Upon hearing this, Hazrat Ali (RA) told the Prophet that he would read these eve ry night before going to sleep." "When My servants ask thee concerning Me, I am indeed close (to them): I listen to the prayer of every suppliant when he calls on Me: let them also, with a will , listen to My call, and believe in Me: that they may walk in the right way." Chapter 10: Surah Yunus If there has been a misunderstanding in your family and you want to know who is at fault, write this Surah together with the name of all family members, and the problem will be solved.

Chapter 11: Surah Hud If you recite this Surah on Friday, you will be with the Prophet (SAWW) on the D ay of Judgement. All your sins will be forgiven and you will get the position of a martyr. Whosoever has a desire to fulfill let him recite Suratul Hud 13 times Chapter 12: Surah Yusuf The reciter of this Surah will be safe from envy. Pangs of death will be made ea sy. If you write this Surah and drink its water, you ll have good luck and sustena nce. Chapter 13: Surah Ar Ra ad Recitation of this Surah increases sustenance and makes you triumphant against e nemies. Even thunder declares the Glory of Allah (SWT). Chapter 14: Surah Ibrahim Pray 2 rakaat every Friday (in 1st rakaa, Surah Ibrahim and 2nd rakaa Surah Al H ijr) after Surah al Fatihah, to be safe from sudden calamity and poverty. Chapter 15: Surah Hijr To prosper in business, tie this Surah on your hand or keep it in your pocket. Chapter 16: Surah An Nahl Recite every month to be safe from debts and calamities. Chapter 17: Surah Bani Israel If you recite this Surah on every Thursday night, you will see the 12th Imam bef ore you die. If a child is stammering, or does not have clear speech, write this Surah, soak in water and let him drink, he will be able to talk clearly. Chapter 18: Surah Al Kahf To wake up from sleep at a certain time, recite the last ayah of this Surah. If you recite this Surah every Thursday night, you ll die the death of a martyr. If y ou write this Surah in a bottle with narrow neck, you will be safe from debt, po verty and other problems. If you recite the last ayah of this Surah before sleep ing, a light will appear and it will go till the Holy Qa aba and the angels will p ray for you. If the person is in Mecca, the light will go to Al bayt ul Ma mun and angels will pray for him. Chapter 19: Surah Maryam If you keep this Surah with you, you ll have good dreams. If this Surah is hung on the wall, you will be protected from thieves and frightened people will become calm. Chapter 20: Surah Taha By reciting this Surah regularly, your book of accounts will be given to you in your right hand on the Day of Judgement. If a man writes this Surah on a green s ilk cloth and goes to a family where he intends to get married, he will not be r efused. When a girl wants to get married she must bathe with the water that this Surah was soaked in. If anyone wishes to get married, he should write ayah 131132 and tie on his hand. Chapter 21: Surah Al Anbiya When one cannot sleep owing to fear and worry, the person should tie his Surah t o ones waist. Chapter 22: Surah Al Hajj The reciter of this Surah will get rewards of all previous and future pilgrims. If one recites this Surah on every third day, he will go for Hajj in the same ye ar and if he dies while going he will go straight to heaven.

