Introduction 1.1 System Types

1.1

System Types

SICAM PAS can be operated in two different configurations: 

SICAM PAS configured as a stand-alone system runs completely on a stand-alone computer. The SICAM PAS Full Server, the SICAM PAS data distribution system, the RDBMS and the user interface are located on this computer. Protocol drivers and additional SICAM PAS components can also reside on this computer.

SICAM PAS configured as a distributed system runs on several computers. The following rules apply in this configuration: 

One of these computers is used as the SICAM PAS Full Server . The SICAM PAS data distribution system, the Relational Database Management System (RDBMS) and the user interface are located on this computer. Protocol drivers and certain other applications can also reside on this computer. Every distributed SICAM PAS configuration must have exactly one SICAM PAS Full Server.

The other computers in this configuration are operated as Device Interface Processors (DIPs). The protocol drivers and in some cases also the user interface reside on these computers.

Both SICAM PAS types are installed using the same installation routine. The installation process of these two SICAM PAS types is almost identical. During the installation, you only need to specify whether the computer is to be operated as a stand-alone system/SICAM PAS Full Server or as a Device Interface Processor. It is nevertheless essential to understand which type of system you are installing.

Note To install a distributed SICAM PAS system, it is i mportant to install the SICAM PAS Full Server before any other Device Interface Processor and to ensure that the SICAM PAS Full Server is connected to the network and operational.

Introduction 1.2 Installation Variants

1.2

Installation Variants

The following SICAM PCC variants can be installed: 

demo version and

licensed version

The SICAM PAS installation CD holds all files relating to the software components. During the installation process, you must specify whether a licensed version or a demo version is to be installed. Demo version The Demo mode does not require a dongle and optional features do not need to be enabled via passwords. SICAM PAS is installed as a stand-alone system (see Chapter 1.1) in the demo version. In Demo mode, SICAM PAS runs approximately three hours. After three hours, all protocol drives and the central server stop, but the configuration manager still runs. Each time you reboot your computer, the optional features require another three hours. Be aware of the following additional restrictions: 

Projects created in the demo version cannot be used in the full version.

Distributed SICAM PAS functions (i. e. operation of several computers in one single SICAM PAS system) are not supported by the demo version.

Licensed version The Licensed mode does not require a dongle. Optional features can be enabled by means of passwords. In the licensed version, SICAM PAS can be installed and operated both as a stand-alone system and as a distributed system (see Chapter 1.1).

Installation Requirements 2.1 Configuring the Windows Network Operation

2.1

Configuring the Windows Network Operation

Be aware of the items mentioned below when operating SICAM PAS. TCP/IP must be installed in every case, i. e. even in a stand-alone system.

16

Your com puter mu st be assign ed a valid TCP/IP name. Be aware that TCP/IP name conventions are stricter than Windows conventions. The most common mistake in selecting host names is assigning a name which includes one or more blanks or special characters. For example, My PC is a valid name under Windows. Due to the blank included, it cannot be used with TCP/IP.

TCP/IP must b e confi gured befo re the SICAM PAS inst allation . SICAM PAS cannot be installed properly without a configured TCP/IP. The use of an Ethernet adapter facilitates the configuration of TCP/IP.

Power saving features: Many hardware components have so-called power saving features installed, usually as part of the BIOS on the computer. These features slow down or stop the system CPU during a period of inactivity. Additionally, the screen display enters the save mode, the hard disk stops rotating, etc. As almost no industrial standards are available for these features, they may vary significantly depending on the individual manufacturer and model. For this reason, we cannot warrant that the SICAM PAS software runs without any problems if these features have been enabled.

The configuration may require some additional steps, especially if you want to operate SICAM PAS in a network with other computers. These steps also include the creation of an LMHOSTS file (for the assignment of IP addresses to computer names), the configuration of an ftp server, the DNS (Domain Name Services) configuration, etc. As they are not required for the operation of SICAM PAS, they are not described in the present manual - please refer to the corresponding Windows documents.

