Insight POVERTY One of the major problem in our country is poverty. Everyday in our life, especially among people who really suffer hunger and sickness, is because of the poverty they encountered. Poverty is a global issue. Poverty does not have one clear definition. It is complicated, multi-faced concept. But for simple definition of it, poverty means a lack of access to basic resources including food, clean water, sanitation, education and capital. As a student, in what way you can help to our country n rapidly increasing of poverty rate? What are the causes and effects of it in our millions community. There are many causes and effects of poverty. The most obvious effect of poverty is hunger, however hunger can also be a cause of poverty. Millions of people, including millions number of children die each year as a result of hunger, and therefore poverty. Another major problem facing our country is the population growth or rapid increasing of our population. It cause the rapid use of our national resources, in addition to that. There is simply not space to accommodate all of the people living in our country. And because of it, it will cause many social problems. Also another cause of poverty in our country is unemployment in the Philippines is the unavailability of jobs provided with a growing population of about a 8 million. Millions needed jobs

and only few can sure provide one. And unemployment cause less income for the family or even just no income at all resulting poverty. As time passes by, the poverty we suffer in our country increase rapidly as population increasing. To help our country in the future, we should start by studying hard for every student and get a quality education. This will lead us for better future having a job that fit to us. If we have job, the unemployment rate will be reduce. But for last, one of the best ways to reduce poverty is to reduce behaviour that leads to poverty.

NATURE OF CALAMITIES Are you aware on our environment? What are the nature of calamities? A natural disaster which is a major adverse event resulting from the earth’s natural hazards, for example floods, tsunami, tornadoes, hurricanes or cyclones, volcanoes eruptions, earthquakes, heat waves and landslides. The causes of natural disasters are many. It can include loss of life, injuries, economic loss and environmental loss. Lightning is the primary cause of fires. Floods, which are the most common natural disaster affecting large areas here in our country. Fires, drought and weather events which exist for property damage and crops loss. Floods make an enormous impact on the environment and society. Floods destroy drainage systems in cities, causing raw sewage to spill out into bodies of water. Floods may also cause of millions of worth of damage to city, both evicting people from their homes and running businesses. These are some causes and effects of natural disaster in our environment and society. People must provide for the drainage of water. Another way of preventing floods include placing sandbags along the riverbank to serve as levelized and placing large rocks on banks to prevent erosion. And for safety, always provide portable radio and lights so in case of emergency, you can listen for updates.

INCREASING NUMBER OF CRIMES Crime is one of the major problems in our country. Crime is an action or commission that constitutes an offense that may be prosecuted by the state and punishable by law, there are illegal activities. Because of crimes rather increasing number of crimes authorities should have something to do about it. Crime happens in many forms and it has different effects. It has tremendous effects on society and the people within it as a whole. Society loses when investing in new jails rather than paying employees’ higher wages. A study proven that society pays over twice the average household income for one inmates incarceration. This means that instead of that money being invested in prevention through higher wages on better education, taxpayers pay more to keep criminals safe well and fed. Also crimes set people’s being paranoid and depressive behavior associated with the effects of crimes. There are so many ways to take control and help prevent crimes in our home, neighborhood and at our local schools. Make sure all the youth in barangay have positive ways to spend their spare time, set up neighborhood watch on a community patrol. And the most important is the building partnership with the authorities.

CORRUPTION Political corruption is one of the major problem here in our country. Over use of power by Government Officials. For illegitimate private gain, government officials use the people’s taxes they paid for their personal use only. These is the general problem in our country need to be eliminated. And because of this illegal activities, people suffer especially among living in squatter’s area suffered from it. In our economic status, in the private sectors, corruption also increases the cost of the business of through the price of illicit payments themselves. It also generates economic distortions in the public sector, by diverting public investments into capital projects where bribes and kickbacks are more plentiful. These publics and privates evil activities represented by corruption affects individuals, companies, fields of activity, national activities as well as the global one. Although there are some organizations or groups of people still fighting against corruption, in order to achieve the desired outcomes. In the fight against it, they still need to established the factors that generate the corrupt behavior of an individual especially government officials. For me, as a student and youth of our country, I still want to suggest that in every election always choose to have responsible people that someday may become a responsible leader.

JUVENILE DELINQUENCY Another tremendous problem here in our country is the juvenile delinquency. These illegal activities and behavior of youth or by children causes and correlates of crimes. Typically, it is a person who is typically under the age of 18 and commits an act that otherwise would have been charged as crime. We are constantly reminded that there are problems with juvenile violence. There are several factors that causes to youth to involve in this delinquency. First, is the peer influences, which can be enormous factor in the development of delinquent behavior. Second is the family influence. There are parents who give poor directions to children, fail to structure their behavior and do not reward or punish appropriately. Children of divorced parents often face emotional conflicts regarding their allegiance to either one or both of their parents. They also face difficulty in understanding their parents. For me, the best way to solve this problem is that our government should set standards or ban the poor quality problems of televisions and films. Schools, communities and families have to strengthen the education of the children and help them to cultivate right ways and ideas of life.
