Introduction The word Reiki is made from two Japanese words: 2
REI: which has several meanings and connotations including: universal, spiritual, ghost, life, universal life force, Buddha Nature, God KI: meaning Life Force Energy, breath Reiki is a technique that allows everyone to tap into an unlimited supply of “life force energy” to improve health and enhance the quality of life for everyone and all of nature. Reiki is a tool that can be used for self-transformation it will help heal the emotional baggage we carry with us thus making us more useful to others, as part of this process it can help deal with or if the circumstances are right heal physical illness. As a treatment Reiki treats the whole person including body, emotions, minds and spirit and creates many beneficial effects including relaxation and feelings of peace, security and well-being. Reiki is a simple, natural, and safe method of spiritual healing and self-improvement that everyone can use. Reiki is very simple and can easily be integrated into your busy daily life although the roots are Buddhist, Reiki can fit with Islam, Christianity, Hinduism, Shamanism or any other type of spirituality.
How Does Reiki Work? We are alive because life force is flowing through us. Life force flows within the physical body though pathways energy veins and centres which are called many different depending on culture. It also flows around us in a field of energy called the aura. Life force nourishes the organs and cells of the body, supporting them in their vital functions. When this flow of life force is disrupted, it causes diminished function in one or more of the organs and tissues of the physical body. The life force is responsive to thoughts and feelings. Reiki heals by flowing through the affected parts of the energy field and charging them with positive energy. It raises the vibratory level of the energy field in and around the physical body where the negative thoughts and feelings are attached. This causes the negative energy to break apart and fall away. In so doing, Reiki clears, straightens and heals the energy pathways, thus allowing the life force to flow in a healthy and natural way. (Extract from “Reiki, The Healing Touch” by William lee Rand)

Reiki History
Mikao Yoshio (Gyoho or Kyoho) Usui Sensei, was born on the 15th of August 1865, in a village called Yago in the Yamagata district of Gifu, Japan Usui Sensei was a Buddhist born into a family whose ancestors were also Buddhists. At the age of four he entered a Tendai Buddhist school on Mount Kurama, north of Fyoto. He Studied Kiko, a practice to build an individual’s Ki (Chi or Prana) through meditation, specific body movements and breathing techniques. Kiko practitioners build up Ki energy within themselves, then release this energy to heal themselves and others. As he grew up he travelled Japan, China and Europe to further his education. He studied medicine, philosophy, religion and mysticism and later became a member of Rei Jyutu Ka, a group devoted to developing psychic abilities. In work Usui Sensei was secretary to a man called Pei Gotoushin, the Head of the Government departments for Health & Welfare. Pei Gotoushin later became the Mayor of Kyoto. With the connections Usui had in government he was able to become a successful businessman. Mikao Usui had a wife called Sadako (her family name was Suzuki). They had a daughter and a son called Fuji Usui. Fuji Usui took over the family business after Usui died. Sometimes the Universe gives us a series of events that causes us to stop and assess where it is that we stand in life. We can choose to see these events as a prompt to make positive and meaningful changes in life, or we can be changed by them in a negative way. You can choose to see yourself as the victim of fate or rise to the challenge by taking the reins of a mighty horse and riding to your glorious destiny. Usui Sensei had such a change in direction at about the age of 49. In 1914 his personal and business life were failing. He took the reins of destiny and went to a Buddhist temple on Mount Kurama, where he took Buddhist training with the Tendai 4
Buddhists. He entered training called Isyu Guo. The training included a 21-day retreat in which he would have meditated and fasted. An extract from his memorial stone reads: “…one day he went to Mount Karuma on a 21-day retreat to fast and meditate. At the end of this period he suddenly felt the great Reiki energy at the top of his head, which led to the Reiki Healing System. He first used Reiki on himself and then on his family. Since it worked well for various ailments, he decided to share his knowledge with the public …” He continued to use his Reiki healing to help other – and for the next seven years he worked amongst the poor people of Kyoto. Following this he then moved to Tokyo. He opened his first clinic in Harajuku Aoyama, Tokyo in April 1922. That year Mikao Usui Sensei also established a Reiki healing society called the Usui Reiki Ryoho Gakkai. Here he taught Reiki to students and treated clients. At first he created 3 degrees for his teaching. These were: Shoden (First Degree) Okuden (Inner Teaching) Shinpiden (Mystery Teaching) [Fumio Ogawa, a member of the Usui Reiki Ryoho Gakkai, said there were another 3 levels, making a total of 6. Fumio Ogawa passed over in July 1998] The Usui memorial stone goes on to tell us that in September 1923 “… The devastating Kanto earthquake shook Tokyo. Thousands were killed, injured or became sick in its aftermath. Dr. Usui grieved for his people, but he also took Reiki to the devastated city and used its healing powers on the surviving victims. His clinic became too small to handle the throng of patients so, in February 1925; he built a new one outside Tokyo in Nakano …” Mikao Usui was awarded the Kun San To for his service to others by the Japanese Government. Thoughout his remaining years Mikao became widely known throughout Japan. He was invited to many towns and villages where he treated patients and taught Reiki. It was during one such visit, to Fukuyam on 9th March 1926 that he suffered a stroke and died. He is buried at the Shohoji Temple in Suginami-Ku in Tokyo. In 1927, at his burial site, a memorial stone was erected. The inscriptions tell us about the life of Mikao Usui and his character. It also includes the Reiki ideals. The full English translation is in Frank Arjava Petter’s book – Reiki Fire.