For a distributed SICAM PAS system, the Windows network interfacing must be configured on each computer in the system.

For a remote computer, it is recommended to configure Windows on the SICAM PAS computer in such a way as to ensure that the computer reboots automatically after a failure. Refer to your Windows documentation for instructions.

Further Requirements

The following prerequisites must be met for the installation of the SICAM PAS software: 

You must be logged on as a user with administrator rights.

To install SICAM PAS and SICAM PAS CC on the same computer, both components must be installed in Version V6.00.

Install the TCP/IP network interfacing for Windows before installing SICAM PAS. For more detailed information on the installation of the network interfacing for Windows, refer to the Windows documentation.

To configure SICAM PAS for the data exchange with PROFIBUS DP/FMS devices, install the PROFIBUS interface card (CP5613/14) and the related software components before installing SICAM PAS.

If SICAM PAS is already installed on your computer and you want to perform a reinstallation, the system prompts you to uninstall the already installed SICAM PAS version. Uninstall the old version and reboot your computer. Your existing database is not deleted during the uninstallation process. Nevertheless it is recommended to back up your database prior to uninstallation. During a reinstallation of SICAM PAS, the system prompts you to specify whether the existing database is to be maintained or overwritten.

A Sybase SQL Anywhere 9.0 database is created within the framework of SICAM PAS installation. If an SQL Anywhere database already exists on your computer, refer to your Sybase documentation for more details on the potential effects of a reinstallation. Be aware that not all SQL Anywhere utilities are installed together with SICAM PAS.

To install a distributed SICAM PAS system, i. e. a SICAM PAS Full Server together with one or several Device Interface Processors (DIPs), the SICAM PAS Full Server must be installed first. During the installation of a DIP, the data exchange with the SICAM PAS Full Server must be possible.

SICAM PAS Features

This section describes how features can be enabled.

5.1.1

Gen er al Inf or mat io n

Software prot ection f or SICAM PAS The SICAM PAS features are distributed among several software modules, most of which are optional. To facilitate the installation of the SICAM PAS software, the delivered CD-ROM includes the software modules of the basic system (e. g. SICAM PAS main program) as well as all optional features.  A dongle is required for the installation of the basic system (licensed version). Optional features must be enabled using the correct password. These passwords are only valid for one single dongle. If you purchase several SICAM PAS licenses, you receive a separate kit including one dongle each as well as the correct passwords. The passwords relating to a dongle can only be used with this individual dongle. Store these passwords i n a safe place - you will need them again in case of a SICAM PAS reinstallation. Before the start of the SICAM PAS software components, the system checks whether the entered password matches the data stored in the dongle. During the execution of the components, the system checks at regular intervals whether the dongle is still available. If this dongle is missing or removed duri ng operation, the SICAM PAS software runs for approximately 5 minutes. Afterwards, the SICAM PAS functionality is restricted.

On the real computer (with host operating system), install SICAM PAS V6.00: On the virtual computer (with guest operating system), install SICAM PAS V5.10.  Alternatively, you can install the two SICAM PAS versions on two virtual computers.

Note Virtual computers may only be run with operating systems released for SICAM PAS (see Chapter 2.3).  As the use of special PC communications cards (CP5613/14, USB) is not supported by VMware 5.x, only the PAS UI - Confi gurati on and Feature Enabler  components can be executed. In order to ensure that the PAS UI - Operati on and Value Viewer  components and the runt ime syst em (DSI) operate properly, standard COM interfaces should be used. For the reasons menitoned above, two SICAM PAS versions should only be installed on a computer which is exclusively used for the configuration of SICAM PAS systems. Virtual computers VMware supports the following three different variants of virtual computers: 

VMware Workstatio n

VMware Server  With VMware Server virtual computers are accessed via the VMware Consol e.

VMware Player  With the VMware Player, you can only run an existing virtual computer. However, you can neither create a new virtual computer nor modify an existing one, since the VMware Player does not support these operations.

