It’s a campus life... The Residential College The completion of the new student residence marked the beginning of a new campus life for UBD students. They will now be able to enjoy new and modern facilities beginning January 2011. The Residential College complex comprises the central building called ‘The Core’: four units of student residence blocks and four units of Executive Bungalows for tenants with family. The Residential College is fully fitted with modern facilities including tower common areas, surveillance camera, and also facilities for students with disability. There are a total of eight towers: Towers 1-4 are designated for male students, while Towers 5-8 for female. With its strategic and scenic location just by the coast, Tower residents will be able to enjoy the panoramic view and cool breeze of the South China Sea.

The Tower The Tower is comprised of apartments containing five study-bedrooms that share a kitchen and bathroom facilities. In the standard apartment kitchens; a kettle, refrigerator, freezer, microwave, an oven, as well as a dining table and seats are provided. Crockery, cutlery and cooking utensils are only provided for premium apartment. However, all apartments’ accommodation includes rooms with shared kitchenette. Daily cleaning of the common areas is included in the charges, and weekly cleaning of study-bedrooms can be provided upon request with additional fees. Residents will need to supply and lauder their own bed sheets and pillowcases (these may be bought from the College at reasonable prices). In addition, there is a common room/ social area with television both indoor and outdoor.

Monthly- rate given for those who prefer monthly payment. Term- A two-term payment for the duration of 17 Weeks of the Semester. Students are required to vacate the room during the summer break. Full Term- Applies to Overseas students who require accommodation throughout the year. Rooms must be vacated during the summer break. *Although we encourage full payment up front for Full Term rate, however we could arrange a payment plan to be split up to 4 payments.

When can I move in? The Residential College will commence operations in January 2011. Admissions are expected to begin on 3rd January 2011, in time for the start of the new Semester on 10th January 2011.

Who should apply for the new residence? The residence is opened to all students of Universiti Brunei Darussalam and the Institute Technology Brunei. However, priority would be given to students who are currently staying in college hostel and wish to upgrade their accommodation. In addition to this, we are planning to refurbish the old hostel which may result to the closure of some rooms. The accommodation office reserves the right to prioritise its tenants accordingly.

I require special needs attention, do you provide that? Our residence can accomodate for those who require special attention. Students with specific medical conditions should first make contact with the Accommodation Office so that we can address any special needs prior to making an application.

Internet access All Premier rooms have a WiFi connection to the internet.

Where can I park my car? Existing car park is available at the old male hostel area which is just opposite to the new residence. Parking area in front of the CORE building is designated for visitors in the day time. A pay parking area is also available and passes will be issued by the accommodation office.

Common Area Besides the Core building, there is ample space throughout the premises for common use. The Core Yard provides sufficient space for residence to carry out their social activities and get-together events. It is located in the centre of the complex and is connected to all the towers and the central building. The Tower Common Room is designated space for visitors to the tower. The common area is fitted with flat-screen TV and comfortable seating.

Security Increased security means our security guards will monitor the premises around the clock, and they will be stationed at the entrance of the Core building. All residents will be issued with special cards to enter the premises. The buildings are also fitted with surveillance cameras to ensure maximum security.
