CADANGAN PENSWASTAAN PEMBINAAN KOMPLEKS 1 DIVISYEN DI MUARA TUANG, KOTA SAMARAHAN, SARAWAK. Road Works - Method Statements 1

The crusher run material shall be transported to the sites and place them in the required areas.

2

Setting out of road alignment and level shall be performed by the Contractor’s surveyors.

3

Details of the benchmarks used in this survey of shall be obtained from the construction drawing.

4

No excavated material shall be removed from the Site except on the direction or with the approval of the S.O. Sub-grade

5

The sub-grade shall be trimmed and rolled to obtain a smooth finish.

6

The sub-grade shall be finished in a neat and workmanlike manner, and the widths of embankments and cuts shall be everywhere at least those specified or shown on the drawings on both sides of the centerline. The top surface of the sub-grade shall have required shape, super-elevation, levels and grades and shall be finished everywhere to required level.

7

The sub-grade shall be compacted with at least 8 passes with a 8-10 tons smooth wheeled roller. Sub-base

8

The sub-base material shall consist of approved material size 50mm gauge material. The compacted thickness of sub base shall be 230mm thick.

9

Sub-base shall be placed with lorry and level by mechanical grader.

10

Compaction shall be carried out in such a manner that each section receives equal compactive effort using 8-10 tons smooth wheel roller.

11

The sub-base shall be finished in a neat and workmanlike manner. The top surface shall have the required shaped, superelevation, levels, and grades.

12

The fine 20mm down aggregate shall be spread over the sub base in an even layer of suitable thickness to fill the interstices and continue rolling until there is no play or lateral movement under the weight of the roller.

Base Course 13

The process from item 8 to item 12 is repeated for base course which consists of 38mm down crusher run stone. The fine use shall be 16mm own. The ultimate compacted thickness shall be 150mm.

14

The base course shall be finished in a neat and workmanlike manner. The top surface shall have the required shaped, superelevation, levels, and grades and shall be everywhere within the tolerances ± 20mm. Premix binder course

15

Prior to constructing the premix layer, the surface to be covered shall have been prepared, notwithstanding any damage to or deterioration.

16

A mechanical spreader will be utilized to lay the binder course.

17

Laying shall be only carried out in dry weather when the surface to be covered is dry, or if so specified. The temperature of premix immediately before unloading from the truck either into the paver hopper or on to the road for hand spreading shall be not less than 120 º C.

18

The initial compaction of laid premix layers are done by using the 3-4 tons roller and followed by using 9-11 tons multiple-wheel pneumatic roller sequentially when the temperature of the premix layer becomes lower.

19

In other areas inaccessible to the rollers, proper compaction shall be carried out using vibrating plate compactors, hand tampers or other suitable means. Premix wearing course

20

A layer of bitumen tack coat is applied by spraying machine on the premix binder course surface prior to receiving the wearing course to ensure the bonding effect between the premix layers.

21

The rate of application shall be 0.25 litres/ sq. meter or based on the manufacturer recommendation.

22

The temperature of the bituminous material shall be maintained in the range of 25 0 C to 45 0 C during spraying operation.

23

Laying shall commence along the lower side of the road and progress to the higher side. In any areas in accessible to the paver, laying shall be carried out by hand methods using rakes, lutes and other hand tools.

24

The temperature of premix immediately before unloading from the truck either into the paver hopper or on to the road for hand spreading shall be not less than 120 0 C.

25

The initial compaction of laid premix layers are done by using the 3-4 tons mechanical steel roller and followed by using 9-11 tons multiple-wheel pneumatic roller sequentially when the temperature of the laid premix layers becomes lower.
