My interview experience., @ Chennai 22nd.
Sardar was head of panel . But i still remember the next member(the one with spectacle) was head last time. One of the other member is the regional director of chennai office. So , i guess they swap one or two of their members each office. Not sure. 1. Sardarji - From bio data about my hobbies. He watches closely when i answer towards other members which i appreciate very much . 2. Next member(panel head for me - last year) framed questions from work experience , why quit/tend to quit last job and took up from there. 3. M3 asked about Forex managment ? Adequate Reserves ? Some risks associated with it ?, 4.NPA framework ? Stressed advances ? Provisions ?
5.Lady-> Alternate Channel developments related ., Rupay ? and sardar intervened there in few questions and tested further. Should i sum up , that was hurried interview may be they were testing my stress levels. By contradicting my answers / drilling deep kept me in discomfort sometimes, Typical stress interview. My best wishes friends . Please do not get into any assumption with this experience & some one might have said earlier that they were easy too. It depends on situation. They are experienced and rate us in coherence with the situation provided to us. Again , all the best.

Hi puys....finally had a pleasant sleep last night...after a long time(2 months)....well then coming to my interview experience....here it is... Qua: B.Com, ICWA(Inter) Experience: 0(fresher) verification started at 9...and they said that the interviews will start at 10 AM....by 10 only 4 verifications were done....but they started right on time...the frst one was called at 10 for interview...nothing serious in the verification process...they were pleasant and just went on with their work... My number was 15, out of the 15 that have been called for....so i had to wait and it was good to wait because i came to know all the experiences of the 14(13 actually) candidates......during the wait...some of us interacted and ankit gupta was also there with us...he was number 11...anyways heres the interview Me: May I come in Sir! M1(Sardarji): Yes please come in... Me: Good morning Sirs and Madam....(forgot to wish the madam first...)and if I may...Wish you all a Happy New Year.... There were five, sardarji(M1) in the center, lady(F1) in the left corner, two(M2 & M3)) on each side of sardarji and one M who has a pen and paper up his face and doing something.......(M4) 3 out of 5: Thank you and wish you the same(smiling and looking at each other) please take your seat...... Me: thank you sir...... M1: so Mr.Vihari...what is this ICWA that you have mentioned here...(I gave that as my additional qual)... Me: explained the purpose of CWA and its contrast from CA and what exactly happens at both the levels....... M1: what are controlled costs...... explained.... M1: what comes under controlled costs....variable or fixed and examples explained...M4 still busy with the pen and paper M2: What do you think is the rank of india in investment or for doing business......
couldn't understand what he meant...so asked again for clarity he said...what is your opinion as an investor whether you want to invest in india or not..... explained the current benefits to investors and the changes in the govt's attitude towards FDI and FII and how it is favourable to the investors....... M2: what is black money..... explained....using the income tax evasion as an example....M4 still doing something...i felt like he was making a sketch of my face on the paper...with the paper straight to his face and looking occasionally at me....... M3: what are its sources other than evading incometax explained M3: what other exams are you preparing for...... gave the frank answer of IBPS and Insurance AOs... M3: who is a wilful defaulter.... explained..and used the word insolvency..... M3: are there any particular laws for insolvenccy....... didnt get his intention correctly.....asked for clarity Sardarji intervened M1: Any acts in india which specifically deal with Insolvency... accepted that i dont know any specific act like that.....M4 finished the sketch but not opening his mouth........ F1: as an investor what are the accounting ratios you see in a bank... thought that she wanted only normal accounting ratios so i gave a few profitability and capital adequacy ratios... she said she want something which an investor wants to know... then i mentioned about the EPS, P/E, Debt-Equity, dividend yield ratio, solvency ratio, etc....
but i see that she was not satisfied...but said that ok no need to go deep....... M1 looked at others and they nodded....and he said Ok thank you Mr.Vihari you can go now...... Thank you sir...have a good day.......... guys overall it was like my knowledge on graduation rather than the economics or current affairs(and i am quiet happy about that).... most of the guys who went before me said the same thing....like focus was on the graduation subjects.........even ankit was asked alot of graduation subject.......i am not saying that only that will be asked but brush your graduation as well........there are guys who have finished their degree in 2011 or so and preparing for their civils or doing some job....but you also need to go through your graduation before attending the interview....mine went good and hope to see a result with my number in it.......thank you for your support and wishes.......specifically mnrnjnbhr and star4093..thank you guys hope you do well as well......
