Download Red Bull Music Academy Tokyo 2014 Application Form...
DA DA DA DUM. Here it is, the application form for this year’s Red Bull Music Academy. Disconnect yourself from your social network for a moment, take a deep breath, pick up a pen, pencil, or quill, and shut out the noise. The application form in front of you is not meant to be difficult, but instead designed to give you the opportunity to present yourself as honestly as possible. The questions that probe deepest aren’t always the easiest – but then nothing worthwhile ever took just five minutes. Every application must be turned in with an accompanying audio CD. If you make music, send us some of the stuff you produced, wrote, played or sang on. If you’re a DJ, send us a bedroom mix of your jams that's at least 30 minutes long. Might be a good idea
to put best tracks first and include just enough material to get the point across. We want to get a feel for where you are at creatively, and a strong vision will always be more important than a polished pro sound. Before you get stuck in, it would be great if you can read through this checklist:
To be selected, you need to make sure your application is complete and postmarked by March 18, 2014 – but the sooner you can send it, the better. Due to local laws, you need to be 20 years of age by October 12, 2014. Include two different photos of yourself in the application. One should be passport-sized, one a regular snapshot. Write your name and country legibly on the back of the photos. Make sure your CD is an audio CD that is playable in a standard CD player. Be confident that we won’t share your application with anyone but the application jury, or use it for anything but the selection process. Unfortunately we can’t send your CD back. Please write out the tracklist for your demo on a separate sheet of paper and include it in the CD's slipcase. Lectures and workshops at the Academy are held in English. Therefore the application form needs to be filled out in English too, by you and no one else. We are not worried about poor grammar or spelling mistakes. We need all your contact details clearly written, because we will be in touch with you to let you know if you have been selected as one of the participants for 2014. We cannot accept any half-completed questionnaires (in fact, we throw them away), so please make sure you answer each and every question on there.
Send the whole application package (questionnaire, CD with track list, two different photos – including one passport-sized headshot) to:
Red Bull Music Academy Applications Tokyo 2014 Boisseréestr. 9 – 11 50674 Cologne Germany
Unfortunately, we cannot return any material we receive, so you may want to keep a copy of whatever you submit for yourself. We also cannot provide individual feedback. But please sleep safe with the knowledge that all entries will be thoroughly considered by at least two different people from different backgrounds. For further information, read the FAQ on www.redbullmusicacademy.com or drop a line to