Reiki Principles
Just for today I will give thanks for my many blessings Just for today I will not be angry Just for today I will not worry Just for today I will do my work honestly Just for today I will be kind to my neighbours And all beings
6
The Reiki Principles encompass the whole of Reiki and there is nothing higher or more powerful, they are not just some useful words that should be read once and put aside but they should be recited and contemplated as regularly as possible until you have taken them deep into your heart.
Just Just Just Just Just
for for for for for
today today today today today
I I I I I
will will will will will
give thanks for my many blessings not be angry not worry do my work honestly be kind to my neighbour and every living being
Just for today I will give thanks for my many blessings – the main focus here is gratitude and appreciation. Now I know that life is difficult is hard to appreciate 9 hours a day at work or serious illness, there is so much suffering in all of our worlds it can be easy to ask what blessings are there? But there is something that we overlook that is very pure, clear, inexpressible that we all experience every moment the key to experiencing what we really are is through humbleness, gratitude and thanks. Just for today I will not be angry – The idea here is not to suppress your anger, as this will only cause you illness and resentment but instead pay close attention to the times when we do get angry and ask the question why? I suspect that in most cases it is due to our pride or sense of self has been attacked in some way or another. We cannot stop our anger over night but we can stop adding fuel to it for example when driving someone may cut us up nearly causing a crash we get angry but we are not harmed and so after we calm down we should let it go not fuel our anger again by phoning all our friends telling them what happened saying that next time we will call the police and take down their number plate this is unnecessary fuelling of anger and this way simply makes it worse. Just for today I will not worry – the key here is to let go of unnecessary worry, if we take this too far and don’t worry about the council tax we will end up in jail, which is no good for anyone. Most of us spend a lot of our life worrying about ifs and buts, many of which never actually materialise this causes us pain and wastes time. This type of worry we can just let go of. "If you can solve your problem, then what is the need of worrying? If you cannot solve it, then what is the use of worrying?" – Shantideva a Buddhist saint. Just for today I will do my work honestly – Firstly on a literal level it is very hard to grow spiritually if your daily job involves lying and cheating it will be completely against Reiki and will drain your energy so here we are dealing with moral conduct we all know what is wrong it is inherent in our nature. If you go on to teach Reiki or become a professional healer it is important that you are sure of how to act morally otherwise you are acting outside of the principles and will cause lots of problems for yourself and others. 7
Just for today I will be kind to my neighbour and every living being – Here we are remembering our spiritual essence and spending some time with it. Really Reiki is none other than this principle if we could truly and fully have deep compassion for all beings as if they we no different to our own partner or child then we would not have many problems in life.
Reiki Principles Meditation This meditation can be done anywhere and best done as often as possible it can be done in a few minutes or taking as long as is comfortable. First sit with a straight back and take a few deep breaths releasing any tension in the body of the out breath. Say the first principle out loud if possible or in or mind if preferred. Just relax in the feeling that the principle produces When the normal mental chatter comes back say the principle again Again just simply relax the in space the words create. Repeat this process for as many times as you want to. Move onto the next principle and repeating the same structure When all have been done dedicate the benefits of this mediation to the well being of all beings.