Chapter 23: Surah Al Mu minoon To stop someone from drinking alcohol, write this Surah on a white cloth and tie it to your neck. Recite this Surah regularly and be happy at the time of dying. Chapter 24: Surah An Nur Recite this Surah day and night and none of your family member will be in troubl e. Also 70,000 angels will follow the funeral and pray for your forgiveness. Chapter 25: Surah Al Furqan The reciter of this Surah will enter Paradise on the Day of Judgement without ac counting for anything, on one condition that he must have faith. Keep this Surah on you to ward off dangerous pests. Chapter 26: Surah Ash Shu ara Every illness can be cured if this Surah is soaked and the water drunk. You ll be protected from drowning/burning and be safe form wrongful death. Recite this Surah and reap the reward tenfold as many mu minoon and mu minaat. Chapter 27: Surah An Naml The reward of this Surah is to stand on the day of Judgement reciting Shahadatai n. Chapter 28: Surah Al Qasas This Surah when soaked in rainwater and drunk may cure stomach and liver pains. Soak the Surah in water, drink and help dispel all your doubts and misgivings, s orrows and grief. Chapter 29: Surah Al Ankabut Relieve malaria, cold, heaviness of chest by drinking the water this Surah has b een soaked in. Recite this Surah and sleep like a baby. Chapter 30: Surah Ar Rum As many angels there are between the heavens and earth, the reciter of this Sura h will be rewarded ten times as many good deeds. Chapter 31: Surah Luqman Soak the Surah in water to alleviate all types of diseases as well as relief fro m severe stomach problems. Chapter 32: Surah As Sajda Write this Surah on deerskin and receive tons of proposals. Keep the Surah on yo u and be safe from fevers, headaches and pain of joints. Recite this at night an d Allah (SWT) would give the records of deeds in the right hand. Chapter 33: Surah Al Ahzab Write on deerskin and keep it in a casket at home, all good marriage proposals w ill be brought. If you teach this Surah to all at home, the pangs of the grave w ill be kept against you. Good deeds will be written for you and you ll be close to the Ahlulbayt on the Day of Qiyamah. Chapter 34: Surah As Sabaa Reciter of this Surah and Surah Fatir will stay in peace at night. and if recite d at daytime, no unpleasant incident will occur. You will get good in the world and the hereafter. Write this Surah, tie it on you, and be protected form danger ous animals. Chapter 35: Surah Al Fatir Recite ayah 42 of this Surah and your headache will be cured.

Chapter 36: Surah Yaseen Recite Surah Yaseen and your sins are forgiven. Recite regularly and the rewards are equal to completing the Holy Quran twelve times. If you recite this Surah f or a sick person, angels will pray for his forgiveness and at time of death they will also attend his funeral. Written with rosewater and Saffron and drunk for 7 days, one s memory would be that he would memorise what he listens. If in disput e one would win. Produces much milk for a weaning mother. Be blessed with health, wealth and children. Allah (SWT) will keep him saf e from evils of shaitan and he will die the death of a martyr. If read over a dy ing person, he will pass away peacefully and easily. Chapter 38: Surah Saad Recite regularly; you will be saved from committing big and small sins. Chapter 39: Surah Az Zumar Allah (SWT) bestows great honours and onlookers will respect you, if you recite this Surah. Keep the Surah on you and everyone will praise you. Also the fire of hell will not touch you. Increases love between Husband and Wife. Chapter 40: Surah Al Mu min Purification of the heart. Past and future sins are forgiven. On the second day give out its reward to Leader of the believers, Ali Almurtadha (AS). On the third day give out its reward to the Queen of believing women, Fatima Azz ahra (AS). On the fourth day give out its reward to the Grandson of the Prophet, Imam Hasan Almujtaba (AS). On the fifth day give out its reward to the loved on e of the Prophet, Imam Husain, Leader of the martyrs. And when you finish on the fifth day say: Allahumma laqad istashfa atu ilaika bil khamsati azama I fasalli alai him waqdhi hajatiy. 9e) For Getting Needs: Recite surah Yasin, and when you reach verse 58, repeat i t 70 times, and say what your needs are, then complete the Surah. 