In order to be able to execute the steps described below, the VMware Workstatio n must have been installed according to the corresponding instructions.

Installing a Modem

Overview IEC 60870-5-101 is a protocol that is widely used for communication with remote terminal units. In a typical configuration, SICAM PCC is the IEC 60870-5-101 master station which communicates with a substation. This substation acts as a master for different bay devices. From the perspective of SICAM PCC, this RTU can be considered to be acting as a "proxy" for these bay devices.

In such a configuration, the substation can be communicate with SICAM PAS through a serial connection (COM port) using either a dedicated (leased) telephone line or a dial-up connection (via modem). If a modem connection is used, the modem must have been properly installed on the SICAM PCC station computer. Modems can be installed via the Windows Control Panel. The following modems can be used: 

ISDN modem (INSYS ISDN for miniRTU)

ISDN card (e. g. AVM ISDN FRITZ! CARD PCI V2.0)

Analog modem (INSYS modem 336 for miniRTU)

Selecting a modem

Select your modem (ISDN or analog modem) from the Install New Modem window.

Note For the modem link to work properly, the miniRTU must be configured in such a way that the INSYS modem uses the same data transmission protocol as the modem on the SICAM PCC computer. In the example above, the data protocol is V.110. In this case, the configuration string e.g. of an ISDN modem would be: ATE0&KS0=1&C1&D2V1X0B0N4&WZ (the most important value is B0, since it defines the type of protocol). The configuration string must be modified accordingly if an analog modem is used (refer to the operating instructions of the analog modem). The following applies for the selection of the protocol: Connect two ISDN modems based on the X.75 protocol. In the configuration string of the INSYS ISDN TA modem, the B0 value changes to B10. Connect an ISDN modem to a GSM modem based on the V.110 protocol.

Using an ISDN card  An ISDN card (e. g. AVM ISDN FRITZ! CARD PCI V2.0) can be used as an alternative to a modem. To use the ISDN card with SICAM PAS, the AVM ISDN CAPI port driver must be installed. The installation of the driver and of the virtual modem is described in detail in the ISDN card installation manual of the corresponding manufacturer. When installing the driver, you can select from numerous installable virtual modems. To use it under SICAM PAS, it is recommended to install modems working with the X.75 protocol, such as: 

 AVM ISDN - ISDN (X.75)

 AVM ISDN Mailbox (X.75)

The virtual modems can be selected from the Modem Parameters dialog after their installation in order to use them under SICAM PAS.

Note If the ISDN card is also used by other programs, these programs must be deactivated before using the card for SICAM PAS. Otherwise, these programs may cause communication problems.

Time Synchronization

Time Synchronization

Overview Time information within a SICAM PAS system can be synchronized as follows: 

via a FG6039GPS GPS time signal receiver manufactured by Hopf and a PCI card for the SICAM PAS computer

via an (S)NTP timer (e. g. SICLOCK): an external device is connected to the SICAM PAS computer via Ethernet

via the telecontrol connection of the control center: This time synchronization method is not relevant for SICAM PAS CC.

In a SICAM PAS system, time settings are synchronized based on theNetwork Time Protocol (NTP) and using the related Network Time Protocol Daemon (NTPD) software. Under a Windows operating system, the NTPD service runs in the background. For the installation of SICAM PAS, it is referred to as the Network Time Protocol Service. It is configured by means of the ntp.conf  ASCII file. This configuration file can be edited using a text editor (e. g. Notepad). It is located in the following directory: C:\WINNT\system32\drivers\etc\ . The NTPD is automatically installed together with SICAM PAS/SICAM PAS CC. It is activated upon a restart of the computer. In a SICAM PAS system, several NTPDs are simultaneously active (e. g. on the external radio clock, the SICAM PAS computer and the SICAM PAS CC computer). An NTPD can be configured as a server or as a client. Upon the request of a client, the server communicates its time information to the client. Based on NTP, a precision of approximately 0.1 milliseconds can be achieved under a Windows operating system. In order to achieve this high level of precision, the NTPDs of the system must perform extensive calculations. This process can take several hours after the system start. If the current time master fails, the NTPDs use the determined time data in order to keep an utmost level of time precision for as long as possible. More detailed information on the Network Time Protocol (NTP) is available on the Internet via the following link: http://www.ntp.org.

