All of the ingredients listed for the recipes in this book are raw and/or live organic ingredients, with that said, please note that when I refer to any ingredient I imply it to be raw and/or live organic. This clear expression of ingredients keeps the recipes fresh looking and easy to read. Also, since using smoothies in your food plan is optimally about having great health and clarity, using certified organic or home grown ingredients where no pesticides or herbicides are used is the best option. If you are not accustomed to obtaining or eating organic foods, please do not let that stop you. Using raw/live smoothies as an integral part of your food intake is the essential goal and you can make the transition to organic soon enough as you reach even greater clarity about what goes into your body. All the equipment necessary to make these smoothies is a blender. Even an inexpensive, lowpowered blender is enough. Just be sure to add the ingredients slowly so as not to jam the blades.

I have researched and included some nutritional data for a variety of products used in these smoothies. If not specifically otherwise noted, I used data found on the Self Nutrition Data web site and Wikipedia. Please use your own judgment and criteria when deciding what to eat and what’s best for your own personal system and well being. This information is solely for informational purposes.

This recipe is a great tasting n stand-by recipe. This is one you ca

remember easily and put together at it quickly. And I should also mention th - nana tastes GREAT! The strawberry ba

ent you together and get the live nourishm t need to feed your cells with a grea tasting, easy to prepare smoothie.

This recipe can easily be altered to incorporate the ingredients that you will find, in time, that you’ll keep around regularly. For those of us that would include romaine lettuce and spinach and you can use either one in the recipe with equal success. We almost always have bananas, and frozen organic strawberries in the freezer. These (staples) make this an easy smoothie to make at any time without a whole lot of thought. I put golden raisins in this one to increase the sweetness factor but you can eliminate them or add regular raisins or a couple of dates or prunes according to your sweetness preference or available dried fruit.

An Easy Tasty Way to Begin! 1/4 cup Almonds 1/4 cup Flax Seeds 1/4 cup Golden Raisins 8-10 ounces Fresh or Frozen Strawberries 1 1/2 Banana 2 cups Spinach Spring Water and Ice Grind almonds and flax seed in a dry blender at highest speed until finely chopped, add raisins and blend again until well mixed. Add fruit and spinach. Add water to allow ingredients to actually begin blending - then add water to desired consistency. Blend in ice to chill to desired temp. Enjoy! Makes approximately 32 – 48 ounces. Adjust quantities for desired amount!

Healthy and Hearty Purple Variation 2 Tbsp Chia Seeds 2 Tbsp Flax Seeds 10 ounces Frozen Strawberries 8-10 leaves Purple Kale 1 Banana 1/2 cup Organic Raisins Spring Water Ice to Chill Place both seeds in a dry blender. Grind to desired texture. Add raisins *{Please note that if you are using a regular blender and not a Vitamix or other high speed power house blender, add raisins slowly after grinding the seeds to chop them to desired texture. If you are using a big power blender then you can add the raisins along with the remaining ingredients.} Add berries, purple kale and banana. Add water to begin the blending and then additionally to obtain your desired consistency. Blend in ice as desired to chill. Some notes 1. Seeds can be left whole for a chew factor in your smoothie if you like. 2. Fine powder grinding of seeds can make smoothie a little paste-like, so try your first sample with less grind then try some other variations to see what you like best. 3. Chia seeds will turn gel-like in moisture after a short time. Know that this is normal and actually a desirable characteristic of the seed.

I love Raw Smoothies and recommend that every smoothie lover and health enthusiast has a copy in their kitchen for daily inspiration, support and deliciousness. — Karen Knowler, “The Raw Food Coach”, www.TheRawFoodCoach.com Bill’s book is written in such a sincere, kind, and enthusiastic manner, I felt his smiling face accompanying me all the way through. The recipes are simple and innovative, suitable for any budget and taste, especially for athletic men. The beautiful layout helps to remember favorite recipes. Enjoyable to read and to taste! — Victoria Boutenko, author of Green for Life and Green Smoothie Revolution I was thinking to myself about my parent’s conversion to a raw diet and how much weight they had lost since they began in 2009. I asked them recently, “How much skinnier do you want to get?" My father responded it’s not about weight really; I want to live as healthy and as long as possible! That statement impacted me personally to my core and I really got that I want that too. I want to enjoy myself and my children's lives for as long as I possibly can and live free of disease. And so, with that inspired thought, I decided to convert my family to organic. It has made such a noticeable difference in our lives. Thanks! — Victoria 30, Fairfield The raw smoothie-organic food conversation has assisted me in supercharging my life. Not only have I changed what I eat, lost weight and feel better, I have taken my health and well being to a level I didn’t even know was possible. Adding in an exercise regime that I love along with my new food plan has changed my body and my life and uncovered a new me. — Drew 26, Windsor
