Features
Stainless Steel Tank: SS is the most preferred material for Gas Insulated System because of its high resistance to corrosive and humid atmosphere.
Extensibility: RMU is extensible on both sides. This feature give greater flexibility to Utility’s planning department to plan future extensions.
Outdoor Application: RMU is suitable for outdoor application. It is IP54 tested. This prevents construction of extra room to house the switchgear.
Gas leakage - For a SF6 Insulated VCB type RMU, the chances of Vacuum bottle leaking and SF6 gas leakage from chamber, simultaneously are very rare. Hence in VCB type RMU provides a double protection scheme.

Ionization of Gas: Since fault is broken in Vacuum Interrupter, the SF6 gas is not polluted.
Constant dielectric: There is no gas decomposition products in vacuum and hermetically sealed vacuum interrupter keep out all environmental effects.
High total current switched: Since the contact piece erosion is small, rated normal current can be interrupted more than 20000 times and rated shortcircuit breaking current on average a hundred times.
