INTRODUCTION Recycling Your English is for students at upper-intermediate level who wish to improve their general English and/or prepare for the Cambridge First Certificate examination (FCE) or the IGCSE in E2L. It can be used to supplement any coursebook at this level, and is suitable for use in the classroom, for homework, or for self-study. The book aims to provide: grammar, phrasal verbs, vocabulary, vocabulary, word study and writing
Recycling Your English is divided as follows: Section 1 GRAMMAR (30 units) This is the largest section of the book, covering all the major grammatical points at upper-intermediate level. Students are helped to revise and practise what they have learned, and to gain confidence in using grammar correctly correctly.. Section 2 PHRASAL VERBS (12 units) This section presents fourteen common groups of phrasal verbs and provides extensive practice in varying formats. A useful feature is the attention given to the different possible collocations of phrasal verbs which have more than one meaning. Section 3 VOCABULARY (18 units) The Vocabulary Vocabulary section presents and practises p ractises vocabulary from fifteen key topics which regularly occur in Oral and Composition papers. Section 4 WORD STUDY (6 units) This section is designed to help students gain a greater in-depth understanding of the language, and covers areas such as idioms and collocations. RECYCLING UNITS
recycled, not just those from the previous group of units. Section 5 WRITING (11 units) The Writing section offers clear guidance on a variety of different d ifferent writing tasks, with model answers, notes on style and register, and useful expressions to learn and practise, as well as help with spelling and self-correction. TESTS (8 tests) The Tests enable students to check their overall progress in assimilating the main points in the book. They also provide valuable extensive practice in dealing with examination-type exercises.

INTRODUCTION
How should Recycling Your English be used? Teachers using the book as supplementary material should feel free to dip in and out of units and sections as appropriate. However, in Section 1 working alone are recommended to work through units chronologically. chronologically. Each section is independent of the others and can be used at any stage, except for the the TESTS. These should ideally be used at the very end, after all the other sections have been covered, when better results will be obtained. Tests can be done in class, individually, individually, in pairs or small groups, or treated as a class quiz, with teams of students calling out answers, or set as homework.
The Fourth Edition The book has been revised throughout to take account of the revisions to the FCE syllabus. It has been expanded to include a new Writing unit on Reviews.
Other books in the series This book is part of a series by the same sam e author, ranging from elementary to advanced levels.
Recycling Elementary English is for elementary students, and those preparing for the Cambridge Key English Test (KET). Recycling Intermediate English is for lower-intermediate to intermediate students, and for those preparing for the Cambridge Preliminary Prelim inary English Test (PET) (PET).. Recycling Advanced English is for advanced students, and those studying study ing for the Cambridge Cambridge Certif Certificate icate in Advance Advanced d Englis English h (CAE) or the Certificate of Proficiency in English (CPE) examinations.
