Reaction Paper State of the Nation Address 2016 As I have read and heard the SONA for 2016, President Rodrigo R. Duterte opened his speech with a sentence, “I will not waste time dwelling on past sins. Vindictiveness is not in my system”. It clearly says what it meant, President Rodrigo is looking forward to all he can do to change the current administration of our country and has no time to blame the previous administration for its shortcomings. He then said that fighting against crime and corruption is relentless so he promised not to stop until the last drug lord is behind bars. These kind of statements will surely make our police officers fulfill their responsibilities until it’s been satisfied. Taking on more account, President Duterte also mentioned numerous subjects to almost everything from having peace from other parties, health, tax and government issues as to how to improve it and how to implement the change as soon as possible. With these big subjects on hand, there’s no doubt that there will be small subject also. These subjects will be about the implementation of free wifi from public places likes parks, LRT, MRT and government offices. All of this is good and I have no say about it but what bothers me is President Duterte failed to include in this speech of his is our current education and environment state. How could he forget to mention the change he made from banning people from drinking from public places, the restriction of using videoke because of a sole purpose, to avoid additional sound pollution from places to places. The cleanliness that the people started from themselves even before President Duterte seated as the president should be included and taken on account because of how fast it was implemented. We can have the example of divisoria from one of the most crowded and dirty place for wholesale and retail trades and purchases to becoming one of the cleanest and peaceful place that had change. If you will look at the internet for proof, you would see the drastic changes the place has overtaken. There has no small side-shops blocking the road, trash have been properly disposed of and people are not crowded in the place. This kind of change is only implemented here but all over the country. Little by little, we are making an effort to stop old habits and pursue to new ones. Ones that can help us improve our lifestyle and benefits our environment. One another thing that needs to have an opinion is how President Duterte didn’t include/mention the current state of our education system. Falling into place after the implementation of the K-12 curriculum, almost all of the schools here in our countries are still have some major and minor problems related to it. The DepEd should be more responsible as to monitor and handle all the senior and junior students who have moved up this year. The public needs more information regarding this matter because these things don’t have enough public attention. President Rodrigo should have shared his focus on this matter because education does matter. This is the foundation of the youth and the future of our country. This is not an easy matter to withstand upon but looking at our Presidents determination about our country, I think he would tackle these matters soon enough. President Rodrigo top priority for now is eradicating corruption in the government and reducing criminality to zero making our country safe enough to be able to feel comfortable at walking at night. This presidential term could be the one we need for

and the one we have waited for. I am looking forward to all President Duterte’s upcoming SONA for the country and world to know our achievements and improvements from him and his administration management and for the good of our country.
