INTRODUCTION
1.1
Project description
BHP Petroleum Pakistan Pty Limited (BHP) is currently operating a large gas field in Zamzama (Sindh Province in Pakistan), with gas condensate and water as side streams which are separated during the gas processing phase. The separated water amounts, currently, to approximately 2.500bbl/day, being this value expected to rise 5000 bbl/day in the near future, based on existing reservoir simulations. Presently, the facility produced water is evaporated into the atmosphere in an open evaporation ponds as the last step of the process; however the capacity of the existing evaporation ponds facilities is not enough to handle the future predicted water “production”. Given this situation BHP Billiton has started a detail engineering project to proceed with the erection and installation of surface facilities to implement the first water disposal well (WDW) in the Zamzama Field. WDW project will comprise the following major units; a) Water Treatment Facility b) Treated Water Storage Tank c) Treat water disposal pumps d) Flow line and e) Water Disposal Well In addition to above, several piping tie-ins and E&I integrations have been envisaged during detail engineering with existing plant to integrate the new facility operation together with existing one. 1.2
Process Description
In WDW project a co-mingled stream of produced water from different production separators will be routed to new Produced water treatment facility and stored in treated water storage tank. A disposal Pumps unit (comprised of booster pump and high pressure disposal pump) will transport treated water to disposal well through a disposal pipeline. An effluent will be released in form of sludge from produced water treatment unit and this will be routed to existing Phase 2 evaporation pond through a new dedicated pump and line.
Oxygen scavenger chemical will be injected in to treated water to remove any oxygen presence in to water to avoid corrosion. See the below sketch for concept. 2.0