Reiki Levels & Attunements Reiki is passed on through attunments; this is a sacred ceremony where the master passes on the connection to the source of Reiki. During this ceremony charkas are opened and cleared to allow a greater flow of energy. There are three levels of Attunements: Level I: This is the entrance to the Reiki energy you lean to heal yourself and learn how to integrate more energy into your life. Level II: Again another level of healing will occur for your self this enables you to be offer professionally treatments to others. The main focus of this attunments is the use of symbols to focus intent. Master Level: This attunment prepares you for teaching and passing on Reiki to others. The power of Reiki is not linear there are people who have only had a level one attunment but due to their level of practice and accomplishment they are able to be more effective healers than most Reiki Masters.
How Long Should I leave Between the Levels? This is down to each individual and it is your choice I would personally recommend that you leave at least 6 months between each level and preferably a year. It is like peeling an onion if you peel off the layers too fast it does not give you a chance to wipe the tears from your eyes.
What Happens after Reiki I Attunment? The attunment is a wonderfully cleansing and healing experience and after the Attunment: Your chakras are opened and you have been connected to the universal Reiki source You are now a Reiki healer there are no exams too take You will become more intuitive and psychic You will find that you attract things into your life that reflect your true nature After an attunment there are many physical and emotional reactions that may occur and instead of listing them all I would rather leave the space open for anything to happen. If at any point you find that something concerns you then please contact me.
9
21 Day cleansing period Reiki is all about positive change, there is a reason that you wanted to become a Reiki healer. After an attunment spending some time to detoxify (traditionally 21 days) will help support you in this change. This does not mean that after 21 days you have finished and don’t need to cleanse or work through things and at the same time if you did not have any symptoms or signs of change that the attunment did not work, far from it. Here is a list of guidelines for the 21-day period:
Get adequate rest. Reduce caffeine, sugar, and alcohol intake. Eat healthy foods, especially fresh fruits and vegetables. Perform an energy grounding technique if you feel an over stimulation of subtle energy. Drink plenty of water to flush toxins that may be released into the body. Share your feelings/experiences with you Reiki Teacher. Perform the Reiki self-treatment everyday, concentrating on specific areas if you feel the need. Practice meditation or breathing exercises Moderate exercise, get up and get moving. Recognize and release resurfacing emotions/patterns and focus on positive, self-affirming thoughts and actions. Do something nice for yourself. You don't need permission. All things in moderation.
Lastly don’t try too hard if you lead a busy life then a 30 minute self-treatment every day is enough.

Energy Basics Reiki is an energy base healing system and therefore it is beneficial to know a little about energy. Although it is possible to give and receive Reiki with no or minimal knowledge of the anatomy of energy, I have personally found that any effort you put into learning deepens and supports your Reiki practice.
Chakras The word chakra is derived from a Sanskrit word meaning 'wheel' each primary chakra as is a spinning vortex or wheel of energy, spinning inward from the front of your body towards the centre point of that chakra and then spinning outward from that same point from your back. There are many different cultures that will map these wheels slightly differently if you want to study further I suggest Dr. Valerie Hunt

Working with Chakras Depending on the sex of the individual, the chakras rotate either clockwise or anticlockwise. For instance, when a chakra in a man is rotating clockwise, the same chakra in a woman will rotate anti-clockwise and visa versa. Every clockwise rotation is primary male and every anti-clockwise rotation is female. When healthy each chakra will spin in the opposite direction to the one below
Illustration from: www.rickrichards.com
You have to experiment and use your intuition, chakras will change their spin, face you palms into the middle of a chakra with the intention of clearing and healing it then try to sense with you hands or other senses which way it is spinning and which way it needs to spin to heal. Then spin it with your hands gently and connect it to the next chakra above and below.

The Aura

14
The Aura is an egg shaped electromagnetic field, each chakra will have a layer of the aura but here I will briefly describe the first four, as most people will not have evolved spiritually to be living and expressing themselves above the fourth chakra.
Physical Layer The first level of the aura is located approximately 4 to 5 inches (12 cm), off the body, and reflects the structural and mechanical aspects of the physical body as well as the conscious emotions. This level corresponds to the infrared range of the electromagnetic spectrum. This is where both physical and conscious emotional traumas are found within the aura with direct correspondence to the physical structure. Restrictions of the first level can involve any structure of the body and potentially any conscious emotional issue.
Emotional Layer The second level of the aura, located approximately 9 to 10 inches (24 cm) off the body (about twice as far as the first level), relates to the subconscious emotions. Restrictions in this level usually will come from the early imprinting of society via our immediate family (parents, grandparents, siblings) or early caregivers from the time of conception to about age seven. These are subconscious restrictions, which rarely can be consciously remembered, as they bypassed the conscious mind when they first occurred. So this is truly our ancestral imprinting, passed down from many generations through the emotional subconscious of our second level. This obviously has huge implications for how this relates to our genetic ancestral programming and the "nature vs. nurture" debate.
