The Seminar The Institute for Vedic Studies is very pleased to welcome James Kelleher for the fourth time to Amsterdam to work with a group of Vedic Astrology students during a four day intensive seminar.  James Kelleher’s knowledge of the theory and practice of Jyotish is extensive. He is the author of two highly acclaimed volumes on Vedic Astrology entitled Path of Light, covering signs, planets, houses and Nakshatras and chart interpretation for the primary domains of modern life. Beginning students are welcome, but they should be familiar with the basic terminology, rulership of signs and Nakshatras, and have a basic ability to follow a discussion about chart interpretation. Please note that English will be the language used during the seminar.

Public Lecture On Saturday evening, 16 September 2017, starting at 20.00, James Kelleher will give a lecture at the Insitute’s building, J.J. Viottastraat 34, Amsterdam, entitled “World Predictions 2017”.  James describes worldwide trends and events and shows how these events fit into a greater pattern of global evolution. He will also speak about the astrological influences on the tenure of the current President of the United States, Donald Trump, and possible directions this will take in the future.

Admission is €20.00 payable at the door (open at 19.30). For those attending the entire seminar the admission fee is included in the seminar fee.

Seminar Programme  James will present a systematic approach to muhurtha, the art of selecting an auspicious time for starting new projects, marriage, and other important events, on 14 September, day 1 of the seminar.

He will spend day 2, 15 September, on the nakshatras, as well, showing you how to apply the intricate and rich symbolism of the lunar constellations in the process of chart analysis. Day 3, 16 September, is used to introduce you to the use of drekkanas, which are based on a division of the sign into three parts. The symbolism of the drekkanas frequently adds an element of detail to chart analysis, that allows the astrologer to see the person more clearly. On the last day, 17 September, James will show you how to do an annual reading for a client, using a variety of predictive techniques, that can help you make more accurate predictions for a specific year. In the process he will bring lots of example charts, and students are also encouraged to bring charts for further discussion. Each day the programme starts at 9.00 and ends at 17.00, with a break for lunch at midday, and a break for coffee or tea in the morning and afternoon. Furthermore, there will be an opportunity after the seminar to arrange a consult with James. Please use the registration email address for an appointment: schoolvoorfilosofi[email protected].

James Kelleher  Author of two highly acclaimed books on Vedic  Astrology, James Kelleher has been a student of the traditions of India for more than 40 years. In the early 70’s he began practicing meditation. At that time he spent 18 months in the mountains of Switzerland studying meditation with an Indian spiritual teacher, and later taught meditation full time in the United States. In 1975 he met his Guru, the renowned Vedic Astrologer and spiritual adept, M.K.Gandhi, who predicted Jim would become an astrologer. Gandhi not only offered to train him personally, but also invited him to become his assistant. Initially Jim studied Vedic astrology in India under Gandhi’s guidance. During this time he also traveled on long pilgrimages with his teacher to many of India’s most important spiritual centers. After this period of intense study and travel in India,  Jim moved to London, where he worked as a professional astrologer, assisting Gandhi with his diverse international clientele for the next 5 years. In 1984, Jim moved to the United States where he quickly became one of the nation’s leading astrologers. At the request of several spiritual organizations, he traveled and lectured throughout the United States and became known for his accurate world predictions.  Jim has received a number of awards from the Indian Council of  Astrological Sciences, including Jyotish Kovid, Jyotish Vachaspati,  Jyotish Medha Pragya, and Jyotish Masagara.  Jim is an adjunct professor of Jyotish at Hindu University of America in Orlando Florida. He is the co-founder of the American Council of  Vedic Astrology and the American College of Vedic Astrology.  Jim is also the founder of the Sierra Institute of Vedic Astrology, based in Nevada City, CA, where he teaches classes, gives webinars, and has a busy private practice doing readings. www.jameskelleher.com email: [email protected] • tel: +1 530 265 8410