Time Synchronization 6.1 Installing the Network Time Protocol Daemon

6.1

Installing the Network Time Protocol Daemon

To initialize the Hopf6039 card, the related software must be installed as soon as the card has been inserted. This software component is installed together with a Network Time Pro toco l Daemon (NTPD). The NTPD is automatically installed together with SICAM PAS/SICAM PAS CC. This NTPD allows for even more precise time synchronization than the one provided by Hopf. To install a Hopf6039 card, we therefore recommend to proceed as follows: •

Insert the Hopf6039 card in the computer.

Next, install the software for your Hopf6039 card. The software is required for the initialization of the card.

Uninstall the NTPD (see below).

Install SICAM PAS/SICAM PAS CC. The NTPD delivered with SICAM PAS/SICAM PAS CC is also in stalled.

Uninstalling NTPD To uninstall the Network Time Protocol Daemon: •

Click Start > Setti ngs > Contro l Panel.

Double-click Ad mini strat iv e Too ls. The Ad mi ni st rat ive Too ls window opens.

Double-click Services. The Services window opens.

Right-click on Network Time Protocol and

select Exit from the context menu in order to exit the service.

Select Start > Run.

Enter ...\instsrv remove and click OK to uninstall the service.

Time Synchronization 6.2 Network Time Protocol Daemon

6.2

Net wo rk Time Pr ot oc ol Daemo n

For the configuration of the NTPD, knowledge about its main functions is required. Some NTPD functions and terms are illustrated below. Server, client and p eer   An NTPD can be configured as a server or as a client. The server uses the current time information received from a clock. The clients poll the time information from the server. Besides this, an NTPD can be configured as a peer . This is the case if several clocks with the same priority exist in a distributed system. The roles (server/client) of the individual NTPDs are not specifically defined for this purpose. The peers communicate amongst each other in order to determine the quality of their time signal. The NTPD of the peer with the most precise time si gnal acts as the server. Stratum, offset and dispersion Based on the Network Time Protocol, the time signal is distributed according to a defin ed hierarchical order. Time information is distributed from the top level down to the lower levels. A level is referred to as a stratum. The clock is the top level and is referred to as Stratum 0. The time server which receives its time information directly from the clock is assigned Stratum 1. The server which acts as a client of this server is assigned Stratum 2, etc. The deviation of the time information transmitted by the client clock from the time information transmitted by the server clock is referred to asoffset. The NTPD tries to keep the offset as small as possible. The offset is the most important criterion for the determination of the quality of time information. The dispersion is another criterion used for quality determination. The dispersion defines the upper limit for the deviation of the system time from the 'real' clock time. The smaller the dispersion, the higher is the quality of the time information. Quality of t ime information When determining the system time, the received time stamp is assigned aquality. The following four quality levels can be assigned:

74

High means that the system time deviates from the 'real' clock time by less than 10 milliseconds and that the quality of the time sources is sufficient for this determination. A dispersion of less than 10 milliseconds is sufficient to meet the standard requirements in the field of power automation.

Medium means that the system time deviates from the 'real' clock time by less than 2 seconds and that the quality of the time sources is sufficient for this determination. This level of precision ensures that no low-quality time stamps are produced if a switching second is inserted and the clock therefore shows a temporary deviation of ~1 second.

Lo w means that the available time information does not have the required precision and that the system must therefore be considered as 'out of synchronization'.

Unknown is assigned if the system detects that no NTP service is running at all or that the service was not able to detect a time source.

For compatibility reasons, the time stamp is assigned the ClockSync and ClockValid status bits. These bits are set depending on the quality of the time stamp: 

high The ClockSync  and ClockValid status bits are set.

medium The ClockValid status bit is set.

lo w No status bit is set.

unknown No status bit is set.