Mental Layer The third level of the aura, located approximately 14 inches (36cm) off the body (about three times as far as the first level), is the mental plane and relates to our belief systems. Restrictions in this level come from beliefs and mental constructs that we formulate in order to cope with different stressful situations in life, particularly during our formative years. Problems can arise later in life, long after the original stressful stimulus is gone, if we still have our thinking and beliefs organized in such a way that no longer serve our best interest.
Light Body This is your first contact and relationship to the outside world it attracts all things into your life both good and difficult; through it you create the experiences around you. All illness will manifest in the light body first and then in time manifest physically, it is easier to change energy that can cause illness at this level.
Using Reiki to heal the Aura First try by feeling the different layers start with the intention of which layer you are trying to sense and then it is like touching the surface of water move your hands gently and slowly you may sense a sticky area stay there for a while put some energy into that area and then slowly smooth it out. Don’t worry if it is difficult at first don’t give up, pay close attention to the sensations in your hands and practice.
15
Healing with Reiki Reiki is universal energy and therefore can be used on anything and you should experiment. Try with all natural things, plants, animals, but also with computers and cars see what effect and benefits you can create. The healing work of Reiki should be treated with respect and honour but at the same time you should try and treat yourself with a light hearted manner and a sense of humour is very useful. The ability to laugh at oneself when we forget things and it all goes wrong really helps. Water Water is the source of life we cannot survive much without it after the attunment you will need more on a regular basis and after every treatment. You should drink extra water when treating others and should advise them to drink more water after a treatment. Reiki Can Never Cause Harm Because Reiki is guided by itself, it can never do any harm. It always knows what a person needs and will adjust itself to create the effect that is appropriate for them. You never need to worry about whether to give Reiki or not. It is always helpful. In addition, because the practitioner does not direct the healing and does not decide what to work on, or what to heal, the practitioner is not in danger of taking on the karma of the client. Because the practitioner is not doing the healing, it is also much easier for the ego to stay out of the way and allow the presence of light to clearly shine through. Energy is Never Depleted Because it is a channelled healing, the Reiki practitioner's energies are never depleted. In fact, the Reiki consciousness considers both practitioner and client to be in need of healing, so both receive treatment. Because of this, giving a treatment always increases one's energy and leaves one surrounded with loving feelings of wellbeing. If however you find you get head aches or you get tied it can mean you are trying too hard, it takes practice and time to learn how to channel effectively with no effort it requires a naked mind. How to Reiki Reiki is done traditionally by placing your hands gently on the positions of the body shown later in the manual generally for 3 – 5 minutes at a time. When you first start it is a good idea to keep to these positions until you are more experienced and have a good relationship with your intuition. It is possible and sometimes better to work in the layers of the Aura and not physically touch the body but a few inches away from the position the Reiki will be just as effective. Ceremony Each healing is set up before you even start with your intention and the conditions you create every healer needs to create a ceremony that they are comfortable with it does not matter what is used as long as it is genuine and from the heart.
