It is an order of the Convent Sanctorum. Their Symbol and Heraldry consists of a burning sword or a burning heretic. Their home world is known as Pereatia, a planet in the Spartus Sector. In the beginning of the order, it got all its weapons and vehicles from the forge world Stratix, though Dark Eldar raids restricted the orders efficiency to grow. The order’s fascination and devotion to fire comes from the founder’s teachings that only those who suffer the shear pain of fire can truly repent. Gladan got these ideas after she suffered horrible burns while fighting as a sister repenta. Though the rest of her life after the founding she spent her time refining the fighting tactics of the flamer, meltagun and bolter, though a savage Eldar raid on the forge world Stratix ended her life before she could complete her work on the use of those holy weapons, her work still continues in the form of battle. The order only deploys according to these tenants much like most space marines chapters follow the tenants of Gulliman. They seek redemption for their 33rd Canoness superior heresy in 210.M39. Canoness superior Adan Wallenger was found conversing and plotting against Inquisitor Marcus Jentus (Inquisitor the order was linked to) It was found they planned kill the Inquisitor by sending a team of rouge imperial guard snipers to assassinate him. But there are rumours that the young Inquisitor used his influence to remove the canoness superior because she was protesting about his use of power in the sector.

They strictly follow the trinity of bolter, melta and flamer and see the flamers as the most holy of these. Each sister bears scares of burns of which they inflict upon themselves in their attempt to gain redemption, their heroes and leaders bear so many scars that they are noticeably more vulnerable to attack. It has been known for the sisters to carry swords which have an internal tank of promethium which allow them to burn with an intense flame that inflicts more damage on the enemies of the emperor. A little know fact is that they served though out the Angevin Crusade from its beginning in 322.M39 to the end of the bleak years in 369.M39 when the war on all the fronts whittled the order down to a size that was of little use. The sisters were ordered to return to their home planet and they reluctantly did so. In 561.M40 a small group of battle sisters were sent to aid imperial forces in the Nexxas Exculpation but their ship encountered a severe warp storm that scattered them war off course close to the eye of terror. Rather than return to their home world as failures they martyred themselves in a suicidal attack on the nearest chaos bastion. Their last message told the canoness superior of that attack and the honour it would bring to the order and how they would bring the order one step closer to redemption. In 941.M40 the order assisted their order their founder came from in the second war of Armageddon. They were assigned to logistical guard. Looking after the ammunition compounds and the supply columns thus they saw very little action in the second war. But when Armageddon erupted into war again the sisters still saw little action when their help was requested. They were put to work more on suppressing any Orks remaining recaptured areas. They proved to be extremely well equipped for the job as their flamers made easy work of the orks. By 994.M40 the order was back at full strength and joined lord commissar Solar Macharius and aided him in his conquest of the western reaches. In the early centuries of the 41st millennium the sisters order grew in size to over 10,000 sisters scattered in Comandry and Preceptorys around the Segmentum Tempestus and a single Preceptory close to the eye of terror (known as the Comandry of the Martyred flame) to honour the martyr of the small battle group. In 240.M41 the Preceptory of the Martyred Flame joined the Ophidian Campaign in the Calixis sector in which though the emperor’s divine mercy saw them filled with his wrath and with it they struck down thousands of heretics while the Preceptory suffered less than 100 killed or wounded out of the 300 sisters sent to aid the campaign. In 354.M41 5600 sister of the order, now at strength of 15,000, deployed to aid imperial forces in the fight against Tyranids. In a matter of months the battle force has been depleted down to less than 100 sisters as the sisters are untrained to deal with the scenarios that appear in the battle against tyranids.
