about cbs training

About CBS training introduction

The Centre for Business Solutions and Training (CBS Training) is the corporate training section of the Business and Management Portfolio at The Central Institute of Technology (previously Central TAFE). We have been providing highly successful customised training solutions and public courses to our clients since 1998. (National Provider No. 1988). Our vision is to establish productive partnerships with our clients, by providing a suite of services such as workforce development planning, Training Needs Analysis (TNA), auspicing and partnerships as a Registered Training Organisation (RTO). Our comprehensive training products include accredited and non- accredited, customised and public courses, Traineeships, Work-based Training, and Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL). Our services are provided by professional Learning and Development Consultants and can be tailored to meet the specific requirements of your organisation.

NATIONALLY RECOGNITED UNITS AND QUALIFICATIONS As part of an RTO, CBS Training offers courses comprising individual units, skill sets or whole qualifications that are nationally recognised. Skills and competencies gained from attending nationally recognised courses are fully transferable from position to position and from state to state in Australia.

TRAINING NEEDS ANALYSIS (TNA) A Training Needs Analysis service provided by CBS Training can identify learning requirements so that your training is highly targeted and represents a meaningful investment for the individual and organisation. Our Learning and Development Consultants can meet with you and outline our TNA service including:

WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT PLANNING

• Organisational Analysis – at this stage we identify the organisation’s strategic direction and goals and how these potentially impact on business operations;

CBS Training’s Learning and Development Consultants can advise your organisation on how to plan for the development of your workforce to meet current and future needs. Our holistic planning services include: • Conducting a Training Needs Analysis • Creation of a Workforce Development Plan • Working with your organisation to develop appropriate performance and improvement options • Referral to Traineeships • Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) • Work-based training • In-house workshops • Customised programs • Public training courses • Online and remote training options • Quality assurance of your own training programs

2

• Operational Analysis – the organisation’s strategic direction and the changes required for the business operations are implemented via the organisation of jobs. • Individual Analysis - this stage is the traditional level of the TNA process, where the job incumbents or new recruits are compared to the identified job requirements and any skills gaps are identified. • Solutions - Once the gap between the incumbent’s skills and the job requirement are identified CBS Training will be able to advise you on implementing a workforce development plan.

about cbs training

RECOGNITION OF PRIOR LEARNING (RPL) Recognition of Prior Learning is the process whereby you can have your skills formally acknowledged for Nationally Recognised units or qualifications, irrespective of where or how they were acquired.

Investment

The Benefits of Customised Training:

The charge for RPL application covers the administrative processing and assessment of your application. This fee varies depending on the number of units you apply for. Please contact CBS Training for specific prices.

• Our Learning and Development Consultants have extensive experience in training and can ensure your organisation maximises its return on investment.

CBS Training recognises that many people acquire skills not only through formal education and training but also through informal training or work and life experience. Work/life experience can refer to paid or unpaid work, involvement with a home business, community organisations, hobbies or similar.

CUSTOMISED PROGRAMS Combining experience and innovation, CBS Training offers customised training programs to suit individual organisational requirements delivered by our professional Learning and Development Consultants. We assist organisations and their future development by providing customised training including: multiple delivery options (e.g. face-to-face workshops, online, self-paced and onthe-job learning), tailoring course content and assessments, and providing training management services that can be specifically tailored to the client’s educational needs. This team effort is made possible through our access to the vast resources of The Central Institute of Technology and CBS Training’s specialist industry consultants.

Who can apply and how? Anyone can apply for RPL. If you think that you have already gained the skills required for a Nationally Recognised unit or an entire qualification detailed in this portfolio then you should consider applying for RPL. A successful RPL application means that you can be recognised as already competent for parts or the whole of a Nationally Recognised qualification. Recognition of Prior Learning Process If you would like to take advantage of our RPL process please contact the staff at CBS Training. The process of a successful RPL application includes:

• Customised training can be linked to your organisation’s strategic direction, and can incorporate customised case studies and activities that are tailored to your organisation’s day-to-day work environment. • Our training is provided by qualified consultants who demonstrate innovative adult learning strategies and are able to relate to your organisation’s and industry’s needs. • Support is provided throughout the service delivery, from identifying your organisation’s and participants’ requirements, coordination of training and assessment services, coaching and mentoring to aid participants with assessment demands and providing post course feedback.

Our Learning and Development Consultants will work closely with your organisation and develop an implementation plan including detailed stages and a continuous improvement process.

1. The candidate meets/communicates with the RPL Coordinator who will outline the RPL process and identify applicable evidence. 2. The candidate gathers evidence that meets the elements of units from the workplace or from other sources. 3. The candidate submits their evidence to the Assessor who will process the submission within four weeks. 4. The Assessor will notify the participant of their result. If the application is successful, the candidate will be issued with a Statement of Attainment or a Certificate. 3
