, माद कयने के लरए की उन्हें क्मा कयना है

वे सादा बोजन कये औय सादे कऩडे ऩहने

सहजता से यहा औय हभेशा अऩने यीती रयवाजो को स्जॊदा यखे

औय वे फेशक ऩिोस भें इतनी आऩस भें इतनी नजदीक यहते हो की उन्हें कुत्तो का शोय बी सन ु े दे

ऩय उन्हें एक दस ु यो से कोई तकरीप न हो

औय वे वही ऩय जीवन व्मतीत कये औय वही िाण त्माग दे

सत्म फनावटी नहीॊ होता है

फनावटी शब्द सत्म नही होते है सत्म वचन कडवे होते है

भधुय वचन हभेशा सत्म नही होते है

लशक्षऺत व्मस्क्त हभेशा सभझदाय नही होते

औय हय सभझदाय व्मस्क्त लशक्षऺत नही होता अच्छे रोग फहस नही कयते

औय जो फहस कयते है वो अच्छे नही होते

The Masters don't hang on to things. They're always doing something for other people, so they always have more to give. They give away whatever they have, so what they have is worth more. If you want to get right with Tao, help other people, don't hurt them. The Masters always work with people, never contend them.

साधु रोग वथतओ भें आसक्त नही होते ु

वे हभेशा रोगो के लरए अच्छे कामण कय यहे होते है

इसीलरए उनके ऩास औय बी कुछ होता है रोगो को दे ने के लरए औय वे दे ते है जो बी उनके ऩास होता है

इसीलरए तो उनके ऩास हभेशा कुछ ज्मादा ही होता है

अगय तभ ु ताओ के साननध्म भें यहना चाहते हो

तो रोगो की भदद कयो उन्हें चोट भत ऩहुचाओ साधु रोग हभेशा रोगो के साथ काभ कयते है उनके साथ थऩधाण नही कयते
