2005 year seT 2005 marked 150 years of swedish stamps, a milestone celebrated with the Swedish Stamps 150 Years anniversary issue. 2005 was also the year of design in sweden, which was marked in several ways including Swedish Design – The 2005 Year of Design issue in January. Tv chef Tina nordström inspired this year’s eUroPa issue with the theme of gastronomy, EUROPA 2005 – Gastronomy, and the World heritage issues The High Coast, the Skogskyrkogården Cemetery and Grimeton Radio Station. sweden and norway’s 100 years of amicable relations were illustrated by two beautiful, engraved motifs of the svinesund bridge in the parallel issue Neighbours Developing Together, Sweden–Norway. This year’s national stamp day issue, Great Mopeds, is also a valuable contribution to the 2005 year set. you may also remember the new royal stamps Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Silvia, the Signs of Spring, Golden Oriole, Greta Garbo, Angels in the Milles Garden, Wild Cubs, and this year’s wonderful summer stamps, Summer at the Allotment.

Czeslaw Slania is probably the world’s bestknown stamp engraver of all time. During his long artistic life he engraved over 1,000 stamps for 31 countries and the UN. His strong interest in history has been extensively reflected in his work. He was fascinated by the Napoleonic era and historical pictures depicting horses, soldiers in armor and billowing flags. Here are some of his foremost works.

The Master Engraver 80 Years Old For his 80th birthday Czeslaw Slania made a dream come true, by engraving “The Death of Gustavus Adolphus II at the Battle of Lützen” (1632). The motif is the central part of a painting by Carl Wahlbom in Rome in 1855. Today it hangs in the Nationalmuseum in Stockholm. 25

The medal depicts Pehr ambjörn sparre on the obverse and a 4 skilling banco stamp on the reverse. The medal comes with a beautiful commemorative letter with the sparre stamp, from the swedish stamps 150 years issue, and a special cancellation showing sparre’s signature. The letter has been signed by artist ernst nordin and stamp engraver Martin Mörck. This is a limited edition of only 1,100 medals.

Collector’s Sheets a decorative collector’s sheet is produced for each new stamp issue. on the collector’s sheet, which is in a4 format, the stamp is mounted on a beautiful motif specially designed for the occasion. Many people choose to collect the sheets in albums so they can enjoy them whenever they like. others frame their favorite motifs and hang them on the wall at home or at work. There are texts about the issue in english, german and swedish on the reverse of the collector’s sheet.
Maximum Cards Maximum cards are produced for some issues to complement the stamp motifs. They have the stamp on the front cancelled with a special postmark. issued 4–5 times a year. Price: approx. sek 300 a year

Payment Sweden Post Stamps requests advance payment unless otherwise stated. We only deliver if the amount of the order is covered by the account. You can pay through one of our giro accounts. Unfortunately we cannot accept checks or cash. We accept Master Card and Visa.
Full warranty Purchases may be returned within 2 weeks after receipt for exchange or refund. Please write a few lines to tell us why you are returning it.
