Integrated Web-based Student Services and Account Management System of ICT-ED

Institute of Science and Technology Inc. Campuses.”

Background of the Proposed Topic

Due to increasing number of campuses in strategic locations and significant increase in number of students in the past three years of operation, ICT-ED Institute of Science and Technology Inc. is striving to provide quality services to its clientele. Currently the institution has five existing branches and is still still expecting  expecting to incur an increase an increase or further development and  progress in terms of student enrolment and infrastructure infrastructure due  due to the demand in the Technical and Vocational programs which are offered by Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA). With the foregoing success of the institution, institution, problems also arise arise.. During the set-up set-up and  and operation of its first branch, tracking of student profile, accounts and qualification records pose many problems since the institute is is   implementing a centralized record keeping  procedure. The management then then predicts  predicts that this problem will continue to arise arise in the future.

Since different different branches  branches will be will  be continuously submitting bulk of students’ records each school year to the head office, delays, mishandling and loss of records will pose threats in the accuracy of students’  students’  information and this kind of problems cannot be handled by the current system and cannot be solved by the current set-up set-up.. Hence the proposed study will help the institute to have an accurate and strong framework in record keeping, handling and disseminating accurate records to its end-users end-users and  and among branches in different areas.

The proposed system will support and provide a better solution for the institute by  providing an integrated and easy access to all student accounts and an d pertinent information at any  branch thus making all ICT-ED Institute of Science and Technology campuses like a home campus for every student and client. With the integrated system, the proposed study will provide a better link and fast and accurate access to the records not only to the institute’s personnel but also to the students by providing end-user interface for monitoring.

Objectives

The aim of this study is to characterize a web -based student service as to account management system problem and propose a better approach using the integrated account management system. The main objectives of this study are the following: Objectives must be specif ic and m easur able, compari son of exi sti ng to th e developed system shou ld not be an objective anymor e for it is alr eady part of the anal ysis phase.

1. Develop a better student account and services management framework that will solve student account and services management problems ; 2. Define quantitative measure and solutions in student accoun t and services management problems; 3. Develop Application Program Interface (API) that provide better record management system; 4. Compare proposed solution with the current implementations of ICT-ED Institute of Science and Technology.

Research Methodology Descri ptive type of r esearch i n th e fi eld of I nf ormati on Techn ology is nor mall y discour aged. Systems development or network -r elated proposals ar e the commonl y approved topics.

The proponent plans to adopt the descriptive type of research and will use quantitative approach in attaining relevant ideas that will involve in the design proposal. In this scheme, the  proponent will ask information in detailed questions regarding what they observed in actual to the institution. Proponent will also adopt quantitative approach at the same time which will observe particularly in numbers. This will give way to use the sampling method wherein data are to be manipulated by means of sample that will represent the whole population. Specifically, this research will cover the following: the research design and method, the respondents or subjects to be studied (which will include the sampling method), the data collection instrument, and the data analysis. Employees, the school administration, students and stake holders are the target respondents for this study. Every data to be gathered has a proof from the respondents. Proponent will interact on different participants which work are related to the proposed design. Data gathering tools such as surveys through the use of questionnaires and data sheets will be use to provide details and proof for data tabulations. Relevant literature will also be used to support the gathered findings.
