Objectives
At the end of the discussion, the students are expected to: a. Calculate the number of game using the formula in single elimination. b. Illustrate on how to plot the number of games. c. Appreciate the importance of diagramming for the purpose of proper scheduling of games using single elimination in tournament. II.
Motivation - “Bato-Bato Pick”/ “Jack and Poy” The teacher will group the students into 4 and each group will choose a 1 representative to play the game. The mechanics of the game is that each representative will compete to another group representative and who ever will be the winner can play to the next round until there is one left and they will be the champion.
B. Presentation/ Lesson Proper
Single Elimination is a type of tournament determines the winners by eliminating the loser in every match until there is one team left. Best use: when the number of entries is large, when the time is short, and when the number of playing venue is limited. Rules: Compute the number of games using the formula in single elimination type of tournament. FORMULA: G=N-1 Compute the number of byes using the formula in single elimination. FORMULA: Bye= P2- N Plot Step 1 Assign letters to the participating teams. Step 2 Underline each letters. Step 3 Pair the teams equally. Step 4 Write the game numbers. Examples: 4 teams 5 teams
C. Application The teacher will group the students into 6 groups. The teacher will give instructions about the mechanics of the game and ask the group leaders to draw lots, so to know whom the privileged of being a bye is given. Next, the teacher will let the students play using the single elimination by letting them play the 4 pics 1 word. V.

Instruction: In one whole sheet of paper, Compute and plot the number of games to the following teams: 1. 7 teams 2. 8 teams