9f) When under stress: Recite surah Yasin with composure, and whenever you reach a verse with the word m ubin , beseech Allah on your needs. Sad (Sad) Recite regularly; you will be saved from committing big and small sins. 39. Az-Zumar (the Groups) Allah (SWT) bestows great honours and onlookers will respect you, if you recite this Surah. Keep the Surah on you and everyone will praise you. Also the fire of hell will not touch you. Increases love between Husband and Wife. 40. Ghafar (the Forgiver) Purification of the heart. Past and future sins are forgiven. Kept at the place of work, it brings prosperity. If one has white/black spots/pimples/boils, keep this Surah on you to get cured. Soak it, use the water to make dough, dry and gr ind, take a pinch to cure liver, spleen, heart, trembling problems and unconscio usness. 41. Ha Meem Sajda or Fusilat (Distinguished) The messenger of Allah (salAllahu alayhi wasalam) said, Everything has its fruit and benefits, and the fruit of the Qur an is Ha-Meem (another name for Surah al-Fu ssilat). Chapters beginning with Ha-Meem are beautiful, fresh, fragrant, splendi d mesdows. Whosoever desires to walk around in the mesdows of Paradise should re cite these surahs [Al-Tadhkar Fi Afdal Al-Adhkar by Imam al-Qurtubi] Write in a utensil, wash with water and knead flour with that water, make balls, dry it and grind it. If this surah is written and kept as a talisman, it becomes a means of protectio n and drinking water in which this surah has been dissolved is especially good f or those intending to travel as it provides for a journey without unforeseen pro blems. Al-Qamar (the Moon) The best time to recite this surah is at night and this carries the highest rewa rd. The one who recites this surah will have a mount from Jannah on which he wil l sit when he wakes from his grave. Whoever keeps this surah under his cap or tu rban at the time of Jumu ah prayers will be highly respected by the people and his difficulties will be eased. Whoso recites t his surah is like that very rich man who gives away in charity all that which he has; and if the reciter is not a man of means, Allah would provide for him favo urable turn of circumstances and divine guidance, he would be guarded wherever h e might be, many benefits would be made available to him; he would be a amiable and popular man among the people; Allah would increase his means of sustenance a nd he would be freed from losses, worries and poverty. " Imam al-Sadiq (as) is quoted saying that whoever recites this Sura in his obli gatory or optional prayers will be granted victory by Allah over his foes. In Fi gh al-Rida (as), it is stated that if one recites this Chapter in an optional or obligatory prayer, Allah will grant him victory over all his enemies and will e nable him to perform what is obligatory. 111. A voluminous book can be written only about the merits of the Chapters of the Ho ly Qur an. The Messenger of Allah (pbuh) is quoted saying, "Whoever recites al-Tkh las will be as though he has recited one third of the Holy Qur an and will be gran ted ten good deeds for each and everyone who believed in Allah, His angels, His books, His messengers, and the Day of Judgement ." He (pbuh) has also said, "If someone recites it once, he will be blessed; if he recites it twice, he and his family will be blessed." Imam Ali ibn Abu Talib (as) has said, " Whoever recites i t eleven times after fajr prayers will be safeguarded against committing any sin that day despite Satan s nose." AI-Bataini quotes Sayf ibn Ameerah quoting Abu Bak r al-iladrami quoting Abu Abdullah Imam al-Sadiq (as) saying, "Whoever believes in Allah and the Last Day ought to recite Surat al-lkhlas after each obligatory prayer, for whoever recites it will gain the good of this life and the life to c ome, and Allah will forgive him, his parents, and their offspring." One particul ar incident related by al-Majlisi with reference to this great Chapter is worth quoting here as narrated by Anas, a companion of the Prophet (pbuh), thus: We were once in the company of the Messenger of Allah (pbuh) at Tabuk. The sun r ose one day with rays and light the like of which we had never seen before. The