I got my first job when I was eighteen after I managed to convince my parents to allow me to earn some pocket money. I hear that a company in the building where my sister worked needed a temporary clerk. I phoned a company’s office for an interview. I was ask to report to the office the next morning. Never having attended an interview before, I took pains to make a better impression. Next morning, after anyone had woken up, I sneaked out in my best clothes. I did not want to be teased about mine appearance. I walked into the office at 8.50 a.m.to be on time from the interview. After I had told the receptionist who I was so why I was there, she pointed to a door. She said I could start work today and that my desk was in the room. Greatly puzzled, I asked her about the interviews I was supposed to attend. She explained that I was to be here for only a month. Then, she told me smiling to wear shoes the next day. I looked down and was stunned for moment – I had rushed off in my slippers! From then onwards, I made sure I was not wearing, slippers whenever I leave my house for appointment.

e.g: heard a) the b) asked c) good d) before e) my f) for g) and h) interview i) there j) smilingly
Comment and Answer(Sample): a) the – the article needed here is “the” not “a” because the company had been mentioned in the line before. b) asked – the verb in the sentence should be in the past tense, so it should be “asked” not ask. c) good- the word should be “good” not “better” as there is no need to use the comparative form. d) before –from the sentence, it is obvious that the writer left “before” everyone had woken up as she said that she sneaked out as she did not want to be seen by anyone. e) my –the grammatical error here is the use of possessive adjective ”my” not possessive pronoun “ mine”. f)
for – the preposition needed here is the preposition of time “for” not preposition of direction “from”.
g) and – the conjunction needed here should be “and” and not “so” as the sentence is about two similar things. h) interview-the writer was supposed to attend only one interview, so the word should be singular. i)
there- both words “here” and “there” refer to the place. The statement is used in the indirect speech, so the word “there” is correct.
j)
smiling-the grammatical error is the word “smile” should be an adverb as it tells how the receptionist talked to the writer, smilingly.
