Effectivity LM2500 gas generators, serial numbers 671-050 through 671-055, 671-101 through 671-121, and 671-124 through 671-163, are affected by this Service Bulletin. LM2500 gas turbines, serial numbers 672-050 through 672-053, 672-101 through 672-103, and 672-105 through 672-115, are affected by this Service Bulletin. LM2500+ gas generators, serial numbers 635-101 through 635-103, 636-050, 636-051, and 636-101 through 636-106, are affected by this Service Bulletin. LM2500+ gas turbines, serial numbers 557-051, 557-052, 557-101 through 557-107, 559-101 through 559-110, 641-101 through 641-122, 642-101 through 642-135, and 642-137 through 642-148, are affected by this Service Bulletin.

The new sensor, while similar in design to the superceded part, incorporates a change to the internal potting material in order to provide increased tolerance to operation in a high temperature environment. II. ACCOMPL ACCOMPLISHM ISHMENT ENT INSTRUCT INSTRUCTIONS IONS  A. Remove T3 sensor, PN L47444P03, as follows: NOTE

For engines equipped with two T3 sensors, both sensors should be replaced using the following procedure. 1.

Remove T3 sensor (1, Figure 1) electrical lead from bracket (2 or 5) as follows: WARNING

ELECTRICAL POWER SHALL BE OFF BEFORE CONNECTING OR DISCONNECTING ELECTRICAL CONNECTORS. ELECTRICITY CAUSES SHOCK, BURNS, AND DEATH.

a.

Remove packager cable from T3 sensor (1) electrical lead per packager’s manual.

b.

Remove safety wire and remove jamnut (6) securing T3 sensor (1) electrical lead to bracket (2 or 5).

c.

Remove T3 sensor (1) electrical lead from bracket (2 or 5).

Remove T3 sensor (1) from compressor rear frame (CRF) as follows: a.

Remove safety wire from four bolts (4) securing T3 sensor (1) to CRF.

b.

Remove bolts (4) that secure T3 sensor (1) to CRF. Retain bolts for reuse.

c.

Remove T3 sensor (1) and metal gasket (3) from CRF. Discard metal gasket.

B. Install T3 sensor, PN L47444P04, onto CRF as follows: 1.

Install new metal gasket (3), PN MS9372-029, onto T3 sensor (1).

2.

Carefully fit T3 sensor (1) into port in CRF.

3.

Align T3 sensor (1) boltholes with boltholes in CRF boss.

4.

Coat threads and contact faces of bolts (4) with thread lubricating compound.

5.

Using bolts (4), secure T3 sensor (1) to CRF. Tighten bolts to 55-70 lb-in. (6.2-7.9 N⋅m) of torque and safety-wire.

II. ACCOMPLISHMENT INSTRUCTIONS - Continued 6.

Install T3 sensor (1) electrical lead through bracket (2 or 5).

7.

Using jamnut (6), secure integral T3 sensor (1) electrical lead onto bracket (2 or 5). Tighten jamnut (6) to 25-30 lb in. (2.8-3.4 N ⋅m) of torque and safety-wire. WARNING

ELECTRICAL POWER SHALL BE OFF BEFORE CONNECTING OR DISCONNECTING ELECTRICAL CONNECTORS. ELECTRICITY CAUSES SHOCK, BURNS, AND DEATH. 8.