75

Time Synchronization 6.3 Clock Driver

6.3

Clock Driver

Two clock drivers are available. They were modified in such a way that they ensure proper time synchronization in the SICAM PAS system.

6.3.1

Driver for the Hopf6039 card

Shared memory clock driver

Driver for the Hopf6039 card The Hopf6039 clock is a PCI card with a DCF77 or GPS receiver. With a time precision of the clock of one millisecond, the operating system can achieve a resolution of up to one millisecond. Using the modified driver (included in the scope of delivery of SICAM PAS/SICAM PAS CC) for the Hopf6039 card, the resolution can be improved in edge polling mode. The quartz oscillator integrated in the Hopf6039 card is more stable than the osci llator of a standard PC. By combining the Hopf6039 card with NTPD, a time precision of less than one millisecond can be maintained for another two hours even if no time signal can be received (after a stabilization phase of several hours). Different modes can be set on the modified driver in order to determine the behavior of the driver in case of error (i.e. no time signal received from the clock). The driver can increase the value of the stratum and mark the clock as erroneous.  A typical line in the configuration file for aHopf6039 card provides the following type of information:

ser ver 127. 127. 39. 0 mode 53 mi npol l 2 maxpol l 6 pr ef er i bur st The mode 53 parameter must be interpreted as a bit pattern (decimal value). The tables below illustrate the significance of the bits. Table 6-1

Edge polling mode The Hopf6039 card does not support interrupts. The card has a resolution of one millisecond, but maintains the clock time with far higher precision. During the first reading of the time stamp, a statistical error of +/- 0.5 is detected; due to repeated readings until the change of the value read, this error can be reduced to 1/10th of the original value. This method allows for speedier synchronization. If Bit 4 is set, repeated reading until the value changes is activated.

Time Synchronization 6.3 Clock Driver

6.3.2

Shared Memory Clock Driver  Using a shared memory clock driver , the time in a SICAM PAS system can be synchronized based on telecontrol protocols. The ntp.conf  comprises four blocks for time synchronization via telecontrol protocols. A typical block has the following structure:

The fourth address section (0 in the example) is used to distinguish between clocks of the same type. mode mode 33 (refer to Section 6.4) is an extended mode (0x01) including the monitoring for timeout. In the fudge line, the value 1 is specified for the stratum. In a SICAM PAS system, only modes 1 and 33 can be used for time synchronization via telecontrol protocols. With mode 33, timeout monitoring is automatically included. This is the most convenient mode. When using Mode 1, the values of the minpoll and maxpoll parameters must be selected very carefully in order to match the synchronization frequency of the telecontrol center. The minpoll parameter must be set in such a way as to ensure that 2^minpoll is greater than the synchronization interval of the control center. The maxpoll parameter must also be set to this value. minpoll and maxpoll If automatic time monitoring (adaptive polling) is activated, the NTPD tries to set a polling interval within the limits selected via the minpoll and maxpoll parameters. The polling interval is increased by one step if the telecontrol protocol did not provide any value within a defined interval. If more than two values are transmitted within an interval, the polling interval is reduced by one step. If synchronization based on the telecontrol protocol fails, the polling interval increases until the maximum interval value has been reached. The clock is marked as erroneous and the polling interval is set to the minimum value in order to detect a recovery of synchronization as quickly as possible. The values for Minpoll and maxpoll must be selected in such a way as to ensure that they include the expected time synchronization interval of the telecontrol protocol. The following values can be used: minpoll = 2 (4 s); maxpoll = 10 (1024 s/17 min).

