Description

MY BIGGEST CONCERN FOR THE FUTURE “Never be fearful for what lies ahead. There is no escaping it. So you might as well, face your fears.” We have no idea what may happen in the next second of our life. But, that doesn’t stop us from dreaming. My parents always talk about how great their childhood days were. When they describe how they used to play amidst the woods, climb the trees, enjoy the rain, it just makes me want to travel in time where we didn’t have to go to parks to see flowers and trees. The environment around us is not as it was four decades back, but I still have enjoyed it to some extent. What i fear the most is that whatever is left of our nature, will it perish for the next generations to come? At the rate we are developing , we are going to extinguish ,most of our resources. Deforestation is my biggest concern and I dread thinking about it consequences. It is indeed one of the major issues. Trees are our means of survival. Research shows that every year, deforestation is estimated to be 13.7 million hectares which is equal to the area of Greece. The destruction of such vast quantities of forestland will no doubt have fatal consequences in future, especially considering that fewer trees will result in less intake of carbon dioxide adding further emissions to greenhouse effect. It would also result in soil erosion, flooding, biodiversity loss. The major factors responsible for deforestation are: Agriculture expansion and the global trend of urbanization. This is a never ending topic if discussed about. But I would like to conclude by saying that Nature is not something separate from us. So when we say we have lost connection to nature, we have lost connection to ourselves. Future is what we make of the present. So let’s starts thinking how can we shape our future by taking an initiative and thinking about our nature.
