MX2 vs SX

MX2:

SX:

• Multi-Group inspection

• Single group inspection

• Modularity for changing needs

• Small • Simple

Welcome to the Family

Applications With it’s single group capability, the OmniScan SX is the answer for less demanding applications.

It is ideal for linear zero-degree inspection, such as corrosion mapping or composite inspection, as well as weld inspection using one phased array group or one TOFD channel.

Capabilities  All those applications can be fully addressed because of the following capabilities: 1. Single group 2. Imaging 3. Data Storage 4. Manual or Encoded (one or two axis) 5. Post-Analysis or Results Traceability

1. Single Group • Examples of what is called a single group:  –  A linear using 1x PA probe  –  A sectorial using 1x PA probe  –  A TOFD using 2x UT probes  –  A Pulse-Echo using 1x UT probe  –  A Pitch-Catch using 1x dual UT probe

•  Any combination of 2 or more of the above is called a Multi-Group application

• The OmniScan MX2 has a capability of 8 groups.

2. Imaging •  A-Scan  Imaging for volumetric representation.

3. Data Storage •  After an acquisition is saved, all A-Scans are stored on the Flash card. • Stored data can be post analysed within the instrument or on a computer using OmniPC or TomoView. • One of the feature that is commonly required for code compliancy is the ability to archive unprocessed data.

4. Encoding • Required for precise defect positioning and sizing

• Same encoder connector and capabilities between the MX2 and the SX • One encoder is typically well suited for applications such as weld inspection. • Two encoders are a best fit for corrosion or composite mapping (XY raster scan)
