Saturn Transit 2011 and Obama’s Fortunes Dear All: Today, Dec 21, 2011, marks an important date in Vedic astrology calendar, being the date on which the slow moving planet Saturn (Sani or Shani) moves from one zodiacal constellation (Rasi) to another.

The earth completes one full orbit around the sun in exactly one year (this is actually the definition of one year, the time taken for the earth to complete one orbit around the sun) but Saturn, being much farther from the sun, takes almost 30 years to complete one full orbit around the sun. During this 30 year period the planet is seen to move through all the 12 zodiacal constellations (rasis). Saturn now enters Libra (Tula) and will be in Libra for the next 2.5 years. The 7.5 years of Sani (called sade sati in Hindi and in many Indian languages) refers to the transit of Sani through 3 constellations - the constellation which has the moon in the horoscope of any person and the constellation preceding and following that constellation. In Obama's chart, see above, the Moon is in the fifth house. So, for

Obama, sade sati period started when Saturn entered his 4th house and ended when Saturn exited his 6th house. This period is long over for Obama. In fact, his career went on the upswing (invitation to speak at the Democratic National Convention in 2004) ONLY after these transits occurred. Astrologers make a lot of predictions when such important transits occur. Another transit is that of Jupiter which takes a little less than 12 years to complete one orbit around the sun. Hence, Jupiter transit (Guru Peryarchi) occurs every year. Likewise, the sun enters a new constellation each month. On January 14, 2012 the sun will enter Capricorn (Makara rasi) and this transit is called Makara Sankranti and is celebrated all over India. The sun then begins its northward trek on the celestial sphere (Uttarayanam). The Saturn transit takes on additional significance for the USA, at this point in time, because President Obama has Saturn situated in the first house of his Vedic horoscope. The first house is also known as the Ascendant (Asc, marked with a diagonal across the square in the chart above). Not only does he have Saturn in the first house, Saturn also occupies what is called its own house (constellation of Capricorn, or Makara rasi), and so is in rulership. Also, Saturn occupies the same house, Capricorn, in what is known as the Navamsa chart (not shown) making Saturn a vargottama planet for Obama. This makes Saturn an extremely powerful planet in Obama's horoscope. Besides Saturn, Obama also has Jupiter in the same house (see chart). Obama was born in the year 1961. For those old enough to remember, the year 1962 was a landmark event when all the planets were lined up and occupied a single house - Capricorn (Makara rasi). Some astrologers even predicted the end of the world at that time. All of India was going crazy. I remember that distinctly. Of course, the world did NOT end, not because astrologers were wrong but because priests and astrologers were ALL furiously conducting various yajnas to pacify and propitiate the planetary gods! Anyway, this is also the reason why we find Jupiter and Saturn are conjoined in Obama's horoscope, in Capricorn. They arrived there first and all the other planets were also lined up in Capricorn for a brief period and then started separating and moving into other constellations. The famous Hollywood actress Brooke Shields (who was married to tennis start Andre Agassi) was also born in 1962. For Obama's fortune, this Saturn transit has additional significance. Obama is

currently going through what is known as Jupiter Mahadasa, which lasts for 16 years. This Jupiter period will end in 2012. Although Jupiter is fallen (astrologically called neecha) in Capricorn, some argue that its debilitated position is counteracted by the conjunction with Saturn, which is in rulership. Obama rose to prominence during the Jupiter period, first by his speech to the Democratic National Convention in 2004, then he won the Senate race in 2006 and finally the Presidency in 2008. However, the fact that Jupiter is debilitated is obvious since Obama's presidency is no longer perceived to be a successful one. Having achieved the highest position in US government, his performance leaves much to be desired. Jupiter must necessarily be in an exalted position, and even in rulership, for a highly successful presidency. Obama's problems are thus partly because of that. (As an aside, Britian's Prince Charles, who was born to be king, is not king yet, even after 63 years, because he does not have Jupiter in a desirable rulership in his horoscope.) The 16 year Jupiter Mahadasa will end in June 2012, just before he faces reelection. The next Mahadasa is Saturn mahadasa and it will last for 19 years. Hence, Obama will be under the fullest influence of Saturn when he comes up for re-election in November 2012. Also, the transited Saturn will be occupying Obama's 10th house (Libra) and the 10th house determines one's exaltation (what is called Rajyapadam) in society. During Obama's presidency thus far, the transited Saturn was occupying his 9th house which is called Bhagyapadam, which determines fortunes of an individual. Saturn, although powerful in Obama's horoscope, is generally not considered beneficial and the rather weak accomplishments of Obama's first term are reflected by Saturn occupying the house of fortunes for Obama. The first phase of Saturn Mahadasa (called Saturn bhukti) will last for 3 years and 3 months (until about Sep 2015) and so will consume the greater part of his second term should he get re-elected. However, this period, might also be very stressful and Obama might LOSE what little support he now has with Democrats/ Republicans and become totally ineffective - even with an election victory. Individuals who are dominated by Saturn also tend to be generally gloomy, optimism is lacking and become very tentative in decision making. Alternatively, they can lash out and make bad decisions. Fortunately, Obama does not seem to be the lashing out type but tentativeness is certainly his trait and it will NOT serve him well if he is re-elected.

Some astrologers have predicted that Obama is not likely to win re-election. Others on the other hands, have predicted a win, and even a second Nobel Prize (see below, from earlier emails), based on the fact that Saturn is a powerful planet in Obama's horoscope. So, there we go with all the grand predictions. Even astrologers are having it BOTH ways! And surely, one of them will be proved right. Which one? Will the country as a whole prosper after the 2012 election? That is the only question for which I am seeking an answer!

Obama was running Jupiter dasa, Moon bhukti when he was elected during 2008. Moon being exalted and on own constellation and sub of Rohini has helped him achieve this feat, though retrograde jupiter caused some hurdles. He has no chances to get re-elected to president’s chair in 2012 because he will be entering into Saturn dasa by end of june 2012. Saturn being retrograde(though lord of 1st and 2nd houses), is placed in 12th house (in bhava chakra) and is on constellation of 8th lord sun and sub of 12th lord jupiter(who is also in 12th house in bhava chakra). So Obama may somehow manage to survive for next 2 years at office but future looks dull for him. Due to saturn and jupiter’s retrogression in his chart, his decisions will be severely criticised. His last year as president during 2012 will be somewhat better than his initial 3 years.
