Purpose of Industrial Visit

I take this opportunity to express my deep sense of gratitude to my guide Prof. Ignatius Xaxa (DPC, Information Management) and Prof.Dr.S.N.Singh (HOD, Information management), XISS, Ranchi for their continuous motivation and guidance in the completion of this project. I express my cordial thanks to my guide for their continuous encouragement, inspiring suggestions and extending full support and cooperation both on and off campus for the successful completion of the project which help me in maintaining the quality of work. The supervision and support that they gave truly help the progression and smoothness of the internship program. The co-operation is much indeed appreciated.

Last but not least I would like to thank my friends especially those who work together as team. The whole program really brought us together to appreciate the true value of friendship and respect of each other.

Industrial visit are integral and essential part of Professional studies. The work mechanism is quite different from the theories studied in the books. To give insight of mechanism and processes it is must for students that they should get live learning experience about industry. Team work is more about we and not about me. It was good learning experience for student to know about various processes from start to end. Students learnt about vitality of processes and learnt about methods and mechanism followed. Student’s inquisitiveness leads to the basic question of reengineering and quality control. In totality, it was life time learning experience to newbie's of future India The Post Graduate diploma in Information Management (PGDIM) course at XISS, Ranchi

provides proper education and training to the students to prepare themselves believes that exposing the management students to actual business practices would enable them to test their text book knowledge with industrial practices and develop the required necessary analytical skills. It also familiarizes us with environment in which a business unit operates to perform various activities and processes to accomplish the task and achieve business objectives. The interaction of students with industry manager and other personnel help them understand the management styles and the problems at operational level.

The visit was intended to expose the participants to the real universe where we would see themselves in the near future. The exposure was an opportunity to first hand witness the start-to-end processes in an industrial unit as well interact with the managers spearheading the processes.

The objective of the Industrial Visit is to help students gain first hand information regarding functioning of the industry which presents the students with opportunities to plan, organize and engage in active learning experiences both inside and outside the classroom. • To understand the process • To experience chemistry at work  • To become aware of the role of different people in an organization • To become aware of career opportunities • To recognize the need for health and safety in the workplace • To focus students on specific aspects of their studies .

Our journey started on 11th September 2011 at 6.20 PM. It has taken two days train journey to Bangalore but with the helpful and entertaining behavior of our group member it never feels that it is so long journey. We have enjoyed a lot in the train. We reached Bangalore early morning on the 13th September 2011 at 5.00 AM.

There was arrangement for our stay at ISI(Indian social institute) Bangalore which was a very beautiful and peaceful place. The environment was green and free from pollution. The facility and support by the members of that place makes its pleasure to accommodate there. They are very helpful and cooperative. It was an unforgettable journey for our whole group members.

The group members were 25 with 2 faculty members. We were 11 girls and 14 boys.

RESPONSE: They do not take fresher’s in the company, but once we have a work experience we are welcomed in the company. The response was positive from the sir side, he suggested us the ways for job opportunities in his company. MY EXPERIENCE: The Company invited 5 students for the visit. It was a huge and fantastic office. After completing all the security means we all move to the reception area. After that Mr. Abhijeet sir welcome us. He was really very friendly with us. First he offer us the tasty lunch in the campus. The hospitality given by him was very nice. We discussed not only about our carrier but also the college days. He told us about the working of SAP. And we were surprise to see the employee satisfaction in term of free lunch, dinner, rest room, gym, arrangement of transport, etc. It was a great environment inside the campus.

RESPONSE: Not positive response for placement since contact person was not from HR department but a very positive response for visit. He was an experienced person, his suggestion and views really help us to understand the working of HP. MY EXPERIENCE: The Company invited 14 students for the visit. It was a very big and beautiful office. After completing all the security means we all move to the conference hall where a very fruitful presentation given by Mr. Aditya Rao. Since he was from sales department he deals with all the sales strategy and procedure followed in HP. He describes it in very much interesting manner by using tools like graphs, trees and others. We have asked many questions and the conversation was very fruitful for all of us.

RESPONSE: Not positive response for placement side but a very positive response for visit. MY EXPERIENCE: The Company invited 14 students for the visit. The company was very nice, be in appearance, hospitality and company overview. The organization’s HR was very happy enough to see our interest and energy level to learn. We went to different departments and got to know about various practices followed there. The work environment was great.



During the visit, every student was given a particular role that had to be played individually by them during the industrial visit.



I had also line up a company BHEL (Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited) AND HAL (Hindustan Aeronautics Limited), but due to time factor the visit was not done.



I also take care the health, food issue for the group members all over the trip. I manage all the gifts and help my friends in wrapping gifts.



I take responsibility for welcoming our alumni in the alumni meet.



Industrial visit survey provides me with “dynamic” real time feedback that is very useful in the program learning outcomes process.



It provides me knowledge about social as well as work culture of various organizations.



Experience the importance of working safety.



I Come to know about what skill need to acquire so as to stand a chance for placement in the organization.



It helps me to enhance my communication skill and level of confidence.



Practical implementation of principles of management studies so far.



I learned about the role and responsibility where Information Management best suited.



More over I gain the subject learning outcome by means of pre, after and post industrial visit survey. This has resulted in enhanced visibility for my learning outcomes.



The industrial visit to Bangalore was really fruitful for us as we got practical exposure of  the work culture and various technologies of few companies.



Our visit was a successful visit, whichever company we visited they treated us with utmost hospitality and given us more time than we expected.



It was a great learning experience and unforgettable journey.



Some of the company would come surely for placement as well.