16
It is also a good idea to create a few different ceremonies so you can change it depending on the place and person you are healing I would not like to burn white sage and sing songs calling in the Angels and bodhisattvas if I was healing someone I have never met before as it may scare them and it would be more appropriate just to light a candle. Sacred Space The place internally and externally should be scared this has great benefits for the channelling of Reiki first try to do your Reiki in a physically clean room it is always worth giving the room a quick once over if it is messy. Energy behaves a bit like smoke and can get stagnated especially in corners of rooms just move to each corner and clap your hands with the intention of cleaning the room energetically if you have a singing bowl, rattle, drum or bells then use them. Light a candle and burn some incense if you have it state the intention for the healing you are about to do then offer the light and sweet smell of the incense to help create a conducive atmosphere to support and protect you with this healing. Opening Yourself You cannot connect to the Reiki source before a healing as you are always connected but it helps to remember this connection and open your self as much as possible there are many different ways of doing this and each person is different here are a few examples: 1) Meditate for 5 minutes concentrating on the lower abdomen (2nd Chakra) 2) Chanting a Mantra for a few minutes 3) Breathing slowly 9 times imagining light filling your body on the in breath 4) Remembering and reciting the Reiki Principles 5) Create an open golden aura this is done by: a. Hold your hands in pray position above your head with fully extended arms b. Imaging a small bright golden ball in your hands take a few deep breaths c. Turn your hands around so the palms are facing outwards and slowly bring them down as you do imaging the ball of golden light is getting bigger and filling your whole Aura. d. Take a few slow breaths felling open and protected full of golden light. e. If you are healing someone else take a few breaths to imagine the golden aura expanding over them Finishing It is good to finish a healing with the same purpose and sacredness that you started with. If you opened yourself then it is good to close yourself (not literally closing yourself off to the light as you need to change and expand it) but it helps to ground and centre yourself so you are not left feeling dizzy and unable to sleep. Again here are some examples: 1) Meditate for 5 minutes feeling solid and connected to the ground notice how your feet or knees are connected to the floor 2) Imaging a really dark heavy black ball the size of a tennis ball below you for a few minutes 3) Imaging roots growing from you feet going down into the earth going very deep spreading and then spreading out. 4) Close the golden aura: 17
a. If you have been healing someone else draw back the aura so you are a golden egg again. b. Face you hands at your feet breath slowly and with extended arms move them slowly up until the are facing each other at the same time imaging the golden light is getting smaller until there is a football sized ball between your hands. c. Join your hands together imaging the golden ball get small enough to hold safely between your hands d. Bring the small ball down to your heart and bow crossing your hands over chest and melting the ball into your heart. Smoothing the Aura When working within someone’s aura just by moving around them will create tears and rips therefore at the end of every healing smooth out each level of the aura moving from head to toe. At each level physical, mental and emotional remember to move with grace and be gentle. Dedication At the end of each healing it is good practice to be grateful for the opportunity to use this beautiful energy and to dedicate the benefits you gained and learned from the healing to others in whatever capacity you can, here is an example that I personally use at the end of every healing but I advise you to make a personalised version that has meaning for you: Thank you for this opportunity I dedicate all benefit gained from this healing To the wellbeing of others Additional Grounding If after healing work at night when you try to sleep and you are full of energy almost pulsating then this is a good indication that you need to concentrate and put some effort into grounding yourself. There are no perfect answers I have personally found long walks in nature to help, the times when I am too full of energy laying in bed trying to sleep I have found saying a grounding affirmation for a few minutes really helps, here is an example: Thank you for this energy, please lower it to a level that I am able to handle at this time and place.
18
Self Treatment The more experience and deeper you go with Reiki the more you need to heal yourself. There is never a point where you can say I am completely healed and self treatment is not necessary anymore. Although it is ideal to heal yourself everyday try not to use this as an excuse to beat yourself with, there is no need to feel guilty if you miss a day, week or month just try your best for your capacity and situation. You can heal yourself in work at your desk or on the train by simply putting your hands on your self and breath it can be that simple it is a great way to boost yourself or deal with challenging situations. Here is a guide for the stages of a self-treatment when you have a little bit of time generally 30 minutes to an hour is enough: Turn the phone or any other outside distractions off Clean the room physically and spiritually by burning incense lighting a candle etc. Open yourself Set your intention out loud of silently Play some relaxing peaceful music Lay down and work though all of the hand positions for a few minutes each Give thanks say a small dedication Centre and ground yourself Make sure to put out any candles or incense.

20
Treating Others At Reiki I you cannot practice professionally on others but you can help your family, friends or pets. You may find that people will ask for healings, you should not actively go out to find people to heal. Try to find a local Reiki share this is a very good way of practicing and sharing knowledge. I am going to be a bit radical here and say that it is my opinion that Reiki should not be about healing or curing someone, try not to take someone’s problems onto your self regardless how pure your motivation.
