Shortcut to A’ level Chemistry 3-Choices MCQ Introduction The last 10 questions for A’ level chemistry MCQ paper may put even the better student to a test. This is because by the time we are at question 30, we may already be under time pressure, feeling demoralized, and feeling fatigue. What makes the problem worse is we will have to react to THREE statements to get a single mark. If you often feel any of these symptoms or have a bad time management skills, you will have to read on.
The method I came across this method of doing the 3 choices MCQ while doodling during a chemistry lesson. This method involves using the least possible time and the least average steps to solving a 3- choice MCQ. However, this method only works for people who are confident of their first answer. Below is a diagram that pretty much summarizes the two step approach to the 3-choices MCQ.
Read Statement 3 first
If statement 3 is correct, read statement 1
If statement 1 is correct, answer is A. (1, 2, 3)
If statement 1 is wrong, answer is C (2, 3 only)
If statement 3 is wrong, read statement 2
If statement 2 is correct, answer is B (1, 2 only)
If statement 2 is wrong, answer is D. (1 only)
Basically I have done the arithmetic of the different approaches to this question and this approach has yield the least number of average steps to obtain the answer. If you have more time to spare, go ahead and prove to yourself that this would save you a few seconds if you were to consider all the 3 options.
