Reflective Writing # 1 (5th March 2016)

Name: ZARIFAH BINTI ZAKERI Matric no: 820164 1. What are the new things you have learned? There are many thing I learned during the class season. First, how the students have the motivations based on their achievements. From that, as a teacher, we can see from their efforts, commitment and behavior of students. If their efforts high, the achievement also high. This is the common calculation for the normal person. So, as the teachers, we can see if the students have motivation or not based on the performance. In addition, I also learn about the case study. From the case study, we as a teachers cannot give the same expectations to all students. This is because they are totally differences from all perspectives. They have differences motivation. Besides that, I also learn about the historical of human motivation. The importance things why we need to learn is to know who the theorist for the main theories in human motivation however the theories are not valid to use for now. There are many theories under the human motivation such as drive theory, conditioning theory, cognitive theory and humanistic theory more focus to human motivation. For example, conditioning theory is change of behavior be affected by punishment or reward they get from what they do before and it also called classic conditioning and operant condition. the teacher give a pencil as a reward for student who get the higher marks in examination. So, from the situation, the student did not get the higher mark can more trying hard. This is because a pencil as a motivation to get the higher marks.

2. How will this benefit you as a practitioner? Talking about the benefit, because I not to be teacher yet. So, I cannot apply that theories throughout with classroom sessions. For me, this is an early preparation to face their real situation and can adapt which one that theories are suitable. But, it is very importance to me as a student now. How I can measure my motivation and also how can improve my achievement based on what l learned in this course. Taken this course can give me the right guide to improve my motivation as well. From that what I learn, I also can know how the theories proven to improve the motivation when I as an experimental material in the real situation. In other words, I can measure myself first before do the same things in my students soon. 3. What difference does it make to you current practice? There are some of difference with my current practice but not the big gap. As a normal person, I always need the support from family, friend and also environment to get the

good achievement. The attention from the near people in my life can be me more motivation to do something in life especially in study. After learned the human motivation, all that is needed as a normal person. To be more successful in the life no matter what, we need the all of that. Besides that, as a future teacher also, refer the students, we cannot sign they are stupid or bad. This is because nobody have the same skills and ability. We cannot judge them by the one bad things that they show before.