Messenger of Allah (pbuh) kept wondering about its light and rays. Suddenly Gabr iel (as) came tp him, so he (pbuh) asked him, "What is with the sun, O Gabriel, and what is with its light and illumination and rays which I have never seen bef ore?" Gabriel (as) said, "This is due to Mu awiyah ibn Mu awiyah al-Laythi (al-Mazn i) who died today in Medina; so Allah sent seventy thousand angels to perform th e prayers on his soul." "What for?" asked the Prophet (pbuh). "He used to recite Surat al-Ikhlas quite often," Gabriel (as) answered, as he stood, sat, or walked , during the night or the day." Then the Prophet (pbuh) turned to us and said, " Recite it as much as you can, for it denotes your Lord; if one recites it fifty times, Allah will raise him fifty thousand degrees and remove from him fifty tho usand sins and record for him fifty thousand good deeds, and if one recites it m ore, Allah will give him more." Ibn al-Mutawakkil quotes Muhammad al-Attar who quotes al-Ash ari quoting Abmed ibn Hilal quoting Lisa ibn Abdullah quoting his forefathers quoting Imam Ali ibn Ab u Talib (as) citing the Messenger of Allah (pbuh) saying, "If someone recites Su rat al-Ikhlas when he goes to bed, Allah will forgive the sins he committed in f ifty years." Imam Abu Abdullah al-Sadiq (as) is quoted by Sulayman ibn Khalid, o ne of his companions, saying, a recorded on pp. 349-350, Vol. 89, of Bihar al-An war, and on p. 213 of Thawab al-A mat, "If three days pass away and one does not recite Surat al-Ikhlas in any of his prayers, he will be forsaken and conviction will be stripped from his neck, and if he dies during these three days, he will be regarded a sone who disbelieved in Allah, the Great," 113. Al-Falaq (the Daybreak) 1) If Recited in wajib salaa in Ramadhan, it is as though one has fasted in Makk a and thawab of hajj. Out of the numerous actions that have been recomm ended, there are a few verses of the Holy Qur an that have also been prescribed an d carry much reward if recited after the daily prayers. The following is a list of the verses that should be recited and a note of the r

eward gained for the recitation of each one. 1. Ayah ash-Shahada (Surah Ali- Imran: 18-19) In the commentary of Majma ul Bayaan, it is narrated from the Holy Prophet that those who recite this ayah make a cove nant with Allah (S.w.T.) and Allah always fulfils His covenants. If this ayah is recited after every prayer, then Jannah is guaranteed to the reciter. 2. Ayah al-Mulk (Surah Ali- Imran: 26-27) It is narrated that the Holy Prophet (S) once advised one of his companions, who was in debt, to recite this ayah after every prayer and then supplicate to Allah (S.w.T.) for the repayment of his debt s saying that even if the debts are equal to the entire land on Earth, they will be repaid. 3. Ayah al-Kursi (Surah al-Baqarah: 255-257) It is narrated from the Holy Prophe t (S) that there is no barrier between the person who recites this ayah after ev ery prayer and Jannah except for death ie. he will be taste the pleasures of Jan nah immediately after his death, and only that person will be able to recite it who is pious and righteous. 4. Ayah al-Madhkurah (Surah ar-Rum: 17-22) Whoever recites this after every comp ulsory prayer will get a reward equal to drops of rain and grains of sand. The H oly Prophet (S) has highly recommended the recitation of this ayah especially du ring the early morning and evening times. 5. Ayah as-Sakhrah (Surah A araaf: 54) This should also be recited after every pra yer. The benefit of reciting this ayah is that it acts as a protection from Shai tan. It is said that the one who recites this ayah is protected against the plot s of Shaitan even if he is alone in the desert. Other recitations are also recommended, for example, it is said in a narration t hat whoever recites Surah at-Tawhid after prayers will wed a Hur-ul-Ein in Janna h. It is recommended that Surah at-Tawhid be recited ten times after every praye r and this leads to being forgiven be Allah (S.w.T.) and being blessed with the good of this world and the hereafter. For the sake of brevity, here is a list of ayaat and Surahs that are also recomm ended to be recited after prayers: a) Surah al-Ahzaab: 56 b) Surah al-Baqarah: 285-286 c) Surah al-Kahf: 109-110 