Installation of Casing Head Housing (slip-on weld)

Run and cut the conductor(s) at the required elevation. The top face of the conductor should be flat and have internal and external sharp edges removed.

Drill out for surface casing.

Run the surface casing string to depth.

4

Centralise casing within the conductor and cement the casing in the conventional manner.

5

Cut off the surface casing to suit elevations.

6

Grind and dress casing, ensure top of casing stub is clean and level.

7

Lift base plate over casing stub and land off on conductor.(Optional).

8

Lift housing and lower over casing stub. Check that the outlet orientation conforms to site requirements.

9

Weld casing head housing to surface casing (One external weld & test).

10 Install lockdown flange and BOP stack to top of casing head housing.

If required run 2 stands of heavy weight pipe into hole.

2

Make up combination tool on to heavy weight drill pipe with seal lowermost and install landing joint.

3

Ensure the lockscrews in the lockdown flange are fully retracted.

4

Lower B.O.P. tester into the housing, through the B.O.P. stack and riser and land on the 45o shoulder in casing head housing.

5

Fill stack full of water and close pipe rams around handling joint.

6

Apply test pressure to stack and hold for required hold period and open outlets. Note : Maximum test pressure equals maximum working pressure of the lowest rated item in the system.

7

Release pressure and retract B.O.P. rams.

8

Upon completion of test, retrieve tester.

Installation of Wear Bushing (Combination Tool)

Make up combination tool onto handling joint. Avoid tonging on seal area.

Insert the combination tool into the bowl protector. Rotate tool 90o clockwise to fully latch into bowl protector. Note : Ensure the lockscrews are fully retracted in lockdown flange.

Lower bowl protector through the B.O.P. stack and riser into the housing and land off on the 45o shoulder.

4

Lockdown bowl protector in place by engaging the two lockscrews into the recess of the bowl protector.

5

Rotate running tool anti-clockwise a minimum of 90o to disengage from the bowl protector. Retrieve running tool vertically.

6

Drill out for casing string.

Retrieval of Bowl Protector Note: The bowl protector lockscrews in the housing must be fully retracted from the bore of the housing prior to removal of bowl protector. 1

Lower running tool through B.O.P. stack and riser and land on bowl protector. Slowly rotate tool clockwise until it drops into retrieval slot.

Continue rotating the tool clockwise approx. 90o until it is fully engaged.

3

Ensure lockscrews are fully retracted.

Retrieve bowl protector and running tool.

Make-up running tool to 9.5/8” casing landing joint. Note : It is recommended that a centraliser be run below the casing hanger.

Make-up casing hanger running tool to casing hanger with coarse LH stub acme thread.

Run specified casing to depth.

4

Make up casing hanger and running tool to last joint of casing.

5

Run casing hanger through riser and land on 45° shoulder in casing head housing.

6

Cement in casing, taking cement returns through the lower outlets.

7

Remove running tool (RH turn) and retrieve.

8

Run flushing tool to clear outlets.

Note : If it is a requirement to test casing hanger seals prior to cementing, please proceed as follows. 1

Back off casing hanger running tool.

Test as installation 9.5/8” casing hanger seal test tool (page 11).

3

Re-install casing hanger running tool and cement per standard procedure.

If required run 2 stands of heavy weight drill pipe into hole.

Make up combination tool onto heavy weight drill pipe with seal lowermost and install landing joint, remove blanking plug.

3

Ensure the lockscrews in the lockdown flange and fully retracted.

4

Lower B.O.P. tester into the housing, through the B.O.P. stack and riser and land on the 45o shoulder in 9.5/8” casing hanger.

5

Close annulus gate valve.

6

Close pipe rams, apply test pressure and hold for required hold period monitoring any pressure drop.

7

Release pressure.

Upon completion of test, retrieve tester.

Cement casing hanger as per normal completion.

Make up combination tool onto handling joint. Avoid tonging on seal area.

Installation of 11” nom Tubing Hanger

Slide split lockdown ring installation tool over hanger body and attach to split lockdown ring.

Make-up tubing hanger running tool to handling joint.

3

Run tubing string (c/w control line(s)). (tubing hanger can be run with one or more control lines).

4

Make up tubing hanger to last joint of tubing.

5

Spool off enough control line(s) to pass through the hanger plus additional length for termination through tubing head adaptor (approx. 8-10ft).

6

Insert control line(s) through port in the tubing hanger and make-up compression fittings top and bottom of exit points.

7

Collapse the split lockdown ring until O/D of ring is flush or below O/D of tubing hanger body using installation tool.

8

Lift running tool above tubing hanger and feed contol line through dedicated ports through running tool.

9

Re-attach the spooled control line to the control line exiting through the running tool.

10 Slowly lower running tool onto the tubing hanger and make-up with the LH stub acme running thread. Ensure the outer sleeve anti rotation pins are engaged correctly in their respective slots in the tubing hanger. Continue to make-up running tool until outer sleeve contacts and retains the split lockdown ring. 11 Dis-engage and remove split lockdown ring over running tool and handling joint. 12 Pressurise control line(s) as required for running. 13 Slowly lower tubing hanger through BOP stack and land off in 9.5/8” casing hanger on 45° shoulder. 14 Bleed off control line pressure. 15 Slowly back off running tool (approx. 3 turns) to allow split lockdown ring to expand and engage lockdown groove in the casing hanger.

16 To confirm expansion of the split lockdown ring, an overpull of 20,000 lbs plus tubing string weight can be applied to the running tool at this stage. (This must not exceed hang-off weight of 9.5/8” casing hanger). 17 Install two-way check valve into tubing hanger through landing string. 18 Back-off tubing hanger running tool and retrieve vertically. 19 Nipple down BOP stack and lockdown flange.

Remove the control line exit unit from tubing head adaptor.

Lift and suspend tubing head adaptor over casing head housing.

3

Install ring gasket to top of casing head flange connection.

Wrap control line around tubing hanger neck and feed through control line exit port in tubing head adaptor.

Lower tubing head adaptor slowly over tubing hanger neck & make-up flange connection.

6

Cut control line to length and install control line exit nipple.

7

Pressure test flanged connection.

8

Install Xmas Tree.

EMERGENCY COMPLETIONS

Installation of Type ‘SB’ Automatic Casing Hanger 1

Run casing to depth.

Ensure there is no collar inside the casing head housing, cement the casing in the conventional manner maintaining concentricity. Open outlet valves in housing and wash out housing, riser and B.O.P. stack with water. Close the outlet valves.

Lift the B.O.P. stack and examine bowl prep for damage or build up of mud or debris. Thoroughly clean before continuing.

4

Centralise casing and pull tension (15,000 lbs min. required to set slips).

5

Remove both latch screws, one on each side on hanger.

6

Place hanger around casing – set it on boards over casing head (or rotary).

7

Replace both latch screws securely.

8

Loosen the four slip retainer screws on O.D. of slip bowl one turn. These screws hold slips in retracted position in bowl.

9

Lower hanger into position in casing head.

10 Release tension slowly in casing to set slips and packoff automatically. 11 Cut off the casing above the top face of the casing housing. Chamfer the O.D. and bore and remove all burrs from the casing in the area over which the crossover seal must pass. 12 Set down B.O.P. stack/riser. NOTE: The hanger can also be run through preventers on soft line if required.

Thoroughly clean the ring groove in the housing and ring grooves and seal bore in the casing spool.

Ensure correct orientation of the outlets, lower the spool over the casing stub engaging casing ‘T’ type seal and make-up the connection.

Make-up B.O.P. stack on top connection of the tubing spool.

Test ‘T’ seal by use of cup tester.