Configur ation File for NTPD

When installing SICAM PAS/SICAM PAS CC, an ntp.conf  configuration file is copied into the ...\WINNT\system32\drivers\etc  directory. Use this file to configure the NTPD (Network Time Protocol Daemon). The time servers are indicated in the configuration files of the clients. However, the clients are not indicated in the configuration files of the servers. A time client can therefore be conveniently added to a system. Only the configuration file of the new client needs to be edited. The configuration file already includes some comments on its contents. The following section provides information about important entries. For more detailed information, refer to the following web site: http://www.ntp.org. tinker panic Time information is not synchronized if the clock concerned deviates by more than 7,200 seconds from the best external clock. The NTPD stops automatically or does not start up. The Services Manager  indicates whether the NTPD has started or not. Press F5 to update the Services Manager. Set the local system time manually and start the NTPD.

driftfil e, logfile, statsdir  In these lines, you can specify the storage location of theDrift and Lo g files. To do this, write access rights are required.  Activate the logfile and statsdir  lines for error detection only. The quartz drift determined is stored in the ntp.drift file. This allows for speedier synchronization after a system start, since the clock can be set to the correct speed based on the offset value. If no writeable (and resetproof) file system is available, the drift file can be disabled. In this case, optimum synchronization can only be achieved some time (hours!) after a s ystem start.

Using the lines under local system clock, you can define the local clock as the timer. Define a high value for the stratum. The local time is used unless another, better time base is available.

In the lines under Hopf6039 receiver , you can define the use of a Hopf6039 card. 

mode With mode 53 (see Table 6-2), no time is polled from the card if it cannot receive data.

minpoll, maxpoll The time is to be polled at intervals of between4 and 64 seconds. The values of minpoll and maxpoll are the exponents from a base of 2 (22 = 4.26 = 64).

iburst The iburst parameter ensures that five values are read per second during the first poll. The internal filters enter a steady state, which ensures that synchronization can be achieved within an even shorter time.

If one Full Server and one or several DIP(s) are used, the synchronization sources can be distributed amongst the computers used (HOPF6039 on the Full Server, telecontrol protocols on the DIP). To do this, activate the peer  line. In this case, the computers must determine amongst each other which clock ti me is most suitable. Since the classical server/client relationship cannot be applied in this context, all computers involved must be configured as peers (i.e. "colleagues" with the same priority). Data is exchanged on a bidirectional basis in order to ensure that synchronization can be performed by both computers (systems).

Sample Configurations

This section illustrates typical sample configurations. It describes the distribution of time information in the system and presents the configuration files of the NTPDs.

6.5.1

In the first example, a PIC card manufactured by Hopf is used. The card is incorporated in a SICAM PAS computer (Full Server).

In the second example, the time is specified by an external radio clock. The radio clock is directly connected to the bay bus (IEC 61850).

PCI Car d as Ti mer   The FG6039GPS PCI card manufactured by Hopf is incorporated in the SICAM PAS computer (Full Server) and used as the time master of the system. Other clocks can only become time master if the PCI card fails or if its time information is of poor quality. The NTPD is active on both the SICAM PAS computer and on the SICAM PAS CC computer. On the SICAM PAS computer, it acts as the server; on the SICAM PAS CC computer, it acts as a client.

6.5.2

Exte xterna rnal Ra Radio dio Clo Clock ck as Tim Time er  For system configurations comprising an Ethernet bay bus (IEC 61850), anexternal an external radio clock (e. clock  (e. g. SICLOCK, Meinberg, Hopf) can be used as the time master on the Ethernet bay bus. If this clock fails or if the quality of the time information provided is poor, another clock available in the system becomes the time master. In the NTPD configuration files, you can define which clock is to become the new time master. The NTPD is active both on the SICAM PAS computers (Full Server and DIP) and on the SICAM PAS CC computer. The NTPD of the radio clock acts as the time server; the NTPDs of the SICAM PAS computers act as the clients.  Additionally, time information can be transmitted from the telecontrol telecontrol center.

The bay devices on the IEC 61850 bus are clients which poll time information from the radio clock. Their configuration is not described in the present document. For more detailed information on this topic, refer to the documentation of the corresponding devices.  All other bay devices connected via IEC 60870-5-103 receive receive time information from the DIP.