Interview experience 7th Jan, 15 Venue: Hyderabad Background: BE (Comp engg)+ MBA, Finance and interational trade (IIFT, Delhi)+ 16 months of work exp with a trading firm. Interview duration: 18-20 minutes Pleasantries exchanged Sardarji starts: I like the words and adjectives you have used in your bio data "avid reader, good singer, decent photographer, lone wanderer" Questions on music (english 60s, 70s, Indian bands) Questions on choice of books (abstract, philosophy, random) why abstract? recent books read (a lot of haruki murakami) what/who was kafka? few other books. Panelist 2: which is the latest FTP (09-14)? incentives for exporters( FPS, MLFPS, DEPB, etc) difference b/w FPS and MLFPS? A question on MLFPS regarding its intention which I couldn't answer. Panelist 3: Share of India's exports in world trade, why so low? what's wrong with Indian export sector? why hasn't the export growth picking rate? Panelist 4: Have you heard about make in India? What is it? What has Rajan been saying? Why? make an assessment. why so much hullabaloo ? who is right?(of course Rajan cos you want to join RBI, everybody laughs :-/) What is interest subvention? Is it a subsidy? Panelist 5 (the lady): What is EEFC? what's the funda? what guidelines did RBI give wrt EEFC to combat the currency outflow? That's all. Was quite chilled. I wished for it to be longer but i think they were hungry(were talking about lunch before starting my interview). fingers crossed.
nsights from a friend whom I recently met in my cousion's wedding. He is sweet guy & shared his experience. He had an unusually short interview which lasted hardly 15 minutes. Some "questions": 1. Why is the economy is a halt, some reasons. 2. difference between Gov. & ordinary account ( He works @ CAG) 3. What is FRBMA, 2-3 features of it. 4. Some 5 minutes interview on Hobby - jogging, .... I don't know. 5. Why is RBI not lowering repo rate? 6. Keynesian economics theory? The "WISDOM": 1. You will surely be asked your hobby if you have written something wacky out there. You will also have questions related to any thing that stands out in your biodata. ( Some smart people may have decorated their CV accordingly) 2. Don't expect very technical questions unless you show(in interview/on through your biodata) that you are an expert in an area. 3. Don't give a technical or a deep answer to the General questions asked, you would further invite related questions & would increase the chances of errors in later questions. The central idea is to be humble. this can be done by giving very short, precise answers. 4. Make sure you don't get questions from your biodata wrong. If questions are asked from your subjects try giving some answers as you won't be able to evade them and they will start piling up more than general questions.
Interview Experience Profile MBA from IIFT Delhi Experience of MMTC(1.5 years), SBI and Entrepreneurship for (3 years) 3rd Dec Delhi (Total 6 panel members) 1. Where did you learn Marathi from. Next 5 mins of interview went on Marathi only like Grammar and script and all 2. Why Left SBI . It was a good career opportunity for you: Answer : I Left it for higher studies. 3. Why Leaving MMTC , it is in line with your IIFT academics. Explained telling abt interest in banking sector and how I can use my experience in RBI 4. Balance of Payments, Deemed Exports , Duty Drawback Arbitrage and CASA. Was grilled on Deemed exports and Arbitrage 5. What was your role during your 4 months short stay in SBI 6. What else did you do in Pune (I was posted in Pune main branch of SBI) Why Pune is famous: Told about IT, Automobile, Education industry, NDA , 7. Asked about my experience as an entrepreneur. major learning and reason for closing it down. That's it. Mixed feeling about it as I got confused in some of the technical questions. All the best guys.
interview date - 27 nov 2014 the very first question by the chairman of the panel - You have done Btech, Mtech why do u want to join RBI? Ans - decided to prepare for govt jobs right after the grad..but enrolled in Mtech coz didnt felt it thoughtful to sit idle and just prepare for competition.. the why in the field of economics and finance?? Ans - those days are gone when a less developed economy could subjugate another merely on the basis of its defence sector's strength..now is the era of economics...a country is revered globally on the basis of its economic might.. then i gave the example of north korea...high spending on defence but people dont know how to operate an ATM.. Chairman gave me 2 counter examples - Russia and China...couldnt counter him ..and then topic was changed Chairman started the debate of socialism and communism...which one is better..asked when socialist term was added to preamble..thnx to UPSC prepn 42nd Amd Act 1976...then he asked another term which was added..couldnt recall.. another member then came to my rescue..he asked the chairman to change the topic...then the chairman asked a few questions on simple economics - why should we promote economic devt and all..n another member asked about India being underbanked overbanked or what and why? how many bank branches in India (asked for approx no.) another member asked about financial inclusion, business correspondents, business facilitators..answered all but business facilitators.. lady member asked about notification regarding the notes prior to 2005 not to be henceforth valid..reason and why..told her to prevent money laundering,...what is money laundering?? thats it..20-25 mins
h
ere I go..mine was today.. panel was chill..although I wasn't ...it lasted for only 15 mins (bcz lunch time was close so they were just trying to cut short the time, i think so) - focus was majorly on your bio data - in my case started with me previous employer (a Navratan ) -work profile there..and some more questions -questions on my gap (I left job and was preparing for civil services) -some current related topics (fed reserved tapering, FDI, FII) - some general questions on deplorable conditions in India in some fields -again question about civil service preparation -some sports related (hobby related) broadly they covered these aspects for me...and I think for most of other guys also they focused mainly on their bio data..