d) Surah as-Saffaat: 1-10 and then the last three ayaat. e) Surah ar-Rahman: 33-36 f) Surah al-Hashr: 21-24 g) Surah al-An aam: 1-3 h) Surah al-Falaq, an-Naas, ar-Rahman al-Qadr, al-Fatehah, Ya Sin, al-Waaqiyah, al-Mulk, ad-Dahar and an-Naba are all recommended. Verses to be recited before sleeping It is narrated that whoever recites [Surah al-Fatir: 41] before going to sleep i s kept safe from the collapse of his home on top of him. Imam Ali (a.s.) has sai d that if a person recites [Surah al-A araaf: 196] and [Surah az-Zumar: 67] before going to sleep, he will be safe from drowning (if he is sleeping on a ship) or burning (in his home). Recitation of [Surah al-Kahf: 110] is good for making a person wake up at a part icular time. All that has to be done is to make an intention of the exact time y ou wish to wake up and then recite this ayah before sleeping. Surah at-Takathur is also recommended and the Holy Prophet (S) said that whoever recites it before sleeping will be saved from the horrors of the grave. Recitations specifically for Thursday nights and Fridays

It is recorded that if a person recites Surah Bani-Isra il on Thursday night, he w ill meet the 12th Imam (a.t.f.) and will be among his companions. The one who re cites Surah al-Kahf will die a martyr and will be raised with the martyrs on the Day of Judgement. Whoever recites Surah Saad on Thursday night will be blessed with good in this w orld and good in the hereafter to such an extent that nobody except the prophets and those who are very close to Allah (S.w.T.) will get a similar reward. If Surah ad-Dukhan is recited on this night, all his sins will be forgiven. He w ill get the reward equivalent to that of freeing a thousand slaves for each lett er he recites and seventy thousand angels will pray for his sins to be forgiven. The one who recites Surah al-Waqi ah will be counted from the friends of Allah (S .w.T.). The other Surahs that have been recommended on Thursday nights are Surah an-Naml, al-Qasas and Hamim Sajdah. On the day of Friday, the Surahs that are highly recommended are Surah al-Ikhlaa s, an-Naas, al-Falaq, at-Tawba, al-Kahf, as-Saffaat, ar-Rahman, an-Nisaa, Hud an d al-Qadr. All these carry great reward and should be recited if possible. Imam Ali (a.s.) has said that whoever recites Surah an-Nisaa on Fridays will be prote cted from the torments of the grave. The one who recites Surah Hud will be count ed with the prophets and messengers and his sins will be forgiven. The benefit of reciting Surah al-Kahf is that all sins of the past week are forg iven. Imam Ja far as-Sadiq (a.s.) said that if a person recites Surah as-Saffaat o n this day, he will be protected from all calamities and misfortunes. The one wh o recites Surah ar-Rahman will have a shining face on the Day of Judgement. It is also recommended to recite [at-Tawba:128-129] and [al-Hashr: 21-24] on Fri day mornings. Recitations for increase in sustenance It is narrated that writing Surah al-Mu min at night and then keeping it in one s pl ace of business increases sustenance. Keeping Surah al-Hijr in one s pocket or tie d to the arm is also a means of increase in livelihood. Surah al-Qaari ah should b e worn around the neck and Surah al-Waaqi ah should be recited every night to stay independent in terms of earning an income. Reciting Surah adh-Dhariyaat every d ay also increases sustenance. Writing [al-Fatir: 29-30] and keeping it at the place of trade also acts as a me ans of increase in income. Keeping [al-Jumu ah: 4] together with your goods for sa le brings blessing and keeps the goods safe from damage. Drinking water in which Surah Yusuf has been dissolved (after writing) also increases sustenance. Verses that help to quickly repay debts As mentioned earlier, ayah al-Mulk [Ali- Imran: 26-27] should be recited for those who wish to repay their debts. One should recite this ayah and then supplicate to Allah (S.w.T.) that he wishes to repay his debts and seeks help for doing so. For the same purpose, the last two verses of Surah al-Baqarah should also be re cited after every Isha prayer. Abu Huraira (Radiahallahu Anhu) says that Nabi (Sallallahu alayhi wasallam) made me the guardian of the Zakaat of Ramadaan. One thief began to steal from it. I caught him and told