Divide the class into groups of four. Groups of three are also possible.
Aim
Give each student in the group a bingo card. c ard.
To play a game of bingo by describing people, places and things using dening relative clauses.
Preparaon Make one copy of the cards for each group of four. Cut out the bingo cards and word cards as indicated.
Also, give each group a set of word cards. Ask the students to shue the word cards and place them face down in a pile on the desk. The students take it in turns to take a card from the top of the pile and describe the person, place or thing on the card using a dening relative clause. Examples: It is a person who... It is a place where... It is something that/which...
Level Pre-intermediate
The student giving the description is not allowed to say the word or use variations of the word. The other students in the group try to guess the word.
Time 25 minutes
When the word has been guessed, the students who have the word on their bingo card cross it o. If the students are having diculty guessing the word, the student who is describing can give more denitions. The next student then picks up a word card and so on. The rst student to cross o all the words on their card shouts 'bingo' and wins the game.
