Introduction 1 This document comments on STW 44/3/5 and STW 44/3/6 and is submitted in accordance with paragraph 6.12.5 of the Guidelines on the organization and method of work of the Maritime Safety Committee and the Marine Environmental Protection Committee and their subsidiary bodies (MSC-MEPC.1/Circ.4). 2 This document provides information on the newly amended ISF On Board Training Record Book for Officers in Charge of a Navigational Watch (Deck Cadets) and On Board Training Record Book for Officers in Charge of an Engineering Watch (Engine Cadets). 3 ISF has produced training record books for Officer Cadets since 1993 and for Deck and Engine Ratings since 2002. STW 44/INF.9 Page 2 4 To help ensure compliance with the new STCW Convention, ISF has updated its widely used On Board Training Record Book for Officers in Charge of a Navigational Watch (Deck Cadets) and On Board Training Record Book for Officers in Charge of an Engineering Watch (Engine Cadets). 5

The ISF Record Books: -

take full account of new STCW 2010 competence standards; and include structured tasks to ensure that trainees meet the requirements for certification stipulated by STCW 2010.