@all...I think I am the first one to share my experience here..all the best to all
Grade B Interview experience. (04/02/2015, New Delhi) I was first to be interviewed… Time taken- 18 to 20 minutes Chairman: You have got an interesting profile. You are postgrad in economics and selected as Assistant Commissioner(commercial taxes). Do you really want to join RBI? Answer: definitely sir! (Should have explained more why I want to join RBI, but didn’t get the chance to explain myself) Chairman: you have mentioned in your bio data that your area of interest includes defence issues! What kind of issues you like? Answer: both operational aspect and strategic issues. operational issues like deployment of armed forces, their warfare doctrine, operational impediments etc. strategic issues includes Indian military strength and its underlying role in achieving our foreign policy objectives, relations with our neighbours, threats and opportunities etc. Chairman: do you agree with the practice of deployment of armed forces for civilian purposes? Answer: sir, armed forces are deployed in civilian areas for counter insurgency operations and calamity relief duties. Ideally armed forces should not be deployed for civilian duties. Chairman: why? Answer: armed forces need to be moved from their operational deployment duties and this compromises the security of that area. Moreover they are not trained for calamity relief duties. Since our NDRF mechanism is not robust enough to take care of it, we have to call our armed forces for such duties as they are the most organised and disciplined force to do the task. It’s the inefficiency of civilian administration which requires deployment of these forces. Member 1: why India lost 1962 war with China? Answer: there were many reasons for India’s defeatlack of preparedness for a war on eastern front, topographical constraints (explained how china is fortunate to have a flat topography on its side of the border while India faces a very steep terrain which makes it impossible for India to quickly deploy its forces while china can deploy it within a short notice), obsolete machinery and poor border infrastructure. Member 1: there was a report on 1962 war… do you think it should be put in public space? Answer: Sir, Henderson Brook report on 1962 war contained much sensitive information which government conceived as too crucial to be released in public domain, but in my opinion it should be declassified now so that we can learn from our past mistakes. India need to have a clear cut time bound declassification policy. Member 2 (Lady Member): it has been observed that china intrudes in our territory quite often and we are not able to respond in an effective way... what can be possible solution? Answer: Mam, frankly speaking ground reality is that we cannot have a military solutions to these problems because we cannot match the Chinese militarily strength on our eastern front. We can adopt a balanced two pronged approach of adopting diplomatic pressures as well as developing robust military infrastructure on eastern border to counter Chinese pressures. Member 3: tell us about the recent changes in the monetary policy statement? Answer: repo rates, CRR etc has been kept unchanged and only SLR has been reduced by 50 basis points from 22% to 21.5%. Member 3: what does it means? Answer: it means that banks now need to invest less in G-secs and it has resulted in infusion of Rs.45000 crores liquidity in the banking system. In simple terms, Banks now have more money now to lend further. Member 3: what else was there in monetary policy statement apart from policy rates? Answer: Under liberalised remittance scheme, limit increased to $ 250,000. (When asked to describe this scheme, instead of saying it as outward remittance scheme I described it as an inward remittance scheme...big blunder)
Member 4: it is said that ‘India owed its forex reserves while china owned it’. What does it means? Answer: Sir, china has a current account surplus and therefore its forex reserves are earned, India on the other hand has a current account deficit and most of the forex reserves are a result of capital account inflows and therefore are owed. There were some more questions which I am not able to recollect. Special thanks to Susheel Ragade sir for his guidance and support.

What applications you developed? Why have you left the job? You have been member of IBM community service club , it's good. but it's just hobby or it's abiding? from where this is inculcated in you... family/school/college ? My Replies to:: C: I was Application Developer and I developed both web-based and mobile based hybrid applications which can be used on any type of operating system like Android, IOS, Windows, etc.I left my job because my leave request for exam preparation wasn't approved. Spirit of service is inculcated in me as family values and school values and it's not just a hobby. MY INTERVIEW EXPERIENCE You have mentioned that you won medal in tennikoit. So what is tennikoit? This is the first time i am hearng such a word. Explain me that game. So you have done electrical and electronics engineering. Worked with an mnc like hcl. HCL was growing rapidly in the last few years. So what was your work in HCL. Now HCL is inclining towards hardware. So what is HCL's line of business. Apart from being in IT department in IOB what else have you learnt about IOB?