him that I am definitely going to take him to Rasulallaah (S allallahu alayhi wasallam). He said,"Leave me, I am destitute and have a family" . I (Abu Huraira) left him. In the morning Rasulallaah (Sallallahu alayhi wasall am) asked , "What did your prisoner do last night.?" I (Abu Huraira) said, He sp oke of his great need and family for which I felt pity on him and left him." Nab i (Sallallahu alayhi wasallam) said,"He has spoken a lie and will definitely com e again." I (Abu harraira) understood that the (the thief) will definitely come again because Nabi (Sallallahu alayhi wasallam) said so. Thus I kept watch at th at same barn. He (the thief) came and began stealing in handfuls. I caught him a nd threatened to take him to Rasulallaah (Sallallahu alayhi wasallam). The thief pleaded with me to leave him as he was needy and had a family and that he will not repeat this. I (Abu Huraiah) felt pity and left him. In the morning Rasulall aah (Sallallahu alayhi wasallam) asked him the same question as before and his a nswer was the same. When the same thing happened for the third time, Abu Huraira h said to the thief,"This is the third time. Each time you say that you will not steal again and each time you steal again." The thief said,"Leave me, and I wil l teach you such words through which Allaah will benefit you.". I (Abu Huraira) inquired about those words and the thief said,"When you go to your sleeping plac e, then recite Ayatul Kursi completely. Allaah will stipulate a guardian for you and Shaitaan will not come near you until the morning. I released him. In the m orning Rasulallaah (Sallallahu alayhi wasallam) asked,"What did your thief do la st night?" Abu Hurairah narrated what had transpired. The Sahabah were most enth usiastic to gain virtues. Nabi (Sallallahu alayhi wasallam) said,"He has spoken the truth although he is a liar. Oh Abu Huraira, do you know with whom you were talking to for the past three nights." I said "No". Nabi (Sallallahu alayhi wasa llam) said that it was Satan.

It is mentioned in Kitaabul Dalaalil from Hadhrat Buraidah (Radiahallahu Anhu) t hat he had wheat (crops). He said, "I sensed that there was a shortage in it. Wh ile sitting quietly in the night I saw a female Jinn sitting on the crops . I ca ught hold of her and said that I will not let her go until I had taken her to Ra sulallaah (Sallallahu alayhi wasallam). She said that she had a family and swore on oath that she will not do so again. I released her. I came to Rasulallaah (S allallahu alayhi wasallam) and informed him about this. He said that she was a l iar. When the same thing happened on the second night, she (the female jinn) ask ed me to release her. She said,"I will, in exchange teach you such a duaa that f rom amongst us none will ever come near your crops. When you retire to your slee ping place then read and blow Ayatul Kursi on your goods. I left her. When I inf ormed Nabi (Sallallahu alayhi wasallam) about this he said that she had spoken t he truth although she was a liar. 38) Hadhrat Abu Huraia (Radiahallahu Anhu) said that Rasulallaah (Sallallahu ala yhi wasallam) stated that whosoever reads "Haa meem al Mu'minoon" upto "al masee r" and Ayatul Kursi in the morning, will be protected until the evening and whoe ver reads both of these in the night will be protected until the morning. 39) Hadhrat Ibne Abbass (Radiahallahu Anhu) narrated that the Bani Israeel asked Musa(A.S.), "Does your Rabb sleep?" Musa(A.S.) said, "Fear Allaah". Allaah orde red," Oh Musa, your nation has asked you whether your Rabb sleeps? Take two glas ses in your hand and stand with it for the whole night." Hadhrat Musa (A.S) did as he was ordered. When on third of the night passed, he fell on his knees but s tood up immediately. During the latter part of the night, sleep overcame him and the glasses fell and broke. Allaah Jala Shanahu said, "Oh Musa, if I sleep then the sky will fall on the earth and destroy it just as the two glasses fell from your hands and broke. " Then Allaah Ta'aala revealed unto Nabi (Sallallahu alay hi wasallam) Ayatul Kursi. *********************************************** As to ayatul Kursi, it embodies the complete ability of Allah, different from th e falsity of the gods, who do not hold any real authority.
