EMPLOYMENT CAPITAL ONE, Rolling Meadows, IL 2007 – 2015 Sr. Manager, IT Software Development Leads the software development and delivery of new credit card enhancements on existing code on a highly customized version of FirstData’s VisionPlus packaged software. Responsible for 80 million private label, Visa, MasterCard and commercial portfolio credit cards. Extensive involvement with business stake holders, merchants, account executives and all levels of IT. 

Directed the adoption of Agile (Scrum) in a mainframe environment resulting in quicker to market software solutions than conventional SDLC waterfall methodology.



Led key work-streams in evaluating core cards platform for Capital One after the purchase of the HSBC credit card business in 2012. Proposed (and implemented) several recommendations for a 2 platform enterprise solution to support Capital One’s credit card business.



Implemented two de-conversion activities of 30 million general purpose cards off the legacy HSBC platform in 6 months. Both de-conversions were completed on schedule and without any issues.



Reduced 44 offshore contract resources and reallocated the work to 7 newly hired associates and 7 new contractor resources in a 13 month period without incident or loss of critical knowledge.



Championed the aggressive hiring campaign for Capital One IT Chicago. This included prioritizing all open positions, leading the resume review committee, standardizing candidate screening criteria, coordinating recruiting job fairs, and job offer creation. I also streamlined the on-boarding of newly hired associates to get them productive several days sooner than before.



As a member of a select committee of business and IT members evaluating future credit card enhancements, I was responsible for identifying project scope, complexity, cost, feasibility, and delivery timetables.



Principle leader for production incidents for the A/R system. Streamlined the intake and prioritization of tickets resulting in a closure rate 16 days faster on average than before.

Led IT cost reduction efforts in the A/R space for 2 years and implemented over $1M of cost savings and cost avoidance.

DEPARTMENT STORE GROUP, Milwaukee, WI 1989 – 2007 Director, Information Technology Software Development 2000 - 2007Led the systems development efforts of multiple teams located in Milwaukee, WI and Jackson, MS for this 28 state, 360 location multi-brand retailer. Development teams supported credit cards and statements, sales audit and reporting, general ledger, customer loyalty, embossing, authorizations, collections, call dialers, and internal and external, audits. 

IT leader responsible for the due diligence of five retail acquisitions. Developed plans to incorporate systems from newly acquired companies. Eliminated duplicate systems and functions and selected best of breed software solutions.



Led three A/R portfolio conversions and designed an interim authorization solution used during the data conversion resulting in improved customer service and elimination of authorization fraud.



Proposed and retrofitted three new software release features into the existing software version release eliminating the expense of implementing a software upgrade.
