1.3 Installation Precautions The following precautions must be noted for hardware installation: l l l

l

l

Non-professionals should not install or debug the system unless they are instructed by professionals on the site. Installation personnel must be very careful of personal safety, and avoid accidents such as electric shocks or personal injury due to falling objects. To avoid eye injury caused by laser beams, installation personnel must not directly look at the cross-section of any optical fiber or the socket of an optical terminal during the installation of optical fibers. Replacing any part or a device might result in unexpected dangers. Therefore, replacement of any part or a device can be implemented only after authorization is acquired. To ensure your safety, contact ZTE Corporation if you have any question.

Cable Installation Table of Contents Cable Installation Requirements .................................................................................3-1 Installing the Protective Grounding Cable ...................................................................3-2 Installing the Power Cable..........................................................................................3-3 Installing the Ethernet Cable.......................................................................................3-5 Installing the Optical Fiber ..........................................................................................3-7 Installing the XPIC Cross-Connect Cables (Optional) .................................................3-8

3.1 Cable Installation Requirements The following lists the cable installation requirements: l

l l l

l l l

l

l

In the equipment room where support and static floor are installed, all cables can be routed in downward cabling mode, that is, cables are routed from the in-between floor or a cable trough. If cables are routed in upward cabling mode, a cable rack must be paved above the cabinet, and cables are routed through the cable rack. Before leading the outdoor cable into the equipment room, a waterproof bend must be made. The cable layout position must be designed in advance, and all cables must be in good condition and routed in order. External cables include the power cable, tail fiber, trunk cable, and other signal cables. Cables in the cable rack must be bundled by category, and cannot be crossed. The cables must be fixed by cable ties, with a spacing of 1 m – 1.5 m between each other. All cables must not be spiral. Cable bendings must be smooth and round, and the minimum bending radius is not less than 60 mm. Cables must be bundled tidily and straightly, with appropriate tension and even spacing between cable ties. The surplus cable part must be cut off, leaving no sharp edge. Cables routed in a cable trough can be loose, but must be straight and not crossed, and the cables cannot go beyond the cable trough. Cables must be bundled at the cable trough's entry/exit and where cables are bent. The trunk cables that are routed from the cabinet to the relay rack cannot be pulled tightly, and the extra cables should not be cut off. Cables routed in a cable trough or on the raised floor must be bundled separately, and must be straight and not crossed. After being routed, the cables must be tidy and in good condition, and sufficient margin should be reserved as required.

l

l

Cables must be pasted with labels, including project user cable label, IF cable label, fiber cable label, and power cable label. A label is pasted 2 cm from the cable end. It specifies the direction of the two ends of the cable: cabinet No. + board No. + socket No. The cable routing must facilitate maintenance and future expansion.

3.2 Installing the Protective Grounding Cable This procedure describes how to install the protective grounding cable. The cross-sectional area of the protective grounding cable is 16 mm2. The length of the protective grounding cable is not fixed upon delivery. Installation personnel should make the terminals at the two ends in accordance with the actual condition.

Steps 1. In accordance with the distance to the grounding point, cut the protective grounding cable and crimp the terminals. 2. Fix one terminal of the grounding cable on the grounding screw of the ZXMW NR8950, see Figure 3-1. Figure 3-1 Connecting the Protective Grounding Cable

3. Connect the other end of the protective grounding cable to the grounding busbar of the metal tower, and crimp the terminals in accordance with the grounding busbar structure and size.

3.3 Installing the Power Cable This procedure describes how to install the power cable.

Prerequisite l l

The protective grounding cable is installed. The power switch on the power box that connects the power supply of the ZXMW NR8950 is turned off.

Steps 1. Cut a bared power cable of a certain length as planned. 2. Install the round power cable plug to the bared power cable, see Figure 3-2. Figure 3-2 Installing the Power Cable Plug

3. Insert the cable into the terminal hole and fix the cable with screws, see Figure 3-3.

C.1 Adjusting the Polarization Mode of an Antenna This procedure describes how to adjust the polarization mode of an antenna.

Context A feeder provides two polarization modes: l

Vertical polarization (see Figure C-1) The polarization arrow on the feeder is aligned with the mark "V" on the antenna.

C.2 Adjusting the Antenna Azimuth This procedure describes how to adjust the antenna azimuth.

Context l l

l

The antenna azimuth can be finely adjusted in a range of ±15°. If this range is not big enough for actual applications, users can change the position of the anti-falling angle steel before adjusting the azimuth. In that case, a U-clamp must be used to fix the bracket. Figure C-4 and Figure C-5 show the installation components used for azimuth adjustment of an antenna. Figure C-5 Reinforcing Rod

1. Setting screw

2. Reinforcing rod

Steps 1. Make a coarse adjustment of the antenna azimuth. a. Remove the azimuth fine-adjustment screw and the bracket fastening bolt. b. Loosen the nut on the U-clamp and the setting screw on the reinforcing rod slightly. c.

Push the antenna or reinforcing rod gently, and adjust the antenna azimuth around the pole.

Warning! During the adjustment, make sure that the bracket does not fall from the anti-falling angle steel to avoid any accident.

2. Roughly determine the antenna azimuth visually or with a compass according to the circuit design. 3. Fasten all the components that were loosened during the adjustment. 4. Install and fasten the azimuth fine-adjustment screw and the bracket fastening bolt. – End of Steps –

C.3 Adjusting the Antenna Pitch Angle By adjusting the pitch angle of an antenna, the AOU receiving level can be adjusted. For the relationship between the AOU receiving level and the measuring voltage level, see Figure C-6.