Reiki is about opening a space and being pure love regardless of the outcome As a side effect of open pure love deep healing can manifest but we don’t have the vision to know what everyone needs to be fully human we are all so different all we can do is give the person energy and support for their journey to wholeness whatever that may be. When healing others there are a few ground rules:
Do not offer any miracle cure or promise of improvement. Never diagnose symptoms no matter how sure you are. Look after the person physically first you cannot effectively give Reiki if the person is not comfortable and warm. Never touch the chest area of a woman, or the genital area of anybody. Preparation Greet your client and discuss what they can expect from Reiki. Answer any questions they have. Ask them about their reasons for seeking Reiki treatment and what they expect from Reiki. Tell the client what you will be doing. Remind the recipient that you are not a medical practitioner. Reiki is never a substitute for medical treatment. This and other energy and spiritual work may on rare occasions stimulate a brief clearing period of detoxification on all levels. In a few rare cases people have felt worse before they felt better, if this does occur you should ask that if possible they come in daily for three days in a row. Repeating treatment can alleviate these rare detoxification or healing crisis symptoms. Have your client remove their shoes, glasses and any bulky jewellery, which might get caught on our hands or clothing. They will remain fully clothed. Comfortable non binding clothes are recommended. Clients do not need to remove wedding rings, dentures, small earrings, navel rings and so forth. Have the person lie down on a massage table or if none is available other sturdy table such as a 21
Kitchen or dining table with a pad of some sort, or a bench, couch, bed or floor if that is comfortable for both of you. Treatments can also be done with the client seated. Most Reiki treatments are given with the client lying down and the practitioner standing. Many practitioners sit in an office chair with wheels. Some do treatments kneeling on the floor. Whatever table or other setup you are using the client and the practitioner should both be comfortable during the treatment. You should have a light blanket available to cover them if needed. A pillow or pillows is useful for arranging for maximum comfort particularly when treating the back. Comfort can be a real concern if you do not have a face rest. You can do the treatment from the front only or have the client sit for treatment on the back if it is not practical or comfortable for them to lie face down. Sometimes emotional clearing occurs during a treatment and can result in the client crying. You should have some tissues handy in case of need. On rare occasions a recipient may feel that your hands are too hot or feel pain or discomfort in some other way. If this happens ask if they wish to stop the treatment or continue. Wash your hands before and after giving a treatment if possible. Wash your hands before the treatment to make sure your hands are clean and that you don't have any distracting odor on them. Washing your hands also helps give you time for a symbolic entry into the best mental state for the treatment. Wash your hands after the treatment as a way to distinguish your treatment time from your routine. You might carry disposable washcloths if you often do treatments “on the road”. Please don't make a big deal about it as a frantic dive to wash your hands may be quite distressing for your client. Here is a guide for the stages of a treatment; on average an hour is long enough: Turn the phone or any other outside distractions off Clean the room physically and spiritually by burning incense lighting a candle etc. This is properly best done before they arrive but if it is in their house ask for permission if it is not suitable you can do it with your mind close your eyes and fill the room with light. Welcome the person, if they have never had Reiki before tell them how Reiki works Ask for Permission to place your hands on them, if they are not comfortable with this then work in the aura just above the physical body Ask if they would like music Open yourself Set your intention out loud or silently depending on the client Work though all of the hand positions for a few minutes each Smooth their aura three times moving your hands up to the next layer each time Give thanks say a small dedication Centre and ground yourself Give your client a few minutes to rest before gently waking them Give them time to come around and give them space to share their experience as they may need some emotional support Offer some water 22

Sensations with Reiki When you begin a Reiki healing, you will probably notice certain sensations in your hands or on the clients’ body; you have to be open to anything as energy can create many different sensations. With time you will be able to use these as a guide to give more directed and effective healings. Again I have to state that sensations should not be used for definite diagnosis, they are more a sign of where the client can best use the energy. Every healer is different and the sensations can have different meanings. Below I will describe some common sensations with a general explanation. However the best way to learn these is to experiment for yourself and find out what the different sensations mean to you: Heat in your hands If you notice warmth flowing through your hands and into your patient with a healing, this usually indicates that they have some sort of physical problem but again this should not be used for diagnosis. The heat alerts you that they are responding to the healing. This is a good sign. Heat represents a strong healing is taking place. Coldness in your hands If you notice that your hands are cold when you are doing a healing on an area of a client’s body, it is generally thought that an area has had damage but has been healed at some stage. What you are picking up is scar tissue - even though the area may be healed, it is left with some scarring, internally as well as externally on the body. Leave your hands on the area until you feel warmth or just a flowing of energy, as Reiki will heal the scaring. Thus the area will be totally healed and you will remove the memory of the injury from inside of the body. You may also find that the area is also very blocked and that there is no life force energy running through to the area. They may have bad circulation problems. You need to spend a lot of time on the area to bring it back to life again and flowing with energy. Pain or Aches in the body It is quite possible you may feel pain in an area of your body when giving a treatment, if it is not caused in a obvious way then it is likely to be your physic sensor guiding you to where the pain is in the client, just say thank you and tell it to go away then move to that area on the client when it feels right in the treatment. Magnetism You may also place your hands on an area and feel a magnetic pull as if you cannot move. This is because the Reiki is telling you that you need to stay longer on the affected area. Simply go with the Reiki energy until the magnetic pulling feeling has stopped.
