Replacing Relay Module RM-10 by Relay Module RM-11 on W26 engines 1

General For W26 engines a new generation of Relay Modules, RM-11, is available now with improved protection and improved functionality in comparison with RM10. The new module has identical terminal numbers, terminal locations and physical dimensions. Part no. RM-10: 5160037; Part no. RM-11: 5160037.

More “user-safe” and user friendly: Short circuit proof inputs/outputs Fuses in vertical position Cover removable without disconnecting disconnecting the connectors Improved EMC-immunity: Additional filters on internal supply Additional filters on solenoid outputs Additional filters in speed measuring circuit Analogue output 4-20 4-20 mA Rest with latching relays Enhanced speed pulse output stage Electronics have been made more logically and straight-forward

Improved functions: Short-circuit LED-indication and alarm Ø Speed pulse LED-indication Ø Automatic shutdown rest at power-ON Ø Adjustable Local stop activation time Ø Cable supervision on emergency stop stop circuit Ø Offset adjustment for analogue speed signal Ø Resetable Local stop Ø Prevention of lube oil shutdown after other shutdowns Ø LED-indication for MCU +12 VDC Ø Selectable Overspeed shutdown, latching or no-latching Ø By-pass of Overspeed shutdown for test of other overspe ed shutdown devices. Tuning Prior to installation RM-11 is to be tuned according to the latest RM-10 tunings of the particular engine. Details should be available at WNSNL-S. Tuning is to be carried out according to “Instruction of tuning of Relay Module” 9580ZT102. Actual tuning is to be recorded in “Record of tuning of Relay Module” 9590ZT105. NOTE: Please pay attention that on RM-11 the locations of most jumpers and potentiometers are different from those on RM-10 !

Replacing For W26 0-version (diagram WECS cabinet 9510ZT103): Ø Stop the engine Ø Switch-OFF power to the WECS cabin et (disconnect connector C2) Ø Disconnect all connectors to the RM-10 leaving the wires attached Ø Loosen the fixing screws of the RM-10 and remove it from the cabinet Ø Check of RM-10 tuning record or on RM-10 itself if a back up speed indicator of 0-10 VDC is mounted . This is the case if JP4 = on and JP5 = off. Ø Replace the 0-10 VDC back-up speed indicator b y a 4-20 mA speed indicator. (if applicable) Ø Mount the RM-11 and fasten its fixing screws Ø Insert all existing connectors in their corresponding positions Ø In case no wiring is connected to R7/R8 but a resistor of 100kohm, then this resistor has to be replaced by a resistor 10 kohm. Ø Mount a resistor of 10 kohms-¼W over the termina ls of the r emote emergency stop button or contact for wire break monitoring of the Normally Open Emergency stop circuit. Ø Replace resistor in connector at PSZ 201.2 Remove resistor value 100 kohm and mount resistor value 10 kohm. conn ector C2) Ø Switch-ON power to the WECS cabinet (reconnect connector Ø The engine can be started again For W26 A-version (diagram WECS cabinet 9510ZT216, .221, .226 or .241): Ø Stop the engine Ø Switch-OFF power to the WECS cabinet (disconnect connector X3) Ø Disconnect all connectors to the RM-10 leaving the wires attached Ø Loosen the fixing screws of the RM-10 and remove it from the cabinet Ø Mount the RM-11 and fasten its fixing screws Ø Insert all existing connectors in their corresponding positions Ø In case no wiring is connected to R7/R8 but a resistor of 100kohm, then this resistor has to be replaced by a resistor 10 kohm. Ø Mount a resistor of 10 kohms-¼W over the terminals of the remote emergency stop button or contact for wire break monitoring of the Normally Open Emergency stop circuit Ø Replace resistor in connector at PSZ 201.2 Remove resistor value 100 kohm and mount resistor value 10 kohm. one of the two wires from terminal R1 (for +24 VDC supply to terminal 1 of Ø Disconnect one of speed relays SS174-1 and –2; check if correct wire !) !) and reconnect it to terminal P14 Ø Switch-ON power to the WECS cabinet (reconnect connector X3) Ø The engine can be started again

For W26-0 version engines having 0-10VDC engine speed panelmeter 1 pcs. 4-20mA engine speed instrument spn. 5160711 On 26-0 versions the WECS cabinet can be featured with an 0-10VDC panelmeter for backup engine speed reading. In such case an 4-20mA panelmeter is needed as well as RM11 cannot deliver 0-10VDC for engine speed signal

9

Remark In case of spare relays modules and specifically in case of more W26 engines on the same location, it has to be taken into consideration how this works out for the plant or the ship. Because once modified for RM11, the RM10 can only be mounted again if the above described is reversed.
