This LOGO! set expands the house control of LOGO! Set 9 “House Control with Master-Slave Communication” or LOGO! Set 10 “House Control with Touch Panel” by a weather station with a LOGO! 8 and a Basic Panel.

In order to avoid property damage and personal injury it is absolutely necessary to observe the precautions and warnings from LOGO! In the automation solution, a weather station is connected to the LOGO! Set 9 / Set 10 hardware setup. The weather station consists of a LOGO! 8 (1), a LOGO! power supply (3), a Compact Switch module (2) and a SIMATIC HMI KTP400 Basic Panel (4). The SIMATIC HMI KTP400 Basic Panel will be called “KTP400”.

3.1

Weather sensors

3.1.1

Wind sensor The measured values from the wind sensor are processed in the LOGO! program “68585346_LOGO!_Set11_LOGO!_8.lsc” in the “Blinds” program part. In automatic mode, all blinds are raised in the event of “strong” wind via function block “wind” (B183/analog threshold trigger).

For protecting the blinds, “strong wind” (here, 20 km/h) is given functional priority over high solar irradiation (here, 20 kLux) and lowering via weekly timers. The function block “wind” can be called up in parameter assignment mode with the respective block name using the LOGO! display or LOGO! TDE. This makes it possible to adjust the threshold values for the wind speed for opening the blinds. When wind speeds fall below 18 km/h, the LOGO! program signals that the wind has died down and the blinds can be moved down again.

For wind velocities below the limit value (here, 18 km/h), the blinds will be raised in the morning and lowered in the evening automatically according to the set times of the weekly timers.

Light sensor The light sensor is processed in the LOGO! program in the blinds control. In automatic mode, all blinds are lowered in the event of high solar irradiation (here, 20 kLux) via function block “sun” (B184/analog threshold trigger). High solar irradiation takes priority over raising via weekly timers. Manual switching of blinds takes highest priority, even if the automatic mode is activated and high solar irradiation occurs. The function block “sun” can be called up in parameter assignment mode with the respective block name using the LOGO! display or LOGO! TDE. This makes it possible to adjust the threshold values for sun irradiation for closing the blinds.

3.1.3

Twilight sensor The twilight sensor is processed in the LOGO! program in the lighting control. In automatic mode, all exterior lights are automatically switched off at sunrise (> 10 lux) and switched on at dusk (< 10 lux) via function block “twilight” (B187/analog threshold trigger). Manual switching of lights takes highest priority, even if the automatic mode is activated. The function block “twilight” can be called up in parameter assignment mode with the respective block name using the LOGO! display or LOGO! TDE. This makes it possible to individually adjust the threshold value for automatic switching off and on of the lighting.

Rain sensor The rain sensor is processed in the LOGO! program in the program parts garden watering and roof hatch.

In automatic mode, if it does not rain, the garden watering is switched on automatically in the morning at 09:00 a.m. and in the evening at 08:00 p.m. for 10 minutes via the function block “watering” (B104/Weekly Timer). If automatic mode for the roof hatch has been activated, it will automatically close when it rains. If it does not rain and the temperature is high, the roof hatch will open. The function block “watering” can be called up in parameter assignment mode with the respective block name using the LOGO! display or LOGO! TDE. This makes it possible to adjust days and times in the weekly timer for automatic garden watering.

3.1.5

Temperature sensor The temperature sensor is processed in the LOGO! program in the program part roof hatch. In automatic mode, the roof hatch is opened via function block “auto roof” (B105) at high temperature (here, >28 °C) and closed at low temperature (here, 22 °C outside temperature. The function block “temp out” can be called up in parameter assignment mode with the respective block name using the LOGO! display or LOGO! TDE. This makes it possible to individually adjust the threshold value for automatic switching off of the heating.

3.2

Configuration in network mode From LOGO! Soft Comfort V8 onwards, you are now able to interconnect several LOGO! base modules with each other and with other devices (WinCC and S7CPUs) in the new network view. Communication between the devices will be configured automatically. In addition, it is possible to display three programs at once and to drag&drop signals from one program to the other.

Now click on the symbol for dividing the diagram editor in two windows in order that an additional window in the diagram editor opens.

Then, click on the bar with the name of one of the two switching programs and drag the diagram into the second window that has opened in the diagram editor.

Move the mouse pointer to the output connection of one of the function blocks you want to connect and keep holding the mouse button down.

Press “Network interface” to open the dialog for changing the network settings. Make your choice between automatic IP address assignment via “DHCP” and manual IP address assignment. Touch the respective input fields and enter the IP address and the subnet mask with the screen keyboard, here: IP address: 192.168.1.80 Subnet mask: 255.255.255.0 Under “Ethernet parameters” in the “Mode and speed” selection field, tick “Auto Negotiation”; this automatically detects and sets the connection type and the transmission rate in the PROFINET network. Activate the “LLDP” switch to enable the operator panel to exchange information with other operator panels. In this example, “LLDP” can be activated or deactivated. Under “PROFINET” in the “Device name” field, enter a network name for your operator panel. The name must meet the following requirements: Max. four blocks with max. 63 characters each. Example: “Press1.Fender. Bodywork.Hall3” Characters from “a” to “z”, numbers “0” to “9”; special characters: “-” and ".

Click the “Transfer settings” button to open the “Transfer Settings” dialog box. Activate “Enable transfer”. Activate “Automatic” to enable automatic transfer. When automatic transfer is enabled, a transfer from the configuration PC can be started while the project is running. In this case, the current project is stopped and the transfer of the new project is carried out. After the transfer, the new project is started.

To return to the start center, press on the symbol for minimizing the window on the right side of the “Transfer Settings” dialog.

In the operating system, navigate to: “Start > Settings > Control Panel > Set PG/PC Interface”. In “Interface Parameter Assignment Used”, select “TCP/IP(Auto) -> Name of your network card or your USB Ethernet adapter” (without the yellow warning sign) for the Ethernet communication with LOGO!.  In this example: TCP/IP(Auto)->Intel(R) 82577LM Gigab. network card) Make sure that in the dropdown menu “Access Point of the Application” “S7ONLINE (STEP7) -> TCP/IP(Auto) -> Name of your network card or your USB Ethernet adapter” has been selected. Click on OK to confirm the selection.

Alternatively the “Interface Parameter Assignment Used” is displayed at “Control Panel -> Set PG/PC Interface” for certain operating systems. As in the previous step 2, also select the interface here and make sure that “Access Point of the Application” “S7ONLINE (STEP7) -> TCP/IP(Auto) -> Name of your network card or your USB Ethernet adapter” has been selected in the drop-down list. Click on OK to confirm the selection.

Note

When using the application example with your PC, please make sure the KTP400 or KTP700 is not connected with the other modules of the application example (LOGO! modules, PC, etc.). It is recommended not to connect the Basic Panel, if you already use your PC as a Basic Panel with the WinCC simulation.

For operating the application example with the PC, the same basic settings (chapter 4.3.1) in the WinCC project apply as for direct operation with the Basic Panel. The only difference is that you do not press the “Load” button, but the “Start simulation” button. Table 5-2
