3.1.1 Introduction to company ’s background

Before startin g the industrial training at AmirFaliq & Syahidah, the student was given a  brief ice-breaking session with the implication of showing them all about the company. This includes the scope of works that the student will be doing

3.1.2 Daily task and activities

Most of the time that in my industrial program, I was given tasked to draft, write and sent letters (mail and courier) to client and to courts and government agencies. Mostly it involves office works, with a slightly rare case of which I can accompany the lawyer to the firms. The letters that was drafted is based on a format that was given by the firm which also includes their own letterhead. The letterhead cannot be used without the knowledge of the lawyer as it also creates an insignificant important within the firms.

On different cases, I was given the task of creating a document called

“affidavit” which

also denotes a sworn statement of a person in court. In this case the person who sworn the Affidavit shall not be present in the court nor be in the court witness box as the matter is now only be heard only by his/her affidavit. The Affidavit, after signed by the  person

must be affirmed by the oath commissioner, and then filed in the court.

16

3.1.3 Letters

One of the benefit of me working here, is the knowledge on how to prepare a formal letter and documents which give me many new knowledges on how to use it efficiently. Furthermore, I also managed to gain on many experiences on law  procedures and what type of law applies to each cases.

The legal document that have been drafted and sent, sometimes will be use in the government websites in order to update a certain case. For example, a decree absolute in Divorce Cases (Non-Muslim) which has been filed in court, must be sent to Jabatan Pendaftaran Putrajaya, to update the status of parties who are divorcing. Sometimes the clients will be prompted to pay the legal fees for each case, and costs of each cases depends on seriousness of cases, and the rank of courts the case is filed. For instance, a registration of cases in Magistrates court (which covers cases for amount of claim RM 100,000,00 and below) I used to handle a client which paid RM 1,900 for registration of file in the office.

3.1.4 Bills

As a Law firm, AmirFaliq & Syahidah will be paying a lot of bills, including maintenance bills and utility bills. They include big amount of money including wages and salary which I have handle and some of it involve small amount such as utilities and petty cash. It requires people to be calculative as to not do any mistake during the  payment for the bills.

Furthermore, some of the bills will be requiring it to be checked and confirmed by the  partners before been paid and the receipt and/or invoice must be put in the office files which have all the important information regarding the firms itself.

At one point of time, I was given the honour of registering a case where the lawyer gave me a large amount of Rm4000 to been used in the courts. Thank fully I did not do any mistakes.

3.1.5 Courts

On Certain days, a rare instant of where I was permitted to follow the lawyer to the courts following their respecting cases There, I was taught the proper etiquettes of  being in the present of a magistrates and judges. This further had given me knowledge regarding our law systems.

CHAPTER 4

CONCLUSION & RECOMMENDATION 4.1 CONCLUSION

It can be concluded that the past 5 months during my internship in the company have given me many knowledge and also open my eyes to the very complicated system that the law haves. But most importantly, it gave me the opportunity to expand and develop myself in many different aspects such as communications with others. With this, I can familiarize myself when I finally begin my real work after this degree. As a bonus, I got to experience courts process and I even learn of the step taken within a court of what to do and what we should not do in a court, as the internship was a place where I could learn on how to be better on. There I was given the opportunity of finding what best for me and what skills I could better use and expand it. I learned a lot of from the different task that I have been working with during my internship. Each task had different education and that made it interesting for me this internship was beneficial for me and I am grateful and thankful that I got to experience and learn many things.

4.2 RECOMMENDATIONS 4.2.1 Recommendation for the Internship Company

AmirFaliq & Syahidah advocates and solicitors is a great company, they have many  possibilities to expand beyond what they can, but first they must utilize whatever media that exist in order to attract more client in a more efficient way, FB, Twitters will be useful in attraction those target markets that are available in the vast internets.
